We have the uninformed majority of boyscouts who are trying to leave the camp as fast as possible or survive long enough.
and then we have the informed minority of Double Crossers which need to murder everyone before they can all escape.

The thing is how can i make double crosser gameplay more unique and make the traditional killing in other social deduction games a last resort?

This game has 10 players, 8 boyscouts and 2 double crossers. When the game starts each player gets assigned their role and then they spawn in the cabin, then all players can craft an axe immediatally when the game starts, then they can adventure into the forest. Players can collect resources by chopping trees (wood), pick of leaves (leaves) or entering the mines (stone,coal and iron). The Boyscouts must try to live 9 ingame days (yes this game has a day and night cycle), but they can decide to escape earlier than 9 days incase boyscouts are dying pretty quickly by fixing the broken bus in the map. Of course the double crossers must prevent the boyscouts from escaping by killing them 1 by 1. What i mean by unique is that instead of 1. running to someone, 2. press kill, 3. they die and wait on CD, 4. repeat, you actually have a different approach on killing the boyscouts while using the traditional approach as last resort.

The game does have crafting which allows you to craft items which will help u such as lanterns, campfires. axes, pickaxes, ect.

an interesting idea could be having the Double Crossers most effective ways of killing the group be sabotaging their recourses instead of outright killing them

There is an underlying core theme here and I encourage you to continually explore it. I have my own ideas on how to make this work but one thing to keep in mind is trying to keep the game loop to under 20 minutes or so

I wouldn't want to share my specific idea because you're the one making it. If you're not passionate about it and it isn't your idea the project will die. If its your first game I implore you to make something simple that you can finish.

Personally I'm a huge fan of refrigerators but I would never dare buy these electric copies. The OG ice box is better because it was first. I'll never buy an electric refrigerator. I also shave with a cracked flint rock. Why would I ever buy a straight razor or a gillete handle? Such copy, no originality. Must be loyal to only firsts. Firsts are best.
