A help wanted system in Palia would have been so amazing.
Why do the Kilima villagers feel like cardboard cutouts when you max out friendship quests?
When i talk about community boards, at least, i mean the actual in-game community board! Like your community has a big goal to work towards- maybe can give a temp buff or something. Like for RNG, more drops, etc.
I'd say housing or something w/ the community itself, but that's not a thing yet either
Like unlocking specific things that can be built, etc
But a wanted type board for palia would also be nice
When are we getting Palia player HoA's? /s
It would honestly be kinda cute if you had communities of players roleplaying upper-class neighborhoods and others roleplaying their homes as a trailer park.
"Is that a chapaa fountain on your front lawn? Oh, the HoA president is going to hear about this one!"
actually wondering what happened in their pipeline that the community stuff never saw the light of day until today despite them talking about it in august 2023 and may 2024
I imagine the presentation went like this "Head of S6 Management walks into the room and starts the slideshow. There is a title slide "Palia roadmap." There is only word on the next slide: Elderwoods. The entire staff room breaks out into thunderous applause. There is crying and laughter.
I have this dream of like... y'know in FFXIV, you basically have neighborhoods? I'd love that, but smaller scale for neighborhoods... and it's just a little village with everyone in your neighborhood's house in it. No idea how that works from a dev standpoint, but that is my dream.
Also hello. Work has been gross today, I hope discussions chat is going well.
This is sort of what i imagine when I think of a community plot
And what if there was a little board that, similar to the "help wanted", it's from your community members? someone asking for help that they need specific items for a bundle, and some other member could help and gift it that way?
I'd love some actual mutiplayer content. More minigames, not dependant on being in the underground at a certain time. Just things to do anytime you want. Also some actual development on the communities - right now they're just another chat filter.
Please 🥺 I'd actually be able to complete bundles
also, i forgot to respond to this but i agree. i felt like i could never properly experience hotpot bc of this. that and it was a bit eye-straining for me personally, sadly
I want there to be crime in Palia. I want to sell illegal flow furniture and gadgets with Zeki, and loiter on Eshe's prized garden.
I said the other day that I wanted to be able to make potions. Let me live out the fantasy of being a witch, THANKS.
Imagine me, a little rat witch in the woods. Lovely.
If they add combat (PVE I'm talking about PVE) then potions would be a great addition
Could even be where, instead of it gifting to the player, could be like "Help Wanted! X item for Bundle!" and it can just be gifted/inserted in the bundle itself. [well a confirmation window of course]. So it could even be starred items if needed
But then that would sadly defeat the purpose to some degree, because there are some skills some players can not do due to accessibility reasons
Palia needs more chaos, but in the healthy kind of way 🙂
Fishing, especially 🙃
The problem with the whole find/encouter to request it thing is that it doesn't fix the underlying problems that a request / trade system is designed to fix.
You know, some games have a "pity drop" system when you go dry enough on a drop.
Yeah this is what they did in Gaiaonline (man I'm old)
Even if it was limited in some way, i think that'd be fine. [like x amount of requests a day/week or something]. Just at least, something, that can help players complete bundles or finish what they're needing/wanting. Cuz again, like... Fishing is one of the main skills that a handful of players are locked out of. :[
The lack of pity mechanics are definitely an issue with Palia for sure, especially with how much of the game relies on RNG to elevate playtime metrics
I remember Gaiaonline, too! I never played it, but at least I know the reference. You're not old, you're just a seasoned player. ❤️
I wouldn't mind if it was limited, though I don't think it should be, because at least then disabled players would actually be able to play the game
I agree with you tbh. I dont' think it should either personally. like, i think it'd be fine, but i dont think it should be how it actually works, if that makes sense lol
I mean, the ability to do something like place down a "fishing net" on a location and just make it so they have limited durability and have to craft them would be cool too. You could make the chance at getting starred/rare fish slightly lower but make it a passive way for players with disabilities to get the fish they need for bundles/achievements.
it would actually be fun if they would manage to implement a way for them to temporarily increase the odds for fishing etc.
to have fishing events etc.
but that will very likely never happen
Yep. Roan, [enjoy your ears burning /joking] has some good ideas when it comes to the fishing net and some other concepts.
Boy, sure would be nice if S6 actually listened to any of these ideas though right?
I wouldn't mind fishing nets, but I don't think they should have lower chances for certain fish/qualities. Since every player would have access to them, it would only penalize the players who are forced to use them instead of active fishing whereas the players who can use both wouldn't have any negative affect really. Especially when fishing rng is already so bad /gen
Fish rng is already trash. Lowering that is just punishing everyone
Where's Roan and his idea for possible skill trees
The fishing rod stinks imo. I'd take a fishing net anyday
passive fishing farming would be AWESOME
what if the fish that spawns in one node is just predetermined and the tuning fork lets you track a specific fish
I just wanna fish without the risk of my arthritis flairing up
It's not like getting fish passively would destroy the economy anyways since the economy doesn't exist.
Just anything other then the fishing system we have rn really
Image of what Roan's ideas were with possible skill trees, that i glance at fondly: #💬│palia-discussions message
I only hunt and farm. But even hunting is such a mess
But how would that work? Since the fish is generated when you cast your rod
They would though. People play games because they want to play. If passive fishing was added and they don't engage with the active fishing, then that means there's something wrong with the fishing skill that makes players not want to actively do it.
The same argument is made for trading all the time. People want to play, so if they're not it's because there's something fundementally wrong with the system that is leading them to use alternative methods (whether that be accessibility or just because the thing isn't engaging or because it's not designed with player time value in mind)
Make a rare fish hook Everytime the lure is active?
just make the fishing nodes rare/epic instead of starred
That and make actual aquariums for them to live in, not the tiny goldfish bowls we have rn
I wouldn't mind something like a rare fish hook or super glow worms which guarantee a rare/epic fish which are only obtainable with guild coins
Going back a bit here but wanted to answer this because I feel it very much applies to me as well.
A lot of MMOs are very PvP focused / oriented. It's either a core feature of the game, or the end-game goal(s) involved a lot of player vs player combat. I was excited for Palia because it seemed like it would be more of a cooperative PvE type game where you could work together with other players instead of against them.
I am, however, very much someone who enjoys challenging themselves and working to be up there with "the best" at whatever I do. I joke it's why I don't get into games lightly, because I know I will obsess over whatever it is. But to that end, I need some kind of individualism / skill expression in games I play as well. I want to be able to do my part / role to further the group I'm playing with, which is why I've pushed so hard for different versions / forms of each skill, some kind of skill point tree to level up your character in unique ways, and group activities to actually encourage players like me who usually work best alone to group up to get things done.
Heck id even feed them whenever I'm on if it would give little rewards or smth
I just want something that's interesting
If I never have to fish again in this game, I'd be happy. In what world is it possible to spend 40 hours trying to get one fish. Fishing is stardew may be hard as all get out but at the very least, if the conditions are right, I know I'll hook the fish I'm looking for at least once.
I'm probably one of the few people that enjoys fishing in Palia
I'm happy for you/gen.
I wouldn't mind it...if it was accessible. Fishing is one of my favorite things to do in most games.
Aside from nets, there's plenty of other ways to make fishing more accessible without ruining the "challenge"
you could introduce mechanics to fishing bobbers, so that you still have to play a minigame, but the minigame is different.
So instead of the current minigame where you keep the fish in the target area by having to move side to side, you could alternatively choose to play a minigame like stardew's where it's just "hold/release/tap button" to control the safe zone instead.
There's a lot of minigame designs out there, not just those two... and if one is proving inaccessible to a large portion of players, maybe more options are needed.
But I respect the grind.
This reminds me of when DBD discovered their wiggle mechanic was inaccessible and they added an option to do skillchecks opposed to buttonmashing. That mechanic then became the default because it's not only more accessible, but players just liked it better
I don't even have arthritis and Palia's fishing hurts my fingers lol
... or maybe this is my wakeup call that I do
My original idea to balance this was something like:
- Rod Fishing: Fast, Efficient, Solo (but buffs for parties) - essentially as it currently is.
- Net Fishing: Slow, Requires 2-4 players (and gets easier / faster as you go up to 4) but lets you catch multiple fish at once when successful. More efficient than Rod Fishing but only if you can deal with the increased difficulty with the mini-game.
- Trap Fishing: Extremely Slow, Requires Materials / Crafting, but requires no mini-game and allows players to come back later.
For me it's the moving my hand side to side that makes it inaccessible. Cerebral Palsy pain gang rise 🤣
It doesn't shut out any kind of play style that way - you do what works best for you and your situation.
You're right. You'd be over there being the one true rat, instead, getting your sodie pop.

Remember, they're actually listening but it doesn't mean they have to implement it! /jk
i wasn't expecting me to actually have a sodie pop emote, but im happy i do
I'm good at being a rat (and I do have my diet coke).
My real interest in games like Palia is questing - WHOMP WHOMP - and decorating.
It's questing for me too. Big RIP
At least you've got the decorating part going strong 🤣
Here's the hoping that one day, building can look like Sims 4 in build mode, and I can put in a cheat like bb.moveobjects on and be able to move things freely without having to learn how to glitch.
This is what I really hope for. So much.
As long as they don't take 10 years to give us rounded rooms and pools... Or spiral staircases..
If you saw my quest log and plot you'd cry
Ah, good. We're all nicely game-traumatized from Sims then. Good.
As always, love this. your idea/concepts for skill trees are fantastic.
i feel like im one of the few people who never actually did that kind of thing with the sims
I only ever created characters and then got into decorating/house building
PSO2's creative space does something like this. You can place items in the air, clip them into each other, basically no real limits on where you can place objects. People have done some absolutely amazing stuff in that game
Most of my 3k hours on The Sims was spent on CAS or BB mode
I have seen things change for sure, just rarely in a direction I've liked / agreed with. A lot of the changes with Bug Catching for instance.
I just want to know what happened to the humans. All I can do is take the morsels of lore we have and do this 👇🏿 ad nauseum.
The only good change was rocks now being on a timer tbh
They did a lot of...questionable changes in beta, particularly with nerfs to money making - not from feedback though.
I'm still upset at the cake party nerfs. Lost so many ppl that way
I honestly hate that the solution to some skills being largely ignored is to nerf the popular ones.
But the patch that came around May buffed money making from a lot of skills
I will never forgive them for this. Not only because it was unnecessary but it was also so vague.
A lot of feedback implementation has been them changing something randomly without much reason (like lighting or fishing cast speed) and then slightly reverting/changing it when people mentioned that it didn't make sense
Gardening is still the big money maker so everyone is just doing that to make money
Why not just make bug catching and foraging more appealing somehow. Leave my mining ALONE omg.
Or like when they nerfed the starstones when the whole point was to make mining more profitable.
Fr
Yeah...but with some sizeable nerfs as well, if i remember correctly star stone drop rates were significantly decreased around that time
before it used the jam versions of the fruit, which cost more than the raw fruit, now it uses the raw fruit thus lowering the cake party
There's been like eleventy million mining nerfs.
I honestly wonder who at s6 thought nerfing the star stones was a good idea
I get it cause like playtime metrics. With the rng and making it hard to make gold, you can really make players trail along while you drop feed updates, but it definitely becomes noticable after the 7th nerf to something that just got nerfed 2 updates ago
With how little content there is tho, the nerfs just drove people away
I really do wish the feedback was categorized and put out front in a more public manner. While we're all obviously very vocal here so we know the changes we'd like to see, I've seen so many changes made to the game over the years that S6 attributed to "feedback" for things I'd never seen mentioned before.
My main issue with the nerfs is that there rarely ever seems to be some form of balancing? I think the closest we got to that was some prices being adjusted to reflect the rarity, but for the most part nerfs have just felt incredibly punishing.
I contest that the reason mining gained so much popularity was because palium became harder to come by and the prevailing wisdom was that you had to smash everything to spawn more paliums.
And we NEEDED Palium (quite a bit of it) for a quest
Honestly. If we ever get a CM again, I'd love to see a trello board for highlighting feedback and specifically when that feedback is acted upon so there's a clear paper trail of it.
Like I specifically remember a couple instances of things being removed from the game because they didn't receive enough positive feedback (but also no one was complaining about them) which is just like... What? Why?
I relate to this meme(/scene) more and more the older I get. help.
Especially when I don't remember seeing a clear mention of the feedback form in game, so the feedback logically had to come from people in the discord - so unless those people are silently writing in feedback, which i doubt, it's odd
Bizarre. And don't get me started on the reason for no more level 5 friendship. I feel like I'm in primary school again being punished because one kid acted up.
I am very excited for the CM spot to be (eventually) filled. I know many of us are, loool.
For all of these reasons.
If the CM has a more outward role as opposed to primarily with content creators, definitely. I hope it increases transparency and gets talk of accessibility in the development room
This is why I honestly hold so much contempt for the feedback form / command on here. There's no real accountability that it's being read, compiled, and acted upon.
I want transparency.
Exactly. Words only go so far, especially when action hasn't often followed them /gen
I'm so old I use to moderate on Gaia 💀
One of my first gigs along with GMing the Ragnrok online server that got me into Gaia
gaia crawled so palia could fly
You were also involved with Ragnarok? 😮
(fly with buggy wings, but still)
Specfically the biggest private server in the Philippines 😂
Ahhhh I see.
For context, we used to have 4 CMs.
One was a the (1) Senior CM, one had more of a role gathering feedback from Discord, creating things like the Wiki, lots of data collection and creating the online spaces (2), a CM that focused specifically on (3) content creators, and one that focused on (4) Trust & Safety.
The Senior CM + Trust & Safety stepped down within a couple of months of each other, which left us with two CMs. That's when you likely felt the shift of more focus on content creators, and theeen... lay off round one took the content creator CM, so we had one trying to juggle everything.
I think it's important for us to remember that because... when the CM role gets filled, let's remember to give them time to look at everything going on.
I got into it because the main character of the Ragnarok anime is named Roan, someone told me and I watched it, and then tried playing and loved it.
It was a 4-person team prior to all the staff changes happening, so... I'm sure their presence in here will be a thing, but there's also going to be loads of other stuff going on.
Naturally Roan was taken so I went by Ralis there, though I have no idea how that name wasn't taken considering Prince Ralis from Zelda!

