Nai'o is offered as an "accessory" with Kenyatta, and he's nice enough. Nothing a bath and a book can't fix.

It is not the responsibilty of any company to ensure other people behave themselves in something like voice chat. That's a people problem. Just in the same manner, I will forever refuse to even speak to someone who thinks it's OK to sue a firearms manufacturer because some criminal used one of their firearms to commit a crime. The firearm functioned as it was designed. It is not the manufacturer's fault someone else used it in a criminal manner. Execute the criminal in a spectacular public display as a message to anyone else who would do the same.

Voice Chat is very intimidating for others, and is also something that can be a "turn off" for other players, and make them either stop playing, or just... not even bother. It also causes some to be rude, and try to force you to join even if you opt-out. Not to mention, kids will (and are) playing this game, and would attract even more "creeps" in that regard.

Yes, people can stop the "cosy game" kind of thing for a game, however, voice chat would also make it a lot worse. It is not needed in Palia, nor do I think it should ever be in Palia.

Honestly though, it just isn't needed. Even games that do include it can have it 3rd party. Short of taking away all choices, there is no preventing anyone from making bad ones. It's far better to teach your kids about "creepers" and why they are so wrong, why they should be shunned into extinction, and prepare them for the real world, which is even far more harsh and hostile.

since I came back to the game a few weeks ago, I've recieved 5-6 friend requests from people that are definitely weird. I've got a female character, and every single one has been from a male character. all message with some variation of "wanna chat? how old are you?" In one instance I message my friend (also a female character) on the same server and she got a friend request from the same guy, so I assume they're adding every female character. it's weird. it's gonna happen in a f2p game. I didn't see much of this before and idk why I've seen it so much recently

My only guess, as unsettling as it is, is because it's released on the switch & it just welcomes more people like that, unfortunately. Not super common, I'd say, but also not unheard of. At least once, I've seen an entire table collaborating to get the maximum possible results, and if we were in a high round (in other words, probably running out of cards soon), I'd most likely try to give it to them unless it'd break one of my own sets. That'd give me some more cards, and them the win, better than running out of cards.

Yes, the tone of the message that prompted me to leave was completely unclear, because this is text and does not carry any kind of "tone". It's just black-and-white text. I do not know or want to know the meanings of pictograms. I simply do not like them, any of them. At most, you'll get a 🙂 from me, or a 😕 from me. Their meanings are typically clear and concise enough to differentiate a "Hey, there is a harder way to do that :-)" from a "Is there a harder way to do this? :-/". It's a beta game, and little details like that can go at the very end of the list of things to fix as far as I'm concerned. I'm just curious as to what the cause might be - but if removing/replacing or removing and rebuilding a fireplace might kick on whatever particle emitter is being used, I'm willing to look at it.

As for timeouts... the only ones I've really noticed in the past 10 days have been "Joing Server..." in chat, sometimes for a few seconds, a few times pretty much all day. It's not necessarily getting bored with the event. The event is laid out in a way that makes it feel... Not event-like.

You can only do the event for a very specific ~20 minutes every hour and the shops are only open during that time period, which is honestly the most frustrating part.

I couldn't believe it when I saw Chaapa chase being recycled into the same, yet different, event. While they made it irrelevant by adding Hotpot, which don't get me wrong is enjoyable, that doesn't change the fact the event doesn't feel "fresh"

It just feels like a recycled remix.

I think not having Chaapa chase, keeping hotpot an all day thing (with a MUCH shorter time limit for starting games) and getting a bit less envelopes from it, while also being able to gain envelopes throughout the day by just playing the game would've made it feel a bit more like an event. Also having event clothing items and more event furniture or pets or something actually unique per event instead of 95% of it either being the exact same prizes as any other event or just food.

I only did Maji Market, idk if there was a Christmas event or anything since I was super busy, but this is just what I'm noticing.

it can be but pick an area you wanna mine and break the stuff there , only 8 spawn on map so if it’s broken one place it spawns another, you can get lucky especially if others are mining and have some spawn near where your mining, i usually either han north/ or south and then i’ll pick like a small route i wanna run

I guess they might be worried about server stability. Afaik Palia is the only free-to-play cozy MMO which offers a 3d open world and isn't combat based. So a lot might try Palia at release and this could eventually show flaws in the system, like zoning could be problematic, you don't want to read 1854 palians ahead of you 🙂

Not the only one, I'd say, but the other game I have in mind does have server issues as a rather common problem. Better to be careful (though, after a server bug I did see 100+ people before me, it didn't take that long to go down so I'd be hopeful).

yeah, but zoning with a lot of friends to synchronize, which again have other friends to synchronize with is a graph theoretical problem to solve. The problem with this is, that with larger graphs this can be an NP problem with extreme increases in complexity.

