That's not how it works
It doesn't help that they are reluctant to change the store based on player feedback which means they're losing potential money there, then there's the other issues relating to bugs/performance/lack of content that make people nervous to spend. But if they would at least change the store up that would help them (and us) Like splitting up the gear into pieces and selling them as single items
Mmmmmmyup
if it takes up to six months for their programmers to get up to full speed (as per the networking blog, iirc) then regardless of cash flow, they might not have been getting the bang for their buck one would otherwise expect
From what I've read here, them using Rust can't help much either when it comes to onboarding and getting things done right
(here, and that dev blog for that matter)
so without trying to dismiss anyone's issues with the income side of things, i think they'd have a much better time by reducing that spend instead of increasing take
but we're just players, who knows if they even have the folks there now to untangle and redo some of those choices in light of lessons learned
It seems like a lot of problems are coming from the upper management based on the consistent reviews on glassdoor since they went into open beta too which won't be helping things
I believe from reading employee reviews there was a point in time a year or so back as well where a lot of the Engineering department voluntarily left so yeah, the additional onboarding time to get new folks in would definitely explain the delay.
Like as always, armchair deving, but I always got this impression that they bit off WAY more than they could chew. You see this happen elsewhere, devs who leave big companies to start their own companies have big ideas that may have worked where they used to be but don't now.
The full live orchestra, the AAA voice cast, the primetime spots for advertising at the Game Awards, it's not stuff you'd expect from a new company's first game, veterans or not. And while obv I have no idea what their financials look like I get the sense that they blew a bleepton of money on luxuries like those I mentioned, that ought to have been allocated elsewhere
It's probably just time to see Palia as what it is and not expect anything from it. I log in as a time waster, when I have nothing better to do. Otherwise I'm playing other games.
You can't even be social in Palia because, oppps, server switch....lost that convo and who were they?
i also really hate the whole you can't whisper someone unless you're friends with them 😩
I think that's more a safety thing. A lot of children play the game.
I get it, i do, but i really hate it
not taking/listening to feedback from the beta testers (us) is really going to hurt them in the long run. as others have discussed in this channel multiple times, trapping cosmetics behind a paywall will be the death of the game, especially if there is nothing else for the f2p players (those who are scared or unable to put money towards the game) to work towards. if the devs (or management) would just listen to what the f2p players are wanting with free cosmetics or a means to earn palia coins in game it would be so much better for the game in the long run. earning the coins in game would mean that players who have had eyes on a piece of clothing or pet might be willing to open their wallets a bit wider if they can get to the half-way point of the price, while it also keeps the f2p player base active for wanting to get the coins to have the premium store cosmetics. every time they introduced a new pet, make a quest that features the pet (doesn't have to be a massively long one, just something) and the players get the basic color version of it with the other colors as skins for the pet that you pay for. gives the whales something to spend money on and gives f2p players a chance to get something other than decorations or renown as a reward
If they would take into consideration what people are saying for the game in general it would help them a lot, no matter what though they're burning the game down from the inside out, there's really nothing we as the players can do, even supporting them financially or just with our time isn't going to help them at this point. They need change inside starting from the top imo, I'm holding out till elderwoods but my faith is waning.
One of the glassdoor reviews actually mentioned they refuse to listen to player feedback for a more achievement based playstyle so as long as management keeps fricking around they'll eventually find out. Just means we will probably lose a game with massive potential.
which is sad, this game does have so much potential
It is sad, I've been here since closed alpha 1, i love this game sm, i want it to succeed and i really hope that elderwoods patch is their turn around patch, i'm just having a hard time believing in them though.
Yeah, it's actually a pretty common line throughout many of the Glassdoor reviews: management doubles down on failed strategies and refuses to change.
It's so saddening reading the reviews 😩
i really wonder why the bosses havent fired the management unless the boss is just as bad
I know there have certainly been some changes due to feedback throughout my time testing the game but I really don't feel like anything I've ever said has gotten through. If anything it always felt like they were actively removing anything skill-based and making things more generic / easier.
Like I think it's pretty common knowledge at this point that that there was a net for bug catching since it's in the original trailer for the game and everything, it definitely was a bit clunky to use but it was strange to me to just throw it away to basically copy Hunting :S
Yeah, I actually preferred the net and told them such in the survey they gave us asking about it.
I hated that it's just hunting 2.0
Them buffing the catch rates was what finally made me quit the game. I spent weeks compiling data but then it all got thrown out the window because too many people were upset they couldn't catch rare bugs in a single throw with a Makeshift Belt :/
Probably why the RNG plushies make me so mad, people complained about RNG but seem to love THIS RNG lol
i've seen a lot of complaints about the plushy rng but i didn't feel like there was an issue with it :x
it makes sense that you can't catch strong bugs with weak gear. heck, if i made the game with the net i would have made the makeshift net completely break if you tried to catch a rare or epic bug
it gave me a reason to actually go hunting
Has the game improved after maintenance?
It seems like it has yeah
OMG OMG
stability wise that is
well, that's good. i've been playing minecraft because of the instability of the game
IS MUSIC BACK????
no idea o: there was an issue with the music??
Idk if it was both switch or pc but some people had no music playing including me
oooh i see, i haven't heard any complaints about it recently so idk!
afaik this was just stability so prob no music still
Music worked both on switch and pc for me so I can’t say anything. :(
I can't believe the game is still down for maintenance 😫
Its not, cancel the message and log in
Thank you!
Faith do you play on pc?
I do
Ooh okay so that makes sense, I think the music thing is a switch issue
oh okay yeah that makes sense!
I’m really debating playing on pc, but computer play gives me eye strain in general
i put my game in window mode so i don’t have to look over the big screen, and put my pc on like “sunset mode” or something so when it’s night time it has a tint of sorts to it
Use any blue light filtering, night mode, privacy screen, etc to help with eye strain?
I would really recommend it tbh, pc is so much better for palia, but you can absolutely mess with the settings in game to help with the eye strain from what i've seen from others
Oh, and adjust screen brightness?
you could even limit it how long you wanna play, maybe something is easier for you to do on pc vs switch (for me it’s hunting i love it on pc) but i hate fishing on it so i do that on my switch
I feel like I've never had the music playing whenever I did play. It's so sporadic that it's like... why bother.
Setting timers for breaks too even. I agree that Palia on PC is better than switch. Switch is a nice change of pace sometimes.
i like it :) but i only hear it on pc as switch i’m usually around family so don’t wanna have too much music going on
Thanks for the advice :D
why waste people's time by submitting an empty plot for the home tours?
I ask the same thing everytime I do home tours.
I refuse to vote on them. Id rather see a default starter plot than nothing at all.
i guess they could have been exploring the home tour thing and didn't know who to get out of it and hit submit by mistake
Maybe, they could add a preview picture of your plot so you can double check which one your uploading with a "are you sure" button.
that would be handy - i have several plots going and nearly put the wrong one in
Granted theres a lot of things that need tweaking or fixed, i think the whole voting system needs changed. If someone gets 30 heart votes and 20 wizards they should be able to still get a tier 2 name plate.
It should be TOTAL votes not one specific category.
votes should be retained, 1 week for 500 votes is insane
I dont want to beg people to vote a specific way because I want a certain nameplate. If I get 200 or 500 total votes let me pick which tier nameplate I want.
Also I think that item limit/plot value should play into how your plot gets seen on tours.
that would be interesting
the reaction nameplates should just be achievement rewards, where you give the reaction not receive it
Like we have filters already (featured, trending etc) if we had a plot value filter or item limit filter you could pick if you wanted to see more empty plots or full (i like to vote on just added plots so they get a vote)
But it would stop me from seeing 10 different blank plots
i'm not a fan of pay to be at the front of the queue so i am looking through the newly added homes
plot preview would be nice but also maybe a tag or something, like kitchen or garden that you can mark to mean that you are super proud of how that area looks, to help those that are looking for inspo for that room
Speaking of tags going along with that - each of the books are named something different (guide, novel etc) they need a generic book tag so i dont gotta scroll or search the specific book name to find it.
it's like, what? 150 house tour tickets for 10 hours of exposure? and you're still not guaranteed to get the reactions that you want, i went into those featured homes and they were nowhere near the tiered emoji numbers
I featured my home once, and only got like an extra 50 reacts. I dont feel its worth it.
i'd like to see the option to add a brief description for your plot - eg. welcome to the tavern, enjoy the gardens
and just to put that into perspective, to get 150 tickets without the coffee cup achievement will take you three weeks to get
Yeah it’s all rigged, that whole aspect of the game was only intended for streamers to draw more people into the game
i just don't have the time to visit that many homes to ever get enough tickets
If they used say like the create a community layout for the plots, So Plot Name, Plot tags/theme (instead of motto) Plot description with a preview image would be amazing.
That’s too convenient
How is conviency a problem ?
For us it isn’t. But S6 doesn’t want convenience. They want you to beg for votes by showing pics everywhere possible, which also draws people into the game, including potential new players. It’s a strategy, we are literally their marketing department
i had nearly reached the decor cap for the home i submitted and it is nowhere near as cluttered as some homes i've visited
Yeah thats valid. Wish they'd just reuse some of their current ideas that would work with other things, Reusing rather than implementing something new.
It's crazy the difference some peoples 3000 item limit looks compared to yours.
I demand stair rugs 😭
the harvest house stairs are ugly so im for this.
Right? Color orientation is a huge part of it and I’m not very good at it
At least not with the options we are given
Going along with color, ive said it a few times but allowing us to use the hair color wheel for the furniture recolors. So you have a primary and secondary color. They already have the pallet made they would have to spend time using that on each decor item (which is a lot) but if they can do it for hair they can do it for the furniture.
We need more dye options, and better flower options. I’ve never seen a red rose bush that small
Im so tired of seeing NPC's with recolors that we ourselves can't have
Exactly. And paintings we can’t have that would add color to our walls
We need way more warm colored flowers (red, orange, yellow) we have at least 4 different blue flowers alone.
Yep. The hydrangeas are pretty, but the cool colors get dull
My color wheel of flowers- so much blue compared to every other color. -some arent in the wheel cause they are like the mushrooms and odd ones i dont consider full "flowers"
And let us pick seeds from the plants in the wild. I’ve never heard of someone catching bugs to look for seeds with a magnifying glass
Granted I do got a disproportionate amount of blue flowers for decorating it still is 4/5 blue flowers compared to the others
This and the fact that each furniture set should have the same basic items (in my opinion) (kitchen counter, cabinet, bathtub, toilet, sink, bed etc) and half of them are missing tons of them.
Jel with his ravenwood bookshelf I cant have 😭
Yep. But they decided to make basic amenities illegal. Flushing a toilet is not that kind of flow!