Definitely. And being a CM and in that position is sooo tough.
Honestly, I wish them the best, no matter who it ends up being that fills the position.
Yeah after not having one for so long the new CM is going to have their work cut out for them. There's a lot of fires that need to be put out and repairing that needs to be done.
I was a CM, though on a smaller scale game, so I understand. It's a lot of jobs in one. I'm hoping that since feedback is now exclusively through the form that it will make gathering it easier
And I sincerely hope that the new CM gets more support from the company itself too.
I hope as a whole when/if we get a cm we give em a break like give em time to catch up before anything
It's one of those jobs that, because it's not directly creating the game or making them money... Companies don't seem to realize just how important they are and how much work they do.
I hope to see them in the accessibility channel as well. We had one that was just beginning to talk with us when one of the layoff rounds got them.
They don't understand how important it is for the community to feel heard.
Hopefully that's changed a bit with how active this channel has become in the last few months lol
CM roles are soooo important in online games. So I really hope they fill the position soon with someone with the mental fortitude to deal with such a rough, underappreciated position, and fairness/objectivity to deal with the uhhh kerfluffles about
I'd hope there's less focus on the content creation side of things and moreso on the "make the community feel as if they're not talking to a wall" side of things espec since as far as we've been told it's just gonna be one person
also I find it hilarious that DbD of all games made an accessibility change that Palia has refused to do after all this time
(I haven't played DbD though I've been asked, but I have heard.......a lot LMAO)
I also love that there's a toggle now to do gens, and just any interacts in general. It's helped me so much since holding down the button has been ... not great for me.
Anner I hope u know ur my favorite
I dunno how that happened, but hey...
(that looks like a heart but it's a handshake. That's me and you).
you know how there's a spearfishing thing in warframe? what if they did that in palia with the bow. it'd be funny as hell.
special arrow that you can recall at any time that you use to shoot into the water, and there's a chance you get a fish on it.

obvs no starred fish bc that implies the fish is alive.
Anner you are also my favorite /nodnod
also i heard gaiaonline.
Your sixth sense tingled, didn't it?
i work for trisphee, which is another avatar site. i go silly for avatar sites. i wish palia had some of that but i understand that modelling clothing is like masochism on steroids.
Shh you'll summon Naz
My favourite tutter
it's honestly surprising that i don't have a tutter emote
you see, ivan, i want the complexity of interconnected skills like wurm online, and i also want it to be as grotesque as possible.
LET ME EAT BUGS IN PALIA. SOME BUGS ARE EDIBLE OK.

cricket flour... let me make cricket flour. that'd be so cool.
Everytime I see those videos of people eating baked crickets, I get closer to being curious about what they taste like. I think if they were ranch flavored, I could eat behind it... I'm not against bug eating in Palia, is what I'm saying.
it's a way to get flour that doesn't involve zeki! i'd genuinely love for more options in regards to that tbh.
Imagine having a press (like those old wooden mills) to turn your grown wheat into flour.
Ooo yeah!

I feel your judgement and I don't appreciate it. /j

That was the very first thing that I saw when I opened chat
Ranch flavored crickets
imagine they would've shown us a mill in their beta trailer, unbelievable, right? /s
where did it gooooo
It went the way of the snail

and a brewing crafter
(will hopefully get a use when we get honey actually into the game to produce mead as mentioned in the flavor text of bees already but that would probably clash with the agerating)
and roundcorner rooms, different type of windows
apricots and wallivy were shown in their gameplay reveal livestream as well
The brewing crafter could be for alchemy but I hope we get a cauldron for that
the list would probably be a page long if not longer if one would actually look for everything shown in their promo stuff
Honestly it's amazing how accessible DBD is for the kind of game it is
There's a bunch of stuff from the trailers that never made it to launch lol
I swear there was an old trailer that showed ormuu on the home plot
Being held back for the content drip feed lol
Some things were in the game and removed while others just never existed.
Oh wow didn’t know about apricots /gen
The drip was too small
a lot of mmos more or less have alcohol in them. it's either censored in such a way that it sounds funnier, or just full on shown to you. see: the amount of bars.
Could go the ol sims 'juice' route
Dubious Juice.
A funny thing I saw in House Flipper 2 is a bottle that's suspiciously close to Jack Daniels and it's just a 'bottle'. But the item description is something like; "Totally just juice. Nothing else."
potion with a Dubious Juice base. (potion craft.)
Potions would be a great way to aleviate some of the ridicious RNG in the game though
Potionmaster Chayne.
Problem with potions to me is that buffs and such should have just been tied to food. >_<
Would rather see Animal Husbandry first for that reason.
id like animals like cows goats sheep make butter/milk/cheese/wool
if we were doing potions id prefer it in a coffee/tea/ juice bar type of way where you can make colorful looking ice teas and smoothies

Wat happened bout ever wood being updated in early 2025 of January it's like the middle of January
Early doesn't mean January could be the first quarter
No tiny come back
You word things nicely
in tiny we trust
I was about to write the same thing
I asked WC earlier if they were still on track with the fires and all but he didn't respond, might not have seen it.

where's that 'i pretend i do not see it' sticker
more fitting that way XD thank you!
Maybe it was something he can't answer IDK lol
What matters is you tried /gen
yeah, i do miss the validation that came with 'we see this question but can't answer it right now' that at least they knew we asked

no, but we'll come out with more elderwood info soon. it would be not so cool of me to preempt anything take this as zero indication of anything thank youuu
omg looking forward to that, thank you!
oh also to refresh it - we can pin S6 comments to that sixer-tracker channel but it's a manual process; if y'all see a response that is good to keep track of or share more broadly, you can poke us or send a modmail
i try to grab at least one from any of the answer sessions, and personally look for stuff that either is tantalizingly new or clarifies a longer running point, is relatively short and sweet, and is a standalone comment (some of the good answers rely on knowing the question, for example, and might be more confusing out of context)
Everyone on the team okay at least? it's a total mess over there
I wish we could get more than one growable seed for each item, sometimes the mid grow phase is cute and i cant use it if I wanna use more, also 7 days for each item to grow when i need over 50+ is absolutely painful. At least make the fully grown furniture tradeable or give u more seeds.
same.. pls give us more, i want to keep several tables from its phase before full grown
Its so painful because I can get one lamp every 3 1/2 hrs, and its gonna take me like 2 months at this rate to get the amount I need :/
same! im trying to make a section of overgrown area.. and its not even that big imo, but i havent even finished even though its been a week since i start growing them (mostly also i cant play more than 2 hours a day most of the time, but still) 😩
Its more grindy just to grow all the furniture than 90% of all the other stuff in the game I swear 😭
ikr! 😭
they should have the ability to lock an item in a cash register behind completing an achievement, because they did it for the winterlights shop. so it would be cool to see badruu selling extras in his cash register!
okay but can you tell us why you sent us honey then

it cant even be put in the storage!!! what is the POINT

I just finished Einar's final friendship quest and ||that cutscene!!! is someone cutting onions in here? why did that one hit the hardest? 😭 ||
mmmm coconut sago

I know but that's so janky I just want to understand why they would add a broken item with no use as a login incentive with zero communication about it
Is it supposed to be cheeky and cute? I just find it sloppy 😭
Yeah but the conversation isn't really 'oh look at this cool new item I wonder what future release its for'. It's more so 'what is this, I can't do anything with it, I can't even put it in my storage, is it a bug' 😂
just another thing to meme on cas they will forget
a bug... just realized what they gave us was a plushie of ...a bug. Ok, no mystery anymore, this is another item like the cylinder and the lettuce... Their sense of humor is a bit slow, even for me.
It was certainly difficult to tell if it's "this is a hint at an animal husbandry skill" or "this is our usual sloppiness." 🤷♂️
This is exactly what I mean
it is a bug, cause the game is bugged all the time. Ha.

Did someone say animal husbandry? Don't you dare get my hopes up!
You know what'd be a cool piece of furniture/building? What if we could buy a stable, and with said stable came a travel board like we see in Kilima/Bahari that would allow us to travel from our plot to any of the locations on those travel boards? I honestly wouldn't even care if it still cost gold.
I know mounts will also probably never happen in Palia, but I just remember how much fun it used to be in Albion Online hunting animals for a rare chance at a pair of baby animals like reindeer/sabretooth. Then bringing them back to your plot and raising them so they could produce mounts you could sell. Raising mounts is such a cool concept.
It could breath some new life into gardening/worm farms too. I like the concept of taking your crops and using them as feed for Ormuus for milk based on the value, or using worms/glow worms from a worm farm for Pekis and getting eggs based on which worms you used. Then an actual functional piece of furniture in a butter churn you could use for making butter from milk.
Not quite the same but in Pokemon Revolution, you could get a bike to travel around, and then also had the option to purchase cosmetic mounts in the premium store. If only we could have something similar in Palia, but alas.
S6 would actually have to come out with exciting updates for that to be a reality.
You could do a lot of cool stuff with the systems S6 already has in place for Palia. They just... don't? Instead we just get what seems like fresh paint on old content.
Like how cool would it have been to, instead of getting a|| candy egg|| every day from the gales bundle, we got an actual ||Silverwing|| instead that we could use in place of our glider that acted as an upgraded glider that could also produce a quick updraft to give us more distance?
Definitely. There's already some examples of "dead" content in the game, such as the renown and the rummage piles (up until they decide to add new recipes). It's sad because we can see the potential is there but... not much has been done with.
For the amount of effort they take, the bundles rewards are honestly pretty lame.
Specially the first one. Since the only real reward is ||being able to spend an eternity catching the ancient fish||.
The ||kitsuu shrine|| is unironically the best of the rewards only because you get essentially unlimited arrows from it. Earth shrine reward is OK too.
The only temples I felt were more "rewarding" were the Fire Temple and Roots Temple. But that may also be because the temples that came before were not great (Aka, Waves and Gales).
Yeah idk what they were thinking with the waves reward.
"Congratulations on doing all these tasks! Here's another task as your reward."
Yeah, I remember that was the one I grinded the longest for and went "That's it?"
I'd prefer in the future they revisit the bundles rewards and rework them.
Yeah. The only real reason I finished them was for the ||Emberborn Furniture|| and the Roots Temple reward. It also helped that Roots Temple was the easiest to complete.
They could have even done cool passive buffs. Like... for the fire bundle they could have made it so that Furnaces have a chance to make extra bars, and you also have a chance to get extra food from cooking since those are fire themed. Oceans bundle had a chance for you to save bait while fishing and now water lasts twice as long on your crops. Gales would be faster arrow and smoke bomb projectile speed. Earth would be chance for better yields while farming/mining.
And since player trading will probably never be a thing now, who cares if players who do the bundles are making more gold?
That latest social media post... 🥴
Those would've actually been great ideas, and would've made the Temples more interesting and added a new gameplay mechanic. If there is one thing I miss(ed) in this game in comparison to others was buffs, Stardew had them, Terraria had them, OSRS, but Palia? Only fishing ones.
And the smoke candle if you can count that.
Or, if I want to go down the route of tangible bundle rewards. Oceans Bundle: Players can now make the lures you have to buy from Einhar or something like players can now upgrade their fishing rod so that rare fish are now easier to catch. Fire: Players can upgrade their pickaxe so that it has a chance to automatically smelt ore as it's mined or turn stone to bricks. This can be toggled on/off per rock type. Gales: My glider upgrade idea from before that turns it into a ||Silverwing||. Roots: You now get a Galdur helper on your plot who will automatically spread fertilizer for you.
I'm curious, are those sernuk hats free or from the shop?
no 425 each, 3 versions
Oh... I see.
C'mon you already know the answer to that!
Yeah, my bad. I should have guessed it would have been a rhetorical question.
Idk if anyone actually wears those hats
They look cheaply made for being 425 coins...
According to S6, someone spent real money on them even though they're essentially reskins of the chapaa hat from the refer-a-friend program.
||no way i thought we were getting a free hat||
That's sad tbh
425 would be okay for them if they would come with all 3 versions
but no of course not, 1275 for all 3 smh
That's even worse lol
aw really?
I was about to say, they look like reskins of those
How much is 425 palia coins in USD?
$5
Thanks, I'd check it myself, but then I'd have to log into the game to do that.
So all the hats together is like 15 bucks or so?
$15 for a reskin of a free hat. Seems like a good deal to me!
1275 would be the 8.99 and 4.99 packages together so yeah $14
Yet we're the ones who "don't value their cosmetics at base price"
And they wonder why people aren't happy with the shop and only the whales are buying stuff. And how they're losing money instead of gaining
Also, it's funny that these are all Wintersfest themed hats when Christmas was 3 weeks ago.
It really isn't hard to make cheap prices at all but they refuse entirely 😭
Even wizard101 isn't that greedy. I can at least buy some sets for gold and even farm outfits if I wanna
It's like when big box stores put all the Christmas stuff on retail the week after, except these aren't even discounted.
They really could've made these part of Twitch drops or something.
Mhm. Stores around here are getting ready for February and Valentine's day
I would say S6 is being greedy but I feel like I'd be preaching to the choir.
Idk if s6 ever released anything for Valentine's, didn't they?
I don't remember them doing anything for Valentines so probably not.
S6 missing opportunities? Never.
Yeah never. I mean they totally do something for every holiday right?
Yep. And every system in the game is really well thought-out and works as intended. Just look at focus and communities.
I think my best hope at this point is that another studio comes out with a game artistically like Palia except better in every way.
iirc they sent like… some items for npcs ? like chocolates but i could be wrong
nobody made a joke about a 'hat trick'?
Is the joke that the 3 hat bundle costs the same as buying all 3 of them separately?
Oh odd. I thought someone said the bundle was 1275
but no just that there's three things, and three goals in a hockey game is a hat trick
this is a hat and some folks felt tricked by the ad post
it is (or is intended to be, bugs aside) so i had to check because i saw some folks saying the 1275
Yes, and if you already own one of the pieces from the set, the price of the other two is halved for you
if you buy one piece, the second and third are each discounted by half. so buying all three either way is the same price
Same price both ways
yeah I did, forgot that they were generous (
) and bundled them for 849
My favorite "holiday" sale they've done is still the anniversary of Alpha that was actually halfway between the anniversaries of pre-alpha and alpha 🤣
Didn't they originally want to ditch the half price rule for the beekeeper outfit but then changed their mind and edited the patch notes?
nah they definitely just messed up their patchnotes
The best way to save money on the premium shop is to not buy anything at all
But mah pretty outfits
Masculine outfits when?
Do we get hats if we log in now? Palia posted 1 h ago about national hat day
No they want you to buy them

