So far enjoying it but I had my first encounter with a Leviathan and lost my Seamoth, now I'm kind of at a loss on what to do from here. I want to find specific materials, like silver and diamond to make tools, but have no clue how to find them more effectively. For now it just feels like I need to be lucky to find some.

I would suggest building a scanner room (with solar panels) in the grassy plataeus (red grass area) allowing you to scan for materials

you can get silver that way
