Grand Reef is my fav biome to build in.
The cliffs overlooking the NE Mushroom Forest at the crash zone border is a great centralized spot.
If you want something with a better view, Bulb Zone is stacked with resources and has some great spots for a base.

I think it would be really cool if you have a main base but also have multiple bases with 1-2 multi purpose rooms in different biomes and use the seamoth to go between them. Having deployed lights to mark the path would be nice as well.

Ok so that's my base (you can see a big room, a multipurpose room turned into an observatory, 2 moonpools for my prawn and seatruck, and a control room connected to one of the moonpools.

Any my big room is split in 3 parts. The kitchen (i got my trash can, fridge, sink, table and stuff like that there), The storage and fabrication room (I have my stuff thrown in random lockers there as usual and a fabricator, modification station, and chargers. The last part is the living room. (i have a bed there, all the posters and paintings that i collected, a table and a chair.

Make a lot of reinforcements, they give 7 strength compared to the foundation's 2
Also add separate prawn and seamoth bays with vehicle upgrade consoles in each in case your cyclops gets destroyed
Also, if you're near lava, GET THERMAL REACTORS
Seriously i have 4 and they output 1000 power combined
Also when you can get a nuclear reactor and bioreactor room and plamt lantern trees in the room for fuel for near infinite power should the thermal power fail
