Perhaps gathering just needs to not be conventional at all - Instead, you start a 'group' in town, that says 'We'll go get some wood'.

At which point, it just cycles between a few number of possible events to reward you with wood at the end - Exploration in a cave with a treasure chest of wood at end, run mail around the town with Auni (who provides you with wood at end) etc.

But it'll all feel a grind in the end.

I think most MMO's will be fine, but rather, we'll see a larger diversity of players. Also, Nax, rest assured, Palia isn't trying to make a 1:1 scaleable model of the galaxy. I think its a simpler project. :3

Totally! Animal Crossing has somethings that require their camera to face one direction. Like house doors only facing south and their small world effect that curves the ground outside. Atleast, I think the older games needed that for the curving. I bet the newer versions just curve the mesh now using math.

There was a cool video of a hacker showing the older animal crossings from a different perspective. I wish I didn't lose that video. A lot of illusions.

Some games only let you see people who are 100 units away. I've seen games use tricks to extend their distance, while saving resources. Palia on the other hand doesn't need to worry about combat spam.

How I got it was I waited in line at MicroCenter 3 hours before it opened. Scalpers had 15 chairs parked in line before I even got there. They did have a 1 GPU per month rule, though.

yeah I think I got somewhat lucky their guild invite sounded very relaxing so I took my chances, hoping to find some similar vibes in Palia in the future too - for some reason that environment guild wise kept things a bit more grounded, even if we still wanted to grind our butts off and make progress in raids etc, versus the hardcore guilds that I just had no chance of keeping up with if I wanted to partake in current content

I remember that a GM would frequently check in on me during WoW's WOTLK era, as I spent expensive (15hr+) amounts of time fishing, in pursuit of the sea turtle mount. He would sometimes, inbetween ticket handling, make sure that i was hydrated. I played for another 8 years after that.

Well, to be fair, lots of girls did play video games. I did. My babysitters did. I'm in my late 20s; my babysitters were about ten years older than me. They're the ones that introduced me to Sonic, on their actual SEGA console.

The issue online was more the "Guy In Real Life" stuff, which was plenty common. You had a mixture of "free stoof pl0x", guys who just preferred female models, and guys who were trans, in games like RS and such. WoW definitely had a lot of legit female gamers, but most MMOs had more G.I.R.L.s than girls so the trope/meme started and lasted a while.

Of course, looking back you see tons of not just female gamers, but female developers as well. Females part of gaming magazines, even in the 2000s. A lot of guys just kind of ignored the proof.

Technically the brain is a computer and the mind is the software. The difference is that the mind is a bunch of signals bouncing around. It's hypothetically possible to have a fresh brain start "sharing" processes but the signal doesn't duplicate, only goes back and forth between the brains until the signals are all in the new brain. That's a transfer, not a copy. But we aren't anywhere near there yet.
