I try to focus on small spaces and specific areas. I don't focus on one large room, but rather a small portion of a room. Like i'll look at a corner, and suddenly will put something down, and it might turn into a reading corner, or something with clutter.

Sometimes just thinking of a homeplan and messing with stuff like that, can help! To try to figure out "Well i know i want a bedroom here" or something, but usually keeping that very vague until you get to said room. Then like i said, try to look at it in small spaces/pieces.

Sometimes can even be like "oh i really like this piece!" and putting it somewhere, and trying to just surround it with things that you think look nice with said piece.

Without having a good way to turn furniture and stuff, it's hard for me to get into decorating. Esp since items have a hitbox and the camera being as it is just makes it impossible for me

I'm used to first person camera when decorating stuff or an overhead view

If we could get a first person camera angle it'd make decorating a lot easier since you could spot things easier too.

are you playing on switch or PC? There's a way on PC to make the top down housing into 3rd person character view and some people says that makes it easier with less character collision? and you also get a menu with all your furniture. If you're on switch like I am it's just about being patient enough unfortunately

The thing is you could end up going into first person at some point but they just, removed that feature entirely and the FOVs when changing the zoom are also messed up too

I play exclusively pc. Ik there's the menu for that and decorating outside. But trying to do that inside seems impossible, especially since there isn't an option to have the room disappear

yeah that makes sense cause the roof would be in the way. idk I figured decorating would actually be way easier on PC because it's annoying on switch but I've figured out all the things I can do with red presents and industrial wall shelves so I'm having fun at least while being frustrated lmao

I want real bushes but gardenias are not terrible. I simply want plain bushes at some point

I don't remember or recall ever having a first person mode for decorating. i've played since closed beta, and if that was a thing, it was never explained and i never saw it.

The only times it happens is if you angle your camera a specific way to not see your characters model, and even then, that still wasn't first person

Maybe, but at least in DDV you can get a decent amount of the premium currency free from chests and participation in the weekly contests. And I think the overall item pricing is less too. 🤷🏻‍♀️

i was going to try ddlv, but someone on youtube said to hold off on buying into it on the switch until after it launched to check the game's stability, heard from a lot of people in their discord channel that the game was constantly crashing so decided not to spend the money on getting early access and wait for the f2p version. then like a month before it released they came out and said that they were going to have the game be paid

So I think it's 300 just for submitting a photo, plus 50 for voting, and 450 in chests. Not too bad for a weekly allowance. BUT I will say, the chests can be a right pain to find a lot of the time. So definitely a ymmv on that! End of the day, it would be nice to have a way to earn in Palia too though. And have items affordable so that you can earn enough in-game to buy a little something every couple weeks. That's my only point here, LOL.

I always try to think of it time wise. If I put 100s of hours into something it was something that would of been worth paying for so Im happy to put some money towards it. not the best way of thinking about it but it helps me justify my crappy spending habits to myself :P

Kind of? It's aimed at Disney fans as a whole... And to be fair a LOT of them are adults. They've definitely pulled a few tricks, but they have also released a lot into the base game with no added charge. And the battle pass is free, but you can make it go faster by spending coins that you can earn free in game. I'm not wholeheartedly defending their model, but disinformation doesn't help either. Especially, when parts of what they're doing could help Palia too. (Like the earnable premium currency.)

Half of the battle pass is locked unless you pay, and its all the 'good' items, not the clothing sticker type things. Their player base IS a lower age group than palia, Im not saying adults dont play Im saying statistically more children play DLV than palia. What disinformation have I said? D:

as much as it hurts me to say this i highly doubt palia will go the free route. They even stated once they wouldnt do free cosmetics so them giving coins away? (they paywalled that too for 5 bucks but again you have to PAY to get the coins that barely get you enough to get the more expensive stuff)

Not always... It's just the streamers who talk about it like it's their job. Because it kind of is? From experience, 1200 to 2400 isn't too hard to get if you stack the odds. It's why a lot of the winners look cluttered... Just jam in as many keyword items as possible, hidden behind the pretty things and it boosts your score.

