I mean, uhh, are the pixel animations hand made, or did you use a program to pixelize/automate? I've been thinking about animating some stuff and making the same animation in 8 angles, frame by frame, is soooo tiring

and the animations are procedural, same with some of the tilesets and the coloring. since im a solo dev im trying to take as many shortcuts as possible without compromising quality. the basis of the animation is a noise texture that displaces the pixel based on the light/dark value of the pixel, could likely replicate it in blender or the likes

it is absolutely tiring, im with you on that. i need to still make a run cycle and all the other animations (in 8 directions too...) and as you can see im prioritizing other things first LOL

Behold the Eclipse Leviathan. been working on him all day. It lives in the outerspace areas between planets consuming anything that comes his way, be it tiny bacteria, or massive spacecraft. sometimes it goes down to the surface of planets when food in outerspace runs out and it consumes the local wildlife. when it wants to go back to space, it inflates the crests on its back, head, and tail with helium like a balloon and floats back up. its specialized for movement in space, being among the lightest creatures ever given the leviathan class. It needs to be so light and specialized so it can achieve movement by pushing off of the hydrogen atoms in the vast expanse of nothingness, which makes it appear as though it is swimming through space. this coincidentally makes it the perfect predator on 4546b where its speed and agility make it among the top predators found on the planet, outclassing even the sea dragon leviathan. in addition, it is incredibly intelligent, on par with the sea emperors, and the smarter specimens even having human levels of intelligence and understanding. given the similar ecosystem and intelligence levels, it is theorized that long, long, long ago during the earliest stages of life on the planet, they once shared a common ancestor.

I liked the idea of a deep sea leviathan that was bioluminescent on the inside though... Like maybe you couldn't see his mouth until it was about to swallow you whole. And the two little lanterns looked similar to other plants in the murky biome.

Grebnedu was the main hybrid that was going to be present in Project Evilution, a halloween horror nights theme for JP at the Universal theme parks
The the park's lore it was a hybrid made with genomes of various sea animals, having an eel-like body, it was living in the lagoon of Isla Aventura, and the animatronic/puppet was built to pop out of the water to scare the guests

I worked on a stylized model of it for a commission last year too, with a speculative body since most of it known is the head