You do if you buy them from the premium store 🙂
So generous of our overlords at S6 to bring these hats to our attention so that we may go to the store and purchase them.
No Cap!

I'd grow anything to feed some ormuus.
On that note, I'd love to be able to get more soil plots.
Honestly, animal husbandry and more plot spaces would be enough to make me want to log in again.
nah pls no more soil plots
more soil plots = adjustments to gardening income = more work
Well, I'd appreciate if they did rework gardening a bit. 9 soil plots is a bit limiting.
Just don't put in the extra plots if you don't want the extra work.
I'd personally love to have more farm plots so I could experiment with more garden layouts and have better afk profits.
Did they move?
You just don't want to rework your build to accomodate more, lol
Which, fair.
if I want to play a farm sim I start a new sdv farm honestly
that's all 🤷♂️
idk a tomato that yields 1 gold bcs u can have 40 soil plots, not fun
and we all know that they will nerf gardening to the ground if they ever increase the amount of soils
Well, SDV is a much better game so 🤷♀️
But that's just because S6 is somehow anti-fun. And for some reason they hate giving players the ability to make a lot of gold in a game with a gold cap, no economy, and nothing to buy aside from Zeki coins. That's on S6.
True, they do like to quickly nerf things into the ground. looks at starstones
We're not saying to have 40 soil plots, but at least a few more would be nice. Specially if they consider adding more crops.
Not like us wanting or saying we want more soil plots means they'll actually do it either.
12 plots would even be nice. That's like, 33% more. I don't see the big deal.
Yeah precisely.
A bunch of people also have been asking for more soil plots for decorating/building purposes.
It's boring that 90% of Palia is now a dress-up game (That you have to spend real life money for) OR a house decor game. Like... why can't people that actually do the skills have more to do?
I think just adding a few more [esp to keep it more even to be the square, im bad with math rn forgive], wouldn't be that bad, personally. Esp considering they keep adding more n more crops.
I also still would just like plots that are smaller in size [like just a small row of 3], so i could have specific things on display. doesnt even have to give anything, but it'd be nice for that.
I don't rly think it'd make it feel more "farm sim" than it is already, but that's at least how I feel personally! I can understand not wanting more in case it does feel more focused on gardening/farming, tho, esp if that's not something you like doing.
Like, Dragon forbid S6 program another bug or fish into the game or give us upgraded tools because that would require effort on their part.
also, what's wrong with having a farm on your cozy game? What if our idea of cozy is being self-sufficient and taking care of animals/crops?
Specially when there's games where you can have all of these options.
i know the 'math' for gardening can become a lot as well, lol. like, the 'buffs' that crops give to ones next to it, etc etc.
which that is at least daunting to think about for me
A terra cotta paver with flowers placed JUST right almost makes it look like a bit of soil
I gave up on all the buffs. So long as it self-waters, I'm pleased.
I like when people use their imagination to make cool and interesting things. I just wish that more decorations actually served a function 😦
More furniture interaction would be nice too.
Like there is 0 reason why S6 couldn't make it so that you can plant quality foragables in a plant pot. Maybe even make it like acorns so where when you water them they eventually give you another "seed" to plant so you have a renewable source of dari cloves/heat root/ etc.
heck, just put TWO sitting locations on couches
Same, really. It got to be too much for me lol, esp when they kept adding more crops. it got overwhelming.
Same. I only care about self watering and maybe anti weeds for my apple trees.
Not much of a point in star quality past level 25 anyways.
"i like these crops and i want to get more, but in order for this i have to get rid of these, and i have to move them on this square and i just
"
It just got too much. it's why i want more soil plots, cuz it would at least help me in that regard lol
It's also one of the QoL updates I think S6 could actually reasonably manage with how bad their track record of updates is lately.
Also, I wonder if S6 makes their social media updates misleading on purpose at this point.
yeah guess a few more could end up being nice if they consider adding new crops
I just hope that they won't nerf everything into the ground
e.g. strawberries, apricots, lettuce and the other berries that were on the "any jam" icon to name the ones I'm allowed to name
Yeah, like as long as things dont' get nerfed to the ground... that's def always a concern
I understood this at first as if there was lettuce jam and... yeah.
Don't forget this
#🐦│social-feed message
maybe reth has lettuce jam hidden in his room
yeah that's the "any jam" icon I meant
it was used in game for the old celeb cake recipe
strawberries are not real, they don't exist
I'm hoping for an update that overhauls gardening and adds those mills from the trailer and beekeeping
but i don't want gardening to change i just want it to get bigger
I want more crops
absolutely yes please
there's quite a few standbys that would fit real easily into the current paradigm. flour mills, oil presses, butter churns and cheesemakers, honey separators... list goes on and on
Due to varying VFX settings among players, snowballs can cause a flashbang effect, so please refrain from throwing snowballs at known or unknown players without their consent. It may trigger seizures, migraines, or nausea in photosensitive individuals when hit due to the flashbang effect.
It will feel bad to get more crops without more garden spaces tho
Rotational planting, like I do
Do those sernuk hats come together as one set or are they separate purchases.
Seperate
Separate.
Wow. ok.
This is the full set and how much they are separately ^
[ty evan for the image]
imo, they're not different enough to warrant being sold separately, but what do I know.
I agree.
idk why such basic hats are sold for winter
pokes head in Welp, game is still broken, they're still shilling the cash shop over everything, no new content........see y'all in another couple of months! lol
It doesn't bother me that they're basic tbh. I prefer minimalist designs, but like.... they should be different colourways of one hat.
Tbh maybe it's just the point im at in the game, I find it almost an entirely useless feature and just plant for high profit low effort lol
Lol my friends I invited to play palia are the same, they look at every update and go meh only cosmetics, maybe next update 😭
Yeah, I SO wanted this game to be amazing, and it so could have been, but now it's just sad. 😦 Time to focus on other stuff. Hopefully some other studio will take what they did here and improve on it in another game.
well some ppl are just posting the same thing on the reddit...
absolutely agreed, it was such a bummer reading the "425 each" line in the patchnotes
especially bcs its the same model with just a different texture
They should've been 200 each like the dice emote or even better a Twitch drop
200 for all 3 honestly (or 1 with the 3 colorways)
The very similar looking chapaa hat is free
I have no idea why there's three of the same post up and why people think those things look like potato pods but eh if it makes them happy lmao
i guess. those things have been around for years tho lol

I really wish the game had kept their promise of genderswapping being possible with full customisation... I kind of hate playing just because of how dysphoric my character makes me now
I've never agreed with so many of an individual's comments before. Logical and practical changes which should be made in Palia. I hope they consider/read over the suggestions you mentioned... But something tells me it will sadly be overlooked shakes head
you can change your gender and apperance at the mirrors in Jel's shop for some time now unless that isn't doing it for you