Just saying that the battle pass isn't cheap without clarifying that it can be free if you collect and spend free coins can be misleading for those who aren't familiar. And you're totally right; there are premium items locked, although I don't think they're doing the clothing patterns as much anymore since they weren't super popular. I could be wrong about the adult/kid thing, there was a report at one point saying it was mostly adults playing, but it could have been falsified for some reason.

I played for one year atleast and made my town pretty (before the dlc dropped) and once i had cleared everything for the dlc i lost intrest cause it was pay this so you can keep up with others!

They did, and I'll be honest, the expansions can feel a bit same same to the base game (with slight tweaks for variation) and don't exactly add a ton of "new" overall. Definitely pushing the limit on whether they're worth it or just FOMO bait.

I think people who were planning on outright paying for cosmetics would probably do so with or without ZLC. I think ZLC was more for savvy players, or players who couldn't afford premium items now having an option.

When an online game releases new content to me I like the excitement of it to not just be the new content, but how they build upon that new content

and considering the way things have been going this year, I don't think they have the manpower/set-up to do more than one thing at a time, so if they decide to do something new after that, they won't be able to build upon elderwoods at the same time

If I'm expected to grind in a game, I expect a HUGE dopamine payoff.
In Runescape, it's grinding a raid/boss for the rarest drops and achievements so you can have sick upgrades and show them off to your friends.
In Guild Wars 2, it's the achievement system for you guessed it, exclusive cosmetics and also crafting legendary armor/weapons to show off.
In Once Human, it's grinding out the best stats for your gear/weapon modifiers and high-level Deviants (pokemon).

In Palia, it's fishing for 300 hours so you can have a stupid fish plaque you can put on your wall that a few people will ever see.

(I also still want earnable cosmetics, I'm just fine with the bundles being decor rewards at this point. but the water bundle is a slap in the face compared to the other 3)

I think the nameplates should have been something we could have obtained through spending our renown since many of us are always capped and losing out.
Plus, nameplates don't relate to hometours imo anyway, they should have given us more things to purchase for our homeplot in the shop like furniture sets or recipes.

Id really appreciate it if they focused a little on stuff thats already in game like a way to spend renown or some new items for the guild stores, more things to buy with hometour coins, a reason for the 'give kudos', rewards for higher proffesion levels. I think it's okay to not have everything be easily obtainable on the first go. As long as you aren't paying for it. If the reward is locked behind difficulty, but there is no penalty for failure then it's fine. On other games there are achievements and rewards locked behind difficult puzzles and tasks. A game where everything is handed to me is boring. I mean the easiness of palia is why some players want combat to be in the elderwoods.

I feel like sometimes they listen to our feedback a bit too much. The whole theme of palia is obviously planned around an adventure guild. They can put in more adventure like quest. Just like adventure guilds, the adventurers are different ranks and get different pay outs. And if the lower ranks are jealous, they just have to prove themselves and rank up

Tbh I wouldn't mind being a decor item, if it was small. Chapaa piles and makeshift items require RNG to get those furnitures. This would make a lot of the completionist play the game more often to get the item, like they do with the piles. I would just suggest giving a recipe with it. The decorators hate only having one of each item

Some of the guild items are level capped, same with friendship items.

Guild items also require gameplay, in order to get them as well

The difference with these things though is that they are achivable by everyone (possibly boring for some but 100% doable for all) Compared to the parkor where you could give some people 100 hours and they still wouldnt be able to complete it (not arguing with anything just noting the difference :D)

That's why they didn't tie any significant rewards behind it cuz many other players weren't interested in it.

1. If the game required it, you would get an "etiquitte" video in the game. As it stands, all game etiquitte is fanmade and not accessible to people not in the know until they get yelled at

2. They could, as Kali said, have a camera in a different direction. Or, of how the game is made, you might not even appear on their screen so they wouldn't know you were there.

