You need the mouse but its more required for the UI than playing the game. Folks with accessibility software and other input devices shouldn't have to worry about clicking in the world to move or anything like that

There's no absolute probability to get pre-alpha in cases like this, even if you have absolute numbers like 100k applications and 1400 spots, since not everyone would've been eligible for the testing for whatever requirements being used. But nonetheless, the chances of getting in were slim for most.

It's been there since the beginning, but it's pretty niche in the big picture and not many really actively do it. It's still more or less the same as ever, which means just starting the "cast" and clicking whenever you see a bob happening. Still, pretty chill and has been somewhat useful here and there, I for example did farm a expansion worth and some left overs of buff food materials for myself over 2 weeks, chilling here and there.

I guess the more modern achievements attached to fishing might have popularised it a little though

I am too, but my foolproof tactic is to just look away from whatever needle is about to do its thing to me. Way easier to just take any pain by itself than take looking at how a massive needle enters your body and also hurts.
