Although I agree in that preloading is something I would like to see too, only I imagine people talking about preordering usually mean like a week early for a higher price with special cosmetics or something, the basics.
I'm also pretty sure there are more times preorders have been discussed in a similar, negative fashion, but I don't believe there's much use in me arguing anymore. Simply what happens, happens.

typically they do, but like I said (and, more authoritatively, Meatie said) I don't think they are doing a preorder like that.
Preloading is a weird edge case where you TECHNICALLY preorder, but it's just by a few hours so you don't really get to play any earlier, you just get the opportunity to download the game earlier so that you can start playing as soon as it launches

Anyone think that what ever large ship we arrive on might crash land into more smaller pieces than the Aurora in SN, so that there will be more smaller wrecks to explore. Or do you guys think that we're arriving in something smaller and just exploring the previous ship's crash. I noticed Seth said earlier in chat to not expect to meet much in the way of human npcs, so maybe the previous ship didn't have body printing and that's unique to our mission/current tech. And as far as not being able to reprint previous human others maybe there is some sort of limitation that requires some sort of file made by other machines (as in this is a printer only and not also a scanner); that or there is something that has irreparably damaged their DNA (like a radiation leak, but probably something on the planet itself).
