Fishing is bugged or the Devs are nerfing it, I am catching lake sharks up the wazoo with gloworms and worms the maw plushies I have 3 and 2 giant shark blades on gloworms and worms. The unstarred devil fish I caught one right at the update release and the unstarred angelfish at the same time now I catch the mossyfin starred and unstarred by the boatloads with gloworms and worms and NO BAIT !If you look at the shapes maws have dots and tail curves in the opposite direction as the lake sharks the shape is the same so it is askew on the code for the difference in bait and type.I feel the same for the angel fish and devil fish shapes are identical its gotta be bugged or the devs are nerfing rare items to give them more time to make more bs for the paywall instead of optimizing or fixing bugs. another thing! over 1K hours in this game and I have collected and turned in the green shiny flat pepple umteen times and still no achievement

I think you may be describing when your items degrades at the end of an action, you got a pop up about rod downgrading when you caught a fish

Sometimes there have been errors where the degradation around the tool improperly shows, so that is a possibility too if you feel like it had more life left in it

So I'm at the point where I need a Maws for a recipe and it's frustrating me. The few times I've hooked one, it's moved so fast my rod health has gone super quick and it's got away. Any tips on consumables/technique for it? I use fishermans brew, rod health boost lure, fish stew etc for boosts. Is it just down to practice and predicting it's movement set?

Maws has the same movement as lake shark. So u can practice pretty good with them.
Idk if u use hooks and which one? Major safe zone size hook could be rlly helpful i think (hooks are available at einars guild store).
I personally used fish brew, the 5x boost from fishing with others and the size hook in the beginning.
There’s also major safe zone speed hook or food buff besides fish stew like trout dinner that should help moving faster.

So maybe I’m using it wrong but is anyone else have issues with the Ore Compass … I used once in Elderwood and it worked just as I expected, took me to platinum nodes and other nodes that dropped gems. I’ve since crafted and used an Ore Compass twice and while it has pointed out maybe two actually rare ore nodes it mostly takes me to random nodes, most that are just stone! It’s pointless, I stumbled on a small gold all by myself that the compass wasn’t tracking 😑

Yeah, if I didn't have two monitors I'd have found it hell tbh. The first one is the energised piranha I know that much off the top of my head, the next one is the honey loach, then enchanted pupfish, mirror carp. prism trout, platinum chad, stalking catfish, ribbtontail ray, kenli's carp, radiant sunfish, giant goldfish, cloudfish, Kilima greyling, kilima redfin, long nosed unicorn fish, cutthroat trout, (that's all i can see from your screenshot)

If they jump, stop reeling as this will continue to deal damage to your rod. Start reeling again once it is back in the water

That's true! I personally don't mind them as much just because they sell for more than the jellyfish 😂 I only fish at bubbles so I'm at freshwater a LOT less than saltwater too so definitely some bias in my way of thinking.

With the mossyfin too, I sometimes confuse them with the angelfish (depending on the lighting as I fish) so completely understand the mossyfin hate 😂

Something interesting for you if you didnt already know, there are set amounts of each node on the map and when a specific node of a specific size is mined then despawns, it will immediately respawn else where. The only exception I have found is Large Platinum, that one seems to spawn a lot less than expected. So you can ignore whitestone if you are farming Palium. All whitestone does is slow you down for efficiency and take up a spawn spot

I imagine the motion like the way you would circle a child’s skipping rope if holding one end while someone has the other end. It changes the direction of the circle every so often. And it’s a long diagonal at the end of the circle sometimes to make like a figure of 8 lying on its side? Don’t know if that makes any sense

In my experience: look at your bobber not the fish . When they go to the sides , it's worse to go past than to under compensate and stay closer to the middle, and yes only reel in when the ( ) are green. You got this !👍

If you already upgraded your pick that's all you get. You can't make more picks. Just upgrade, use them , and repair them, if you don't repair in time your pick ⛏️ will go back the the last upgrade you had.

if you're having trouble even finding one just stick with it, it took me a couple of weeks of non stop looking for it to finally get it. as for reeling it in, use all the boosts you can (i use the major safe size booster and had sushi, fish stew, and fisherman's brew effects)

I only experienced this with shark drops so far. So a friend of mine and I were fishing and we both had the luck to get the party buff on a regular shark which dropped a fin plush, but the fin plush only dropped once while we got 2 sharks 🤔

i think it is cuz the fin plush is liek u dont get it u get a random roll of getting it added on every shark caught so when its doubled shark u get 2 odds of fin or something

In my personal opinion fishing together is already a bit less satisfying than hunting or bug catching together, since every participant has an own chance to get the buff triggered. So sometimes my mate gets 3 buffs in a row while I wait 20 minutes for the first buff. Therefore, it feels like an additional "punishment" that not even a fin plushie gets doubled if you know what I mean

Fishing in Bahari and I noticed that the nodes are now despawning after 4 casts. Cast, unhook- repeat 3 more times and the node is gone. This is new and imho unwanted behavior.

You obtain the recipe as part of a quest in the Main Story line (in the Elderwood part). Just keep progressing the main story quests and you will eventually be able to get the recipe.

You can use the Elderwood Idol relic, which gives you an indcation of where the infected fish spots are, although only within a dertain range. I didn't bother with that. For the infected maws I just went around the same areas as for the starred and kept going round and round until I found infected spots. Same with the Mermaid

You just did it, really. Survey says that when you vent about it, you catch it quicker (non-scientifically, of course). Other than that, just be at the right type/location at the correct timeframe. It's all RNG. Good luck tho!

