Basically the lockers (or other furniture) is detached and sinks to ocean floor. If you can get to them quickly (before they glitch inside terrain) you can recover stuff inside and deconstruct the lockers and then build them back

Build where you want. Grassy plateaus near border with other biomes is typical choise

I know you said no spoilers, but I did find a really great map guide to reference general locations for specific parts, wrecks, life pods, alien stuff and leviathan hunting grounds. It is a little bit of a cheat sheet, but sometimes you really just need to find that one fragment for something and you just have no clue where it's at or if it's even in an area you're ready to explore. I mean you got to be decent at reading a map it doesn't exactly hold your hand, but I just use my base as a reference point because it's in a really specific spot between biomes.

You probably figured it out by now, but the origin point of the filtration machine isn't the same as the base itself, but the same as the cell.
Also isUnderwater() is checking y < -1.

And that explains the salt at 100% as well.

If you wanna be helpful, put crafting materials: they are useful regardless in which part of the game the finder is. Tools may seem like good idea at first, but they are practically just an extra battery if the finder has already crafted them. Food and water are useless for freedom players etc

Yeah, that's where LP 19 is at, I searched all through the ravine and as much of the side caves as I could (besides the warper one) and found one fragment, but I need another. I suppose it's not URGENT, since I've got a moon pool. However, id like to start building outposts for deeper exploration, and battery/ power cell chargers would be quite helpful in a pinch.

So spent a couple hours rebuilding a whole entire base to move it down 1 grid level because after finishing the base I realized it wasn't deep enough for the water filtration units to work, even though technically underwater (the code for this is wacky and I don't fully understand it.)

For anyone wanting to avoid this with a base close to the surface, I can confirm that if you are standing inside a multipurpose room and it tells you your depth is 4m, that is deep enough for water filtration to work at normal speed and produce both water and salt.

At 1m depth, you are not deep enough!

At 4m depth of the floor of multipurpose room, a tiny bit of the roof of the room is above water, but it will still count as the filtration unit being submerged properly

Also, it takes about 4 solar panels just to power 1 filtration unit (and more if you have a scanner room running)

The scanner room is technically a scam. When you move around, you add the resources in the resource tracker database. It's something in the current scene so that works with the drones too.

The scanner room just adds one blip every 14 seconds from that database, without speed upgrade. So yes I guess it removes all blips and you have to wait a long time again, but technically the database is still there until you reload the game.

It checks if the resource in the database is in its range of course.

if you fall off the top while extending the ladder destination room upward, you're hosed, you'd basically have to start over

Note that cyclops engine efficiency module only affects energy use of moving. Everything else (silent running, sonar, crafting, charging etc.) still uses same amount of energy. Also moving at slow speed saves energy

Yeah also, silent running will eat your battery in minutes

If you see a leviathan, turning off the engine will make them stop seeing the cyclops...usually

I really like the ability to build a quick scanner room wherever I go with the Cyclops, it has plants that sustain food and water and also I don't have to do a lot of back and forth through the portals to craft the endgame recipes. What's there not to like?

(Also you are not 'stuck' 8000m deep, just swim couple hundred meters down and you will be teleported to surface)