Illegal rugs of all things lol
If they would take some of their current things and reimplemented them elsewhere it would be less work on their part reusing things they already have while also giving us more creative freedom.
The day they give us more colors for furniture I will cry.
So they're just sensoring messages now eh? 🙄
I didn't even get a warning. It's just gonzo. Not exactly cozy 💔
In my tiny opinion
Einar bot at it again I suppose
Mmm I would have gotten a notice if it was Einar
I only realized my message was gone because I was scrolling through other people's posts & then noticed the time range where I posted was empty.
I happen to screenshot the message to send to a couple of friends so I was able to double check that I wasn't just mistaken 🙃
Weird
Yups - well c'est la vie
Suppose I have other things I should be doing anyways.
Is Palia on a maintenance now?
I reached my decor limit & realized most of it was taken up by flowers 😂🤦♀️
On my 2 plots I have close to limit I have about 800 flowers lol
Last I checked it was 917 😂😂 had to get rid of a few 😭
What the heck happened to my fishing boop noises.... on the struggle bus right now trying to fish tho 💁
On that note sunflowers would be so cute though 😍
Ive noticed that when I was fishing on the bubble spots! Normal when fishing for non star quality fish but a lot more difficult to fish without it for sure
apparently I listen and not look when fishing .... i have recently learned lolk
: me fishing : 😅
Just another victim of the last maintenance. No idea how it got borked but it did :x
game still down for maintance?
Just checked.yes still down:(
Games not down- you can get in just click any button they forgot to take the message away
Oh, uh....ok.tysvm.
Hi, guys ! I just want to pop in to talk about the last update. I haven't play in a while because I have nothing left to do in the game. I like my house, I have max friendship with everyone and I finished the story. So I came back for the conclusion of the prologue and I was so excited ! I had fun playing but I barely play an hour ! That was so short !! So, yeah, good game but disappointed about the story length. That's all I wanted to say, Have a good day everyone ! o/
Yeah, the "conclusion" is definitely not what I perceived to get from the trailer they showed. ||I really wanted more dungeon puzzles since we went back to the temples, but everything was so easily laid out for us to follow.|| I love this game so much, I just wish it were in better hands.
Here's what Vega had to say on the topic
#💬│palia-discussions message #💬│palia-discussions message
[Backreading/delayed response]
You were right that I would enjoy that response.
And I definitely agree. Definitely seems like we have similar/same ideas when it comes to that kind of stuff, lol. & you definitely explained it very well.
guess they applied feedback a bit too much and made everything insanely obvious and easy this time
I would love if the main story stuff would be a more complex, challenging but still offer options for those who struggle (or simply can't do certain parts)
hopefully we will get more than jump n run, invisible bridges, sliding puzzles in the future
at least the brazier puzzle is nice, I think I like that one the most ( || the one we had in the main part of the fire temple not the prologue stuff haha||)
they could implement soo many types of puzzles
even repeatable puzzles so they don't implement them for only one story part
Yeah, I think this is something that would definitely be better. The complex/challenging type puzzles, I think are fine on it's own. Just having an option to make it easier-- whether it's alternative paths and also an option to skip [Which they have that, where you can skip if you mess up enough times]-- would be a better way to do it.
Options are always better than either too hard or too easy.
I hate how they keep watering down the little bit of challenge in the game. For example, no, I did not love having to make a starred muujin bahari for Your Order Is Served. But then they just go and decide... eh, unstarred petit fives is enough. If that had been the case when I did those quests, I'd have zipped through them and run out of content even faster.
Listen. I really enjoyed the water temple in Legend of Zelda. I demand my puzzles to be actual brain teasers.
With what ValkOrii said, I completely agree. Options are much better then having it one way or the other.
I agree, even the stuff that's supposed to be puzzles is rather obvious... And I 100% agree about having options! Just make it clear from the start that there's an easy and a hard way, so people don't choose the wrong one and get bored/frustrated.
Yeah, that's one thing I've also heard from the recent questline/questchain. There's no clear indiciation, at all, that you can even prompt to skip if you mess up enough times... I know some people didn't know that was a thing until Vega said something in the discord
Yes! And it doesn't have to be much, could even be a character saying "You try here, I'll see if I can find another way in the meantime, see you in a while".
Why is the maintenance still going 😭
It finished hours ago
its not, but they forgot to remove the banner
Running super smooth for me all day
um.. somethings wrong with mine, game freezes when i click play on character screen
Looking for people who want to view plots and trade plot votes...
Id loved to show off my work and see yours too.
You'll have better luck in #🏡│home-reactions
Thank you
haha, you never notice how many quests are tied behind Tamalas' couldron working until it doesn't work. :'D
sooo frustrated with that woman and her noncooking cauldron
Tamala's cauldron is a thing?

Preach. The audacity to mention that to us. After what we’ve been through
I played for an hour this morning and then it wouldnt let me mine a node, so I logged off. came back on couldnt move, logged off. Restarted my computer, now I live in a purple cloud
It’s…pretty
it still has the sparkle and magic feeling and I can rotate my screen, but NO CLUE where Im walking 😆
My login screen says down for maintenance 🤨
Did I miss something? Theres nothing mentioned in news, status etc
It’s not down. You can log in.
it said it on mine too, but I still was able to login and play before I became a purple cloud
they did mention maintenance in the palia-news channel yesterday but no updates yet 🤷♀️
they just forgot to get rid of the banner or something from yesterday. It's not in maintenance.
I suppose if I had hit any key like the on screen prompt suggest.... I wouldnt have aasked like a dork. I is dumb
You're not. It's expected for a game to be in maintnenace when it says it is in it. This is 100% on them. You're not dumb or anything else!
This situation has just occured right after I put a coffee pod in and came back to coffee all over the counter. A cup. A cup is required to catch the coffee..... I am malfunctioning
I could see myself doing that. 😅🥲
or my persoanl fav, coming back to a hot cup of water bc I forgot the pod
or a hot cup of oxygen bc I did not hit start
I grind my beans, and I forgot to open the clear lid to pour them into the grinder one morning, so beans everywhere! we need coffee in order to function to make it sometimes 😆
Add some cocoa powder and you have hot chocolate. 😅
100% done that before. 🫠
I like my coffee so resemble my sense of humor and heart. It is not sweet. But very dark
And yes, I did entirely forget to water my plants after until the next day.
I dont remember giving u permission to publically discuss my days actions. 😐 lmao that is me. Me is you
who ever this chick is.....just wow. I remind myself of Anger from the movie inside out. XD
delayed repsonse but oh god I have done this with my keurig before multiple times
I have a fav mug I'm in love with now so I dont forget it now at least but man
I love how we are all dysfunctional in some fashion. What a united community 🥰♥️🌈
I joke. It’s how I cope. I posted a story in a group and um…. 700+ ppl were shocked and appalled. I knew it was “bad”, but when they were petitioning me to sell the story for tv 😅 I think I realized it’s not typical dysfunction 😂😂😂
I made my coffee yesterday in the morning and came back to it at like 5 pm going "oh that's why I have a headache I forgot to drink it" 😄
Me... looking at the cold cup of coffee I made 5 hours ago...
A bunch of beans died for that coffee. the absolute disrespect
I'm not too good to microwave it and drink it anyway. You know... just to honor their sacrifice and all. Absolutely not because I have a caffeine problem or anything.
Look at Mr. Bee doing home tours. Such a sweetie
me. I click wrong stuff. But look at this Maji derp'ing out of the tress
Done this too
Is there any way to get apples besides requesting and using farming guild coins…?
~I don’t have enough apples to make seeds. That’s why I’m asking. 🫠
You can get an Apple Seed by ||leveling up your friendship with Nai'o and Zeki through friendship quests|| if you haven't already.
And other than that, just gotta wait for them to grow to get more apple seeds, etc tbh. The apple trees thankfully last for a few harvests. 😅
Welp. Thanks. I guess I gotta do a lot more farming to get guild coins then. Friendship levels are at max for everyone except Subira, Tamala, and Einar.
Tbh I would just worry about buying 1 seed(if you have none), and then use the apples you get from that harvest to make your other seeds. Good luck 💕
You should be fine being able to grow a tree on your own for the seeds, without needing to buy more.
I started with my one tree after finishing that quest, and you can also request them after you get it if you want more.
Ugh I've just had the Wicked soundtrack on repeat it's so good. 😭
So did the maintenance yesterday fix things or are people still having connection issues?
It fixed connection issues for me.. for now
I think some people are still having issues? :s
But im not sure if that's bc things are fixed, or bc less ppl are on since they forgot to get rid of the maintenance banner on the home screen... which has stopped (some) people from logging in lol
im hoping it actually fixed stuff tho
Yeah that's why I've been getting mixed reports
had some issues for a few minutes this morning but i've surprisingly been fine since
Based off the poorly worded post I've been assuming the restart fixed something just not everything
cas gotta stay on brand
@fiery perch more feedback from me back in the olden days regarding the game's start / tutorial (someone on steam asked why the tutorial is kind of... non-existent)
"To go into a bit more detail: I would like to see the tutorial made a little longer and more focused for new players. Upon emerging from the ruins behind the waterfall, players would spawn into an "instanced" version of Kilima: this ensures that it can be a set time of day, NPCs will be at set locations, and the materials the player needs to complete their quests and understand their role in the world are readily available without competition from other players. Ashura then tasks the player with collecting the materials to build their tent, and sends them on a linear path to talk to NPCs that give their introductions, simple quests / tasks, and reward the player with materials they'll need to build their tent. This still lets players feel like they contributed to its construction, as they're gathering items, hunting animals, collecting bugs, etc. for NPCs and getting these "rarer" items in return. Upon finishing the gauntlet of introductions, players return to Ashura who offers to let them stay at the inn awhile before they set off for their new home. Fade to black, title card for the game, spawn them into the actual server at whatever time it currently is. :)"
Seeing it later whoooo. Seen it twice on Broadway and absolutely love the musical, prolly have a few songs memorized lmao
This sounds really nice
Agreed, that’s a really great idea..
The film is a really great adaptation of Act I! I was expecting it to make some garbage choices, cuz that happens y'no, but they really didn't! Any changes from the stage play were additive, giving more background to the universe or characters. It's truly very good.
Yay!
its totally made sense that flickering issues were our computer's problem /s
Did they ever fix that? I haven't really been on much to tell the difference.
That's just what I read so I'm not sure
Welp whoever's playing, share the deets on what got fixed/what broke/what is the same

Unfortunately, that probably won't be fixed until their next actual hotfix or patch. :\
..And I mean, even then, it's hopefully it'll be fixed by then >.<
Im doing it rn. They brought this on themselves. No regerts.
its still not fixed...still can't complete the tish quest
Any reason they archived the communities page? It's, like, the exact thing I'm looking for rn and I can't even use it. I need help from experienced home builders bc I'm trying to put an object against the wall, but the collision stops me at, like, a foot away from the wall, the gap is ugly as sin, and I can't figure out how to make the clipping technique fit it in.
