the bug comes from a now removed mechanic where you could scan the regular arm fragments, and you would have to scan 20 to get the prawn bp
thats no longer the case, but picking up a specific abandoned PDA in the aurora sets the visual requirement to 20
in reality scanning 4 still works as normal

Did you notice the white text "cut kelp with knife" when swimming near creepvines after crafting survival knife? That's the 'in-game tutorial' teaching you that cutting plants can give you new recipes (or stuff to eat, or both as in case of creepvine)
