But again, if they're worried about extremes, just have sliders limited by other slider values. For instance, a breast slider would not go very large if a character is very short and/or body parts adjust in relation to other slider adjustments by default.

Struggling to remember the name of the event. Hoping someone in chat remembers it.

You had to collect orbs to power up a forge??

Anyway, to get to the content everyone paid for - the community had to solve a glyph puzzle. Basically the streamers did 24 hour + streams testing all perms & Combinations because the hints were garbage. It frustrated everyone and didn't go as they intended.

I mean people had all these elaborate theories and the solution was as simple as Butterfly + Wind or something. Community was fuming when the devs leaked it.

Honestly, with as much experience as I've had in games with different time rates than real life, I'm more a fan of ig time being slower than real life. That way any time of day triggered events actually last long enough to do them. 12 hours ig being 1 week irl for instance. Sadly, all games I've ever played have done the opposite which resulted in players rushing to get time-of-day based content done.

Also, that problem normally happens because lighting in nighttime sucks in games. If games had better lighting from moon/stars/fire, etc, it wouldn't be an issue. IRL rocks shine at night because of moonlight for instance. But games don't do that, they just make everything darker period and that's why night time is so hard to see in games.

I think they are going to have systems in place to see how much time you spend with certain people, and predict those you spend the most time with and somehow put you in servers with those people....here's the quote:

Well AI isn't totally bad, If they do it right I won't outright reject it. If you rank people based on who you want to see the most personally. Then the system tries to make you see those specific people that is alright. I just don't like the idea of the system trying to match you to other people -like- those already on your list. The last way we prototype is through hackathons. Having done countless game jams on my personal time, this is definitely a huge perk of working at Singularity 6 for me. Our hackathons usually span a week or so of time and are incredibly free form. People can form groups or work on their own. The hackathon projects range from "features we had planned for our game" to "features that we've never seen in any game before". They've included new narratives, new takes on our world, completely new apps, and sometimes just new tech that we've been wanting to test out. Often times features are cross discipline: at one hackathon a person from every department (gameplay, art, design, platform) pitched in to create a "game within a game" concept that would be impossible to achieve with a typical game jam team.

I personally had a different experience with china, unless it was on pvp games. I have always enjoyed my experience with chinese people on co-op and community based games. A lot seems to be extremely community driven working for the team instead of the self. PvP games however was an entire different experience, often felt like I was getting bullied lol.

Assuming that this blog post is describing a feature that will be in palia, I might expect it to behave somewhat like this:

  • Game needs to select ~200 someodd people to show to you as you wander around a big town, to control lag.
  • The game could select people randomly/regionally, but this has a few drawbacks:
    • Higher chance of arguments in trade chat
    • You'll have fewer repeat sightings of the same player, increasing the sense that none of the people around you are real
    • It doesn't really guide you toward forming social connections to people, since you could find the same demographics walking down the street in your hometown.
  • Instead of picking 200 people randomly, maybe we start tagging each player with categories based on their behaviour, and the people they frequently group up with / join neighbourhoods with:
    • If you go hunting a lot, you get a hunter tag.
    • If you spend a lot on home decorations, you might get a decorator tag.
    • If you don't chat very often, but your friends list is very talkative, maybe you see talkative people more.
    • if you block someone, they're exempt from inclusion unless the server's really quiet
    • (more controversially) if you and your friends discuss a certain subject frequently while using positive terminology, maybe you get tagged as a fan of that subject.
  • Now when you need to pick your 200 people, you not only group by region, but you filter for potential compatibility between everyone. If you've seen certain people several times before, those people are prioritized so that the game feels more like a small town, rather than a big city

I can't give the details but well our group wanted to expand the lore in-game. We had our lead writer as the team lead. ^^

They gave us enough freedom to chase whatever we wanted, and guidance/resources to ensure it fit the story. Personally, it was ✨ SURREAL ✨ getting to write for a game. I've always wanted to do it, but I thought that ship had sailed.

I really love that the studio lets us chase things like that.

would give people in other time zones a closer frame of reference; like Americans generally know Pacific time is three hours behind Eastern time, so do Europeans knows that British time is an hour behind Central European time, Australians and Kiwis/South-East Asians know the times around there etc.
so also listing a single European and Australian time would be generally helpful
