Plus there’s ample thermal energy if you want to make use of thermal plant sources for energy for your base. I take the cyclops and prawn down after I’ve used my max depth seamoth to collect some nickel and crystalline sulfur to upgrade their depths

But my main base is located between grassy plateaus and safe shallows, next to one of the kelp forests

But you’ll eventually want to explore further, especially deeper. There are some other vehicles you’ll eventually be able to make for those purposes
It’s best to play the game and figure out for yourself though

I checked my save I finished back before the Living Large update (when I logged in, it added the blueprints for the big room and domes😂). I tried a speedrun with only the Seaglide once, and what ended it was miscalculating the longer underwater stretches around the LR zone and running out of O2 despite having most of my inventory taken up by O2 tanks. If I tried again I'd maybe make the Seamoth exactly so I had an air supply...

It was quite fun too though, powering that far down without any vehicle air supply

, but if you go to lp 19 you will see a wreck, follow the line from 19 to and PAST the wreck untill you reach the blood kelp trench. once there you will see a stone arch above a cave, go from the edge of the blood kelp trench to and PAST the arch and you will reach the sparse reef wreck.

Search the caves in the pool, and portals in the upper chamber.

(You probably have seen most of them during the game, so in theory it could be possible to remember where you have seen them before. Only one (or two, depending how you count biomes) of the plants grows exclusively in one biome, but the biome is full of them.)
