It is a more difficult route though, since it's more difficult to navigate a cyclops through the trench and the trench itself it's rather right next to the dunes.

Also, on pc at least, the game calculates the speed of the seamoth by basically adding 3 vectors one for each axis. And each vector has a constant max value.

In practice if you move diagonally the thing will go way faster since adding together 3 vectors at a 90⁰ angle from each other will result a vector with a bigger value.

A nice idea would be making the leviathans have what I want to call "dynamic patrols".

First off they should actually cover most of the biome they live in and periodically move to other sides of the biome so you can't just remember their locations.

Also if the leviathan would spot you (and you manage to escape) it would remember that location and patrol that area more often, not to the point that you can lure all the leviathans into the void or something but enough that they might surprise you.

Anyone else want a “realistic” subnautica that reworks the game to make it more life like?