The other problem I see is, Palia has just 2 regions yet, binge playing for a few days and you feel as having seen most of it. Releasing it too early with too little content could alienate a lot of users rather quickly because they might think "nice game, but not much to play".

And once they are gone, they might never return.

it happened to me, this is why I made 2 other characters as well, who take it slow. My first one had wealth and stuff too quickly, money flooding in constantly and I had the feeling, well, nothing to do with all that money, there is nothing to buy after a quite short amount of time, if you are power-playing Palia. I had to slow down with the other 2 to enjoy it.

yeah, that is what I do now as well and Palia, the villagers and the story is enjoyable. Just that many might never experience that, if they play it like they played other games before, power-levelling and wealth acquiration in focus, just to find out, that there is nothing to do with it and the money cap is 300k.

I actually quite like palia for the chill vibes it has, I do think one has to create their own goals in these kind of games to give them more lasting reasons to play though. It seems a lot of things are centered on furniture and home decoration which I personally love, but I do wish there was more for others who don't care about that stuff too

hm, progress locking is not a good idea, that had nearly killed elder scrolls online, just when they opened up everything for everyone being able to play it right from the start, it took off and got popular.

yeah, happened to me in a way, I normally don't do the main quest right away, so I didn't go to Jina, which would have introduced me to the phoenix shrine and it's purpose and send me to the next one to learn about the dragon shrine.

seeing the purple shine/dust of a grove for the first time while exploring was a good experience though, I found out about it from a cliff side and observed other palians running around and cutting certain trees, which I couldn't chop at that time, but it was exciting to see how it works and what people do there.

Flip messed me up too the first 3 or 4 times... I couldn't quite grasp the concept was to press and hold the button until the dot was aligned with the other dot, then release.

Once I figured that out, never had another problem with it and never missed one.

Also, I do remember seeing a tick-box recently to switch to a cinematic view when cooking, which I tried, and kind of liked, and now I have not seen that tick box in a few days at least, so S6 could be doing some fiddling that manifests glitches for some people and not others, probably something code or driver-related.

Here's my take on clothing... The premium stuff is grossly overpriced. I get it, they're trying to make some money on a free beta game to pay the bills, maybe have an office keg party at the end of the beta, so I get it. HOWEVER... we have more than enough existing resources and reusable code already, that there is no reason why we should not be able to craft our own outfits as well. Yes, AS WELL. The major difference: The outfits we craft should have a "durability", and a limited color pallet. When our home-made clothes reach the end of their duribility, it's back into your default outfit you go.
The Premium articles should have much larger color pallets, more than the simple 3 they come with, or they should simply allow us to choose our own colors.

This way, everybody wins out - the crafter who can't afford to pay attention can still get nice looking things too. Those who can buy Premium items won't see the loss of value, as their Premium items will not degrade and will have larger color options. S6 can still keep gouge-hawking Premium items and making money, and everybody is happy.

Yeah, the Shepping party was pretty cool. I also like Subria's Arrival sequence. Really all the little cut scenes I've seen so far have been quite nice.

Yeah, it does, but.. it could just be me... I generally find it worth it. I've done a good bit of mod work for some other games, lots of different Elder Scrolls games. The last big project I did, I put out a call for people to volunteer to voice-act. About 300 hours of terrible recordings and horrible voices later, I found my 15 people, got my recordings, and when I was all done, I sent all my actors a nice little "Thank You" package... $100 Gift Card, a couple bottles of wine (for my over 21 actors) and everybody got a little cameo of some sort.

