Yea, the Void in Sub 1 really never made sense... An ocean would have Ecological Deadzones, it simply wouldn't be a thing unless the ocean was contaminated. If a species did that to its own living enviorment, it wouldn't be living for very long. The Void was basically just Open Ocean, where bigger threats lived.

Because glowing with bioluminsence requires energy, energy burns calories, and you're living off the scrap of the ocean in an area so heavily compressed you basically have to evolve into jelly to even live there. Disk space? Not a lot, 50GB is already way smaller than most modern games with voice acting and high quality textures. We spend more time optimising for memory usage in game, like RAM usage

Yea, the artists needs to make all the amazing assets, but no artists could singlehandedly bake the lighting and make it all play together the way that UE5 can. While UE5 can turn a 💩 into looking like gold, it's nothing compared to the result you get when you got talent artists (like the Subnautica team) in combination with tools like UE5 to bring it all together and to life 😄

Like, don't get me wrong I think below zero and sn1 were good at this, below zero absolutely more so with how the pengwings/penglings, sea monkeys, and snow stalkers+babies function, even the pinnacarids!