A call with people who know how to execute what I'm trying would be ideal, but (reasonably so) there's no calling in this server so I can't, and google is zero help at all.
There's a new communities page #1267631845013721158
If you are looking for help, there's also often lots of experienced builders in the #🏡│decor channel (some of which have their own youtube channels as well) and might be able to direct you.
Mmhm
Thank you!
still got flickering issue but s6 claimed its just our computers (when its still not working for me)
welp
I have the flickering issue too
my screen flickers when switching zones. i know i isnt my laptop cause i never had that issue until after these patches
Make them dig for gold!
any word on how early next year for the big update with elderwood? like early jan? or late jan into feb? anyone hear anything lately?
nope, but would not expect it too early, more like march/april, they will announce it when its about to happen, u will probably not miss it
Ahhh, when I go to the underground (via zekis shop) a white light flashes across the screen D:
hurts my eyes
I’m not sure if this is a known issue or not
My mouse wont stay on screen lol
issue yes, known by s6 probs not
sorry that's just me, i'm really really fast

I keep getting warning from a palia Einar bot.....wtf am I saying thats a problem?
!modmail
You can contact the mods via modmail to ask.
Hey there!
This looks like something you can reach out to the mods for help! You can contact them via ModMail, a bot that will set up a private conversation with the team.
To use ModMail, DM @daring cosmos (that can also be found at the top of our member list).
It will walk you through the process to reach out to the mod team. If you are in multiple servers utilizing ModMail, please make sure to select Palia.
Thanks!
😐 nah. the game is irritating enough. I guess I dont really wanna know what a mod thinks either
I'll wager they have an auto-mod for "threats." A bot can't tell when someone is being silly.
anyone else unable to use the bloom lantern on shelves ?
The Maji Market one? It seems some items still have the incorrect tags sadly
Yes that one! & incorrect tags?
I was hoping it would've been fixed by now, but I guess not 🙃
Some items got their tags for placing mixed up, so items such as that one are now only ground bound.
oh wow! okay, tysm for letting me know. I thought it was just a me thing. I miss using it :(
Same here, I had actually grinded so hard on Maji Market to get multiple of those, I guess there could be a way to place them with obstacle flicking but I'm not sure
SAME, they're super cute! c: & yeah, i'll just wait it out. It's prob ofc not on top of the list but it's the little things :( ty again for your response!
No problem! I hope it gets fixed too if that's the case
Lol what the heck did I miss
Chopping board still broken.
pleek palia its been 10 min 😭
I guess I was muted for an hour. Just now looked at message. Guess I took my punishment well 😂
I hope they change the lighting in game soon - everything is so ugly and washed out now
I wonder why that keeps happening every couple of maintenances
if anyone was curious, I didnt get one during summer or anytime last year but I took a screenshot at approx the same in-game time in spring vs now
I will say, that's pretty cool that they did that. Hopefully winter is really neat too.
I'm gonna get another in the same spot when it changes, I'm curious to see it lol
Props to the artists who put in the time to make some fall magic!
(WAIT ROAN COMPLIMENTING SOMETHING WHAT IS THIS!?)
But Roan I thought all you did was sit here and complain!!! /j
das me
So how's the game tonight?
Had a minor stroke. Thought I booted up Stalker 2. Was like "Wow, this is a weird looking building I'm in."
What’s up with the platform with the fishing sign on it inside the Temple of Flames? My line actually lands in the lava but idk…is there something to it?
Quest
What quest?
its apart of a new quest that ends the prologue. you can only fish an item out of it from that quest im sure
Wow I learned something new today!
Have only been playing Palia for a month, when I first got the bloom lantern I thought it was MEANT to be that way!
Glad it was of help!
Sadly I think the sakura vases were also bugged iirc. I thought since they fixed the mounted wall decorations they would've fixed those too
I'm specially sad because those two are probably my favorite decor pieces.
The skateboard is also broken lol
What the shiat, Zeki just accused me of stealing from him and I have done nothing of the sort 😂
I got told off by the farmers wife for not giving her a good enough present (it was Sheps Pie)
is it just me or is the color of everything ingame kinda dark? It wasn't like this before lol.
anyone having cooking issues in game? Trying to make stuffed cabbage rolls but green onions wont show to chop

it's not you - they messed it up after one of the recent updates - everything is overexposed and bland
It boils down to personal taste but I like the new lighting
Happy thanksgiving to you too! I hope you'll have a nice celebration.
💛 Happy Thanksgiving! I appreciate you! Youre lovely!
Happy Thanksgiving to the US folks!
And thank goodness I'm not the one cooking today!
Who has two thumbs and found out she had to make an entire Thanksgiving spread last minute? This fool 😭
I’m making a ham last min! You’re not alone!
My son and I decided to stay home, game and have a crab boil
who had thanksgiving dinner for breakfast? this chick because she pulled a 24 hour (and still awake) and cooked her turkey at 4:30am est
nice! i’ve done that before with fam
was on xmas tho lol
@marsh depot Happy Thanksgiving
I had an early morning so I had my lunch early... So my dinner was at 11 am lol
Tonight will probably just be some Mac and cheese because why not
I'm currently double checking recipe stuff, then going to be getting food started here soon.
We at least got the ham already cooked yesterday in prep for today
Any specific kind of maccie cheese?
I'm bougie and I do the Kraft Deluxe
Hahaha, heck yeah
White cheddar with garlic and herbs is my favorite~
Ooo that sounds nice
We're having Smoked Gouda Maccie cheese tonight!
be extra bougie and throw in some shredded (your fav cheese)
that sounds so good
It's def one of my favs
Mmmm want.... I don't celebrate thanksgiving anymore cause only one family member and neither of us can really cook but I get super jelly of everyone with their delicious food
It's just me and my brother, tbh. Just make some really simple food that's comfort. Candied yams is always good and very easy-- no real 'cooking' involved
We just try to get stuff that's usually a lot easier to make, doesnt' require a lot of meal prep, etc
I'm just making sesame chicken because I don't celebrate it (since I don't live in the US) but since I've been cooking more often my mom's put me on charge of Christmas dinner 🤣
I'll probably do my usual of heating something up from the trader joes frozen section lmkjhasd maybe orange mandarin chicken...
Ngl I would eat takeout everyday if I could
Trader joes has become my bff since it opened by me, great frozen section
Can I have more than one romance in Palia? I don't have any love in real life, I thought about having two so I could feel hot and desired in the comfort of my home drinking lemonade and eating onions gratin with cornmeal.
u can romance all romancables
O.o
That's a lot of gifts, I realized that I give more gifts than I receive.
I think it's very realistic.
||tamala & subira|| jel, hassian, jina, reth, einar, kenyatta, nai'o, tish are the romancables that u can do I believe
yeahh, its indeed lots of gifts
U know wh the best mentor is? I'm almost level 4 with some.
thinks its ur preference, really :o
Is there any negative dialogue if you date more than one at a time? Lol
Ouw! O.k. Ilike Zeki, he seems to have a lot of (il)legal things....
ehh, just ||Tamala might give snarky comment about hassian and reth / tish will feel weird about u wearing their pins.|| I think its just pins as far as i know
@sullen pumice there u go! :D
So.. see ya! Thanks for your time! I really appreciate
That sentence went in a totally different direction than I expected
am i the only one who thinks that "wrapping up prologue" should have included in "to be continued"? I'm so confused with all of this and it's does feel like the game is..dead in the sense of content, nothing to do, and just grindy until 9999+ levels..
I'm so frustated with the fact that s6 not really fixing bugs, hotfixes are maybe a thing every end of month when in my opinion, should have been fixed asap.
They only released even more expensive premium stuffs every monthly (if we are lucky to see s6's active) but what's the point of palia?
How long will palia be in "early access" or beta for? I know that devs (some) probably are working behind in the scenes but, communication is so bad in my opinion.
It is kinda sad that discord is more active than the game (at least to me), there are some of us who are twiddling our fingers waiting for s6 to do something but, where are they and why they not doing something?
I'm so burnt out on palia regarding on hotpot, maji, housing plot that is way too much in regarding reactions, and I'm not really playing palia as much as I should have.
Yeah, i can get on and plays with my friends but, I'm finding myself with no motivation whatsoever and that's bad :/
I just am so confused with what are they doing with our money thats goes toward palia development as well
My understanding is that 1.0 aka official release comes out early next year with Elderwood. We don’t know how much content comes with that or if they’re including other area with it ||but we’re definitely getting new gameplay with the staff at least. || And lots of lore/story probably with that too.
Fixing bugs and more lore now would be nice but its not realistic with their team sizes continuously changing
That's the frustating part i guess..
I’ve seen this game change and grow considerably from closed beta. The best way to think of it as it is being built still. It wasn’t a finished game they just needed to test, people playing it helps them build it though
The vibe im getting from s6 is like irl workplace where boss / co workers don't care about us. There are some games who actually cares about us and actually gives us some roadmap and communication and actually listens (some do but not enough) and that's gross to me
there are one man game who actually communcated, gives roadmaps, cares about the players and that's tell me that s6 have a different views about us than indie games do.
so I think the small team is no excuse whatsoever to me
Yeah, they might not work that way with plans months on advance. I think if they did they’d communicate it
I've been here since closed beta, and yes, things have changed overtime. However, there has still been bugs that have existed since then-- and from my understanding, some even during the alpha?
And, the feeling that a lot of people have been getting at this point, is that 'beta' is just used as an excuse so it can be riddled with tons of bugs.
I still don't think it should of left closed beta, nor do I think it should of gotten on siwtch when it did. It's close to unplayable at times for some ppl on the switch, which is a shame.
There are quests that can not be completed rn. The cooking bug is also really bad-- that some people can't make some recipes bc of it
it's a shame.
Communication has rarely ever been S6's strong suit imo. Esp after the CMs left & got laid off.
Like they communicated Elderwood because its what they’re sure of
I feel like they communicated that to get people to play the game more again, tbh. Which is kind of a smart thing imo.
Although now, again, people are with barely any content, which is a shame. I know they put a lot of work (from what vega has mentioned) into the recent quest line, which is nice, but it does hurt my heart to hear that it only took some ppl 1-2 hours to complete. :( After months of waiting.
Yeah they need a much bigger bug team but they might just not have the money for one 🤷🏽♀️
yeah so, the small team, early access, beta, are just excuse and I kinda want to walk up to s6's face and goes, "what the heck are u doing?" because seriously..
They have also had a rather large budget to start with. I don't remember the exact number right now (where's @loud axle at when you need him, he usually has this info
) ... but bc of that, it baffles me sometimes.