Don't see me doing another of those for a while though - that was a nightmare of work!

bit of a topic change, but one thing that bothers me about this game (still), is that it straddles the line between a single player and multiplayer game without having the best features of both. I felt this since launch and it continues to be a reason it lacks soul for me as an 'MMO'. the decision to monitize outfits, and not have anything in game that doesn't come from the store is a huge issue. I'm sure they've thought plenty about it, but in a game where you see other players, it's good to be able to show off your achievements. the lack of earnable outfits would be OK if we had plots that were tied to villages or something, but your plot is totally instanced. where's the cool rewards for reaching level 50 in each skill? there really should be a fishing/ hunting/ bug catching etcetc outfit for each skill. or at the very least coloured sunglasses or something. something another player can see and think "yeah this person has played for a bit". nobody can see your level, nobody can see your skills, all they can see is that I opened up my purse to buy an outfit. it's kinda lame. in every MMO I've played having stuff to show your accomplishments in the wider world is a big part of it. so why is palia even multiplayer or marketing itself as an MMO? rant over.

if you finished the wind temple bundles but didn't receive the final reward, the ||silverwing nest||, you can get it by going to the night sky temple in kilima and interacting with the bundles pedestal again. but if you're stuck IN the wind temple, that quest is still not fixed and you can't access the bundles.

Absolutely. Their stance that any category of item that gets monetized, will never get earnable items... That needs to go. ASAP.
As it stands, that stance has locked out players from ever being able to earn outfits, pets, and glider skins. All that's left in the way of earnable rewards is.... furniture. That's it. Just furniture. Furniture that is impossible to show off to others without jumping through the hoops of friending and inviting them to your plot first. There is NOTHING in this game you can show off to other players in the actual world itself, other than "lol I bought this outfit/pet with IRL cash".

And we need more multiplayer/co-op activities that can't be summarized as just "I fished next to someone else". "I chopped a tree at the same time as someone else." "I hit this rock with someone else." etc etc. It's basically the reason I stopped playing. Nothing worth grinding for when no one will ever see it. Nothing worth inviting your friends to when, at best, you'll be playing parallel to each other, rather than with each other.

It's rough because it was initially marketed as "play with your friends! Build a home together!" But if I want to actually do that I'll just go play Valheim I guess

Yeah I personally do not understand the logic with "anything in this category that's monetized cannot be earnable". It was a red flag for me prior to launch because I knew it'd have a major component of an MMO missing entirely. reaching level 50 in a skill should mean something, but right now it's totally underwhelming. I got the same 10 points for every level I got in fishing at 50, and a recolour of a trophy that nobody can see. Not even a different type of rod, which would be at least something if they were unwilling to add earnable outfits. I've spent money on the game too so I really don't think it would stop people buying from the cash shop. quite the opposite in fact since many friends I've got have been put off by the lack of earnable features in the game. It just means there's not a lot to strive for.

And yeah I completely agree with the lack of co op activities, which is another thing that makes me wonder who's idea this was to make this an MMO. are the same people with the original vision still on the team? because to me it always feels like this game is in a push and pull between multiplayer and single player with two different visions at odds with one another. the fact I still cannot sit on any chair or bench in kilima or in the Inn, or the fact there's nothing to tie people to 'social' spaces in game except the events is so weird 6 months after launch. I really felt it would be a priority to help foster more of a sense of community

valheim is great. to me it's a cosy game because of the feeling it gives me. nothing like building a house and listening to the rain/ storms outside next to your fire. the contrast of harsh weather and cosy indoor environments is also missing in a lot of cosy games, including Palia

Definitely agree, I think a lot of elements from Valheim could be borrowed to aid palia with it's multiplayer problem.

I know in a prior FAQ the devs actually said there would be different weather for Palia and talked about fish only being able to be caught during certain weather patterns, so it was definitely a thing they wanted to add. who knows if it will still be in the game though :/. I'd love proper building/ decorating together but my main thing with building is the solo instance. we already load into a server on our plot, with multiple other plots. I feel you should be able to see a village or community of some sort instead of just your plot. this is just another thing that makes me wonder why it's multiplayer when they never seem to lean in to things that would make it shine as a multiplayer game

I submitted this feedback through their form a long time ago tbh. Sadly I have my doubts about S6 ever changing their stance on the "99.9% of cosmetics of all forms will and forever be paywalled" thing, with the sole exceptions for non-paid 'earnable' cosmetics being, effectively, advertising the game in some form or another. (read: recruit-a-friend rewards, twitch drops)

Idk if they will change their current approach either but I can imagine it might be difficult or take a while when it comes to monetization. They don´t want people to feel any fomo or make the game feel ´´competitive´´, so figuring out something like that seems difficult.

