then i had to escape back up

then the only reason my cyclops made it out was because theres a little volcano at the bulb zone which gave it enough energy to head back

Try deathrun mod...or set yourself challenges for the run, for example never craft a battery or never kill a creature (even by accident such as ramming with vehicle)

There's always mods. Otherwise you could do something like hardcore or 100%. You could also say you aren't allowed oxygen upgrades beyond a specific point, maybe no vehicle upgrades other than depth (or no vehicles at all). Maybe you go vegetarian and only eat plants, never fish (kelp is edible for early game)

Over by lifepod 12 there is an entrance, near the life pod there's a little Cliff face that you can find and it creates a ridge that you can follow all the way to an extremely steep long drop off somewhere around there is the cave entrance

I would personally not recommend taking your Cyclops Beyond some thermal vents you'll find but those thermal vents do make for a really nice base of operations just build some thermal plants and two Moon pools so you can recharge there

I once made a trip to the other opposite of the map where I build an “emergency base/scanner room” in the dunes because I simply ran out of titanium (who tf runs out of titanium?!) in my primary base which is build between the kelp zone and the grassy plateaus (which has a great view of a huge reefback that keeps visiting me)…until I realized I can actually have 4 slots of scanner room range upgrades

I just go with 3 range and 1 speed

You’ll use 4 range if you simply ran out of resources like me. I do have the other upgrades so I can just switch between them when I need to

Not sure if the scanner room bug has been fixed, but it might scan at max 500m range even without range upgrades (and range upgrades would only affect the holomap size)

I do get a resource scan glitch where the game would point to resources that don’t exist! I used to think they’re just underground and I have to find a cave opening but I realized it was a glitch because it pointed at a reefback that doesn’t exist..

Speaking of “wiping out” the resources of 4546B, I newly discovered that you can actually erase the huge creepvine plants and that got me wondering if they respawn at all or I’m just basically destroying the planet flora lol. Has anyone attempted to actually wipe out the kelp forests of all its plants..

perhaps true but eh hardcore plus deathrun kinda makes it so yes the shark can eat you pretty easily so I am just dodging everything that wants to eat me

I built my tiny dunes base just at the end of the bloodkelp trenches in which there’s a sand shark and a warper right outside the base, the shark bites me sometimes but it’s the warper that’s absolutely annoying, their constant Pokemon screeches don’t help.

Btw, is there a way I can upgrade my seamoth to go below 900 meters? I kinda don’t want to drag my cyclops to the lost river (taken that the cyclops can reach that depth). Bear with my this is my first playthrough
