I wish we were given at least an hour to prepare (a day or so would have been nice). That way some of us weren't feeling like we're wasting time preparing. Also, to allow returning players to update their game not "on the clock." I know it's a week long but with down periods, off hours, etc it does have a pressure feeling without any ability to have prepared.

Given that it's not a competition and it's a collaborative event, there's no harm in having allowed people the opportunity to be a little more prepared.

At this point i would just prefer the twitch drop rewards cause quite frankly the amount of hours i have sank into the game im slowly having troubles returning to it. as far as i know they haven't even continued the story just keep adding plushies to the grind. plushies are great and all but like i want to know more whats going on with the lore of the game. i feel like by the time they do drop more story content. i have uninstalled the game and moved on.

I make a lot of the lures and bombs for my friends in my community. And, even just for me, I would have liked to be able to have things a little more prepared for them.

My partner is also remote and it takes him a long time to update. One small update can take over an hour. For people like him, or even returners who are interested in this event but behind in updates, not having to feel the Feels Bad.

i don’t know how fair it is to assume how “unrealistic” the 25 million goal is when we don’t know how many bugs on average players causally collect within a week. the 25mil goal could be just… twice the amount or 10x the amount of what we already collect weekly. we don’t know

As someone who plays this game avidly and since release, I'm going to be honest and say the complaint is kind of valid. Plushies are def adorable and fun to collect as many as you can, but it's a lot of grinding. I think people want more story, more lore, more questing to get into and they def prioritize getting ppl in the game to collect fun stuff than provide more story content.

It's definitely geared towards new players were makes sense bc their goal in the end is to get more people to play. FT are just everywhere now, not even including the groves and now you can grow them at home and "trick" getting flow seeds from the statue.

I mean, the fact that it's FOMO, it's also feels super pressuring since it's within a week... so it's a mix of "holy crap if we dont get this in this week oh my god we're missing out on IT ALL"

it's just stressful, anxiety inducing for some. it sounds like a super short amount of time, and even if this had tons of people/players (like, to the point where ppl only had to catch super minimal amount, for clarification)... it still sounds nerve-wracking.

Evn looking at the DBD milestones for their events, for example, it gets anxiety inducing for me, and feels super pressured. It's not a great feeling tbh. Just because something is doable, and is known to be doable, doesn't mean it wont' give people stress and anxiety

Right but the point im tryin to make is there is only so much grinding i can do before i lost interest in it. Palia is slowly showing me that they want you to be on it 24/7 grindin instead of focusing on the story that pulled me in the first place. for a game thats been out for almost a year im just starting to dislike things that didnt bug me before.

I think large scale community events are a good thing. I'm not gonna knock them for it. The cynical side of me thinks this is their way giving us Something To Do ™️ because they don't have the manpower to give us huge, meaningful updates full of new story content (re: layoffs). Heck, i wouldn't be surprised if they change their update schedule altogether. I agree with Panda a about the game becoming too grindy. It's the reason I'm on break.

I used to really love playing this game, but when I started trying to complete the bundles it became too tedious. I was beating my head against the same wall every day. The balance between the amount of effort we have to put in, vs the rewards we get is waaaaaaay off in this game.

oh i understand your pain. I had this huge idea of a flower garden plot surrounded by my crops but they put a cap on flowers and everything else. To be honest i dont even touch my house anymore cause the limits they set is just annoying

So they are doing an actual gameplay community event for the first time, and there was no prior information, announced on the day it started, there is nothing in game about it , no kind of progress bar to let us know how its going or prompt to go catch bugs, there is no personal progress/milestone/small rewards for participating or encouraging it (catch 50-100-300 bugs ect) . am i the only one who thinks this is a massive let down/ poorly managed or are we jsut meant to be content with the little effort they put into things,

Basically what has helped me cope since Beta is that they have a really great foundation for a game and have some great features. So the devs making the actual content seem to be doing a great job. But the game struggles basically everywhere else with the gamebreaking bugs every update, lack of communication, lack of retaining player feedback, "surprise" events, FOMO (Twitch Drops, "yearly" ? events), lack of a smart monetization model, Cross-Platform with an outdated console. It seems like the devs working on the game are doing their best but someone or multiple people at the top are making extremely questionable decisions.

It's basically what someone like me with no business experience would probably do if I was really good at coding but had no idea how to run a business.