You can only change it like every 3 days though. It doesn’t let you freely swap it like you can with hair etc.
Well thank you for the kind words that made an otherwise disappointing night much better 🙂 I hope you have a good night!
Just being honest, Derpson - I'm quite sorry to read you've had a rough day/night and I wish you a much better/positive one tomorrow. You have a better night, you hear? Take care and keep bringing in those great ideas 🔥 \
tbf who doesn’t like pickle
flow powered automated everything!
flow powered irrigation to water my wheat that i can turn into flowr with my flow mill (assuming my flowtatoes and flowmatoes aren’t doing the watering work for me.)
So does Palia think they're the new Dress To Impress or something bc they've lost the plot entirely
Every post I see is just premium shop, premium shop, premium shop
agree that not every ask can be granted at once, and that making progress little by little is better than no progress at all. With that said, my question is What type of business is Palia aiming to be in the end? If it is not going to be a subscription or pass based one, is it going to be a boxed product? Is it going to be based in micro transactions? Is it planned to keep the "pay a big chunk per cosmetic release"
WC said that it's not gonna be an upfront price nor a subscription. A pass is under consideration but not a priority.
I started playing an open world game with similar activities within, that has been just released last month and the way it is set up, you have many options to purchase from $5 to $99 that include cosmetics, crafting materials, game currency etc that not only make you "spend" to enjoy for a moment but make you want to keep playing. What does prevent Palia to adopt that model?
exactly, every option suggested here has been a "nope" "not happening" and "not a priority".
#💬│palia-discussions message This is what WC said about it some time ago. Essentially, the model will remain the same it is currently, with some options for those who "don't value the cosmetics at base price".
Imo, it's just a matter of short-term profit vs long term profit. But hey, I guess if people are willing to spend $5 dollars on a singular hat, then I'm none the wiser.
Those hats are a joke
They really are. But again pointing at what WC said, someone will pay for it so 🤷♀️
I was hoping that would have changed with time. In my case I was hyped with each release while I still had game story to play. Once I caught up with the main story and side quests, the feeling started fading. Even with the last arc of the prologue; I personally felt that my purchase was not worthy 😒 I am not making a complain like "give me my money back"; I am being honest about how I feel about a game that got very close to my heart.
Lol even as a person who buys the $30 outfits that was a bit too ridiculous for me. The value is not there
Even as someone who's shilled out on the Sims kits (once), it definitely isn't.
like I wouldnt mind paying $5 for 200 flow tree planks... or 50 apples.... that's a bit more rewarding than a hat. I could keep crafting, and playing more
I really feel you on this. I only made one purchase, which was the capsule bundle because it seemed the most value for my money. And while I don't regret it, I share that sentiment of being disappointed at a game you had such high hopes for drilling itself into the ground. I was hoping things would change too, specially after Elderwoods but that's long gone by now and even moreso after WC's statement.
That's P2W and not exactly what I'd like to see.
Cosmetics don't impact gameplay and a paying player has no advantage over a F2P player
Obtaining these resources through gameplay is more rewarding than just shelling out cold hard cash for them
i still buy the sims packs to "catch up" cause I grew up with that game and once you get the packs you dont have to worry about downloading mods or CC that are not compatible
It's not really P2W imo, because there's no competition in this game. There's no economy, no real endgame aside from decorating at all. The cosmetics are essentially just a flex on how much you've spent on the game.
Not shaming whales, but it brings back to the conversation of, if cosmetics don't do anything, then at least give us something that feels earned, like skill cosmetics.
I completely get that. I just purchase the packs on sale because the base game is so bare bones. But again, at least they add gameplay.
that is if everything is given for a price since the start, I mean something like "you cannot purchase an item you have not gotten by yourself prior"
or "there is a limit to how much of an item you can purchase per month"
You know how they could actually implement this with something in game already? The renown.
Yes. I almost capped the renown and there is nothing to spend it on
yes! I think I capped on that too and when I used it, it really didnt feel much of a difference perhaps cause i was still focused in Hodari's love pin xD
so far they've been trying to stay close to the original promises, that players would never be able to buy what they could earn, nor earn what they could buy. so i wouldn't expect to ever see materials available for palia coins
I was about to cap before I stopped playing and had already maxed out and purchased everything you could with it. They could do so much more with it.
i mean, Zuckerberg said once he would not sell ads on FB... then that had to change to not put FB behind a paywall and that is technically what has been keeping his stall open
But Palia doesn't have that problem, at least not yet. Plenty of people pay for the cosmetics
social media and games are very diff thing tho.. i dont think that's a fair example/comparison
That is good to know. Then why dont they open more slots to keep putting more decoration? That is another major reason to keep playing
i mean in an infinite multiverse, sure, everything's a possibility. but i'd expect to see them pull way more levers before they got to that point
I did not mean to make a straight comparison, I see both as a digital service business and that is a very broad definition
if the point is just to say that we can't 100% trust their promises, that's fair. things change along the way, and especially with the new management we can probably see some shake-ups. but i'd expect them to close up shop before they changed their approach that drastically for theoretical returns
not to mention the damage that would do to the player engagement and incentives
Due to varying VFX settings among players, snowballs can cause a flashbang effect, so please refrain from throwing snowballs at known or unknown players without their consent. It may trigger seizures, migraines, or nausea in photosensitive individuals when hit due to the flashbang effect.
right, nothing is really settled and even once a game is fully released it is still a long way to keep it alive. Of course we would want them to be a #1 and that is why we talk in here
i would gladly buy any and all Palia ebooks or novellas they'd care to put out
there's zero competition between players, so it being a bit p2w in regards to who progresses faster is perfectly fine by me tbh. same as warframe, you can buy things to speed your grind up, but ultimately unless you go to the severely underplayed pvp modes, it won't affect anything but your personal progress.
Sadly this is where a roadmap would be very much appreciated and something player's have been asking for a long time.
We know that the devs have had their hands-full due to the layoffs, working on Elderwoods, aside from other internal factors we may not be aware of. The shared sentiment for many players is also that of S6 not listening to feedback since we're not sure if there even is someone compiling it or how they're planning to implement some of it (if they are taking it into consideration).
additionally, i just failed two gogdamn recipes without any ability to even recover - butter is expensive, dammit!
honestly i might make a video that queries some of the community about concerns.
My theory is that the big dogs at S6 view too much transparency as a bad thing, but instead of just giving a moderate amount of transparency... they give none. AND Y'KNOW, after everything we've seen from the gaming industry, I really thought we'd be farther ahead than this... but.
I know there's a lot of other factors at play, but I really think that's a big part.
i'm more concerned for the employees. the possibility of having to crunch just to keep your job is never too far away, especially when management wants things done now.
was just thinking about that on my walk home from work, it would be nice if they would show just snip-its of what they are working on to help entice players to think about coming back. is there a new npc in the elderwoods? if yes, show the picture of the character. we don't need a name or anything about them, just a picture of them would be enough to get people to talk about it. are there new fish? why not show a 5-9 second gif of an area in the elderwoods with a character catching a new fish. we don't need to know what the fish is, just show us the picture of it. let us know that there's actually something worth the wait
We've been asking for a taste of a roadmap since pre-alpha, so I feel all the pain. I get the hestiation around doing it, because "what happens if S6 can't deliver"... but eeeh, I dunno, I think there's a healthy balance.
And of course this. It's been a concern since the first wave of lay offs, imo.
so far they've been trying to stay close to the original promises, that players would never be able to buy what they could earn, nor earn what they could buy
they gave us an outfit for playing on switch for free and turned around and put it in the cash shop for real money, they already broke this promise. they never said it would be paid at a later date when they released it, they just said it might return in the future but with no plans at the time. just the same generic message that all of the twitch drop exclusive furniture has.
And also the FOMO owl pet when they had said there was not gonna be FOMO in game but, "some people love this sort of stuff".
Not to be a piece of stale bread, but I get what they mean... there are players that really like "exclusive items", I just don't know that Palia is the place for it.
Gestures to when Overwatch 2 re-released the Mercy skin for breast cancer awareness and the people that had the skin previously lost their minds.
OW is obviously =/= Palia, but y'know.
I definitely get that too, I just think for many people it's come across as disingenuous.
I had originally hoped the leapfroggy outfit would make its way to being a twitch drop personally 🤷♀️ back when we still didnt know if it would return or not. or become a permanent item for linking to xbox/playstation, since the switch has the mushroom glider permanently
I don't mind the Twitch drops as much, and honestly I wish they would give us more "free" cosmetics through them such as with the palcat glasses. Maybe make them return after some period of time.
I know it's not gonna happen but one can dream.
Hang in there with me 'cause I swear it's related, but Sims 4 just did their little... 25th anniversary announcements, and they announced that they were adding a lot of new base game content, and they re-did the townie houses from base game...
I kinda wish Palia did that with the Elderwoods release.
Like... give new color swatches to the outfits, maybe throw a couple new ones in there with new hairstyles.
Just give it a refresh for people, y'know?
House styles to match the furniture lines when?
Yes, I was just thinking about that too! As many gripes as I have with the Sims 4 (and EA as a whole) they've been making a somewhat decent job of refreshing the base game. I mean it's been 10 years but, it'd be nice if Palia did that too.
It would also make mix and matching a whole lot easier and some outfits feel lacking in color options.
They're like 8 years late with some of their updates, so y'knoooow... if Palia did it now, they'd be on time.
I just think the returning & veteran players deserve it.
I had forgotten about the switch outfit, in my head that's a different enough acquisition from 'earning' but it's definitely good for folks to call out when they might be nibbling around the edges of what's okay
2025 and still no spiral staircases
it's earning it as much as any twitch drop is, tbh. and twitch drops have the same phrasing as the leapfroggy outfit did. so since they already went back on their word they could put the palcat glasses in the shop next if they wanted to, following their own categorizations
If the founders windmill winds up in the shop I will dig out my pitchfork
In my head they couldve simply rereleased it as a celebration for the anniversary of the Switch launch. To make it feel, special I guess.
They'll have to give out more exclusives if they want that to be a cashing-in avenue
yeah exactly, they could have used it as an incentive even if it was time-limited every time, but instead they used it for quick cash
i think we have established they have weird understanding of *anniversary"
Anyway, I had brought up their statement about earning versus buying because of a suggestion made that folks should be able to buy materials for real money, and it's a far cry from putting a promo 'fit into the shop afterwards imo
I actually don't agree, because they also tested the water with putting furniture (albeit a plushie) in a physical item sale despite the same monetization blog saying
If you visit someone’s awesomely decorated house, you’ll know they earned each piece of furniture
(and plushies weren't tradeable when this decision was made, so that's no excuse)
the entire monetization blog means nothing in my eyes anymore, they advertise "limited time items" and do the other things I mentioned, that was already a large part of why people trusted them with the blog
crylaughing at the sticker name

that is the day by day of game developers... sadly
that is a way different situation because despite of those missing updates that game has been widely playable during all those 8 years. People is used to fing bugs in games; the annoying thing is not being able to play the little content it is released each time in this case.
The big lull in not only the server, in game and many other palia communities is lowkey terrfiying?
I do really enjoy the game and what I myself have created and gained from palia, but I do have a lot of issues with the lack of clarity to updates, bugs and communication overall.
It was dying a bit before the holidays, but now it seems like a ghost town in the server.
They need to bring us some good bug fixes, great content and actually listen to their player base. The last few months of updates have been really mid. Lacking decent content and very upsetting in the fact they show off one thing and its not close to what we recieve.

Yes! I have a discord Palia community and it all started a couple months ago.. My poor lil community is a ghost town now.. Its so hard to keep people interested when all they run into is bugs.. Running thought the cliffs on the map like the map hasn't rendered, chat not working, flash bang snowballs, items disappearing from plots & without a picture, wont be replaced...
Of course we always report bugs.. But its not looking great for the community at the moment.. That elder woods update cant get here fast enough

Good morning everyone! I have a feeling today is going to be a good day!
it certainly will be a good discussion day later today
Is it only temporary? Ig it's better than nothing
we can change our appearance once every week, reset is on weekly reset so monday 4am UTC the change is permanent as long as u don't change it back
Hey that still works for me, I'm happy wirh that
I think we're both on the same side here! I never meant to imply that Sims and Palia have the exact same issues, lol. I was just bringing up things that Sims has done to refresh the base game to suggest that Palia could do something similar. That's all.
Does anyone else like listening to elevator music while working? No? Just me?
My go-to when I need to focus is usually video game / anime music, harder to get distracted if something either has no lyrics or lyrics I can't understand 🙂
For some reason I've just been really in a Japanese Jazz phase lately.
If you count bossa nova as elevator music, yes
Are we expecting the Jan update announcement ?🤔
I'd look for it next week at soonest. Last year they didn't release until the very end of the month.
Nah. I'm just trying to be optimistic today 🙂
in 4 hours yeah
luckily they give away the next patch date with their login reward periods (enddate +1 day) and were consistent with it last year for every patch (except the november one which got delayed and january bcs we had no login rewards before the january patch)
My go to music while working is listening to instrumental piano melodies.