Would it be a bug or feedback if I think the preserve jar needs a change? Unlike other crafters, if you fill all three "export" slots with different items, it wont allow you to process more of one of those three items. It doesnt want to stack, for some reason, but when you have an open "export" slot, the preserves stack properly.

The 3rd slot doesn't continue to stack because there is a possibility to get a non star seed from a star plant.

So it is not a bug, the preserve jar just stops because there are 2 possibilities and you only have space for 1.

So you could suggest something in feedback, but I'm guessing they could only increase it with 1 slot but the problem would still remain....

Still, the game feels so barren imo. I honestly cannot recommend this game while games like Coral Island exist - and that game was a kickstarter / early access game as well. I think there are totally easy ways to control it without it feeling bad. Sure, I'm not going to have herds of animals like I do in Coral island, but I think limiting it to 1-2 cows, 4-5 chickens and making them a bi-daily gather or something while making the processing machines / aging barrels take a good chunk of time while giving a very large payout would be a nice endgame processing system to look forward to.

Also, providing a good gold sink in the game would be nice. I just started this game a few days ago so I don't know the gameflow for endgame, but yeah it really -really- needs ranching. Either that or another nice processing system that's more in line with the theme of the game. It's way too basic rn compared to other games.

Yeah, I'm not surprised. These games generally have a very steep curve at the beginning then once you get to a point where you're comfortably processing items it's pretty much over. Having it be an online game makes it really tough. You either have to just stay ahead of the playerbase in terms of developing content (which is impossible imo), or you need to put in fulfilling group content that has a nice loop (in conventional games it's a gear grind). However, the devs chose this system of game (MMO) so they really need to figure out a good gameplay loop for players to enjoy. I don't know anything about these "cake parties" but that seems something akin to group content.

I think the flow trees were a good idea too, so long as there are players around. I haven't opened up the mines yet. I do think there's a great answer here to keeping players filled with content. I haven't gotten too deep into the story, but I think the big challenge for the devs is to provide some thematic group content that fits well in with the game.

The only real group activity right now is chopping flow trees and hunting (because of the party buffs and rewards). And once you have enough flow wood and all the growable furniture, there's really no incentive to work with other people.

Hotpot is also another group activity, but the way it's been handled has made the playerbase kinda rabid.

I've been off game for 2 months because of computer problems, missing the game big time! But then I come back and find that I'm not playing a game that's in development, I'm playing a cash shop that's fully developed. How so I add rooms?

You purchase them in the city hall, then you open the housing menu in your plot (H for PC, think it's left joycon then X on Switch but anyone feel free to correct) and you will see the blueprints to the left, you connect them to your harvest house and then have to build it with materials

in addition, Each additional room of the same type does increase in cost but the materials remain the same. There are also things like doors, bay windows, and fireplaces that do not count towards your building limit (30 rooms total on one plot including the house) with limits of 15 rooms per house.

You’ll get the swing of things and if you ever change your mind, rooms can be picked up and put back in your storage when you start a new plot! 🤩

was on a empty server a few days ago and there were even less chappas, well or so far apart that the time needed wasnt enough for 25 - not even close.

I always thought the ability to have a bug garden in your home (Think a greenhouse-type enclosure) that you place starred bugs in, and they have a small chance to spawn new ones and be caught on your plot would be nice. Id like to be able to pick the specific part you tint, like how the sims 3 did. So we could pick different wood colours for wood parts and fabric colours for the fabric parts. Even if its still super restrictive colour options (although id of corse prefer it not to be :P)

Little tip!: Try to be the 1st one to find the Groves at 12am in Bahari. They ALWAYS spawn an epic bug, but people usually catch/scare them before others get there. If you wanna try to share it, you can say it in the chat before the Grove appears so they're aware!

but still have a tiny bit of hope that the reason they are holding back all the other decor tints is that they want to let us unlock them but still working on a way to let us unlock them