Here's the situation:

I got there 1st, hit the trees, and placed a honey lure while waiting for people so we could catch some buggies and maybe get plushies (since after 3am plushies don't spawn). Someone chopped while we were catching them and when the lure ended, the wood wasn't there.... So it's either so much time passed since i hit the trees, or they chopped too early and it desappeared from the ground... I'm kinda disappointed cause we were right there and they didn't wait, but that's something else xD

Even then there are things people are upset about like S6 not retroactively giving players those mixed hydrangea flowers for an earlygame quest they come from.

I'm no game dev, but any game worth its salt should be able to track individual player information on the server. There's no reason why they couldn't do that with bugs caught and then cook up a HUD with the total number.

The game already keeps a certain track of this for achievements, quests, etc. It's not actually "difficult."

To simplify this explanation (I know it isn't perfect but I'm trying to make it more easily understood), it's like every time you catch a bug, you flip a switch, and that switch is connected to a tracker, and it counts how many times that switch has been flipped.

And then it does that for all of the people flipping switches.

I can't speak to how glitches factor in because that adds a lot of variables.

Imagine a wall of light switches and a group of people. At the top, there is a tracker that counts every time someone flicks a switch. The group flicks a switch, it sends a notification to the counter it has been flicked, the counter adds +1.

The glitches are like people not fully flicking it, too many flicks at once and some not registering, people tripping, an electrical spark, etc. Too many possibilities.

But at its core concept, it's just people flicking switches, and the switches say "I've been flicked!" And that's counted.

I guess this event to me feels more like a HD2 event than a Palia event. Both are live service games, but HD2 has already had a couple of "kill x" events lately. There are so many things that this game does weird as a live-service game.

I 'm living and loving the plushie life here in Palia, but am starting to feel both burnt out and bored with them too. How long is S6 going to depend on plushie mania to keep a large group of people interested and playing the game. Any story narrative is so disjointed by the length of time it's taking them to roll anything out that the NPC and overall stories have pretty much lost all meaning for me so it's pretty much just a plushie hunting and collecting game for me right now.

I think that with the fact this is early access/beta, and accounting for the layoffs, things are just going to take a lot of time. It's not fun for players but it is what we're looking at for the foreseeable future/until we're actually in 1.0.

It might be worth taking a break/finding other things to play and checking news for updates you're interested in.

They are marketing to a specific audience. Cosmetic-lovers. That's the entire 'market' for palia's monetization.

Cosmetic-lovers will play a game to earn and collect cosmetics and make their character look good. Creating their perfect character is their endgame. But what reason do cosmetic-lovers have to play the game, if there is nothing they can earn through gameplay that they actually want? What incentivises them to play when their own personal 'endgame' has been reached before they even start playing?

I think I see your point there but not fully. I think I'm not getting it because we play for different reasons which of course is ok and cool. I just don't think it would be beneficial to the game to adjust their stance on this point sadly. If there are people who play that care that much about cosmetics and wont buy them then making winable cosmetics doesn't help create revenue and that's what the shop is there for, ultimately. It's the only true purpose of the shop and it is an important piece of keeping the game going. Maybe I'm missing something?

Since the monetization is solely dependent on cosmetics the lack of any meaningful customization and ability for players to work towards their own unique signature look is a glaring gap in their plan. There's such a limited range clothing styles and colors in the game pretty much everyone looks the same. Even some of the spendy cosmetics with the special effects are starting to blur into one another.

Even if I like an outfit, it might not come in the colors I want.

And thats not even getting into the fact that I'm very particular about my choice of footwear and almost nothing in palia uses the kind of shoes I like which means those outfits are a "nope" for me too, we need outfits to be broken up into more pieces so you can have like... not just top, bottom, and hat, but also gloves, shoes, backpack (or wings, etc) and more freedom in mixing and matching

I imagine it's a leftover of the trees on the plot originally not being plantable so they just counted them as a total plot item because they existed on all plots till cut.

Now that trees can be planted, they may not have changed that variable or struggle to go back and fix it without knock on issues

Although maybe your other plots in some weird way are still "in the background" and still cost something to have ready to load in like they can but I just find that to be...hard to process given they give us so many plots

I think they're doing this so new players have enough money to afford the stuff -that many of us already bought- in a shorter time, cause maybe they're planning on releasing something BIG soon (like a new map, or something like that) and they might not want people to feel like they have too many things left to do before that happens... Like they don't want players to have a ton of stuff accumulated just to make the experience easier/more enjoyable when the time comes?? I don't know, it's just a thought! I've seen official art and dialogues in game that make me think there might be a good amount of new content happening sooner rather than later

I find it unlikely older players will ever be compensated when gold is added to activites or events they have already accomplished. That's a time consuming slippery slope for what will probably not amount to much additonal gold. I think they've done a pretty good job - improvement still needed - around distributing new items that were not available to older players or the random gifting of useful game items we occasionally get. I personally would not have been happy if I didn't get the mixed hydrangeas, but they found a way to get them to most of their player base (some people will always miss out). Important to keep in mind older players may have also had access to past higher gold values (cakes, starstones, seeds, hunting, more) that have since been nerfed and new players can't benefit from.

