The button to open the Button IO is replaced with the pass bomb button but you can still click on the button task to open the button and press it

so you can still call a meeting if you're holding a bomb

2: The pelican is only on the basement map mainly because it complements it the best (The invisibility duck and someone going into a hiding spot can both be used to frame someone as a pelican)

you are correct that we dont currently have plans to bring the pelican in the desert, but in real life there are pelicans in egypt

and in fact, it was when i was working on roles for egypt that i had come up with the pelican, and i thought that it would mechanically just fit the basement map more

since there were disappearing bodies, and people potentially talking to seemingly no one with the telepathy sabotage, and stuff like that

there also arent strictly any pelicans in my basement either, so we can play fast and loose with some of it. like if we had a pirate map, a parrot would be cool, but it wouldnt be the end of the world if there was some other neutral

I'll admit, when I'm in a game, I almost never fart, morphed or otherwise. I probably fart more once I'm dead than when I'm alive.

Another game, I sort of lost because I was a duck and the mechanic and pigeon were hiding out in the shuttle, farting and I have Silent but Deadly on. But I made other strategic mistakes there, so it's just on me.

Yeah that's a high improbability, but not an impossibility.
You could, in theory, get the same role over and over dozens of times and it's still possible you get that same role the next time you play.

This does suck though, after a while of playing the same role, so maybe the upcoming draft mode will be of interest to some players when it is ready.

Hi, I'm very new, and I'm wondering, does anybody else feel like the roles make it too hard for normal geese to win? Like, sometimes there are 16 players, 3 ducks (with some special ability, like invisibility), and a demolitionist, a sherif, a dodo duel pair, and a pelican. Doesn't that make too many "killers" in one game? 6 out of 16 can kill me, and it kinda only get worst as the game goes on (not that I survive that long anyway lol) but generally, some geese die and that ratio of killers to non killers increases.
And every room I can find has almost all the roles enabled.
What do you think? Am I missing something obvious? Or maybe just not used to the game yet? Thanks 😁

There's a possibility you're not used to the game yet, but some geese players do indeed use their roles to unnecessarily kill with no information. The players that use them properly are extremely powerful and a major asset for their team. If you feel there are too many roles selected, you can always try making your own lobbies and adjust the settings to better suit your desires, and share them with other players in the LFG channels.

Ah yes, I understand. There is so much room for so many strategies. I did wonder if maybe the roles were meant to be used individually. Like, all normal geese and ducks but one sheriff or one dodo. Having all of them at once makes it too hard to strategize. But again, maybe it's a matter of practice. Thank you for the help 😊

It can be a little overwhelming to factor all the roles in, and there's definitely a bit of a learning curve with remembering what roles do what. We've made sure not to have any settings for the roles, so the roles will be consistent for everyone across every lobby they play in. We have some information and strategies to consider in the #live-birds channel, which currently doesn't include the new roles added with the basement patch. When you see a player just drop out of nowhere, and you suspect an Invisibility Duck, see if anyone else is visible on your screen, you can use this information to know who you were with, and eliminate them as the Invisibility Duck... but keep in mind a random body dropping with no one else around might also mean they were lovers and their partner died somewhere else on the map. Definitely a lot of strategy to consider!

Also, hmm, one question that has been bugging me since I started: when can others hear me (assuming I'm not muted)? Like, proximity is clear, but when I die does the killer continue to hear me? Do ghosts hear me or only when near me? When you "haunt?" someone alive (your ghost disappears and you follow them), can they hear you? When you're eaten but not dead, does the killer hear you? Do others hear you? In meetings, can ghosts talk to each other?

(Sorry if it's obvious, also, I googled, that's why I'm asking here...)

The map is available up until the point of voting. Once the voting appears, the map is no longer accessible. We found people weren't voting, because they were starring at the map. We disable it to ensure people know it's time to vote.

I sometimes like to use this as a strategy as well, and get people talking, so they forget where they were on the map.

hmm I see, the issue is, I think most rooms use the voting period to allow voting to start but of course continue discussing. But you'd know better, just coz for people who haven't learned the map by heart yet, you wouldn't have enough time to find what the others mention

Adding settings that include options like this seem like a good idea on paper. On our end, the solution to people not voting was to force the map out during the voting timer. If you add it as a setting, and more and more lobbies turn it on, we're right back to the original issue of people leaving it open and not voting.

The meeting has three sections (opening statements if enabled, Discussion, and Voting). Discussion and Voting sections have adjustable lengths in the lobby settings that the host can customize

If you like having the map available longer, increase the Discussion time. Voting will always begin after the Discussion time ends

If you are the lobby host, you can kick the offending players, and if you are not the host you can ask the host to kick them. Players who are kicked will not be able to rejoin the game unless permitted back in by the host. If the player in question is the host, and a sufficient number of players block their mics, they will be kicked from the game, and once again that will be reflected on their account.

In my first few games, I'll admit I was mostly quiet, too. Generally when it only got down to 3-7 people, that's when I started talking because if I didn't, I'd get voted out. You don't need to feel pressured to talk - go at your own pace - but once you get used to it, I think you'll find it enhances things.

As soon as it's ready! The gaggle team develop quickly, and we release patches fairly often. We don't often give out firm dates because it's either going to be a lie if we're wrong, or it'll be a rushed product that might sacrifice quality for speed. This could translate into releasing something without sufficient testing and creating lots of bugs for the game.

If you find none of that explanation sufficient, as Herbert always says, today we are one day closer than yesterday.

Does not mean you being hacked, means another instance of your account is being detected (most likely to a disconnect or client.timeout). Usually passes after a few minutes

Maybe the serial killer has a countdown and if it doesnt kill in that span of time, the serial killer themselves die. That's how it worked in TOH.

It was in regards to the draft mode. Before, I was getting the impression that choosing random could give you any unselected role, rather than just one of your three options.

Yea, this mode is meant to be a little more competitive like Herbert stated above. Not having players join mid game, prevents players from joining and relaying information. We're really excited for Draft mode, and have more features planned.

My mic isn’t working.

There are many potential root causes that may contribute to a microphone not working.
Please make sure that you are not deafened or muted, and also have the correct input devices selected.
If you are on Windows/Mac, try turning "echo-cancelation" on and off in the game settings found at the bottom of the Sound Settings.
If this does not work, in Windows, open your sound settings, and then the correct devices are set to Default Devices, rather than Communication Devices.

It's something we can probably take a look at in the future. I don't believe we currently have any roles that are eliminated in draft mode based on settings. We do have some roles, like Lovers and Hitman/Bodyguard which are deactivated entirely in draft mode.
