Some challenge ideas:
-Never craft a battery (and only craft one repair tool/pathfinder).
-No knife until the very end. (kinda extreme challenge...)
-Pacifist, i.e. never kill a creature (including eating or crafting to water), even by accident (up to you do you want to restart or reload save if you accidentally ram a small fish).

Ok so I have a small problem here.
I tried building the tower I said, I put some compartments one above another, removed the below compartments and built a hatch to enter the compartment so i could keep going up.
The problem? I entered the compartment, then tried to destroy the hatch but for some reason I can't remove it and now I can't build another hatch to get out of this compartment because the one I tried to destroy is at 99%

Now, you would think "Hey, ez, just wait for your character to die since you don't have energy in your compartment"
That's another issue, I'm not losing oxygen🫠
(Nor do I have energy in the compartment, which is odd)

Built another compartment, tried to build a hatch, now I got 2 compartments with unfinished hatches, oh God

If your base is above water, it has air even without power (you can still die to thirst/hunger, but that probably won't help as you most likely respawn back in the base...)

This game was a 4 hr test bed where I console commanded a lot of things. (Including unlocking tech). In the actual game that I’ll be using what I’ve learned, I’m only 22 minutes into the game. I don’t have mobile vehicle bay unlocked, I don’t have seamoth unlocked. At that point I need to line up 2 diamonds asap. I’m on a clock (self imposed) to be able to arrive at aurora right after the explosion with stasis riddle, propulsion, laser cutting, etc.

In testing unlocked power transmitters, the wiki says they don’t work between bases.

I have two separate bases that have never been connected. Both power transmitters and solar panels show blue lines between the separate bases.

The “total” power number increases on both bases, but the one not connected to actual power is in emergency power mode.

This raises the question of what are their purpose. I think it’s to maintain power on a base with a damaged middle.

Wouldn’t that mean you could engineer a base with a missing middle and power separate sections?

The point of the cyclops isn't to replace your main base, but rather be a tool for long distance travel, where you can go away for days and be fine

You want to travel towards the middle of the side that the aurora faces the lifepod (never go near the back, Steve and others are there) and swim to the sand along the side of the Aurora. Then keep pressed up against the Aurora, as no Reapers are on that side of the Aurora, but still press up against it as there is a small opening point that makes it safer then possibly encountering Sammy, and swim to the small rubble near the top to get in.

At this point I'm just in northwest mushroom biome

I'm new-ish too - restarted 4 times so far from beginning plays.

This is to allow for 4 camera drones - two scanning rooms, so you can parallel-ize collecting two resources at once.

Takes a bit of power - I have 6 solar to run it. You could do bioreactor if you got tech (I don't yet).

All you really need is scanner, fabricator, some storage, and med kit maker (optional).

I make foundation for very low depth (like this 250-300 depth), and 3 reinforcements. But you could do maybe 8 foundations instead if you don't have the resources for reinforcements.

I stick to I-connector mostly, no windows. They make it much harder to maintain integrity at depth.
