Based off everything we’ve seen, this is my version of the current sn2 story,

You are a pioneer on Alterra’s Cicada, a ship meant to carry your and 39,999 other peoples’ digital information to the desert oasis of Zezura during a massive Kharaa break out across a portion of the galaxy.
Once you are fabricated on arrival, you will set out to build a colony without any wages or holidays, working off your debt.
But, 7 years into the trip, the Noetic onboard Adviser, or NoA, makes an unscheduled phase gate transit after detecting an unknown signal.
Trying to land on a water moon around a gas giant orbiting an M0V binary, the Cicadas hull can be heard tearing off and entering moon-fall.
You are alerted by NoA and told to find a convenient way to die, slamming into a window and being reprinted back onto the surface.
Only 4 people seem to survive.
During this, Alterra officially announces the Cicada as lost in space.

how scarce are ressources going to be? because scarcity multiplaying and singleplaying shouldn't be overlooked:
I play in a minecraft server called civlabs, and it is wonderful because of it's concept. you can't survive alone. you must work with your collegues when one farms, the other mines, crafts ext.
It could be cool if the needs were increased, so that multiplayer forces players to multiply their harvests, of food and everything. but you also must give enough ressources and space for 4 players