u've mistaken me with TinyDragon, me thinks haha
He's the glitching expert Tiny
I'm the Palia Knowledge Tiny (who also likes to overanalyze stuff
)
I always wondered if you and TinyDragon were just alter egos of the same person
I definitely did that. Man, if only yall had very distinctly different avatars to keep me straight....
I'll go now.
u are definitely not the first, so no worries
(happens quite frequently haha)
I can’t wait to see what the elder woods has in store for us!! 😀
In.... store? Premium Store flashbacks In all truthfulness though I hope we see some new mechanics/systems with Elderwoods!
Not in store premium, but 'in store' in general. I'm looking forward to what else will come with the elderwoods map.
I really hope that the whisperings on here are true and we get ||potion-making|| but I also hope that they add a little more depth to it than other skills/activities.
That would be super neat!! 😀
Yeah, once you have a house you’re happy with, it gets a little bland.
What kind of potions would you all like to see in the game?
Multiplication??? Use a potion to multiply any object.
That includes furniture
And limited items
😅
To have multiple kitsus
Then you can make a vacation house, and a palace, and a lake house.... Etc
Yeah, I kindof want to just make a bunch of houses and make my own little neighborhood on my plot now lol
Hehe 😅
Well damn! 😂❤️
Some I can think of off the top of my head, assuming there will still be no combat:
1.) Potion of Focus regeneration: Expensive to craft, but gives a steady flow of focus that lasts for 5 minutes so that you can get full exp without worrying about eating food. Also saves inventory space. Could also provide more focus depending on quality of food used as an ingredient.
2.) Hunter's Potion: Uses Elder Sernuk, Magic Muujin mane, or Azure Chapaa tails as an ingredient. This potion acts as a hunter's horn for these specific creatures but also lets you see them through walls.
3.) Bug-beegone: Duration is affected by the quality of bug used. A weak repellant that will keep common/uncommon insects away but not rare/epic bugs.
4.) Farmer's friend: Place this in a worm/glow worm farm and any fertilizer produced instead creates yield-up fertilizer OR a new hybrid fertilizers (weed block + hydration, quality + yield up, etc.) for higher-level potion ingredients. Made with Jams or Crops.
I wish there were more mermaid like furniture. I’d love to make a mermaid plot. 😂
Ohh!! You could probably make a mermaid cave
H2O 💜 style
I like 1, 2 and maybe 4.
Don't like 3 😅
I can see where you're coming from. 3 could probably do some grief-y stuff lol
Maybe a Glow effect for bugs to see them better.
And a map reveal potion (1 for insects, 1 for hunting, 1 for foraging, 1 for mining)
The map will reveal everything on it for 5 min or something
Luck potion that buffs RNG for everything
Bubble storm potion. Once tossed in the water creates a massive bubble pool where fish gather. And you can fish in it star quality fish for 10 min
As far as your duplication potion idea, I really like it. What about something similar except "Potion of Fortune": Choose a tool to pour this potion on. All resources gathered with this tool have a 10/20/30% of being doubled for 5 minutes. Tier affected by the quality of ingredients used. Iron for 10%, Silver for 20, Gold for 30.
Oh that's also nice
Alchemists Potion: Any ore gathered has a 5% chance of being turned into gold ore. Lasts for 3 minutes.
Fun potion.
Glow in the dark potion.
Once the character drinks the potion the character will glow all night. Only works at night.
Due to varying VFX settings among players, snowballs can cause a flashbang effect, so please refrain from throwing snowballs at known or unknown players without their consent. It may trigger seizures, migraines, or nausea in photosensitive individuals when hit due to the flashbang effect.
That sounds like a premium feature potentially
Badruu's Buddy: Pour this potion over a crop plot. It reduces yield by 90% but turns the crops in this plot into giant versions that sell for a large amount of gold and can also be used as furniture. (Tomato table, Corn cob couch, Apple armchair, Blueberry bench, etc.)
Flow potion. Another fun effect for witchy witches.
Once consumed, the character emanates flow all around (like the grove) for 15 min or so
That would be cool. Tomato chair
Flow-No!: Oh no! This flow-infused elixir is unpredictable and using it will transform your character into a random Kilima villager. Use with caution: (Disclaimer: Turning into Kenli will not make you the mayor.)
Do you mean like the effect from the sorcery outfit
Nah, like the sparkly grove
Flowglobe: Cannot be consumed due to dangerous levels of flow contained within. However, it can be shaken to change colors. Additionally, can be placed on a ceiling to act like a magical disco ball.
I'm honestly surprised Palia doesn't have a disco ball yet. Also, color-changing floor tiles would be amazing for a dance floor.
Well people would buy the dance move more maybe.
I hate the dance move though and the end is... No words to describe it 😅
I just wish we could have our own farm animals. 😂🙈
Is it tea emote levels of questionable?
I feel like I could write an entire reddit post on an animal husbandry system in Palia at this point and all my ideas for it.
The tea is just... Ugh I don't even want to remember the sight it's almost making me nauseous seeing it 😅
Close... if you have ever watched Gerard Butler's Phantom Of The Opera, it's close to the guy voguing in the masquerade scene
Ooo, I’d love to hear about it.
I meannn Badruus family has farm animals 😂 why can’t weee have some lol
In addition to getting a self-sustainable source of eggs/milk/butter from Pekis/Ormuus, I could see animal husbandry also being an opportunity to capitalize on the relationships we build with the villagers.
1.) Animals could get "sick": And we would have to figure out what's wrong with them and make a homemade remedy for them. The upside of this system is that using the best remedy would increase their next byproduct yield. After doing the ||level 4 friendship quest with Kenyata||, you could also call on her for help and she would give you hints on what would be the best remedy to make.
2.) Pekis could peck through their enclosure and get loose and Ormuus might need replacement horseshoes. You would need to craft new chickenwire or horseshoes to replace them out of copper/iron as well as needing to corral the Pekis back or comfort the uncomfortable Ormuus with emotes. After doing the|| level 4 friendship quest with Nai'o||, you could call on him for help to corral the Pekis or comfort the ormuus (These are separate events that have a chance to happen.) Upside of this system is that it raises animal happiness levels which increases the frequency of byproducts.
That would be awesome!!
Animal husbandry wouldn't just be "Here's a new building for your animals, here are some new animals. Have fun!" It would actually require maintenance and responsibility like taking care of real livestock.
I also wish they had jobs for us rather than just quests. Like being eshes private chef, or helping out with mail delivery etc. Kindof how the sims has where you can sign up for different jobs. That would be neat.
Yessss. I low key wish gardening was a little more difficult where you had to tend to them and nurture them more than just throwing fertilizer and watering and calling it a day. Lol
I was hoping that S6 will eventually expand the guild system to work that way with "Guild Contracts" where you can assist the various NPCs like Reth with helping cook in the kitchen during rush hour. Or Auni's bugs have gotten loose again and he needs you to catch specific ones and place them back in his enclosures. Of course new rewards would be Guild tokens and Guild Master clothing sets (Either purchased with a large amount of guild tokens or random chance to be received from guild contracts) that would level up as your character levels up their skill.
Yes! That would be amazing! I love the cooking portion of the game, but what’s the point of doing it if you already have enough focus food? I just want to make some for more quests and it could easily be turned into a mini game or job something. I like the idea of catching bugs, you could also throw Tamala in there because she uses them frequently for her potions. ^^
Examples of Guild Master Clothing: A Bug Catcher outfit. Level 1: No particle effects. Level 2: Outfit has a silver lining and an idle animation where small months flutter around the character. Level 3: Outfit has a gold lining and rainbow-tipped butterflies flutter around the character.
Animal Husbandry could also be a food-sink. Made too many Petit-Fives for your weekly achievements? Throw them in the slop trough so that your pigs can use them as food.
Yes!! 100%
Speaking of food, lunch time!
Same! Lol
Well, now that Nintendo has shown it off, what do we think we'll see first this year: Elderwoods or Switch 2 release?
Elderwoods
Switch 2 will probably not happen before summer 😭 I want it already ;-;
I thought it's was gonna come late Spring. Now I'm thinking late summer through mid fall.
who wanna to know the number of main quests in palia?
There's supposed to be Palia news today?
we shall find out in 24 minutes
i would say the switch 2 would be a nov/dec release. feel anything else would be too early of a release considering that we won't get more information until the nintendo direct in april
Yeah "Holiday" is probably the most reasonable prediction but I can hope.
Do they come out with news on a schedule or are there leaks or smth I have no idea what's what anymore
nah its just the usual time for their patchpreview
Oh. I wasn't sure if they did it on a schedule or not
login rewards always end 1 day before the next patch
current login rewards end on the 20th so we should get a patch on 21st
thursdays before the patch are always previews
of course that's just an observation of their usual behavior
if they delay things like they did in november the patchdate and preview could be off
Wasn't the date for the January patch already shifted once
I don;t think they're gonna shift it this time considering they announced the end to winterlights.
It was shifted, without any sort of official notice, with the change of the bee keeper outfit release date and the login reward dates being changed. I think that's where tiny got the "new" expected timelines, since we didn't get anything last week
I wonder if the fires were to blame(?)
Due to varying VFX settings among players, snowballs can cause a flashbang effect, so please refrain from throwing snowballs at known or unknown players without their consent. It may trigger seizures, migraines, or nausea in photosensitive individuals when hit due to the flashbang effect.

I'm fairly sure the adjustment was independent of the fires, because it moreso looked like it had to do with incorrect timelines for updates but it very well could have been something that added to the delay.
I know their office is in Cali, but iirc, a fair amount of their staff work remotely.
So how's everyone's afternoon going?
Crying at Jagex's decisions. But otherwise good!
Dude, tell me about it! They have something great going on with OSRS and now they're going to try monetizing the heck out of it. I'm worried.
Didn't they say something last month about how the patches are pretty much set two months in advance?
Right, the patch dates might be, but the way they changed the login reward timeframes to match up with the potential correct patch dates was the indicator of the possible patch timeline. Since that's how we've normally guesstimated it. The end of login rewards lining up with patch days!
Hmm maybe more this
I'm assuming they still do testing until it's live though...?
so they might of seen an issue or something during that, and had to delay it, too.
Also hello, I just woke up
Morning Orii
Can confirm
are different people
morning valk <333
Hello
Hope you're all doing well today
That's exactly what I'd expect you to say if you were alts
/entirely jestering
aside from my internet being on the fritz
I'm just great
I've been Loom-Knitting
Internet issues are the worst.
I can sympathize.
Loom-Knitting sounds fun!! And quite cosy & chill/calming to do!
100%
Though I will admit it definitely is very easy to hyper-fixate on - then the next thing you know you're just like "wait... when did it become night time
"
though this is a bit off topic...
Who's excited for the hopeful announcement?
I meaaan... it's always nice to have something like that to hyperfixate on!
It'd be nice if it's delayed b/c they want to squash the snowball issue. We've been plenty pitchforky about it.
Hoping for an announcement, hoping it's good. Expecting disappointment. Fear I'm right, hope I'm wrong.
Excited for more cosmetics?
I'm honestly interested in how theyre going to implement LNY stuff. If it's going to be on a similar schedule as Maji, or if it'll last the entire month without it swapping out.
I'm hoping the entire month, but..
Patch notes are gonna be interesting though, not just for the patch itself, but to see the optics of how it'll be framed. If they've tried to make any changes to the presentation after the discussions we've had here about how confusing and messy it is, and imo, how Premium stuff take up way to much space in the announcements.
Fingers crossed for a full month
It won't be the same without hotpot imo.
if it's not the entire month like last time I'm gonna be highly disappointed 😔 it's hard enough for me to find time for maji market when it's one week out of the month
I still don't think I'll be playing, but I know a lot of people are intrigued by LNY, or just... want to experience it in general. So I really hope it'll be the full month for others.
@rare pine I'm hoping there will be some other activity that has similar vibes to hotpot for people.
Same. The balloon pop game just doesn't scratch the same itch.
The balloon pop is overstimulating for me so I can't do that
I can barely even play it on switch. Too laggy.
I highly doubt it'll be enough to make me return to the game fully. Probably just me ensuring I get the exclusives for later (in case I do at some point return proper), and helping one or two people on my friends list to get that stuff since it's not as easy for them.
And underground hotpot is too controversial these days.
I fully agree
But yeah, full month is imo the way to go, much like how the seasonal events usually are (at least a full patch cycle, often more). One week makes it easy for some to miss out.
I was messing with it a little last night, mainly to test some settings again. I can see myself logging in for LNY to at least try to get some of the exclusives, assuming it wont be an overstimulating mess

They need to make it easy to earn tickets. I missed 3 weeks of the last LNY and was still able to nab everything. And I was super worried I wasn;t gonna have enough time to get the prizes so that was a point in their favour.
Fingers crossed it'll be bearable enough for you to be able to pull through and at least get something out of it.
Fingers crossed. Also hope it'll be bearable for others, becuase I know there's other people who have felt the same. As long as they can experience it, that's all i care about honestly
if snowballs arent fixed and people are still throwing them at me at the market I will be screaming though. fully ready to be disappointed
Same here, but I'm not holding my breath considering the mess Maji Market ended up being
I loved when Chappa Chase starts, but none spawn above the map.
I think that's what is going to be very telling. If the snowballs are fixed completely or not.
Or, god forbid, there's some new flashing bug.
Or they've just disabled snowball throwing ability (along with the winter stuff disappearing), then because it's disabled they forget it until next year, and we do this all again.
I just imagine FBI Santa throwing a snowball down the chimney while he delivers presents.
Maybe next year for cap day S6 can instead put a welding mask in the shop that dulls the flashbang effect.
I thought you said "wedding" instead of "welding" and i was really confused how that had correlation and made sense
That said, when patch preview comes, there will 100% be angry people no matter what (regardless of whether the anger is justified or not, since you can never please everybody), but I would hope after recent discussions they'll at least be semi-active here to gauge reception and look into the most pressing questions and feedback.
Me too 😦 but I'm not getting my hopes up.
Although I don't have high hopes of that actually happening, I still hope they'll take it seriously enough.
Another game I used to love is falling into the same pit as Palia. i.e. super cosmetics focused: Apex Legends.
Now we just get the Wizard Crab shuffle a couple times a week, where we ask him questions and he dodges and deflects them like they're roman candles.
I think something weird/bad goes on with the gaming industry as a whole during the new fiscal year. Right now OSRS players are rioting because Jagex has proposed new subscription packages, including, I kid you not a $350 a year package where you get "Enhanced customer support."
350?? 😭
350 doll hairs???
Yeah. $350 for 1 year of membership was one of the packages. You get exclusive things like "enhanced customer support." "Being able to reserve a player name for the future." and "being able to pause membership."