And I will at least state, yes, some bugs are definitel yhard to find and sometimes you wont know until it goes live. But there has been some where it... does make me go ????
Wasn't it like $45 million or something crazy?
That was years ago and a pre pandemic budget
it was like $45 mil or $50 mil, yes
I understand that, but this game has been riddled with bugs even before now.
And they still have a rather large budget, especially with the cash store
The one thing that definitely confuses me on how it got missed in specific, is how somehow, some recipes straight up got deleted out of the prep station to chop to finish recipes lol
idk about how big that is, since it might not be as much of a profit as we think or realize but
they have so much money and they just now started planning to have elderwood started when its been a thing years ago. And i understand that coding is hectic but, just yikes at how the game still have bugs when its been released when some told them not to
I’ve seen lots of people sporting the new outfits
I really dont think they would have fired so many people and did the company thing if they had money.
they do have money, that's the problem
I don't doubt this! I just moreso, we honestly dont know where they are putting their money behind the scenes, in comparison to how many might be sold. Hopefully that makes a bit more sense lol
Esp since it seems like they out-source a lot of concept art
[Which can i mention, love those concept artists. a lot of their work is lovely to see
i love looking at that stuff]
They do have it, they just didn’t want to pay as many people
Maybe I’m too trusting 🤷🏽♀️ I just like what they’ve made and want to trust theres reasons its so wonky thats not just neglect.
And that's fair. But a lot of people who have had critique or frustrations-- which is valid to have-- has seen a lot of bugs, gotten frustrated with dealing with it, or whatever, and it just... it does bubble up over time.
I still hope for the game to get better and improve
I want the game to turn into something that I still think it could be.
I’ve been a developer before, just not for S6. What I see is an understaffed and overworked dev team, and their bosses are allocating their budget elsewhere, like outsourcing the cash store and padding their own pockets instead of hiring more developers
For sure, I mean its impossible to log in without at least 5 bugs everytime, and sometimes the log in is the bug
just wish that the higher up management would stop double downing on things that need to/should be changed
It’s clear that daybreak only bought S6 so they can bleed it dry, then they’ll dispose of it if the player base diminishes. Enad is notorious for this
That seems likeliest to me. Unfortunate and maybe we should have expected from these types of people running things
Daybreak used to be good, but ever since Enad bought them out it’s been horrible
For context, daybreak does EverQuest
I think the "I understand that the team is small because they fired people" excuse really is no longer a viable excuse. Also the game being in EA is no longer an excuse. They break as much stuff when the do release patches as they fix stuff. There is absolutely nothing to do in the game except for collect plushies and trade them. Decorate, maybe but they limit that with the decor limit.
And Lotr or whatever. I never played either. More a Guild Wars and Stardew/Sims gurly
I wasn’t bringing it up as an excuse, more of a ‘they put their own foot in the grave’ scenario
EverQuest is amazing
I get it. I wasn't specifically referring to your comment. I've heard it over and over and over.
Still? 👀
It's feel like they just kept digging the hole and kept digging the hole and not patching up stuffs and refuse to admit that they messed up.
Yeah. They HAVE to hire more developers or the game is doomed and it won’t be around much longer. But more than that, their management sucks
Yes. They’re still releasing expansions for EQ and EQ2
and EQ3 is in the works
Right now Palia is a game you play on update days maybe and then log out till something elese comes up you can spend your time on for 1/2 day.
Yup. I’m getting extremely bored with it
and that is not good for a live service game
I was logging in daily for 2-3 months because I was building a plot. But with tour boards how they are only like 50 people naturally saw it (with the ticket boost)
I started a Christmas plot but I am less motivated knowing it’ll be hard to get visits
Like I've said before, I load the game so I can test some stuff on update/patch days-- esp to see if any accessibility things may of gotten added [but not mentioned in patch notes]
To help ppl who may have questions (like trying to find specific settings or something), or to test something for someone if needed
I also login in case of FOMO login rewards or twitch drops.
I don’t think you can even call it live service. Part of the live service model is to charge for the new content
I mean, s6 probably will said, "but we leave a message saying its important to take breaks because, story are short, etc"! But, the problem is that players who take their time and eventually finished it are bored as well.
It's sad that palia have been out since then, story wasn't progressing, grinding slowly racked up to 9999+ to "keep the players motivated" but its will not work in long term.
You're telling me that they are just now working on elderwood just because, there were some newcomers who just started noticing that palia exist when they didn't do anything years ago????
I’ll play it all winter probably
I’m finding it very hard to find a replacement game because I kinda don’t want action or a lot of story to follow, just a chill atmosphere
After skill level 50, there’s no point in going further. If they really wanted us to believe that, they’d have continued the rewards for hitting certain levels
this is the same company that said they didn't want to add new levels for friendships because they wanted more people to get to level 4
ok cool, thats fine for you but, there are some of us who sick of bugs, early access still a thing, beta still a thing.
Then they added level 5 on half the npcs
yeah that leaves the bad taste in my mouth because that just ????
yeah, we don't have time for that
i believe that those that got level 5 are the "popular" npcs
[Not pinging Roan here]
But I wanted to reply to this, so ppl can see/click it easier. But this was some of Roan's ideas for possible skill trees for Palia's skills. Which I think would of been super nice, and also give fresh life into the skills.
I think it's a bit late now, sadly... but. :( i still hope maybe, maybe. they'll strip the skills for what they are now, maybe do some form of compensation of course, and do something similar to these.
I just want more quests. It’s not that hard. Quests are so easy. And you don’t even have to add voiced lines for very much of them in Palia
Skill trees would be amazing
Skill trees to spend skill points on to advance a skill, like reward bonuses or tool durability. Stuff like that
and to think, we could have had quests for all of the pets to give them some love and lore in the game, instead of, you know, they're there
im wondering if s6 just sitting around and goes, "oh palia is done.", if that the case, early access / beta shouldn't be a thing and just "full release" from there.
Even if s6 is actually working behind in the scenes and quietly developing the game, that just a bad look on them because we are left with silent treatment with no real updates.
Instead they locked pets behind a pay wall. Locking an entire game mechanic behind a pay wall is scummy
especially one that was highly demanded by the masses from the get go
Exactly. It’s on them for poor communication and community outreach
yes, this is what Roan essentially was thinking & tried to give the s6 devs ideas for, back in alpha (from my understanding).
@loud axle has had A LOT of great and good ideas, that i wish was actually implemented in the game.
like i've and others have said, pet quests to get a free pet, just the basic of basic colors, then put the other colors in the premium store as pet skins, people would still have bought them
Now they’re locking emotes behind the pay wall. It won’t be long before they do this for everything.
But I would be happy to pay a subscription fee of $10/mo for mega servers instead of this Rust and AWS crap
Like this!
im going to be honest, once elderwood came out and s6 goes, "oh hi guys, long time no see huh?" with open arms and expect us to forget what they did, they can forget about it.
I'm just disappointed that they haven't been really communicating.
I think you mean forgive what they didn’t do 🤭
Roan's abbreviated bullet points, of ideas they have had and mentioned before in the past.
Their ideas/concepts would fit very well in Palia.
bleh, im bad with english ok XD
Yeah I like Roans ideas
So am I, I’m better at Japanese lmao
That is my biggest hang up. If you are going to keep this in the beta stage and expect us to give you feedback but not take our feedback and not communicate wth is going on, peace out.
Me too. Roan and I have very similar ideas too, and it's just easier at this point to reply/show what they have mentioned than .. retyping things
Every time they add a new type of item to the cash shop I get sad because thanks to their creed, it means that whole category of item will never be something that can be earned
Games with a perpetual beta eventually become considered as abandonware because it’s not moving forward
So like, now we can say goodbye to any sort of free emote. Same how it was for pets, tool skins, plot skins
Yup, I also really love how nowhere says it's a beta until AFTER you have downloaded it.
I only bought coins once
I still wish 'trading' was more of in a neutral area (i mean everywhere is nuetral but still). Like a clearing. Can have some sort of flea-market area.
People can put things up on the stall-- which they could build themselves, and could even do some basic decorating.
Limited number of items each time something is on there-- can sell for gold or trading (like the plushes). The set price could be a bit higher than the sell price at Zekis (to compensate for time).
Would promote social-aspect, creativity with the decorating, could give NPCs more life by them walking by to say random one-liners ... and also, help accessibility side of things, since ppl could theoretically buy specific cooked meals, fish, bugs, etc.
Yep. It’s advertised as a full release
it doesnt tell you it's in beta at all on switch.
It's complete BS. They wanna say we are beta testers but then treat us like we are just money makers? Eff that.
Boy you should have seen how rough (for lack of better words) this server got when they first took off all the mentions of beta aside from the PC launcher from everywhere, and knowingly refused to label it early access on steam
It was....yeah LOL you still see defenders of it these days but man
They should’ve done it to where you can trade with players directly instead of going to stalls. Adding stalls and over complicating such a simple feature only clunks up the code
Let's face it, you can only do your garden and hunt for plushies for so long before one day you just stop logging in.
Yeah I hadn't joined the discord at that point. I was playing when it was released as a beta on Epic and just recently noticed they removed beta everywhere.
With the way they have it implemented, I agree.
If it was more in the sense of a flea market, i think it could of been okay. ... but then again, with how their code breaks a lot, i can see how that could mess up.
I have barely played since the last update. I didn't even log in for a few days because I heard about all the issues before I have a chance to log in.
they essentially scrubbed 'beta' off everything when they released it on the switch
Yeahh they never mentioned beta on the Epic storefront I believe? then when they announced it for the Switch they wiped the word beta off of everything but the pc launcher
Right. Even in FF14, you have direct trading as well as auction house. And the auction house is just a simple billboard in strategic locations
When i first started playing palia, I was like "oh yay, i can support you by doing all of this quests, npcs, bundles, etc! I can play with friends!"
Few months in, I started hearing regulars og crying for help at what s6 is actually doing and i goes, "oh that's not true.. please don't do this s6.. im just going to give u benefit of doubt.. surely u can fix it.. right?"
And now, I'm like "ok dude, you need to stop and actually communicate / start showing that u do care about us. I'm done with ur excuses."
Ooohhhh yeah I started playing right before they released it on switch
so you have to be playing the PC version and have to already have downloaded the game to even know it's a beta, or otherwise have heard from third party sources (other people/other websites)
I am playing the PC version.
Yep. It got removed from the description entirely
I remember when me and some others, were like "Just.. just give it a few months. I dont want to disappoint you, but ... you'll understand."
It's always really nice to start with, then after a few months, you kinda realize how empty it feels at times. I still like the world they have developed and made, but a lot of the times, i realize the 'void' i filled, was when i was just hanging with 1 friend and following him when he fished lol.
And the cake parties way back when
This begs the question, are they going to charge for the game on the unlikely chance 1.0 actually gets released?
