I would not play this game if i have to live under some form of competitive economy, also if a a house or spot is cleaned the person owning it would be forced to keep logging in without a chance to have a hiatus. But you know that it will be hard to achieve Non-competetive economy - it Should be only npc economy because even trading goods for goods might be adjusted i.e. 2 stones for 1 wood, after 1 months 3 stones for 1 wood, when people are controlling market you have to expect competetive economy. And as far as we know (i.e Albion) allowing people to control the economy give them a tool to create the game overview

I mean i was talking from a real-estate perspective mostly initially 😛 But let's further go down the line.

There are not many games that would qualify as a "different takes on economy", the most notable is Path of Exile, but thanks to season resets it's not the best example. I think the need in palia for items (potions/fruits/seeds/fish etc.) will be the make and break point and how exactly they are achievable for people.

Let's say all people can get any resource quality any time they want, then there is no way for a exchange based economy and some intermediate "currency" is needed. But this is a game, so you could actually make people dependent on each other to trade especially for "raw materials" to "crafted materials" transitions.

I think this is where I think they said specialisation will come into play. I think they said everyone can do everything but .. time wise it would take a long while to be a master of all trades. So, you could opt for basic self sufficiency ... or master a particular group of trades and then trade out those skills in exchange for 'purchasing' better items of the trades you haven't mastered. A barter system. If each group of items are tier based, you could equate tier 3 of one trade is the same as tier 3 of another trade to make a reasonable bartering system.

If it helps to frame it - Remember being a tester isn't a paid role. The value they intend for any tester to bring is the absolute minimal towards the game - that's phrased harshly because obviously large groups can have an impact, but you're unlikely to change their whole design philosophy.

There was a game I experienced having a constant turning animarion although I don't remember, you can't cancel it with a jump and you had to turn a ton, and when the game is majority of the time walking that gets really annoying, hence why I like the noneæ restrictive movement in WoW

testing the ping on maplestory 2 beta was so funny and a lot of fun they would ask everyone to go to one spot and fill it with mobs.

there is something in that. depending how your connection routes to their server it could be worth testing if you can even connect from certain places. i remember there was a period of about half a year where i couldn't connect to WoW at all because of how my connection routed to the American servers. they fixed it on their end eventually, but it only affected certain portions of the oceanic population

It's purely just it's an added extra expense you don't need during really early testing. You probably won't even have access to play 24/7 - they will limit login times and that will also save them development cost. It is important to test it, but you will want a wide test - not 10 Australians/Europeans out of 1400 global testers with different broadband packages telling you that their ping sucks - it's a no brainer already.

The ping is likely the least relevant part - having global testers mean more valuable feedback from different cultures/ways of thinking

Producing a game costs money - Running servers costs money. There isn't enough value in buying servers globally for such a small portion of testers (1400)

Ping should not be a problem in this type of game. I used to play on US WOW servers, im from EU, with minimal problems :).
Cross region ping can be a problem in MOBA and shooters.

Well, considering the game is not anywhere near done, its not really indicative of the final game's performance on pc, but as others said to right now requirements seem to strike pretty low, so I dont expect us all to require datacenter PCs

I built my computer from the ground up, almost couldn't fit my 2070 super lol, but given its UE4 that seems like a fair estimate on roughly normal gameplay.

It would be nice if they can give some form of roadmap of what content preview we can expect. Seems unlikely to get any gameplay footage for a while, but even if it's just as basic as 'Artwork until end of 2021', 'Scripted footage of some kind Early 2022'