Who has that kind of money?
Another was a cheaper $9.49/month membership where you get ads LOL
Needless to say the OSRS community is not happy right now. But we actually fight like hell every year when they try this.
As you should.
I'm terrrified for OSRS's future. It had a pretty decent model and now it's being turned into a soulless cash grab. It's disappointing.
I'm pretty sure something like this is proposed every year but the only thing that actually happens is membership might go up $1-2 in the end because tens of thousands of players cancel membership and protest.
Still doesn't mean it doesn't upset us though. Especially when most of us have been playing for 15+ years.
Just a reminder that when a company does something you don't like, vote with your wallets.
Enhanced customer support. So, if Palia were to follow that model, that means if we spend $350 we maybe get regularly, functioning support?
I was telling myself when I read that "For $350 a year I had better get my own Jmod who tucks me in at night."
Also, don't feel bad about Palia's customer support. Runescape's customer support is also a myth and we're not sure an actual live human being handles it.
Customer support on live service games is going the same way that QC testing went for those games. Just suits finding departments they can cut to save as much money as possible.
I don't like how Nintendo does business but that Switch 2 is looking mighty tempting
Fair enough. I haven't bought a console since the PS2, but if you want a Switch 2 get a Switch 2. I won't fault you for it. At least Nintendo makes a lot of quality games.
I've been seeing the reddit posts. Similar situation just happened in League of Legends where players protested over the rewards for the new battlepass system being a downgrade. Riot had to concede and made some changes.
It's nice to see players unionizing and making a stand against corporate greed.
Yeah, tbf, there are definitely worse examples than Palia support... but that still doesn't make Palia support overall good, useful or acceptable.
If it's not acceptable for those games, neither should it be for Palia. They're not an exception.
This is one of the few times I'd say S6 gets a pass because they really seem to be struggling with staffing even though WC told us the other day they just hired someone new (Not a CM)
Well, in that case I guess the blame would be more on Daybreak/management. I don't blame the devs, just the people making the monetary decisions.
Lol. My newest console is a Wii U. No joke
I think S6 is just really walking on thin ice with choosing not to have a CM/decent customer support.
Aren't they currently looking for a CM
I believe you're right. They sure are taking their sweet time though 😄
Allegedly. Hard to know as well if the new CM will have more backing from the company too or left to their own devices.
Maybe when Palia is a few years old (Assuming it lasts a few more years), we'll have a vocal playerbase that will also let their concerns be heard.
And this is where transparency matters imo. Most people seem to have been thinking they work on a skeleton crew, but with those recent comments about staffing that suddenly seems like it might not be. If (and this is a big "if") LinkedIn numbers on employees at S6 are somewhere close accurate, there's more employees than I thought and the skeleton crew angle doesn't hold water imo.
And if they are indeed struggling with staffing, apart from the instances where we're getting into actual disasters creating issues, if they have employee retention issues that don't qualify for free pass imo.
I assume (but might be wrong), that the major part of support here is outsourced.
You're probably right. I wouldn't doubt if support is outsourced which would explain the poor quality. I also said your exact words in thinking Palia is manned by a skeleton crew (maybe 10-20) at most, but they probably have at least twice that.
What really caught me by surprise the other day was when I was expressing my concern over the lack in transparency for S6's hiring process of new employees and this is the response I got from WC. #💬│palia-discussions message
And I think that while it was nice that WC brought up that they had hired someone, it really highlighted the lack of communication from S6.
If what I saw on LinkedIn is close to correct, we're talking about 70-80. Mind you, LinkedIn might not be accurate. It will sometimes list some former employees as part of those numbers, and there's not necessarily a guarantee that everyone employed is even on LinkedIn.
As for the thing about transparency, I agree it's stupid to announce every single hire and so on, but giving a more generalized impression of the state of the company does matter to how people view and trust the company. Again, going back to the potentially wrongful impression of skeleton crew vs. actual employees.
And I think that less players would be likely to jump ship knowing that there are enough people working on the game instead of thinking they have to pull people from other departments.
I don't think the issue in question is whether companies announce their hiring practices/processes to the community but much more the particular case of S6 having had 2 rounds of layoffs, that it's just left the community in the dark entirely.
True, but to be fair to them, it could also do the opposite: "If they have a team of that size, how are the patches so thin and so broken?".
So it does also open them up to scrutiny.
the only official number we have is the one shared in EG7's financial report last year around uhm september?
the number of employees was around 40 back then
maybe the next financial report (which will be posted feb 7th) will give us some more insights
And I think that's what worries me. S6 appears to have been trying to avoid scrutiny since day 1 even though feedback is part of the growth process of a company.
All we knew was, there were layoffs and the CMs were gone with that too, and players have been complaining about certain issues in game for a long time with seemingly no real reception of feedback from S6.
And given how some of these issues have been present since before the massive layoffs, well, it's left many people with a bitter taste and would just appreciate the communication.
I have to receive feedback as an employee at my job or else I stagnate and can't grow. Why should S6 be treated any differently?
if you are in a party do you get more exp if your friend is at your house while you cook or gardening or doing other stuff? like it feel ike it should be yes but i dont know
Just look at New World for example. That game very nearly died because they had gamebreaking issues that persisted for months. Now it's doing much better after Amazon took player feedback seriously.
I don't see how S6 can think it's okay to keep their players in the dark when this game is very much on a decline and they don't have the kind of financial backing that Amazon does.
And this brings me to one of my main issues with the state of S6. We get told they have QA, and even been asked not to blame them. Yet the amount of things that slip through each and every patch is absolutely staggering.
So what's the problem with QA here? Is QA catching things, but management says "nope, ignore that, we're just pushing this through, it's fine"? Is QA just not catching things at all? Have the responsible team leaders/managers/whoever-has-the-responsibility given them bad parameters on what to test? Or is the QA doing a good job, but the game is so horrifically coded that the tech debt is practically insurmountable?
There is definitely a very serious problem in there somewhere. QA? Management? Where?
S6 could also have a high turnout rate for all we know.
These are essentially the same issues players had with The Sims 4. The amount of paid DLCs that were being released yet would make the game completely unplayable, left players wondering whether there was an actual QA team testing these issues before release. And then it was found out one of the buggiest packs ever, only had 6 QA testers, while older packs had an entire page dedicated to crediting the QA team.
So it might as well be a very reduced QA team, or there's not enough resources being poured into it and as many people have jokingly said, we are the QA team.
Yeah, I think I mentioned something like that earlier... or I meant to but forgot.
This is what happens when profits are put before players and the danger of branding. Brand loyalty is why EA still exists as a company.
Wait, people have brand loyalty towards EA?
Pretty much. Which is what I was worried S6 would turn into. And I don't think S6 has done a very good job of building that level of brand loyalty as EA has.
Not necessarily EA, but the titles that it has dominion over.
Well there's also the fact we know EA isn't going to just vanish overnight.
Some companies put quick and fast income in front of long term trust and loyalty. Trust and loyalty tendsd to have a bigger upfront cost than squeezing pennies out asap, but may well give return in players being more willing to return, stay, and keep spending over time.
There's also the issue that depending on company type, they may have a lawful obligation to practically squeeze players for the benefit of the shareholders. If shareholders want it, there's gonna be squeeze.
Funnily enough, despite the fact that OSRS is technically a 24 year old game at this point; Jagex is actually worth over a billion dollars. Makes you wonder why they need to hike prices up so dramatically. Same goes for a lot of these companies.
I will give Palia credit where credit is due. I'm glad they still keep it as a "free" game, but how much longer do you think they'll be able to do that after whales get bored of buying outfits?
What if another game comes out like Palia that has shinier outfits?
You mean... Infinity Nikki?
Yeah, like Infinitas Nicholas!
The outfits are sure lovely but the game is eh
It also worries me looking at some of the potential competitors that are on the horizon. Even ones that aren't MMO but still in the life sims category. Maybe they'll end up bombing, but if not Palia don't necessarily have all that much time to turn their ship around.
Wasn't talking about the game and that is down to personal preference :).
I was just stating a personal opinion about the game
Perhaps, but if they push away the F2P players and "average potential payer", then that means there will be a lot fewer players in game. If the servers end up being dead, just the same 30 people in house tours ever, etc., the game may well get boring for whales quickly as well.
I'd go broke
I can imagine all the clipping parts
Yeah. I can't speak for them, but I imagine even whales don't want to play a game where they have no one to lord their credit card prowess over. RS3 kinda suffers from the same problem. Trust fund babies started spending thousands to max their Runescape accounts through lamps because RS3 has a gacha system. Gold became worthless over time and players left en masse.
It's also why things like Ironman mode in OSRS and SSF (Solo Self Found) for PoE are so successful. Your real life wealth means literally nothing in these modes and you wear your achievements through hard work and planning.
Reminds me of another game I used to play. Nothing like Palia mind you, it's one with persistent regions where PvP is a big deal. Developers keep pushing things that only benefit whales, and F2P players keep getting a worse deal. Unless you're master grinder as F2P you just fall more and more behind.
There's a lot of "if not for us whales you wouldn't be able to F2P". Which in a way is fair. But they also forget that without F2P (and low-spending) players, they wouldn't have much to fight against. It would be dead.
Yup, whales start out as F2P too
Humans also start out as F2P if you think about it.
In general, yes. But on transitioning from one new game to another, not necessarily. Some go "this is where people are transitioning to, so I'll create an account and swipe my card immediately to gain the advantage", effectively skipping the F2P stage of that new game.
What a time to be a gamer.
Due to varying VFX settings among players, snowballs can cause a flashbang effect, so please refrain from throwing snowballs at known or unknown players without their consent. It may trigger seizures, migraines, or nausea in photosensitive individuals when hit due to the flashbang effect.
I remember a few months ago when I started playing Once Human, they first started doing lootcrates so I spent ~$300 because I wanted to support the devs because they had made a really fun and addicting game. Then 1 lootcrate turned into 2, then 3 and we started getting them every other week.
Now I view that whole experience as a cautionary tale of what happens when you allow those practices to go unchecked.
the short of it is, in any game that has monetization, you need to find a good balance between paid items and earnables.
Too many paid items might make more money in the short term, but if the earnables are lacking, you're going to struggle with player retention because there's not enough to work towards
Too many earnables has the opposite problem, where people are engaged, but not spending enough to keep things running.
My take is, Palia is trying to do good by ensuring that none of the gameplay is paywalled, but..... at the same time, it's failing to offer rewarding content.
There's only so many furniture sets and plushes and potatos you can give someone before they need a break from home decor and want to work towards a different type of goal.
The problem is, once someone reaches that point.... Palia has nothing left for them, because everything you could earn to show off your accomplishments is isolated to their house plot, instead of something you can show off to the world, and pretty much every other variety of cosmetic outside of nameplates is 100% paywalled
The concept that Palia seems to be going for is good, in practice it is turning iffy. But it's not just about lack of rewarding content... it's just as much about the "if the game doesn't work properly and keeps getting worse, even if there is rewarding content, how will you be able to enjoy said rewarding content"? 😂
What kind of monetization model do you think would both work and be ethical?
And the thing is that I don't regret a penny I had spent on OH. But it would be a problem if I didn't have the self control to limit my spending when they kept releasing loot crates that cost $300 each to complete.
Hey no need to attack me like that
/please note im joking
This was me with Love Nikki except I do lowkey regret the money I spent on it because it's just 2D outfits
(I didn't spend anywhere near $300 though but at least $100 over 4 years).
I don't regret spending money on Palia, because I genuinely enjoy the game
Hey the outfits are cute at least
And that's why I stopped playing OH. All the cool weapon/armor/vehicle skins were now locked behind a massive paywall and affecting my enjoyment of the game. So I stepped away.
I would spend money on Palia IF I knew it would exist in 3 more years and if there were more masculine outfits.
Since the outfits don't help at all with the game, I don't really think people who buy them are "whales".. that term is better suited for games where money will help you win
We are all F2P is this game
While technically correct, I'd assume they mean the "high spenders" in this case. The people who are on the extreme end of the buying spectrum here, who will buy the outfits no matter what.
And as such don't represent the average players.
Do you guys think it would be really asking much though for us to have a nice Guild outfit we could purchase for Guild tokens? Is that too much to ask?
Too much to ask? No. Do I think they will actually do that? No.
I definitely think there are many things they could do so that people can earn different outfits but I also think it's nice that outfits are the only thing they want real money for.. you can play the game and never spend any money at all
That makes me sad. It reminds me of how I used to play Guild Wars 2, and I wanted a really cool fiery cape but the grind to get it took months. Then there was an even cooler looking cape in their cash shop for $5. Like, what's the point of playing at that point?
I think they should sell palia gift cards.. I think that woild be smart... or allow other players to gift outfits.. I would pass off some of mine I no longer use
isn't the problem with selling gift cards, that gift cards are often bought using stolen credit/debit cards?
a problem with them, yes
They could just as easily use the stolen card to make the purchase directly, couldn't they?
Sure, but then it's done on Palia's official client so they [S6] have more protections.
The gift card could also be purchased that way.. just like purchasing the coins.. like virtually maybe..
there's also the production and distribution angle, managing unsold inventory, all kinds of stuff
i doubt it's the main reason they decided against it, but it's probably a consideration in there somewhere
Runescape used to sell membership/runecoin cards, but they don't anymore and I imagine there's a very good reason for it.
I think that Palia's current model is a fine foundation, but.....
-I would like to have a way to directly purchase something, instead of having to buy a digital currency first.
-The hard stance on monetizing entire item categories needs to go. There should be both premium-exclusive options, and earnable options, for every kind of item. As someone who loves showing off accomplishments, having virtually no options to earn things that I can actually show off on my character completely killed my drive to play. "The gameplay is completely free! it's only cosmetics!!" is a nice ideal to aim for, but if it comes at the expense of excluding entire categories of items from ever being earnable, then it still is, in a sense, not allowing F2P to access entire categories of content they would want to play the game for.
-People need to be able to buy pieces of outfits, instead of being forced to buy multiple full sets just to mix and match one piece from each.
Also.... I would be in full support of a subscription that unlocks the use of all premium-exclusive cosmetics for as long as you're paying the sub, provided the option to permanently buy specific outfits still existed as well.
you could choose to buy individual outfits and have them forever, or "rent" the entire wardrobe, the choice would be up to you basically
but with that said i thought there was something WC said recently about maybe letting people buy outfits for their friends
I would just like to purchase stuff for friends sometimes and I have no way to do that..
Maybe they will make that happen at some point
"some very limited premium gifting options" is how he put it #💬│palia-discussions message
I honestly wouldn't mind paid furniture sets, as long as they're on par with what we have now. There are already so many sets in the game idk what to do with all of it. There absolutely need to be earnable pets.
But furniture sets are just as cosmetic as clothing are they not?
also, that line has already been crossed, gestures at the coffee item code
If people are willing to say paid clothing being exclusive is fine because it "doesn't affect gameplay", than the same argument can be made for furniture since the overwhelming majority of furniture does nothing.
Just give players the ability to craft clothes then and make a tailoring skill. Problem solved.
Making furniture does effect the game.. we earn experience points, and you are correct, we could do the same for making clothes..
Then we circle back to the issue of "Well, if players don't want to pay for clothes, and clothes obviously aren't selling as well as they should be, and players don't want to pay for other cosmetics like furniture/plushies, than what DO players actually want to pay for?"
Should S6 just run ads on their game?
I think people would be more willing to pay for parts of outfit sets.. I've been saying that from the beginning
What about the sizeable part of the community that doesn't care about outfits?
They continue to play for free and have nothing to be inset about
I bought 1 outfit for $30 and that was just to support S6. Haven't changed it since. Probably won't ever buy another outfit unless I think S6 does right by us.
i ironically feel cheap having to use all the same outfit pieces to not let any go to waste (coming from a GW2 player where all my outfits consist of a completely different set for each piece)
Let me ask this question.. how many of you would stop playing completely if they started charging for the game but in turn, we can earn outfits
Personal opinion, if we exclude the two groups of players that always buy everything and those who will never buy anything, I think a lot of players are willing to buy cosmetics so long as the parameters are right. I think this really comes down to balancing those parameters really.
- Price point
- Appeal of cosmetic
- "Functionality" of cosmetic (how important customizability is)
- Trust in the company and the game
How much of a charge are we talking, and would it be a battlepass or subscription?
There are some players who feel the first three parameters are fine as is, but because of the fourth parameter, they never buy anything. There are some that are feel the last three parameters are fine, but because of the price don't buy. It's all about balance imo.
I think it would be subscription since it's still growing.. or maybe base game and then additional charge each map
i wouldnt play subscription-based games period, especially if it's still in beta
I think subscription models can work just fine if the quality of updates justify it. In Palia's current state, absolutely not. I'm not paying a sub for a dying game. If Elderwoods turns out to be an incredible update and if they come out with 2-3 Elderwoods-like updates a year. Sure I'd be more open to it. Same goes for an upfront cost for each map expansion.
I agree with this.. it used to get much better updates, but lately they have been slacking for sure
I'll again bring up the example of someone I helped look at outfits for. She found a good combo of parts from different outfits she wanted to mix and match, realized she had to buy entire outfits, so instead of a reasonable price it just got really, really silly. She was ready to open the wallet, but then didn't because of that.
I also know people who want to buy things, and the only reason holding them back right now is that they don't trust the company and feel like the game is in such shambles that it doesn't matter what price they sell things at. It's not that they are against cosmetics, they want them, but only if it's shown that they are willing and able to fix the game.
"battlepass" types like Sky:COTL i dont mind, especially since you can gift friends the passes in-game and are incentivized to do so (discount for buying a 3-pack iirc)
I think being able to purchase a battlepass or subscription with ingame gold is also a good compromise a lot of games use.
Yeah, pretty much this.
The price point for me is far too high for what the cosmetics offer.
I might be willing to pay the price if I could dye them in the exact colors I wanted, but no, they come in preset combos, and most only get 3 options. On a similar note, the inability to toggle off effects on outfits kills my interest in them as well. I just want cool-yet-simple adventurer looking outfits, but instead most of them get random effects tacked on that I can't turn off.
And as of right now... yeah, I won't deny my trust in the game is low. Bugs and communication issues aside, I don't trust there'll be enough reason to play, because there just isn't enough variety in what you can earn. (which goes back to my previous post, about paywalling entire categories of items = removing entire item categories from being earnable and/or incentives to actually play the game to begin with)
I'm honestly surprised that Palia didn't implement a dye system like Guild Wars 2. GW2 has an amazing dye system where you can use hundreds of different dye colors on each individual outfit piece.
Dyes could have even been added to drop tables for fishing/hunting/etc. and added more fun and depth.
yeah, just being able to dye outfits in colors you actually want would go a LONG way to increasing my interest in cosmetics as a whole.
I could absolutely love the design of an outfit, but if it only comes in 3 color combos I dislike, I'm not touching it.
And on the other side of the coin, I could adore an outfit's colors but hate the design of the outfit itself. xD
I'm just gonna throw it out here, but Guild Wars 1 did vanity perfectly.
Back when there was no cash shop, and you could farm for different weapon skins and when players knew you did a certain piece of content based on the armor you wore. And when dye trading was a healthy part of the economy.
Also, you got a birthday present everytime one of your characters turned a year old and you would get a random miniature pet from that present. It was awesome.
From a technical perspective, I think increased amount of preset dyes are much more likely in Palia than complete colour customization. Making the assumption they have a similar setup on clothes as they do on furniture, but because of the way they have set up colours it'd likely require a fair bit of extra work in order to calculate some things relating to colours.
With dyes the designers can control these additional parameters that makes colours look a certain way.
Presets would be fine if you could choose colors like hairstyles, where you can choose the primary and secondary color combination you like
but outfit/furniture presets usually pair two colors together as one option, and oftentimes those combinations just look bad together, to my eyes at least
The funniest part is we talk about this kind of stuff like S6 is actually going to implement any of it into the game 😦
Yeah. I find the price point way too high as well. What I mentioned about outfits don't help as well. If I want the laurels from the Well Groomed set, I'm going to have to buy the entire outfit and as such pay 2550 coins for just that part of my outfit. I still think 2550 is too much for the outfit as well, but mixing and matching makes it go off the rails.
There was a point where I was considering the top from the Game Knight set, but it has that silly dice FX which is just... no. I don't want that. What if I just want a jacket and backpack, period? Nope.
And sometimes I would like to be able to have more options (both mesh and colour wise) with an outfit. Again, Well Groomed set. Maybe I like the suit itself, but the one that has the pattern I want don't have the colour I want, so I have to make a choice; pattern or colour? And what if I just want the suit, but don't like the cape that makes me look like Mothman? Nope.
Even if they did fix those things, right now I wouldn't be willing to spend (even if it maybe is a crucial period for the company to get people spending). I just don't trust them. First there's no words for forever while the game deteriorates. Then there's a lot of words, but I haven't seen any real action come from those words... words are important, but without action they mean nothing. They have to show they actually mean those words.
Let me dig up the technical stuff about colours.
agreed, i really like the in darkness/veilhunter outfit but not so much the flashy cross colors..
Current setup is like going to a store, buying a pair of pants, a matching sweater, a hat, and shoes... just because you want the socks.
I think you're onto something here. Old Navy CEO take notes!
Imagine if you had to buy Cable, phone and internet because you just wanted to have internet. Wouldn't that be crazy?
This.
Mainly, these two points especially:
If I want the laurels from the Well Groomed set, I'm going to have to buy the entire outfit and as such pay 2550 coins for just that part of my outfit. I still think 2550 is too much for the outfit as well, but mixing and matching makes it go off the rails.
-I really liked the hometown heroine hair, but I hated the outfit. I was not going to pay 2550 coins just for a hairstyle.
-I liked the masculine hometown hero outfit, but I didn't care for the hair. Aside from (again) not being willing to pay the full outfit price when I only wanted one piece....
There was a point where I was considering the top from the Game Knight set, but it has that silly dice FX which is just... no. I don't want that. What if I just want a jacket and backpack, period? Nope.
....the hometown hero outfit also has effects you can't turn off. It has a toggle for the bird, but not the gems.... but I don't want either. I just want a nice looking outfit that isn't trying to pretend it's a disco ball.
haha... 🥲
In all seriousness though I'm glad you guys are still fighting the good fight on here. Stick it to the man!
In case this technical info makes mods or S6 bat an eye, I should say that this comes from a publicly available portfolio. This is not from poking into files or leaks of that sort. Seeing as this is from public stuff I'm gonna take a stab at this being okay.
But yeah, this is how colours are set up for furniture. Considering how highlights and shadows are effetively separate colours, which redefinable points for those positions, this is why I think fully customizable sliders are unlikely to happen, but it is something designers can control by having preset/dyes.
Having presets/dyes also avoids the issue of players customizing with colours that are on the extreme end of the spectrum so that proper highlights/shadows can't be achieved. I.e., putting the midpoint as black as can be, then you can't set the dark to anything darker, potentially creating very weird looks.
And while this is for furniture, I assume a similar setup for clothing. It's also worth noting that with dyes/presets, they can have precompiled material (or material instances really). Whereas with sliders they'd have to be dynamic and requires more calculation at runtime. That said, I haven't looked into if having dynamic material instances are notably more demanding on performance compared to using premade material instances.
and preset options would be fine, as long as I could choose color01, color02, and color03 separately.
The problem is that you can't, so you're stuck with color combinations that often don't look good with each other, and even if they do, they're almost never consistent across all pieces.
I can select a color palette for furniture that gives me, say, red, brown, and white, but then I get two pieces of furniture where one has natural brown wood+red cloth, and the other one gets red-painted wood with white cloth and it drives me crazy.
I totally agree with you. I just know that some people would automatically go "why not just add sliders and let the players go wild"... even though, to be honest, I personally would prefer that to presets. It's just that I would understand why they might choose not to go that route and that dyes are more likely than full customization.
So I figured I'd add that info for those who might wonder about that.
i personally love knowing the specifics of why, so thanks for sharing ❤️
Something about the current furniture recoloring really irks me. I usually always go with either vanilla or classic because I feel like the other recolors look too saturated, like the furniture looks like a cheap plastic figurine.
ye the current color mods for furniture are weird
if only they had other color mods laying around