I do think I´d much rather have loads more cosmetics, but cheaper prices (like in FFXIV). People would be more likely to pay for cosmetics then I think. But S6 knows how well their system is working and if they don´t see a reason to change it then I guess that means whatever they are doing is working out for them

see, I have no issue with a cash shop with cosmetics in a f2p game. They need to make money somehow, I absolutely get it. But the way they're handling it, what with the entire item categories being paywalled, rather than on a per-item basis, is severely hurting the rest of the game in terms of what there is to play for, earn, and what goals you can work towards.
I'm perfectly okay with, for example, the fairy outfit, or soothsayer, etc remaining 100% cash shop exclusive. But there should be earnable options too, especially ones that tie into our actual skills we can level up.

I guess that's another thing I disagree with their vision on lol. Any form of "competition" = not cosy, and it often feels like an excuse for a lack of features or depth, particularly with games in this genre. some competition is good in any game. I'd argue personal goals like reaching a certain level isn't really competitive. If you look at hotpot as well for example, that's a form of competition and look how well received that was. It adds something to the game that's sorely lacking.

As for what they're doing and how it's working for them, I guess if it means keeping the game afloat/ funded is working and that's their definition I could see it, but for me as someone who followed the game since before it ever launched, it doesn't give me hope about anything, it more feels like "we will do the bare minimum until it's necessary not to". It's not just the lack of earnable outfits, it's the way clothing is implemented as a whole that I don't get. for example there are loads of clothes available when creating your character. They could have made those craftable with silk/ leather via Jel and had an interesting system, with everyone starting with basic outfits. This way of putting clothes in the game still lacks depth to me

I would kill for even just a "pick 2 colors" system for clothing. Just let me pick the colors so I can mix and match pieces to my liking, instead of, just.... gestures wildly at the baffling preset color combinations
If I want a plain white shirt and blue pants, I can't. The shirt has to come with some extra color like teal or purple or something and the pants are like... some wacko combination of blue and orange or purple.

It's the exact same thing with furniture. I can't even color coordinate my furniture because even the same 'themed color set is wildly inconsistent about how those colors are applied to different pieces.
All I wanted was to have natural wood, red cloth on my bed/couch/etc, but noooo. I get natural wood, red cloth on a few pieces, but half the other pieces are red-painted wood and white cloth. >>

omg yes 😂, the ugly colour combos are so difficult to decorate with. this is partially why my entire plot is default brown log cabin/ homestead stuff with natural wood panelling everywhere because at least it looks cohesive. the outfits really annoy me with this too because there's less opportunities to mix and match. I just wear the brown cowgirl outfit with some blue in because I feel it blends in with the world more. realising I have a brown theme going on everywhere now

@clever cove I'd like to plant a lot of things we currently can't. With 81 individual gardening spots, there should be at least 243 different, plantable crops. That means, yes, some selecting is going to be required when planting, some thought will need to go into what you're growing and why.

As to the "competition" thing - if S6 has an anti-competitive position, they have a bit of a disconnect with human nature. Competition is part of human nature. Without it, there would be no advancement, no improvement, "Sicut satis est numquam satis" or "Just good enough is never good enough". In my community, all we do is compete.. Competitive Hunting, Competitive Mining, Competitive Cooking, Competitive Home Decor, Competitive Reknown Building, Competitive Gold Making... if we can do it in-game we can compete in it, and we do. We find it fun. It wouldn't surprise me to find out most people do this, even without organizing to do it.

Rah! That's frustrating... accidentally pressing "k" instead of "L" during a dialog to see what the heck somebody wants, getting stuck in camera mode, because pressing "k" again doesn't back out right... they should just disable camera mode during dialog.

And bobbing-tool-syndrome is still a thing... If you don't know BTS: Hold any tool in your hand and talk to an NPC. When you're done, just look at whatever you have equipped. It will raise slightly, then reset its position. It also won't work if you try to use it. Gotta put it away then reequip to get it to work again.

And I get the Market Coin nerf, but pretty sure they way overdid it. Use to be I could come it, buy a few things and get at least 1 or 2. Now it's been, since the nerf, and I haven't gotten any... glad to have gotten everything I wanted the first day... I'd have given up on it by now otherwise.
