Honestly, it has lots of flaws, but I think Below Zero is better. I do, however, feel like it lacked a few things, like the ||medium rectangle room in marg's base (With the reaper skull)||, or more types of Leviathans.

I would imagine their skeletal structure would be very strange, but then again, it would probably be the only available skull considering Chelicerates seem to be oversized shrimp with massive mandibles (causing a number of problems) and squid sharks mouths likely have no bones (which would look weird)

And due to three of those biomes being rather bland/not being worth going to, it still wouldn't be worth it)

And for all uses a Cyclops would have, you can use Seatruck Modules

after you get those things you're basically safe until you get 500m away from your scanner room

and if you pack materials and do a few trips you can make a second scanner room right outside of the first one's range

with a seatruck and storage module you could even do it in one trip

and since Shadow Leviathans don't seem to target anything but the player, you can easily get out of your seatruck, hide until it goes away, and then repair the seatruck

I have never been more bored than I have been playing in this ice area. Do I have to keep playing here? I just aeem to endlessly keep going around and there is nothing but snow and those snow dogs. I've come across the security bunker, the frozen leviathan, etc. Is there anything else I have to do here to beat the game? I've gone to a few places with the spy penguin and have found nothing exciting. It's very frustrating to drive. I absolutely cannot stand the snowfox handling.

I'm on Xbox and I never encountered a game breaking bug. But I do agree with your other critiques. Subnautica 1 was great because of how open it was. Below Zero is more cramped because you're in the arctic

I think BZ is great, it’s just a bit different than Subnautica of course. But it has so many QoL improvements over the first game, it’s beautiful as well, it took time for the seatruck to grow on me but now I love its modularity, and the ending (which I won’t spoil) just blew me away

You really should do the SOS part because the game doesn’t really start the main story (trust me) until you do that

BZ may also be suffering from 'sequel syndrome' -- where the first game was so impressive, the sequel will never measure up, even if it's better

yeah sometimes the producer learns that whatever you release, just get some good reviews and you get lots of money