Yo, are trees a resource or are they just decor? Because they don't really reward you much for the effort as a resource but they are charging us as if the amount of effort it takes to get a mature tree is worth it when it's way easier to just farm wood on the main maps

Like it takes 10+ in-game days to get a tree to maturity to replace it for what takes seconds in the regular map.

I'm guessing they count as an inventory item because otherwise it would be a way to store unlimited amounts of flow wood - which does take up inventory space. Some people have hundreds of trees and dozens of seeds going at any one time - that equals a lot of potential flow wood

I get that it counts as potential goods but like, I mean...you still have to place and chop it down. For regular trees just go out and chop and you'd pretty much accomplish similar wood gains as if you just went into your inventory and brought all the trees out and chopped them down. It doesn't take much time to get a crap ton of wood in this game.

yeah grove spawns don't take usual spawn locations into account. though before groves were added i did once see a proudhorn in pulsewater, so it is possible to chase it into the south (though there's a risk of it glitching into the wall between north and south)

Mixing station + Milk maybe?), boil an egg then cut it (or just cut it), take some lettuce too (starting ingredient maybe), stack it all on the bread and you have a nice plate with three or four sandwiches (one meat, one cheese, both of them with a slice of tomato, some egg and some lettuce, one bread with tomatoes, lettuce, maybe sprinkled with green onion rings...)

The way the gardening system works now is a lot closer to how companion gardening actually works irl though, and if it were just using rotations you wouldn't be able to arrange them so there's multiple buffs. You don't HAVE to plant them in strange arrangements if you want to tend them all the time, but if you set a pattern and stick to it you only have to tend at turnover time and it's great

I replant as I harvest, each of all type at once and fill the holes so it takes no effort to maintain a good pattern once it's setup

I would hate to lose the ability to have my garden constantly watered and weeded with no effort with a switch to rotational buffs

Yeah, I usually use crop rotation and grow everything at a steady rate, harvesting as I need. When crops get low I do a set of one plot per crop for those I need more of before going back to steady crop growing.

I can't explain the tooltips but I can explain the true value. the value of a cooked recipe depends on the value of the ingredients used. there's lots of recipes where you can use differently priced ingredients so the result comes out different depending on what you used.

the calculation is fairly simple, just the non-star sale value of all ingredients added together and that sum multiplied by 0.375. the result of this is the value of each individual resulting dish, not the value of all 3 total. I don't recall how the game handles the rounding though. when you use star ingredients it doesn't increase the value of the result, it only increases your chance to get a starred dish in return. and starred items are 1.5x the value of their non-star counterparts.

*(unless this changed in the most recent update - though I hope the only part that changed was the ingredient values)

The type of ingredients used. Quality as well. If you need to use bass but have Bahari Bass and Black Bass, each will change the price.

Prism trout, rainbow trout and cutthroat trout can be chosen from for trout dinner. Each effect price differently.

In dishes that require any fish and you choose a basic one over uncommon or rare that changes the worth too.

Star quality also makes a difference. Star quality sprice sprouts, dari clove, heat root, and sweet leaf exist. They also change the price if accordingly.

In recipes using different fruits as options, apples will always increase the worth of your dish over using blueberries.

Best thing you can really do for the ladybug and beetles is to group up with a few others and gather/mine together
afaik each person gathering or breaking a rock is another chance for a bug to spawn from the same node

although in the case of mining, make sure that one person breaks the rock fully before the next one starts mining it

Bad RNG luck. Drop rate RNG is a cruel mistress at times. I've seen some conflicting info for the bug drop rates but I've seen 1/500 for the paper lantern and 1/250 for the lunar moth plushies. Proudhorn beetle and ladybug are 1/125, but in acutality it's worse for the proudhorn beetle because I think in acutal gameplay there are fewer chances for it to drop and it also disappears into rock or landscape 10-20% of the time (at least for me)

A drop rate isn't a guarantee, it's odds, 1/500 is a .20% chance of getting a paper lantern plushie every time you pick up a loot bag. Some players get a plushie the first bug they kill other players may kill hundreds and hundreds, maybe thousands, before they get one. A bug plushie after 50 kills is lucky RNG. Luck, good and bad, happen with the RNG algorithm