i think you mean if we did, because they clearly do

I use to want a color picker but at this point I'll settle for any new colors
Any at all
at this point they will probably include new color mods with the elderwoods update so it will be (artificially) bigger
the cherry on top
Gosh I sure hope we get more then just a new map work one or two new foragable/huntables on it
i hope we get a bunch of QOL features too
all this time waiting just for a new map and two new things ad tool tiers is absolutely not worth it
When is the elder woods update?
"Early 2025"
🫠
we will get more elderwood info "soon"
whenever that "soon" might be
I feel like I have decent patience but this update is testing it😅
honestly would not expect it before end of march/april

I messed up though because I grinded the game so now I’m waiting on updates for new stuff to do
Oh and I’m waiting on the Reth/Tish/Zeki level 5 friendship quest to be fixed so I can finish that
Yeah it can be very challenging to not want to rush through in the beginning when all of those quests and things pop up, esp if you are a completionist like me
, but taking your time and enjoying the journey is the key for this game esp since it's not even fully released yet and content is limited atm.
Yeah I wish I could go back through and enjoy it a little more
I think many of us, myself included feel the same way
I do still enjoy doing many of the skills and decorating though, so I tend to fall back on those during the downtime.

Is the "another way" quest bugged? I have everything needed for the quest but cant use the cauldron
its the cauldron that bugged i think.. so there are more than 1 quest that require interaction with it that can't be finished atm
Is that the experimental brew quest? I was able to complete that one before the last update
have they still not fixed this?
yeah. they tried to fix it or some sorta patch but now we can get flashbang from doing anything. and i mean anything, the screen will just turn entirely white
owh its so odd that a little snowball bug has went and got even worse , very weird that they are struggling so much with this
yeah. and with the white out screen, they have no idea what is even causing it so it will take even longer to fix. ive stopped playing entirely until it is
Yea i can't even use the cauldron at all
after hearing this same, break from the game will get longer i guess
I'm kinda wondering if I messed up when talking to Tamala, it gave me the prompt for asking if I can use it and she said no

na thing busted for awhile now you did nothing wrong
yeah the cauldron bug happened two patches ago i think. they never mentioned it in the previous patch notes i think. so its probably gonna be bugged for a bit maybe
I do hope they fix it soon. The game needs a lot of work on the switch as well, the graphics are terrible
its a little worrying if they are having QA struggles like this, wonder how broken the major update might be

i hope so to
Don't worry, the Switch 2 will fix everything. /j

( I do think it'll help the Palia performance, but... by how much... who knows. )
Can anyone recommend me any good fanfics of palia?
I have so far read easier to love you by
c000kiesandcream and it was so good I read the whole thing in like one day.
I don't mind mature content but would prefer without!
No direct recommendations since I haven't really read any, but I know that #1135700370077782127 has posts with people's fanfic! You can just use the search function at the top of the channel to look for it. ❤️
Ty that's how I discovered cookies and creams one but I'm too lazy and want other people's opinions
Oooo, I gotcha. Apologies for the unhelpful advice then loool.
i don’t partake, but presumably AO3 would have what you’re looking for? i got a fren into palia for a while and they read fanfics and told me that’s where they were reading them.
i just watched Severance S2E1 and i read this about elevators... hypes

I also asked Tamala and got told no, but was still able to put the items in when she wasn’t home.

Hi
Random question. I'm new to the game and I'm just wondering how often they update the game with new outfits? Content? Quests? New plushies? etc.

It's pretty regular at around once a month. Sometimes a little more time goes by in between. For buyable outfits and game updates. As for quests and events, each season seems to bring something new.

New quests take a really long time. We get outfits and furniture every month. But iirc, the time between the last two story updates was 6-7 months(?)
Like Kilayi mentioned, there's patches around every month, however the content in these varies. So far, there's new paid outfits every patch pretty much or some content in the form of plushies, potato pods, some furniture. Quests and story progression have been more sparse.
They were giving us level 5 friendship quests for a while, but stopped because not enough people are getting to level 4 friendship with the NPCs.
Oh ok! That makes sense, and I'm ok with that. I just wanted to make sure that at least some new things were being added 🙂 🩷
We got a "prologue" quest update around 2 months ago iirc, since they've supposedly been mostly focused on the upcoming Elderwoods update.
I absolutely love the idea of some new furniture! I'm finding that's one of my favourite parts of the game 🩷
Glad to hear you're enjoying it!
Please where is the decorating channel? And is it possible to place a room without attaching it to a house?
Thanks @hexed cloak I don’t know why I can’t see it. I’ve posted there plenty of times
Under the id:customize section, is the decor room checked off to appear on your list of channels? Might need to double check! c:
Thanks I’ve checked it before don’t know why it disappears

Thank you mods.
quick reminder that pinging modmail does nothing, you'd need to either send a DM to modmail, or ping modcats if it's urgent
pings to that bot go nowhere :/
but thanks for looking out!
Hi - I was wondering where I could trade plushies?

