and then you have the mechanic of dating everyone without talking to any of them and having some of them react with hurt dialogue which is also bad representation of poly relationships, esp when people point at this mechanic and say "poly relationships are accepted"

because that is not a good rep of poly relationships, when its supposed to be a consensual thing that all partners agree on

Indeed! There's a lot going on in the games industry right now, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. Good in that it's pretty easy to find work, bad in that the market is kind of oversaturated so it's tough for games to do really well unless they're flawless

For cooking you have to buy ingredients that you can't harvest, like sugar, flour, eggs and milk, so it has to be profitable 🥹

I am not one that has money making down to an algorithmic science mind you, but I find that running a lot of preserves jars and glow worm farms and selling preserves and/or glow worms/manure earns me enough to be able to do the upgrades and buy the rugs that I want. I grow a lot of apples, bok choy, and tomatoes

When I was earlier in the game most of my money came from selling raw crops and mining and selling (non starred) gems though

I avoid selling my Palium (even if it's true that it can bring in a lot) because it's rather rare, but yes, I too prefer to mine and resell my iron ingots and my stones

It depends on your style of play to a degree - I appreciate having most of my money come from stuff that doesn’t rely on as much active play time so I can load up my machines and then when I log on whenever I have a chance to play I have a bunch of stuff to sell and can make a chunk of change right there.

Definitely save your palium, silver, gold - you’ll want that for crafting pretty high level furniture and doodads later

And if you’re still working on friendship leveling with npcs it’s nice to have a few of each star stone for gifts if you don’t have some of their weekly wants.

I agree with saying that the mods should get paid with something. It is a lot of work, and you probably get to handle a lot of the less nice things in the server that normal server members don't see.

From a...legal(?) standpoint, it's definitely been interesting to see the shift from paid mods to unpaid mods. As you're not company employees, I don't know how covered you are for handling things that come up, or any actions you (meaning all the mods) take that now wouldn't fall into the company's lap because you're not employees.

But honestly I have no idea, it's just thoughts that popped up now while in this chat about it :) I totally get what you're saying about making it a job taking the care away, but at the same time you're dedicating so much time and effort and getting... tbh, when it comes to accessibility options, at least, yeah.. a sliver of "yay!" but it's also a case for me, where it's a... "I'll believe it when i see it in the game". It's just been so long, and they only said "in the horizons" for them.. so it makes me hard to hold out hope. :(

Its a singleplayer game in a multiplayer setting. Parallel play at best. Multiplayer content is virtually non-existent and the one thing that does exist (hitting trees doesn't count) is cooking/fishing parties which are completely self-organized. The lack of player trading (which they excuses for not having it are absurd) also factors in. Also yeah 25 players on a server isn't very community, it feels alone.

From a personal definition, I feel the game is definitely massive in the sense that there a lot of people playing and invested into the game, and there's technically some multiplayer aspects to the game, but at it's current state of progress I totally understand why there's much discussions about whether the game is an MMO or not and why it matters. I game i adore and played for years as a kid (mabinogi) had shop blankets you could roll out and sell however many items you could fit into the item grid system slots. You could man it yourself or hire an npc to do it for you, if you logged out it would close up (it goes into inv with money and items left so you lose nothing) i adored having my own shop

Yeah, like for me, I know some of the things that would benefit me and are on the accessibility front, would probably be harder to implement, or not a higher priority, esp because of how the coding might end up being.

I made this example the other day in Accessibility discussions, fortnite has a visual/direcitonal sound system in place. It'd help for those who need it bc of hard of hearing, deaf, etc... but also for those who might just wanna play with the game volume low or quiet. Or just in general-- it's a nice QoL.

It's something that I can see Palia having in the future, and something I think would just overall benefit. Help showcase where specific sounds are.

i think there is an issue with challenge with fishing. There are some fish like the unicorn / ancient fish that took me entire days to get while playing as efficiently as possible. Maybe instead of moving the mouse, it could be clicking fast or something? Would that be easier for folks that struggle with a mouse?

IMO accessibility is all about options. S6, in the past, has had a... history of making changes in the name of "accessibility" but forcing those changes onto everyone with no other option, which inevitably wound up making things less accessible for a different group of people in the process

It's why having it as an option in general would be nice! And it doesn't have to be an instant-cast either-- could be a specific time limit to catch the fish (and same could be said for the cooking minigames), so it can still "take time" so it's at least not faster in regards to like.. minmaxers, for example!

Or something that can help with the parkour would be nice, too. Esp for the temples w/ the story. Maybe can have a party-member there who can help, and if you attempt the parkour maybe... three times max? and keep strugglign to get to the (1st) checkpoint, the partymember can "teleport" you to it, if you wanted. But again, this would def take a lot longer to implement. or even finetune it.

Accessibility is about options. It's not problematic to give players the ability to actually play the game, especially when Palia regards itself as a cozy and inclusive game.

If people are upset that other people are actually able to engage in content, then that's their issue frankly. It shouldn't be disregarded because some people want to consider themselves (for lack of a better word) better for doing something. Especially when, in Palia, player progress doesn't affect other players

Personally, as someone who has devoted unhealthy hours into this game and no lifed it- I think having autofish is fine. Accessibility is important and this game from the very beginning is designed to be played how the player wants to. You can't trade star quality anyways so the biggest things are still account tied.

I do really love fishing in Palia btw. The mechanic manages to be both very chill 99% of the time, and then an exciting challenge other times! It's kind of like IRL fishing. Mostly really boring (but like in a way that's fine), with sparkles of excitement. (Not as fun for the fish though.)