Try the boat shed near leaf hopper hill, bring a ton of trout dinner and fisherman's brew with you. Start at 3am with a bunch of glow worms and keep going, you should get one before 9pm when their catch window closes

The ore compass only lasts 15 minutes, and I had to use my first like 5+ in Kilima Valley, to stock up on silver to make more, and I already had like 1200 stone and 750 copper banked.

The compass shows Large rocks and precious metals, but there isn’t any way that I can tell to know what the rock is until you get there, on at least a few compass runs, I found no silver at all

Take that with a grain of salt though, I am only level 10 mining so I am by no means an expert on the subject, speak purely from my personal experience experience and opinions

As far as profit cooking parties for sure. But solo I think hunting cause they drop 3 types of loot, meat hide and horn and they are quick to refresh, it's even better in hunting parties

Right now I have a rainbow garden mostly of the bushes and 3 trees because it is taking a bit too much time haha. But my focus has been to prioritise apples for lures I suppose. Gardening is a bit too all over the place, so many things to plant. But I'll try some hunting, it and furniture making are my last sub 10 skills so need to level it anyway

I recommend asking DuhScape over in gardening to help you make a profitable garden, he is super helpful
But bushes arent a gardening skill unless you're talking blueberries or something
If you search the gardening channel or even just open the media from that channel you'll see a bunch of highly profitable gardens to choose from, some are 100% watering and weed free too

yeah no I meant all the 4x4 crops when I said bushes, I don't know the Palian term for them :) I did a whole tomato/potato/carrot farm when levelling up gardening, but I always needed a lot of different crops for cooking, and replanting was a bit of a hassle, but I'll check em out! :)

Oh yeah that's how it is when you start out XD but if you're 3 weeks in I honestly wouldn't worry about cooking, just make ton of grilled mushrooms. That should be plenty focus for you to fill your bar at that lvl and you won't lose so many ingredients cooking meals and can sell them as produce instead

Weird question, I've been seeing a lot of people throw a lure in when fishing but then immediately pull it out, only to throw it in and pull it out over and over. What am I missing?
I know people leave lures in the water and let fish bite until they get the fish they want, but the lures in this case aren't even in the water long enough to get a bite. The lures are in the water for like 5 secs xd I'm confused

they are using a program that shows an icon indicating which fish they will catch, the icon shows up instantly so if it's not the fish they want they reel in and cast again right away rather than waste the time/worm fishing up something they don't want

2 mudminnows which are some of the cheapest fish you can catch makes 72 coin if you just sell them. If you grill it you get 72 coin so it doesn't give us any profit at all to grill it. Make it make sense. Processing is supposed to raise the value of things.

Other than that luck of the rng as far as finding one.
As far as catching it, you can stack any/all of the following: sushi/sashimi, fisherman's brew, trout dinner, fish stew, and a good hook from Einar's guild shop.

Hey Palians, I've seen many times players who fish plushies very easily and I don't understand how, because: They throw the fishing rod in the water and take it out after 2-3 seconds without catching anything and they keep repeating this almost endlessly. In the end, they take out one plushie at a time, how do they do that? Is it a bug? Or is it about the fishing level?

Unfortunately that is a way of playing that is technically not allowed. There is this app that shows you what you're gonna catch when immediately throwing the rod, this way youll know immediately what you're getting and you can get your rod out and in again within seconds

Catching maws is really all about luck and dedication, a couple of things could help, fishing in group, fishermans brew, fish stew, a beter hook just to reel him in but finding him is luck.

yes, catching the lake sharks will also give you good practise as they have identical swimming patterns, i managed to catch my second maws as a perfect catch thanks to all the practise i got from lake sharls

also - get as many glow worm farms going as you can. if you're in fishing guild you can buy desired fishing boosts from the guild store and more glow worms using medals (though i would recommend saving the medals for rod boosts as you can get glo worms very easily through the farm)

Are you using Fisherman's Brew and fishing boosters? Another tip: when the circle goes red, stop holding down the left mouse button (if you're on PC). Otherwise that's the fastest way to drain your bar. You'll get a sense for the timing after a wall. Sharks tend to move in a Z-like pattern. The horizontal motion is typically when they jump out of the water--don't hold down the left mouse button for this. Let them have their tantrum. Continue reeling only when they are back in the water and the circle is centered and green

you can get Ancient Koi with worms in the far south of the elderwood map (any time of day) and the Umbraan Betta in the elderwood with glow worms in the evening / night in the freshwater areas. I like to use the water at the central stables.

I didn't notice a duration buff, and atm it might just be an annoyance to get gold fisherman's brews if the only difference is that they stack differently... I was also a bit sad that you cannot place the gold star fisherman brews, they look cozy haha

Also, if you’re trying to preserve your worms, you don’t have to catch every fish that bites. A fish will bite four times and on the fourth bite, it’ll jump in the air so you can see what fish it is. If it’s not the correct fish, you can wait a few seconds and let it go and it won’t take away your bait. If it’s the right fish, you can wait for it to bite again. It’ll be the same fish every time

@weary acorn Yes, you need to fish in the purple/black toxic muck pools that spawn near any regular fishing spots. You need to make the Elderwood lure to be able to do so as well.

I can only tolerate fishing with the major safe zone size increase hook from einar or always activating the fisherman’s brew (which also increases safe zone size). I can only fish in my switch now on the computer with a mouse because the mouse limits my precision. The adjusted settings on switch work better (for me).

got a starred one yesterday while digging a pile in fire temple during the networking quest

you need to carry the worm(s) in your equipment bag. Before you start to fish and have equipped your rod you can choose what worm to use (no worm, normal worm, glow worm later on). You will be able to buy a recipe for worm (and glow worm farm) -> that is how you'll get them.
It is the same principle as choosing arrows when you have a bow equipped.
I am a PC user, so I use right mouse click to choose.
