Sooooo I played sub awhile back and redownload over the weekend, about to drop my first base, any ideas of good places?

I had set my first base in a spot right on the edge of the Grassy Plateaux and the Kelp forest, above a fissure that led to an entrance to the Jellyshroom cavern.
Had a nice amount of ressources in the surrounding areas, wasn't too far from the safe shallows, and wasn't too deep for a first base either, and gave an easy access to the underground jellyshroom cave

But I'm not a professional player either so y'know, can't say if it's the best spot to recommend

Also, on a similar note to the above question, I just started Below Zero and I'm not sure where to put my first base.
Due to the fact that Below Zero seemed to put a bit more focus on surface stuff, I wanted a base that'd connect on the surface and underwater but I don't know where to find any good ones. So I was curious if there were any good suggestion

While we're at it, that's a picture of my home (taken from the Neptune entrance)
It had a long series of vertical connector that led it to the underwater area of the base I showed just above, but this one acted as a "homey" part of it

Main base in Subnautica. It continues downward into a cavern, where I can get materials for the scanner room upgrades. Upper base has the exploration vehicles. I had several small scanner bases with 3xrange and 1xspeed upgrade so most of the map had scanner coverage. Didn't expand the scanner coverage to deeper than the 50+max range since it wasn't really necessary.

Here’s some basebuilding tips I have (functional and aesthetic)

While multi purpose room stacks are very easy, they usually don’t look to good.

Having a 5 tall stack is where it starts to look bad

in BZ keep your bases to a minimum. A large room, connected to a moon pool is already a very spacious base. You dont need to add more, as in my opinion, what judges bases as a whole is how they are decorated. So put as much as you can in that large room, using the divisions to add more rooms, within that massive room.

Signs can make your large bases, a lot nicer

Especially if your not familiar with it yet

heres a base i call Prison Zero. alterra sends the worst of the worst to this prison due to it being remote. its designed to be unescapable. even if they do escape, the area is known to be infested with ice worms. the enviorment is so harsh that they'd probably die before making it off the planet.