How is everyone doing on this fine Friday?
hmmm... if there's any way to make a discord bot auto-post something along these lines when modmail is pinged it might be worth looking into doing that. 🤔
I don't know if that'd be possible with the discord bots yall have in this server but it might be worth checking to see if it's doable or not
now that i think about it.. are there any shepps left even? i havent seen one in forever now
All the Shepps are in a secret underground bunker playing pinball with Elvis.
some of the mods are shepps, and there's a few others who still chat in general or the skill channels
without getting too deep into it, most of the program growth was tied into the CMs, and we haven't been able to invite/ expand it to more folks
Another QoL feature I would have really liked would have been more purchasable arcade machines with different games on them. I think I have 14 Rage machines on my plot at the moment lol

Am I the only who who isn't just sad that you can't have multiple characters or at least delete yo own character more often than once in an age, but has actually considered just giving the game up? Because I've heard people say it's part of why they dropped the game. They step away for a while, forget where they are, and yet are stuck with a character they don't care about anymore and have to jump through hoops to start over.
And honestly, as the type of person who loves running multiple characters through a game at the same time it just feels... Like the game kind of traps you, like it take the freedom out of your hands and it makes the game more stressful because 'what if I mess up?' because you can't just 'try again'.
It has genuinely killed my joy for this game. And the sad part if that I'm not the only one. I hear a lot more from people that PLAYED Palia but fell off and felt they just couldn't get back in that people currently playing it. Making Palia a game you can't easily RETURN to seems monumentally foolish as it cuts down players.
If it's a security thing then have an 'account' name under their character name or some other system to keep track of which character belongs to who in game. It will probably take a lot less time than the MANY support tickets they get for character deletion. Also the opening screen is modled after a 'choose yor character' screen but serves literally no purpose expect being an extra step between yo logging in and entering the game.
I want to enjoy this game I fell in love with, but I feel this one factor has killed my ability to play in in a carefree manner. The moment I started to have to worry about the 'wrong' choice because i physically cannot just do it differently next time my enjoyment of the game began to die, and I've heard others say the same.
IDK, it's just sad and frustrating, and I think I will end up just dropping the game because I don't want to juggle a dozen 'throw away' emails as some say you should do.
Honestly I wish the game were just stable on any platform I try to play it on
Yeah honestly I think the biggest gripes I think most of the community has with the game at the moment just comes down to 'I want to play the game, let me love and play this game!'
Why don't you start a new character with a different email address? Is that against the rules?
There's only so many burner accounts your can remember and make, and the point is more 'why do I have to jump through hoops to begin with'. Like it seems like such a basic feature, even downright ANCIENT games have it, so why not Palia? Why does Palia force you into having one character or having to jump through hoops. Because most people don't want to have to jump through hoops. Also what about the people who spend money? How unfair is that? Having one account and multiple toons would make me be actually willing to spend money. But knowing I eventually get burnt out on a character and will want to restart means I just will not spend money.
It's a roadblock that doesn't need to be there. I don't want to make throwaway email just to have different accounts because Palia won't even let you delete a character on your own or more often than once every half year or so, let alone let you have more than one. It makes players like me, who love the getting going of a game, the type of player who has five different stardew saves going at a time, really feel contricted.
Like I adore this game, I feel so deeply in love with it. All I want it to play MORE of it. And yet the lack of a pretty basic feature means I have to jump through hoops and make work arond for something you shouldn't need a work around for.
Basically: Why make life harder for your players and risk it leading to them being driven away? It makes no sense to me. Because I see so many other people lament it, especially because my playstyle with coy games is a really common one. So Palia is creating a roadblock for a large amount of cozy game players who could be loving and supporting this game we all want to see thrive.
I think your feelings about wanting the ability to create multiple characters is completely valid and I think there is a large enough part of the community that would want such an update in the game. Unfortunately, with S6 apparently being hard-focused on Elderwoods and seemingly nothing else right now, it looks like we're not really going to be getting any QoL updates until that update drops. Players who feel like you are probably doing what myself and many others have who feel like the game is severely lacking in content are doing any playing other games while we wait for Elderwoods to finally happen so that we can see what S6 plans to do after.
Every day I'm in this Discord, I see plenty of great, completely reasonable suggestions for future content made by players that would benefit Palia as whole. Stuff like, new skills, accessibility updates, expansions for existing content. Unfortunately, S6 just doesn't really take any of that feedback to heart. Yes, sometimes we get Wizard Crab in here but he mostly seems to engage with us when he needs to diffuse a situation. It's not a good look for the current state of the game.
I also can't speak for the other regulars of this discussion thread, but I've definitely been feeling the fatigue of trying to ask S6 to hold themselves accountable for their questionable choices. Sometimes I wonder if I'm just wasting my time by expressing my feelings towards the state of Palia on here.
Honestly same on that front. I just love this game so much. When I first found this game it felt like I found MY game, like if you asked me what the perfect game for me would be then it would be this. Aside from the stability and the no character delete/ no multiple toons, it felt like it was tailored to me... But the cracks are showing a bit, this big roadblock is making it hard to enjoy as much, and the devs being so radio silent and seemingly not taking or words to heart makes me wonder if I should look elsewhere. I'll be picking up BOTW this weekend, maybe it'll serve as a good distraction until something changes.
I wouldn't say Palia is perfect by any means. I think many of us will agree that Palia certainly has the potential to be the best community sim out there; but that would require.
1.) Better communication and attentiveness to player feedback - We need a front-facing employee of S6 who relays valid criticism and ideas to the people who make decisions.
2.) Better funding/Management of resources - Means better management of dev time too. And this premium shop doesn't seem to be enough as evidenced by S6 needing to be acquired by Daybreak.
3.) Better quality and quantity of updates - Throwing a couple pieces of furniture and some potato pods together is not an "update". Neither is throwing an outfit or plot skin in your shop and then proceeding to make a #🐦│social-feed post about it every other day.
I've been playing longer than a year and I took just over a month off right before Christmas. I personally didn't find it hard to start playing again, but I had also finished all the quests before I took my break. I make my own fun when I feel like playing now. Sometimes that looks like collecting more of something, sometimes it looks like just running around helping others. There are many days that I just want to build and decorate my plots... its really going to be what you make it to be.
I haven't kept up with Minecraft for so long
Latest version I played was 1.18 or so?
You can change things through the mirror in Jel's shop once a week when weekly's reset that you're not able to through the wardrobe at home.
Things like body style, skin tone, voice, eye color, etc. No need to delete a character you aren't content with
I think their problem is not with appearance, but wanting to start fresh
Same, I tried getting back on it but it was not the same
I think a lot of players would like the option for multiple characters though so you can have characters with different element choices. I'm sure a lot of players would like the ability to roleplay different characters as well while also keeping the cosmetics they paid for.
Ahh
Like with Brighter Shores. I liked that they give you 3 saves slots if you wanna try the different classes.
S6, do something with that character screen! What is its purpose even currently
It would be amazing if they did it but considering the horror stories I've read about people losing their entire character without a way to restore it... it might be a monkey's paw sort of wish.
Yeah, that part of the discussion has been going on since the beginning of time here
Is it really that hard to implement multiple characters on one email tho?
Possibly with a shared friend list, premium purchases and photo album
So far they have been standing behind their "wanting us to feel connected to our character and friends to be able to recognize us" stance.
But who knows with the new acquisition, things may change down the road.
I wouldn't know honestly, but I think maybe first they should work in having character backups? iirc, it was mentioned here that they don't
But that's the thing it doesn't make me feel 'more connected' it makes me feel trapped. And I know a lot of people who feel the same. Maybe have it like someone else said, where yo cane have up to three at a time, or at the very least let us delete our own characters (With alike at least one or two confirmation screens for safety) so we can start fresh. It's totally cool if you can 'make your own fun' and I also enjoy making my own fun and little made up storylines for RP but not being able to start again more than once in a half a year and having to go through a support ticket to get it done? It feels so unneccesary.
Oh I agree, I was just sharing what's been said since the beginning and how to change appearance in the meantime
And my point about the ingame store. I am not going to spend my money on one character that I know I will eventually reset. If store purchases were tied to the account as a whole and restarting to a new character didn't wipe everything I would absolutely buy stuff.
Due to varying VFX settings among players, snowballs can cause a flashbang effect, so please refrain from throwing snowballs at known or unknown players without their consent. It may trigger seizures, migraines, or nausea in photosensitive individuals when hit due to the flashbang effect.
Last I did it I was told it was a 6 month wait to delete a character, so maybe it has changed since then, but I was explicitely warned about that.
This is a case by case basis, since it doesn't work for everyone... but some people got to keep their premium stuff they bought when asking support. [Again, some. I've heard other people say they couldn't keep their shop-items if they reset, so they just... didnt reset their account.]
I haven't checked in a while, so it may very well be now.
also, i do agree there should be multiple characters that you can make & even freely delete [with 1-2 confirmations to be sure]. Maybe up to 3 per account.
You're not alone though by any means. Majority of us here would love to be able to have more than one character.
But so far all we have gotten is the mirror to change our total appearance and the wardrobe change on the go features.
This, alongside the lack of character backups are also other reasons I decided not to purchase anymore.
Probably wouldn't even have gotten that if it weren't for the bug that resets your character appearance to the default.
i would have spent 2-3x as much if i could have a second character, yeah, absolutely wish we could
Like the big thing is, I WANT to play this game more, I WANT to support the game with some ingame purchases. But what I feel like unnecessary roadblocks have been put in the way of me doing that and it feels so OFF.
So many of us share this sentiment too.
Which makes yo wonder why they haven't added at least the ability to delete characters yourself. like the ideal would be that character select screen being put to use, yo having a few character slots and being able to delte them at will. But I would gladly take just having the option to delete and start over again myself without opening a ticket and it being dictated to me when and how often I can do it (And hopefully that the items I buy are attached to my account not my character so I can actually feel comfortable spending the money).
Like it feels so obvious, so the WHY behind not doing it makes no sense to me.
It it because of the lack of masculine outfits?
i think about it the opposite way but yeah, so many out fits that look awesome on the other body type
and some that look fine on either but if i could get double mileage from the purchase, i would have done it
That's another factor! More cool fits for us cozy boys!
I have a female char and almost everything looks good on her (which is kinda a problem)
There are many things about this game that makes us question their decisions. But to paraphrase WC, just because we give feedback, doesn't mean they have to use it.
I have encountered this in so many other games too.
on top of this, the ability to change name (perhaps on a weekly reset like appearance) without going to support as well.. i feel like i see SO many ppl having put the wrong name or their IRL full name (according to forums at least) that youd think itd be easier just to give the option over 18371292 support tickets for it
Yeah that's a thing, like, how much time is dedicated to doing something manually through support tickets now that most games just do automatically. It really is a thing where you wonder who it is benefiting not to have it at that point?
I think they're worried about players with malicious intent? Hence only through support and only once per 6 months
keeping it locked to one character per account doesnt really stop ppl like that most of the time tho
Thing is, that's solved by having your account name displayed under your character name or very boldly on your profile. When it was still in early Beta and just came out of Alpha that made more sense, but we're in the point of the beta where it makes a little less sense.
people are gonna people really
Another great point, those people WILL use the throw away emails and stuff. So really they're just hampering the dedicated players with meassures that won't really stop anyone will ill intent.
if theres a block system, wouldnt it save for that account? like it's probably easier for them to just make a new account uconnected from their main theoretically
Surprised they haven't tied changing the character's name to spending palia coins tbh
yeah. they still havent implemented things that would cut this down. signing up with a fake email is the first thing games do to prevent that stuff
You don't even need to validate the email to play the game. The registration form will accept random keyboard mash
its so infuriating that they just... havent added anti cheat, one time email uses, no fake email usage and a few other things too. they would avoid so many things if they'd just do these things but they just haven't at all. they could of even done this in alpha or closed beta
Honestly I think that's my biggest problem in all this. It's a roadblock that doesn't stop what it's meant to stop and only blocks greater enjoyment for those who are behaving well.
I was about to say the same.
Like the whole issue with a certain plot that was featured on home plot tours for a week.
I think anticheat is not a priority because the game is not competitive
Yet they punish players by nerfing skills and gold making.
even if it ist competitive, we still got cheaters running around and even being blantent about it. its ridiculous.
im happy with my name only because id seen so many forum posts about ppl making mistakes with theirs that i had to quadruple check.. also (clueless) what plot?
an anti cheat is basic game security against these sort of things. its the first line of defense and clearly shows who needs to be banned much more clearly instead of relying on only the players to catch these people
They're so shamelessly blatant about it too. And it really feels like there's no immediate action.
Stooooooop.
