I've heard of some larger game updates resetting terrain chunks (respawning things in them), but there hasn't been any in a few years. But if your save was very old, that could be the reason. Probably you have also all resources respawned in that save🤷‍♂️

Make sure you are above the minimum requirements. I picked my laptop specifically to play Below Zero for example. Check to see what's hogging all the RAM such as browsers, etc. Close them. Adjust the settings to lowest tolerable.

Sea treader poop is terrible fuel, in case you weren’t aware. Just about anything else is better, because the feces is a 2x2 object. Any mushroom or some gel sacks or whatever is better. Or just use some fish or grow some plants