I was
when they removed the mentions but it was when they refused to label it early access on steam even though they acknowledged us bringing it up beforehand, then afterwards went "oh tee hee sorry we can't change it now it's too late!", that was one of the big things that made me just go nah I'm done
honestly, i dont think this would be the case, unless it was a DLC. and even then, i would hope not?
Roan 💛
exaclty, its sad and I hope they do not manipulative us, guilt trips us once we just kinda disappears from this game i guess
Hi yes sorry I got home from work and crashed lol. Appreciate you gassing me up Ori!
Knowinf daybreak it'll be a subscription of some kind
I am not meant for early mornings!
Hahaha, of course
I love your ideas/thoughts when it comes to Palia.
I think they're at a point where it's too late in the game for them to switch to an upfront paid model, they'd lose too many players. I suspect some kind of battle pass eventually but probably not anything past it
I get you and understand. Just want to mention that your thoughts, feelings & critique is valid, too.
So the budget for Palia came in waves from what I understand. They got like 10 or 20 million when the studio was first founded, and then another 30-40 for a total of 50 million once this Discord went live in early 2021.
Was anything done specific for Thanksgiving?
With Daybreak's acquisition, they pledged another 10 million so it's up to 60 million now.
no
your feelings / critique is valid as well! I appreciate u 💜
ty Roan, knew you had that info a bit more than I do.
I didn't think so, thanks:)
That is a ridiculous amount of money to have this game be like it is.
Seriously, who is going to pay for an ongoing bug infested game that crashes every few minutes?
It’s just ridiculous. Most of their budget is unaccounted for. I’d love to see their EBITDA
there are few of us who still gives them money and idk why they doing that but, that's not our business but like "why" 😭
Yeah to only have two zones with that much money up front is wild to me.
Like consider that Elden Ring had a budget of about 200 million. BotW was reported at around 120 million.
I'd expect at least a tenth of those games :x
Pathea spent about 20 mill on my time at Sandrock and while, yes it is a game that end, the quality is just there. Plus they do have multiplayer aspect as well.
they better come up with a really good explaination about why they are the way they are (s6) otherwise, that just :/
I'm still just saddened that they laid off the CMs & there's just no CM anymore tbh.
Plus when you think about it, after level 10 there is no reason except for vanity to even have to level up further.
I think Sony is buying the Elden ring studio too
Horrible mismanagement, go look at their Glassdoor reviews, that tells you everything you need to know.
im sad that they did that and how they treat them as well :(
Enad is a travesty that shouldn’t have ever happened
I do not need to be looking for answers, they can tell us themselves but thanks for a tip
Yeah. I wish the skills were more branched off and in-depth, similar to what Roan has had ideas for. And earnable cosmetics through that
I was just saying this to my husband the other day. They need to expalnd the skills after level 10
I told them they should have been capped at 10. You could keep earning the medals and such but the EXP should have stopped at 99% to level 11... So people have things to work towards during Elderwoods and can more naturally progress. :x
I mean we get the guild coins but there is hardly anything in there to buy. I have triplicates of Tish's stuff because there is also a cap (why a cap I have no idea)
yeah the lvl 9999 don't make sense to me :/
like, i admittedly bought the builder's outfit, back when open beta started & i had the cash. Because i wanted to rep my fav skill (at the time). I really just wanted to show i liked decorating & making furniture.
I feel like, since it is a premium outfit, it doesn't really... show that or represent that? It doesnt have that same feeling that ppl would feel, or potentially even see, by it being a possible earnable one instead.
Yeah, elderwoods is just going to be a couple days of stuff to do and then boredom
If it works
Capped at 10 or 15. A sort of "Skill point" half-way through to branch off. And expand upon when elderwoods drops.
Also the cooking is broken. At least mine is. I can hardly chop an onion now without failing 10 times and trust me it's not that hard. Something is off about it.
One game I know has a system where, upon reaching level cap, you can continue to gain exp, but each "level up" keeps you at the same level and hands you an item instead. They could have easily done that and then awarded guild coins for leveling "past cap"
Day 1: crashing and disconnects and npcs not showing up to advance the quests. And S6 will just say “restart the game multiple times, maybe that’ll work?”
This will be only after the release is pushed back because of bugs XD
That’s implying they actually test it first, which they won’t
There have been tons of suggestions to make the game better since Aug 23 and S6 hasn't implemented any of them.
And never will
And people wonder why some of the community just trashes them.
The suggestion box is just for people to create their own false hopes
The funniest one is the one where they tell you there is a item cap but don't show you what it is and you had to use a free third pary app to figure it out.
I doubt those messages even get read
I think at some point they basically decided that their goal for Palia is to get people to play it as little as possible.
Like, it's not meant to be your main game. It's supposed to be the "side piece" of video games where you take a break from whatever you're actually playing to log in for a half hour.
That's a great way to make money and not go bankrupt....oh wait
The second someone fawned over the huge frogbert they knew what the roadmap would be.
Frogs, plushies, RNG BABY!
Yep... Their target audience truly seems to be "people that don't play video games" which I've always thought is an odd group of people to target for your... video game
I just am calling it Plushia now
If only they listened to people who put 200-1000 hours in the game, but where can we find those people
I do have a question regarding daybreak, do they have the reputation of silent treatment like s6 doing? But now i think about it, s6 didn't had any collabs I think so their reputation is already messed up anyway
when ppl say this is the most communicative devs they've seen for a game or something, i always kinda look to the side.
or ppl think this is how MMOs usually are.
their reputation is moreso, they'll take games, bleed them dry and fill them with microtransations. they usually end up dying.
They basically microtransaction all their games and from there the squeeze happens
lmao, look like daybreak is already doing that, good job 😭
It was like that before Daybreak
I know but like it so worse
Which if anyone notices the biggest sections of their updates....🌠 premium🌠
I feel like this game is being made for kids. The plushies, the super over the top outfits, super simple content, they can convince their parents to spend money becasue they are invested in the vibe and not the content.
Paid cosmetics and plushies. Run around and not get plushies because your RNG is set to high
The sad part is they really were back during early testing. Like I haven't had many experiences actively participating in conversations with devs that wasn't private mod channels or what not.
The CMs were great as well, even when they had to "steer around" conversations they knew they couldn't have such as... "where's the roadmap?" lol
ah so like fortnite? 😭
No, fortnite makes money
But they silenced our prayers to RNGeezus
It is rated 10+, so it fits. esp with them continuously adding in visual effects and flashy ones.
I dont agree with the rating personally, but i digress.
A ton of it
I do not want to talk about how long I have to find a final pearl for einar smh
And the game is actually playable
Tamala alone should warrant a PG13 rating lol
I remember you talking about that! And the one specific CM that we know, she was super communicative and did her best. Even though we all knew sometimes, the info was wrong, but she did try to correct it, or mention she'll ask and let us know. Miss her. Hope she's doing well
tamala is too spicy for 10+ rated game ngl
Tamala alone is... .. I won't get into that
This game was MEANT for millenials like fr. If they focussed on their millenial and Gen Z playerbase, they would have to be pumping out GOOD content and that's just too hard apparently. But if they did they would get some super loyal fans.
What is this new made up game "spam pot" Did that just start?
hotpot, but you just press space repeatedly for the game to finish as soon as possible.
Been around for awhile. Just easy ways to get coins and finish quick
Not to mention the double entendres all throughout the game’s dialogue
So... much like most of the things S6 implements, they're kind of scared of competition and having "winners" and "losers" so spam pot is basically everyone just mashing space bar to finish the game as quickly as possible without actually playing the game because everyone gets the same rewards anyway.
They don't need to even target a specific demographic, if you make a quality game, the people will play.....and playing people pay money
ESRB: 10+
S6: but you need to be 13+ to play online
Game: online only
True
People are so nasty about it if they call a table and you don't play that way.
not to mention, their "solution" to spambotters are to add more tables, nothing else
I usually don't mind these in games but some of them (specially in Tamala's case) feel so out of place considering the rest of the game.
Yup
S6 doesn't even know what era their making the world
It's all just a messed up cluster that will take some time to be salvaged
Yeah I'm not a huge fan of it as it's basically bypassing gameplay and it's unfortunate for people that DO want to socialize and play. Like I'm a huge board game / card game fan so it'd be right up my alley but I definitely play to win. :S
I think they could have at least incentivized trying to win by giving the winner a couple extra coins and everyone else the same participation prize but meh.
Good thing this game will never come out of beta, they can tune it all they want
Yeah it's a waste of my time and boring to just spam press a spacebar
I just think, as well, having a way for ppl to have at least 1 table to put on their own plot would be nice.
I'm not a fan of the fact players have resorted to it due to how bad the RNG Wheel is
Clearly it’s before the dinosaurs. The dinosaurs came and ate the majiri, grimalkin, and everything else. Then somehow the evolutionary chain decided to do humans again, as if it worked the first time
Yeah. This game is struggling even rn to retain players. It's going to die next year
That is definitely another culprit for sure.
Like, if you could, i would 100% make a new plot so I could just... make a gaming corner/area. dedicated for that. The arcade machines and the hotpot table in the middle.
I feel like it has already. The last couple of games I feel like the servers are so empty
Even in Bahari which is wild
Twist: the grimalkins ship is what killed the dinosaurs
gimme arcade (I almost said arcane..)'s machine back >:c :p
The Steam population for the game is down over 35% now since July. :S
I would be so willing to even have my game open for a lot so ppl could randomly come over to play hotpot and stuff
I'm still in populated servers but I'm not surprised if it's dying down for the holidays n stuff. But also the game being very broken rn
They are back
The slow decline will happen
I don't believe u, prove it :o!!! /j
you can find them in the underground again. even tho the patch notes called it an arcade cabinet
Why would they do that? Then you might find players you can actually form a friendship with instead of just randomly talking to people.
They’ve lost more players than the gains put together
Last year they were always above 10k, I only pulled like 6 months
And the money too. It's a shock how the company isn't bankrupt yet or even the top people
They got bought out, they already went bankrupt
Honestly same, I used to enjoy attending and hosting parties so much, being able to host actual games at ones plot would be so fun. Kind of how like house parties in OSRS.
Also, and I didn't know this before, but they look to see how many of the player base has completed the quests before adding in new content. So you have all these accounts that never advance holding back the ones that do play.
Their revenue for last year barely broke even with their investments which... also doesn't bode too well.
I bet daybreak is gonna cut their losses soon. I doubt even they want to hold onto a game like palia
Which is why I'm beginning to believe Daybreak only acquired the game to sit on the IP.
Because they aren’t using the money to actually develop the game. They’re using it to stuff in their pockets. AWS basic servers are free.
