Hey guys one of my streamer friends has an issue with 7tv, so if I add emotes with the original name of the emote they embed fine in the chatbox (streamlabs btw), however if I decide to add an emote but change the name of the title it will not embed at all in the chatbox and I have no idea if this is an issue with 7tv or streamlabs, does anyone have any suggestions how I can solve this issue? (Apart from just adding the emote with the original name, sometimes the titles are common words that chat can accidentally use or the name of the emote sometimes overlaps with another emote)

90% of the time this just means this user signed in previously

but unlinked

ie. an account exists with the username they are trying to create

but its not linked to them

the server doesnt return an error for this because its not supposed to be one

but usernames are marked as primary keys in the mongo db

and that cant be changed easily

but the server will hapily attempt to do the correct action

and create a new user with the supplied credentials, when one is not linked

but fails at the insert request to the db, resulting in a crash out to a generic 500

you can use a different account to sign in

and then just link your existing one

but more commonly if this condition is arising

the user did not intend to unlink their twitch

and therefor another account that they could sign in with is still connected

so they should just sign in with that and relink

instead of creating a new account, like what is trying to happen

the same error would happen for example

if xqc signed in with twitch

and someone else had the username xqc on discord or kick

and tried to sign in, that would result in a 500

there is no connection to the accounts, and its trying to create a new one like it should

but it cannot, because the username is reserved unintentionally

this error though like I said implies that an account still exists

so they should find whatever connection they left behind

and use that, to relink

also make sure you have third party cookies and etc enabled

and any "privacy" blockers disabled

the linking mechanism relies on the cookie being sent properly

linking is a little scuffed

its the same action as signing in

the server distinguishes it by weather or not your actively signed in, while trying to signin

if you are, then you're linking

but if for some reason your browser is failing to send that

then the server will think you are trying to signin

Hi hope someone could help me out with this. Originally, I was using the emote set "Rhapsody's emotes", until one randomly assigned which I renamed to "rhapwrong".. I've tried clicking it and 'deleting' but there's no delete option, nor can i find an option to get "rhapsody's emotes" assigned as the default emote set. I'm unsure how to remove it, 7tv was working fine - until recently i've noticed a weird change emotes not working, checked on it and 3x different emote sets were made, I was able to remove the others just fine; this one, again named "rhapwrong" will not delete... and it won't let me set "rhapsody's emotes" to be the default 7tv emote set in my twitch. Not sure if anyone's had any issues with this: here's a picture of the two different emote sets.

I should note, I didn't create these - they were blank replicas all named "rhapsody's emotes" but again, I deleted 2/3 of the replicas.. This one is the only one that will not delete; and i've renamed it for this example.

the Rhapwrong is your personal emote set, which came from your sub benefit, and allows you to use those emote globally like any global emote, hence it is not deletable

What you want to do is to assign back your "Rhapsody's emote" to your channel:

1. Click on the wrench bottom right of the "Rhapsody's emote"
2. Check the checkbox next to your twitch name

most likely it's just your channel set not showing up

either do a couple more refresh, or restart computer as last resort

Did everything up until step 3. I'd attempt to link the account and it would open a separate window only for it to close a few seconds later and nothing changing as far as I know

the opened window would update the 7tv data on your browser so that the next time you visit 7tv.app you'd be logged into your kick connected account

Don't think this has anything to do with it, but are a Kick account that is signed up through Email and a Kick account logged in through that same Email on Gmail two different accounts?

I'm not entirely sure, but I may have done it through Email to begin with only to sign in through Email later. The thing is it still logs me in my Kick account so I'm not entirely sure

the only thing that matters is that you are logged into the correct account on kick and 7tv

Just an obvious one here but I'd try removing and reinstalling the extension and clearing out your cache if you haven't already

but the thing is when going through Kick shouldn't I be able to log into my alternate 7TV account if I'm signed in? Whenever I try to sign in through Kick itself the window that pops up is the one that says you need to log in through Twitch. That's when I attempt to do so and then all the other problems with windows closing when attempting to sign in keep happening
