Khaara is a bacterial organism. Not a bacterial disease or a virus, but a specific organism. All its cells are capable of rapid division and evolution, and are also capable of communicating with each other. Most human-sized creatures are infected with it because it's a kind of parasite that uses other organisms for protection and to absorb nutrients for subsequent evolution. They have no natural hosts, so it uses anyone. But Leviathans aren't infected for one simple reason. Khaara is too weak for them. It needs further evolution to utilize such large organisms. Otherwise, its immune system would simply destroy it. And the frozen Leviathan is infected precisely because the bacteria had already developed by the time it reached it, and in Sector Zero, due to the temperature, its immune system functions differently. So its evolution and adaptation to the cold played into its hands. ||Enzyme 42|| is simply a common digestive substance. But bacteria die from it because it's quite capable of disrupting the cytoplasmic membrane (the bacteria's skin), stopping any possibility of life. Bacterial growths appear as the bacteria develop, and after the death of a fully infected creature, the disease is strong enough to attempt to infect leviathans, which are no longer within the warpers' reach. But since we disabled the defense system, the warpers themselves stopped destroying infected individuals. The ||Sea Emperor's hatchlings|| took over. In Natural Selection II, we clearly see creatures called Khaara, and the game itself takes place after Below Zero. So for hull and bridge go to mushroom forest but for engine either mountains, around aurora or underwater islands