We will get more outfits, price will slowly creep up, whales will still buy...repeat
Imagine daybreak bringing the game back when it dies and actually making a good game with f2p earnable clothes
what is with the word, whale come from? i don't understand that context in this :/
Fat rich people
People who spend ALOT of money in video games
ah okay hm
Whales = people who spend ridiculous amounts of money on games, some making themselves into debt for it I assume
If they are buying in Palia then for sure
Since ONE cosmetic item costs more than most games out there.
I saw someone who said they were gonna buy the entire store and even did calculations for how much it would cost...
A backdrop costs $25 XD
I honestly thinks they should either 1) lower the price on premium stuffs or 2) get rid of it and change the system to something we can earn FREELY from.
Which is why when I first heard of the acquisition I was confused they weren't pouring more resources into the game. With Daybreak being a bigger company, they could've provided the resources S6 didn't have on it's own.
For the backdrops? One of them was def $25 when first released
I don't even dare to do that. I'd be surprised if it surpasses the total cost of every DLC in the Sims 4.
OH well the last one was cheaper. Sadly I bought 4 of them before I came to my senses.
Shipwreck and Galewind costs 2550 coins
I'm sorry I bought shipwreck
But that means less money in their paychecks. Have you seen their starting salary? It’s more than what Intel pays their fresh hires
Daybreak's total revenue last year was actually less than Palia's. 45m I believe I read.
They acquired S6 for 5m + a "contingency bonus" based on how well it does over the next year.
Loool
well then.. they better come up with the good plan about premium because, it is way too expensive and unnecessarily too high.
Daybreak about to lose money from that investment then
They start at $125k a year lmfao
Like I said. The budget is going into their pockets
to me, its feel like they goes, "oh man! players are paying, let be greedy and increase it! mwhaha" when we are broke as heck.
Yeah we have the option not to buy but i feel bad for people buying it still.
They pay to play a buggy mess, that's on them
eventually we will run out of $ and we just nolifing palia just to please s6's pockets
I think that's one reason why so many of us are so vocal about the state of the game, especially to new players. I don't want people like me coming in and going "oh this looks cool I bet it gets so much better" after a couple hours of gameplay, dropping $60, and then realizing another 10 hours in that... oh wait, it's exactly the same as those first couple of hours.
I wanna go back to FF14 but I need someone to play with lol
Palia keeps kicking us out
My husband and I have decided to play Ori for the fifth time instead of continuing to play Palia
But think about the new plushies
exaclty! i feel so bad because, i can easily use my $60 for real stuffs than cometics. If they lower it and not too expensive, i will maybe consider it. Until then, we are better off spending our $ toward something else that's are worthwhile.
Such a good choice though! My second favorite Metroidvania after Hollow Knight.
everytime someone says "Ori" [as in the game] it always makes me do a second-take. 🤣
(But also, the ori games are great and fantastic.)
YES hollow knight omg i love so much
I have ori! i should really play that and finish it xD
What sucks is the majority of the playerbase do not share the same feelings.
I haven't played Hollow Knight yet. Hubs has and really likes it but I just keep going back to Ori. I'm obsessed. Both games are absolute masterpieces.
i've even made a hollow knight OC that i really need to try to draw again, since i've improved my art. i love that world sooo much 💕
They really should reduce the price of the cosmetics, it's specially rough for those of us outside the US with the exchange rates
I understand! /gen <3
the fact that they dont convert properly or whatever (not sure how to word this properly), to the other currencies, is honestly so upsetting.
Ori and the Blind Forest was great but Will of the Wisps was utterly fantastic. I love when a company / developer knows what they did right and what they can do better on and builds on that to make an even better second game.
Yeah. My best friend was killed in a rollover so I got nobody to play it with anymore
They do convert it, it's just more expensive to anyone outside the US
Don’t mind me. I’m just lurkin’ and being nosy. I’m not doing shiznit on this boring holiday.
The Will of the Wisps was definitely a good example, of somebody using the same formula but improving on it, and even adding new features. but without taking away the vibe & feeling of the series as a whole. I love it.
I've been hoping for regional pricing for so long, I thought once they launched on Steam perhaps they would start working on implementing it but nope. I've lost all hope they ever will 💔
This! I say all the time that I love both games because they are the same universe but so different. I was worried the second would be basically the same game all over again. S6 should take notes
I swear if s6 goes, "oh u guys are wanting us to do something about the game? why its not in my feedback forms?" but problem is, we did and we are tired of them not taking our feedbacks (when feedbacks are actually useful in some aspect) for those who didn't do it, i do appreciate some who did tho
Yep, the only time I've actually purchased something was when the exchange rate to dollars in my country was at an all time low. Otherwise it would've been really painful lol.
I read that as “oh u gays,” and the same is still true. 🤣
Yepper, it sucks but that's the way the business makes money
lmao keli XD
I can genuinely say I’ve given up on using the feedback forms. DON’T HATE ME, OKAY?!
It's a lot of work for things that we can't even guarantee are being read at this point without a CM to organize them.
Those feedback forms are just to waste our time lmao
we want cm back please
If I get bored enough, I’ll submit something in iambic pentameter.
They can't afford a CM
What is CM?
Community Manager
Community Manager
Ooohhh ok. What did they do? Chat with people here on discord?
Middleman between the community and the devs
Of all the positions they’re hiring for, brand manager is one of them which says “keep the community engaged with strategically timed communication”, which isn’t exactly community engagement. More like a periodic message that we can’t reply to
yes, take in feedbacks, suggest to s6, and.. uhh the og probably knows better than i do
yeah..
This is going to sound like me being a smartbutt, but-- Managing the community, heheh
But yeah, they essentially try to convey the feedback ppl may say in discord or anywhere else, and pass it on to the devs. As Swaggy said, being the middleman between the community & the devs. They may even create content for the community as well.
Essentially being like the "Voice" for the brand/company etc online, and even trying to like, make a positive online presence
I understand that all too well, sadly. But it's also just the fact we have no way to earn cosmetics in game, or even the paid currency.
Animal Crossing Pocket Camp was a game with a lot of items that needed paid currency but at least we had a way to earn said currency in game.
League of Legends has their in game earned currency (BE) and their paid currency (RP) but you can still get the skins and most other cosmetics by simply grinding the game.
Then there's OSRS which allows you to buy the premium membership with gold earned in game.
So, there's definitely ways they could both earn money without bleeding the players dry. It's just sad because they're only turning into another EA at this point.
The player base won’t see a slow decline. Judging by the numbers shared, it’s going to be fast
The CMs had a lot of different duties spread out between them:
- Heading the mod team
- Being active on Discord to answer questions / engage the community
- Running events
- Heading the wiki team
- Helping out streamers / partners
- Compiling feedback
- Typing up patch notes
Probably more I can't think of right now as well.
Classic, i'm shocked a Mod hasnt yelled at us yet
You're very much appreciated Keli!
Love the attitude.
Let’s see how long that stays.
That's what Daybreak does, I doubt we will ever see anything free to earn.
CM is definitely not a easy job and I can understand why it's isn't for some people but, I appreciate those who were CM and passion about it!
I got yelled at in the switch group for criticizing S6. I got told to stop b****ng and help them fix the game. Like… that’s not the customers responsibility, you think I’m gonna do that for free? Lmfao
I will say the mods have been pretty great here about actually encouraging the critical conversations. Sometimes we do have people that want to shut it down but the mods will chime in that no, we can have the space to say our piece.
Depends on how spicy we get, I would enjoy another timeout
I try. I try. -bows-
You have to have thick skin and be good with people. I’d actually be perfect for it because I was retail management before I went to work for Intel 😂
nice lol
Honestly, I’m very tame/mild compared to others, but shall that day come, I can get spicy.
I genuinely would love to be a CM. It's one of the dream jobs that i think about a lot and always go back to. but alas, no degree, no experience, so that can sit in the background
Yeah the toxic positivity gets a bit out of control sometimes. I try to remind people that without criticism, things can't be expected to get better - which is how we got to this point in the first place, because early testing groups were very much mostly very vocal superfans who weren't giving (in my eyes) very targeted or useful feedback.
What’s funny is their work experience required. Which is more than the company has been around for LOL
Makes me want to say “gag me with a spoon”
They should get a QA dept....oh wait
Beta is the most important time to criticize too
People annoy me too much for me to ever be a CM. 😅
That’s posted too lmao
Not according to some players lol
Not filled? Who would have thunk it XD
How much do they pay 👀
Starting is $125k, so it’s gotta be really bad work environment for that to not be tempting
I mean, in a sense same, but i feel like I'm pretty good at putting that to the side & still being neutral
Altho, i guess that depends. when ppl start being ableist or something, i kinda struggle to continue to be nice 😅
If I can WFH, I could check out for a few months and BS my way through...because I wouldn't be leaving my current job.
Honestly, same. Yet I worked in sales and customer service for almost 2 years
All positions can be WFH according to the requirements
Do I dust off the ol resume
Don’t forget to only be dressed from the waist up
@fiery perch @marsh depot I’m just a burnt out Millennial with a short fuse. 😅
Gather round for another anecdote from grandpa Roan, everyone...
At one point during testing we had some small group discussions targeted at various quest lines / NPCs, almost like a college class where you'd write a post with your thoughts and then we were encouraged to respond to others.
A lot of my groups' responses were basically "I love this NPC the questline is amazing no notes" which like... It's great if you love something, but for it to be targeted and useful feedback you need to hone in one what you love and why you love it.
So of course I did my natural "Roan hot take" where I remember just absolutely hating Tamala's entire quest line and I had a bunch to say about it. It was very repetitive (Basically a fetch quest where you had to go talk to the same NPCs not once, not twice, but three times over the course of her friendship levels) which just wasn't doing it for me. Plus the toxicity of how she plays "hard to get" was just not cozy vibes either.
I'm honestly not even sure if it got changed or not, because I was so apalled by that quest line I never bothered befriending her when beta went live.
Always, I WFH now, I can dress the part
Just don’t stand up and walk away mid video call. 🤣
Grandpa Roan? 🤣
(appreciate u)
I got a wheelie chair, I will just slide over hahaha
If you’re a grandpa, then what am I? 😭
Fair. Grandma.
Oh but it’s a requirement, otherwise you won’t get the reward of a call from HR
I appreciate you hahah
slide to the left, slide to the right
I don't know which I found more annoying, the customers or my coworkers
I honestly don't fully remember a lot of her questlines anymore, because after the vibes she gave me, I started skipping dialogue or just straight up ignoring her. She gave me the ick, to put lightly.
And I also agree with what you said, of course
B O T H
am i crazy or underground servers not changing items???
Do you remember the unalive yourself tones? They are still in the game.
Listen I have a very physical job my brittle bones aren't what they once were 😭
I say this as I’m only one year older. 🤣 But, fair. My knees snapped, crackled, and popped the other week, and my partner was just like 👀👀
I'm not sure I ever fully picked up on that honestly, but it could very well be the case.
