I've been rereading a synopsis of prospero burns to try to get a better picture in my mind again and something came up I've haven't really heard about before

I think that both wings of the Talons needing to be brought in, in general, is a pretty huge win for the Sons
Can't think of any other Legion, save for maybe the SoH, DA, or maybe one of the siege legions being equally able to survive such an overwhelmingly outnumbering invasion

Oh absolutely. It's what Othere deserved. But the book does note that there's possibly a chance that, seeing what Ahriman made him see, they might have come to a less stupid solution than Russ had.

Of course, it's the Space Wolves, so it's unlikely they'd see reason, but still.

I don’t think he’s particularly good. The change to how psykers work means he doesn’t really have the opportunity to use many powers. The powers themselves are also, for the most part, not great

I mean, he is a Primarch and can murder non-primarchs adequately, but…he’s a lot of points

Trying to be objective - I think he is expensive, but he has some utility. his warlord trait is decent for Osirons and should limit some casualties across a game (not great, but good if you maxed out psykers). His powers will be a little hit and miss and will require some good placement and situations to get maximum efficiency. The extra reaction in the assault phase is handy. On his own he looks like he can cause some serious damage to various targets, but just doesn't stack up as a duelist against other primarchs.

Overall I think he is worth it in 4k+ lists to minimise perils, but anything under and Ahriman is the wiser choice for a special character warlord.

played 2500 last night against sons of horus.

My opponent brought
Horus + The age of darkness starter box

I went 2nd and blew up the spartan on my first turn and pulverized 9 of the 10 terminators inside with all of the shooting from my army, i then fed horus 1 unit a turn to satiate him and he killed probably close to 1500 points of models but I wont on objectives because I was able to clear out all of my opponents tac marines, played tide of carnage using dawn of war deployment

they were a lot of points but performed well

they easily bullied a 20 man tactical squad into the ground and giving pretty much everything pavoni was nice, moving across the battlefield was a breeze

they came up on the left flank and took out a 20 man squad between 2 turns of shooting + overwatch

and then flew all the way across to the other side and took out the other squad on the opposite side

Siege breaker pops a forcefield to protect bubble of tanks, and gives out sunder to one of them. Ahriman lets me decide what goes into deep strike after deployment. In theory is competent at fighting but the chaplain is to babysit him.

starting to think even more snipers is the way forward with GoTCK, to pick off those augury scanners, but I don't currently have any recon squads.
