I tried it and it didn't work. I had to destroy my gel sacks planted and the blood vines when I deconstructed my alien containment because dumb google says it will still stay on my inventory if I deconstruct it with the plants still in there

In my playthrough I had melons and trees growing and just ate the trees when I was waiting for the melons to grow

Theres two blood kelp zones, the blood kelp trench is next to the SW grassy plateaus which i believe are the largest of the 4. the other blood kelp zone is the northern which yeah as another said its by the underwater islands or you could simply go to the NW mushroom forest and just go along that until you get there, one of the lifepods is down there so you could also just wait for that radio message.