Oh they were there....subtle but there
Some aren't as subtle, tbh. :\
HR: “We’ve received multiple complaints on how you’re too good looking.”
have it been bought to s6's attention?
Especially from Hassian
....they made the game
yes. it's just how (at least one character im thinking of) dialogue is.
Is this actually a thing?
Yeah one whole questline is about it
I even tried to give feedback/mention it lightly int he discord, and ppl essentially said it's fine, because it's ""realistic"" as you bond with a friend, and being open about it. and im just like ... ok?
i guess.
Been a while since I did it, but if I remember correctly drowning was heavly involved
thats just yikes
I honestly skip through most dialogues so I've never noticed but damn 😭
Chrissy wake uuuuup, I don't like this Chrissy >_<
I mean, there are definitely ways to handle those subjects in games ||(Shane in Stardew Valley)|| but that's disheartening.
Ok, a friend growing up. We were fresh out of high school. He wanted the job as school janitor at a middle school to raise cash for college. He was turned down and told it was because he was too good looking and they didn’t want to have the student body distracted.
It just was another character i just avoid a lot, because that stuff is very unsettling for me, esp when I play a game to be... you know, relaxed and, for lack of better words, cosy? comfort.
to play something and then having that kind of stuff pop up, is... not great.
he was underground LMAO
OH yeah, this seems to be common rn with them lmao
still? oof
You think they fix bugs around these parts?
how else will auni fill his bug collection

The sad part is they do fix them sometimes, but then they just pop back up a few months later
YOu better start grinding for him....rng is more too
cough cough wallpaper bug
flashbacks to my cafe wall always reverting to wood paneling
I still can't connect to the Bay 80% of the time without spamming reconnect
Delayed but to whoever said that when people started fawning over frogbert, S6 decided what their roadmap would be..... oh god how does that feel so real and painful
The hotpot bug especially
beginning of the "end" LOL
Not to mention being able to apply a floor to the roof of the gazebo, it’s not even a glitch it fully lets you do it
Anyone else remember the bug hunting quest for all the players? Man I wish we got more than......1 of those
I liked Tamala’s aesthetic, but the fact that there are folks IRL like that (ex. “Go do this, this, and this for me, and I’ll do nothing for you ever) is so off putting. She has the best house and is very aesthetically pleasing; I just understand why many players despise her, and the ones that are obsessed view her as “dommy mommy” and/or are probably a bit narcissistic.
That green cylinder plushie comes to mind as well.
I remember Pocket Camp would do a bunch of these every so often 😭 I still can't get over service ended today
The meme that made a plush XD
That was definitely a "okay how do we keep players logging in" thing but at least it was something for players to do
It’s the miniature version of the home run bag from smash bros
That was our 1 MMO aspect
oh god that stupid green cylinder lmao. honestly the cylinder didn't bother me as much, it was cute, but frogbert felt like a forced meme
I think it's cute that that became a plush, since it was a bug, but i feel like it was almost overbearing/overdone in a sense, too
Ngl, I usually stray away from the Tamala simps lmao
this is probably why i dont like frogbert that much. bc of how forced it felt hahaha
same, i honestly dislike the vibes of simps they been saying in this server x.x
Don’t let tamommy know
You're telling me you don't like small.....medium and GIANT FROG GASP
It was @sudden bay (hope you’ve been doing well 🖤)
I absolutely never got the hype on Frogbert. It’s ugly (that’s subjective), and the biggest one is just obnoxious. I’ll admit that I did like Cyl, though, and didn’t mind acquiring 12ish of those.
I got Hoddady on my side, she can't hurt me /j.
We're basically what they used to call "latchkey kids" now. A few stuffed animals here and there to make up for us having to fend for ourselves. 😆
Like speaking of forced, wasn't frogbert the thing that they were like "the more steam wishlists we get the bigger the frog gets" (idk if it was frogbert or something else)
I think it would have been a fun April Fool's Day thing but the fact that the frog was in the game for like, what... two months? Excessive
Every time I call her traumala, the simps come out
yes
i liked that we got the big frogbert, was just funny to me that we got 2 extras
It's so true though! and I love my Cyl family
yea and we didn’t hit the mark but they still gave it anyway cuz we were close to it
I thought it was longer than 2 months, it was like the whole summer
Yep lol. Reminds me of how in Honkai Star Rail there was this meme about trashcans, and Hoyo decided to run with it. People got fed up with it real quick, but they're still forcing it lmao.
Yeah that put a really bad taste in my mouth cause like it was just artificially inflating the wishlist numbers. which I get why a company would do that, but it's still kinda scummy to me
you'd get a ton of people wishlisting a game they already played just because f r o g e
Before diving into her character, I was definitely a “Team Tamala,” but after progressing her friendship AND romance, I was just like “girl, no,” stop being a [fill in the blank].
i think one month was a bug and they didn’t know how he stayed
I honestly like the trashcan thing, just because it has felt like an actual running joke. It didnt feel as forced like frogbert did.
It def was more of a surprise to me 🤣
The fact zekis fur turned purple
Oh everything around that time was just preparing for the Daybreak acquisition.
A group of us were honestly wondering if that's where it was heading when we saw the constant login rewards and incentives to get those daily interaction numbers up.
That double entendres was something
I have a Cyl army, and they’re just sporadically placed across my plot, as if they’re human.
Mhmmm. definitely
Y u p I was definitely one of those people lol. They were going hard on it
And it was the best MMO time for the game, ironic
Like the completely real and totally not made up community bug hunt thing.
Homegirl has zero accountability.
I honestly didn't mind it because the events they made were so fun lmao but I know people on reddit where like "STOP IT WITH THE TRASHCAN ALREADY"
I liked Frogbert at first but then it just became really forced.
We should be able to fire the cannon
i know! like omg, the community did so much for that. can't believe we got that many bugs for that /joking
LMAO yeah, like it actually FELT like a joke and in a sense more organic than how frogbert was/is
WHAT?! You mean that was a set up and we were going to get it anyway. (btw, never a bug did I kill during that time)
something something we already have enough bugs in the game
auni just fills your mailbox with them
I honestly don't mind her too much, but she is just like if they put Mother Gothel in the game with sliiiiightly more depth.
I put the large one on top of my pier because I didn’t know what to do with it.
100% like can you imagine how mad everyone would have been if they'd been like "oops we didn't make the goal oh well better luck next time"
ok but what kind of bug
If we mean actual bugs, then like .. 👀 i dont mind. that's a fixation
But like... game riddled ones? maybe that's why my wall for my cafe is never fixed....
I would love it
I just sank mine in the lake on my second plot since it felt appropiate.
i can just imagine the community getting upset at others for not contributing enough :s
ah man, that would have happened for sure too
You mean like @sudden bay
You guys did well without me
We pickup for our team ❤️
considering how easily the community can get riled up at each other, m a n it would have been messy
Skateboard is still broken, as are the blue candles. But hey! New overpriced cash store stuff
oh, i mean... me too 👀 i barely caught any of those bugs, unless it was for testing purposes during that time
What's wrong with the blue candles?
I've already seen it happening in an in-game community event, so definitely.
oh, and how they did that event and then afterwards dropped the bug plushes. not great timing 🤣
So you were the other player!
Wait, what is broken about the blue candles?
The short ones can only go on the floor at the moment
I put a short one on a crate earlier.
Mine are on a table?
Honestly same, I can't even remember if I caught any at all back then.
guilty
Don’t move them. It won’t let you put them back
You won't be allowed in anymore community events from here on out......
God, that sucks even more, guess I won't be back to decorating in a while.
At least the candle light now
And the cute little light flower things, from maji market
I'm still triggered by the bugs after I spent weeks researching for the wiki and then they up and raised the catch rates on me 😭
oh noo... what ever shall i do... slowly alt tabs back to Enshrouded to build
when I was still playing I used to say "the game already has PVP, it's called Bahari" because of all the arguing I'd see over nodes. and we see it with people fighting about the hotpot tables too. I know there was another thing that had me raising an eyebrow that had a lot of drama but I can't recall what it was now lmao
Oh, the Bugpalooza thing?
I thought that’s you’ve all been talking about all along… 😅😅
I'm honestly so upset for you 😭
And the bug display frames
All I’m missing is the starred rainbow butterfly. I’ve caught like 13 of the nonstarred ones.
And the skateboard, and the… you know what I’ll be here all night if I continue
Yeah I don't think I ever saw a starred one. I caught like 10 regular :S
LMAO fair point. Reminds me of the players who will accuse you of cheating for using the overlay.
I have like 20 starred, let me gift one to you.....oh..NO SOCIAL ASPECTS
I beg to differ .. 👀
Also, from me talking about a cafe and having a small tavern area, i'm sure it's easy to guess what i like building in games. 🤣
it's always my go-to
Flow trees
Also just admitting to my own vanity I do sometimes log in to the wiki to make sure people haven't destroyed my pages
there was a whole Thing about that granted because S6 couldn't quite decide for a while whether the overlay was allowed or not
Saaame 😭 It's even worse that I almost caught one once at a grove but someone ran into it
slowly goes over to the wiki
RIGHT YES. when they first started groves and people at each others' throats over chopping them too early or too late
I was actually playing Palia this morning because why not? Finally played around with the yardwork, and I like how it’s turning out. That said, I’m 100 shy of the building limit, so 🤷🏽♀️
ugh i wish so heavily you could trade & help ppl with starred fish/bugs/everything
"first started" ... this never stopped
I saved up like 100 plushies that people didn't have for the trade update....only to find out that I can't just give them to people. Like the dumbest move ever
One time I saw people were adding in coordinates of "confirmed catches" for bugs and I was like... nah fam, I'ma hide this so it only shows in the source code. I confirmed these locations when I spent two weeks doing nothing but bug catching
Building limits are so painful when you love clutter (me crying at FFXIV.... though they're doing improvements on that end soon at least)
clutter gives me LIFE
same, i’m trying my best to keep non star ingredients and it’s gettin harder to do so
at least it's the thought that counts, and that alone, makes me def appreciate you
The bulk of mine I’ve caught during flow groves, but they’ve all been regular.
Same with fish, I’m only missing the starred Duskray and Giant Goldfish. I have the nonstarred ones.
SAME. I have my FFXIV house set up like I'd imagine a certain character's house, and in my head she'd have parts of it super cluttered and messy but I ran out of slots lmfsjah
If they ever allow us to trade starred anything. I will save a butterfly for you
this is where i think it's so silly that the higher lvl gardening, the fact you end up only having starred crops... is so silly? like. it feels like it punishes you?
bless. i think i might have one of those actually though?
but i mean, i wont say no to more...
i’d imagine only a higher chance at star not only star xD
Is there anything you don't have? I have almost everything in the game stockpiled hahah
If I ever login to FF14 again, first thing I’ll need to do is get all my stuff back that was in my house lmao
It's possible. I honestly stopped bothering keeping track when i got tired of playing the game for (lack of) accessiblity reasons, and the ppl i used to play with all drifting off after the cake nerfs
Ah the cake nerfs, another horrible update
i just hated how they talked about the cake nerfs in the notes tbh.
