Not all players coming from other social deduction games will understand how to utilize the power of the roles right of the gate. It takes time. I've seen expert players use every role. Some are more challenging than others.

You can also do a task and hang around other geese for protection , most ducks will avoid killing you early game.

Please add proximity chat to public games.

This is something we have considered, but have ultimately decided against. We have taken the stance that if you make a private game, you are responsible for moderating it. The host will have their own rules, and have the responsibility of kicking people who they feel are breaking the rules.
Public lobbies are different in that players don't necessarily know the people in the game they are joining into. Kids might enter a game and can be harassed by others in some corner of the map if proximity chat is on. If someone is being rude or toxic in a meeting, everyone can hear it and can block their mics and block them.

So why don't we just separate servers into kids and 18+? Because a 12 year old can check off a box that says they are 18, and we'd rather prevent the potential abuse and toxicity.

If you want proximity chat, make a private game. If you need players, find a private game in the #lfg channels or make your own.