What got nerfed from the cake
I don't think i would of been as upset by it, as i was, if they just worded it better. i felt very talked down to and belittled.
The money from them, they used to sell for a lot more and it was basically a way to max out gold
depending on when your house got demoed it may or may not be there, I know once while I was on break from the game some bleep "friend" of mine booted me from the FC I was in with them for no reason and never told me. so my stuff went to an NPC, but I never knew and said NPC only holds it for so long. I lost so much stuff because this person didn't have the decency to tell me they kicked me lmao
So instead of uncapping the gold, they just nerf it
Yeah for the economy in a single player game
yea i didn’t like it either, and it seems most of the time things need to be looked at before the post anything cuz it’s usually “needs to be better worded”
Cake nerf drove me nuts, not because of the cake nerf but because they nerfed E V E R Y T H I N G. every dish's price
This was my first break of trust in the devs. My biggest issue was how they assured they would only "balance" the cake parties but ended up nerfing cooking overall. Back then I was already concerned by the trend of devs nerfing stuff without giving us any compensation and well...
Then the mining nerf
Had a problem and instead of using a hammer they took a stick of dynamite to it
They've been scrambling to suppress our progression any way they can for over a year now.
Yeah mine got demoed long ago. I don’t know if I can even get anything back
But what sucks is, after level 20, progress means nothing
like if there was gold trading i understand, and i guess they didn’t want ppl having mass amounts of gold right at the start but… it doesn’t stop ppl still from all most hitting those same numbers anyway
Specially when all gold is really useful for is purchasing furniture and zeki coins
It's easier to make the game a slog than add content I suppose.
Illegal rugs and paintings
From Roan's pre-alpha feedback doc, circa July 2021:
Progression as a whole seemed very fast for this pre-alpha. While players need to feel like they are always making progress in the game, I find a slow burn to be much more rewarding than quickly blazing through the game. I also worry about the longevity of the game, if players are allowed to progress a little too quickly through things.
Slow down NPC relationship gains
Increase gold prices for luxury items / upgrades
Increase the amount of EXP needed to level up (both skills and character level) by increasing the amount needed for each level.
Then the 0 coin Reths Century Egg bug, man I maxxed out goold like 6 times from that bug
oh man lmfkajsd I remember that
I remember seeing that but didn't want to risk getting banned or something for bug exploiting lol
You all just let me let my phone die. Anyhoser, HI
(I think they actually DID slow down NPC relationship gains to be fair)
I had an auto clicker setup and once your inventory gets full it sends it to you box, and the boxes don't have a limit if it's being transferred, so I got like 600000 eggs
is that why some of them show backwards reputation sometimes
That was just a visual bug iirc
yea it is i’m just joking:P
Oh, just a reminder that the Zeki bug is back for the third time
Palia is never buggy so why would you assume it was false? I had to make sure you knew because it totally never happens! 😆
this is me but not so much as the banned part (tho it happens in other games) just the idea of losing stuff
This is why we're so overwhelmed. Lived through four decades, two millennia, WAY TOO MANY significant current events, and i'm not even 40!
If they banned people for that, that would be a very poor response
Same. I miss the 90s
Take me back to simpler times.
yea, like in wow i know ppl get suspended or something for a few days (unless it was a really bad exploit)
Best we got is climate change and war. Take it or leave it
Screw it. I’m going back to the 1600s to be a pirate
WoW has a real money aspect to it though, this game doesn't
i think at most, they took away (some) ppls gold or reset it or something?
yea
Bring oranges and lemons. The scurvey will ruin your pleasant ocean cruise!
Can confirm, they never took my money
Btw... Is it me or the character turns weird?? Is it just inside of temples? Or maybe it's bc i haven't played in a while...
Yep
think they wouldn’t know how to and accidentally take everyone’s money away
Why not both!? 🥹
It's like the Army, if it happens to one it happens to all!
Yeah, i just ermember some people mentioning something like that? but it wasn't everyone.
nah they changed some of their animations so maybe it’s a bit weird now
Ah hell, ill become a ships captain for the crown
For you, you can have both. One Climate Change and War coming right up
nooo
Can I interest you in a viable medic who occasionally gets seasick but loves the ocean?
Absolutely, a medic is a medic. Always needed
Preferably vomit outside of the patient
My aim is pretty decent
Can I be on the crew....I work on computers so I don't know what position you want me on
Deckhand. Working the rigging
I need my inhaler than, but it's a deal
I can arrange that
The cool ocean air is good for asthma
Sweeeet, I can breathe baby!
At least I don't get seasick, so no vomit from me 🙂
Art will tell us nightly yarns about pay telephones and hacky sacks
We need more riggers, especially to rotate out of the crows nest
They better be the sand hacky sacks or I'm out
There are other kinds?
I need that!
I say we take over the SW Kilima dock and start a trade empire
I'll be in the rocks.
Hmmm. The "conclusion" to the prologue was a bit......lackluster and underwhelming
I can’t find one with the Jolly Roger
If low effort from devs had a visual representation
While the nameplate reward is the best nameplate in game (to me), we should've gotten more than that after waiting half a year.
Yeah, I was hoping for a sweet piece of decor
Same!
Sidebar: I just realised there's a placeable surface on the yardwork log. Great place for some of the potato pods.
With how buggy the physics are in this game, playing pool would be hilarious
You don't enjoy 4 3 min sidequests? LOL
Less funny when you realise they've somehow made it rng based
That’s when I’d take the pool cue, suddenly appear on the devs plot, and just stand there menacingly
And you have to pay to shoot at each ball. .99 each 🙂
It's not three minutes ||when you go the wrong way at the Roots Temple because the hub loads you in facing away from the Gardener, so you make it all the way back through the tunnels.|| It's okay, it's fine. I'm fine. 🥹
Yeah then it takes 5 mins LOL
All I had to do was turn around.....
Once the devs ask what I’m doing, I just say “RNG determines my next move”
rolls dice
FNAF terror
you gotta pay for that
im honestly so sad that emote is locked behind premium
All emotes going forward will be
for a sec i thought there was a huge baby dragon in the temple LOL
RUDE
"Oh, yeah, he does that" 😭
Art is overwhelming. Lol
...What kind of responses are those lol
It's wild thinking of the progression of paid items. Outfits, then pets, then landscapes, now emotes...
||the water/fire are not thaat bad xD but yea the others...|| still made me laugh tho ngl
||Right? For some reason, the earth sign always seems like theyre a... for lack of better words, a jerk. 😭 and that one is making the air sign look so... i dont even know how to put it into words.
i always got the idea that air signs are more naive and oblivious, but that response just.. doesnt fit that imo 😭 ||
big agree...
i just get so sad over the emote, in specific, because some people would of made such cute mini-game esque things with that rolling dice one :(
But now it just feels paywalled
||i feel like earth more forward, thats what was mentioned of them so sometimes they come off like that, sometimes i think it could have been a bit better xD air is supposed to be more carefree so i guess its like "yea that happens" kind of thing"||
id why i spoiler that its mentioned but oh well xD
Definitely, i feel like earth was more, definitely blunt and straightforward. But i feel like in palia, sometimes it just looks like 'jerk'
idk i still think it would of been neat if you didnt see what responses represented what element/sign. And gradually saw your 'personality' show through gameplay. I think that woulda been more neat than essentially "choosign" from the beginning
i think for important thigns they could keep the element,s but silly thigns like that might not need it xD
honestly, even if there was an option to turn on/off the elements on the dialogue options, woulda been nice tbh, i think
I just love the idea of gradually seeing what 'personality' i actually would be. bc i feel like seeing the specific element/sign influences my decision
it definitely seems like they expand the premium stuff offerings to have enough variety in a future battlepass
elderwoods will for sure launch with one, if not it will arrive shortly after
but I guess a battlepass will at least be a slight chance to get free cosmetic(s)
I can understand why the emote is premium but would’ve been nice for players to create their own boardgames
earth seems like an uncaring and blunt jerk to me honestly. a person no one would want around because everything out of their mouth seems to be an insult.
air seems like theyre stoned 24/7 and never comes down from it, so they cant be taken seriously at all cause you dont even know if theyre even there half of the time
fire feels straightforward but also very... excitable. like a dog that hasn't been trained? that's what comes to mind whenever i see some of the fire responses but they seem to just be very chipper all the time and more extreme
BATTLEPASS? for PALIA?
There's no BATTLE or COMETITION happening, how tf would they pull that off???
Just go with the flow, man.
idk why will we want battlepass or even suggest one smh
Forreal, nobody asked for or wanted that
battlepasses are not my taste tbh
Even League is changing their battlepass system now
Well, i think that's just the common name for it. But a pass that you can earn rewards for and stuff, would make sense depending on how it'd be done.
Weekly challenges/goals, etc etc. basically all that moreso going towards the contribution towards that.
I personally am not looking forward to how they'll prob implement it. I wouldn't mind if they somehow did it in the similar way Deceive Inc does-- where there's no fomo, and you can choose whichever bpass to make progress in. And choose when to buy for the premium rewards, etc. ... but i think we know, that isn't how this one would work in palia
There could be competitions based on the skills.
Fishing, hunting, bug catching can be competitive.
how so? /gen
Mine switches between water and fire, but I hate some of the responses are tied to certain personality types. Currently, mine is Water, but it was Fire for the longest. Some of the responses aren't "me" at all. I feel Fire has the more direct answers, but the exclamation marks make it seem "excited."
Omggg Deceive got mentioned! I loved their system honestly.
It's the one I always metnion as an example whenever ppl talk about bpasses lol, i genuinely enjoy how they do their system with it. It never feels fomo bc of that.
The paywalls are already a massive turnoff, if we end up with some sort of "battlepass" for what's supposed to be a community co-op game, me and my friends are walking.
yeah fire seems exausting to be around cause all the responses always have an exclamation mark
Wait are they actually talking about doing that
No, it's moreso people talking about if they did do that.
Phew lmao
While Water is more calm, some of the responses feels so naïve and helpless, in a way. Like, I'm not a fragile damsel in distress.
water may be a bit despressing and a crybaby but id rather chill with someone whos as quiet as me then any of the other elements in this game ngl
same, i do not want battlepass :/
It's not going to be a monthly battlepass tied to an event anymore.
interesting :o
So its going to be like a year round thing from my understanding, so you only purchase a battlepass once a year or so.
