The bobber is just for aesthetics. It's mostly RNG to get the fish to bite but you can stack multiple foods to get all the buffs. If it's not the fish you want you can ignore it when it bites then reel in and recast to save bait

I like to throw out the bait tip just in case but that's totally fair. You can make 💰 off the fish.

Sushi, sashimi, fish stew, and trout dinner give buffs and there's hooks that do the same.

The health is the bar that shows up at the bottom when you're fishing not your actual rod health. Personally I mostly only use the safe zone size booster. Sorry I'm not much help. Good luck on getting the unicorn!

I guess my speed, following a deer what runs, and with fishing staying in the green limit to help catch the fish

The problem with the deer is that they glitch and poof a lot. I have gotten better at predicting where they are gonna glitch to, but it takes a lot of practice.

What is the best to do is approach slowly from behind, get as close as you can without spooking them and try for a head/very high neck shot.

If they run, follow after them, but not too closely because if you are too close, they will continue to run.

If you follow them at a distance, they will stop eventually and usually start to graze.

If they do that, then shoot them in the head from the side. That usually finishes them off easy.

For Chappas, go after them from behind and also try to headshot them. Running after them kinda sucks, haha.

everything else is break even from a worm-only point of view (saving the three jams)

no matter what you put into the worm bin it takes an hour. so if you put in one raw starred apple you get back 2 glow worms every hour. if you put in a starred celebration cake you get back 4 glow worms per hour. doubling your out put for glow worms. at least that is how my waking up mind is seeing it

It is a pain to catch. Boosters and the rod helps but can only do so much. My only suggestion is to be patient and not jerk the rod around too much of it can be helped. I've only caught one ever and that took me hours

Whenever I go fishing, as I only need epic fish, I bring: major hook size boost (bought from einar), sushi, sashimi, fishermans brew and fish stew, besides the glow worms. All those buffs combined make it way easier to catch stuff.
And ofc getting the best rod helps out

there is no prerequisite except for the ancient fish...||you need to complete the Water Bundle in the Night Sky Temple and get this message "Something in the Water" pop up on your screen...you can choose to talk to Einar or Hekla when you get to it....you'll know when..||

as for the ancient cloudminnow, ||it will be a reward when you've completed the Gales Quest giving you access to the Fire Temple in the main island, then solving the puzzle in that temple||

pray hard to rng-sus, and do the cast and recast technique to save on worms. you have a moment when the fish bites to see what fish it is. if it's one you want reel it in, if not, let the fish bite then it will go away. bring back your rod and recast, it won't waste a worm. if you missed what the fish was, don't reel in after the bite and the fish will bite again and it should be the same fish as before so you can see it

There are way more empty spawn points than nodes. Breaking stone nodes puts them into circulation and dilutes the pool of pal/iron that is queuing to spawn.

@toxic crypt the way it works for both mining and foraging, is that they share spawn spaces. so in bahari, stone and iron and palium share the same spawn spaces. people tend to only mine what they need, either iron or palium. with every node that spawns, theres a set chance for each of the materials being in that node. so if people only mine palium and leave the iron and stone, palium wont be able to spawn as much as it has a lower chance of spawning than stone or iron

same thing goes for dari cloves, they share spawn spaces with sweet leafs and mushrooms (as far as I know), and for heartdrop lily they share with briar daisies (as far as I know)

hence why every single time I change server, I put a friendly reminder in chat for people to please mine all nodes instead of just iron and/or palium

it doesnt work like that. rng is essentially that when a node spawns, theres a percentage chance for it to be stone, a percentage for it to be iron, and a percentage for it to be palium. how many nodes there already are for each material, doesnt matter

its like, rolling a dice when a node spawns. whichever number the dice gives, decides the material

if you want palium, mine every single node and friendly remind others to do the same

This is not quite correct. For example. Heartdrop lillies have about 5 specific locations they spawn in across the map, nothing else spawns there. Dari does spawn in same locations as sweetleaf and mushroom, but the number of spawn locations is much larger than the number of spawns in that pool. I think Dari is limited to once an hour per instance, but havent' examined that closely. @tribal vessel There are definitely plenty of times when there are none available anywhere on the map.

For palium.... there are a finite number of palium nodes, but they respawn somewhere on the map in 1 second. Yes. 1 second. Essentially there are always 2 large palium nodes somewhere on the map. Since they changed the palium spawn locations, there are now about 2-5 times more spawn locations available than total spawn nodes. As soon as someone breaks a node, you can find it again. The hard part is locating them on the huge map. But naturally there are more spawn locations open in high traffic areas than low traffic areas. So the more people focus on only breaking palium, then the more likely it is palium will be concentrated in high traffic areas. People tend to mine nodes in clusters, creating clusters of respawns. Which helps with that whole problem of finding it in the first place.

So I break everything in small "catch areas" near central stables and by the entrance from Kilima, then only break palium nodes in low traffic regions, like north statue garden.

pray to rng-sus, and do the recast technique to save on worms. let the fish bite and watch what fish it is, you'll have a moment to see it jump before it goes away. if it's not one you want, let it bite and go away then bring your rod back and recast it. you won't lose the worm. if you missed it by being distracted or if you weren't sure what fish it was, leave the rod alone and the same type of fish will bite shortly after.

You buy the recipe for copper bars from Hodari. For leather and fabric you can buy those from tishs register or craft them from the loom. You need to be at least level 2 in both those skills

You're doing it right. Kilima rivers with glow worms any time. If you want to save bait you can just not reel it in if it's the wrong fish then recast once it stops biting

yup, what panda said. Sometimes specific fish can be tricksy with certain players. For me, it was the Radiant Sunfish.

I’ve heard it got bugged one of the recent patches, but I’ve been playing since closed beta and I have a ton of ancient fishes from before. Glow worms, crystal lake, that’s all it needs. Lake is where Einar sits and the entire Kilima coast, btw.
You need fishing buffs like more fishing rod health, fisherman’s brew is a must

Is the best way to get palium nowadays to just.. run around and find it? Or can it be worth it to mine rocks in a smaller area? It takes so long to run around everywhere and it's way too easy to accidentally miss a spot.. But I need more palium ;_;

The way I do it is I mine around on area lets say Pulsewater and Hideaway. Then slowly ores will start spawning back. You can also expand your search to Pavel Mines and Windy Ruins as well. Then you swing back around to where you started and repeat

A tip would be not to break rocks because it can cause competition and because of how palium spawns where only 8 spawn at a time in the server breaking more spaces open in hopes for more palium isn't viable since it's been changed this way

Youd have to break spaces open then also break palium but rocks interfere with spawns as mentioned so optimally in theory breaking only iron and palium should real in faster palium and therefor more palium

It used to be palium had set spawn locations and was similar to flow trees in that the more often you broke things the more it could spawn
But now thats not the case

you will have to recast to get a new fish

same fish coming back every time helps lower the stress of timing in my opinion :)
you can check what fish it is carefully, you can even open your menu and attach a hook buff before attempting realing it in

or you can choose to ignore the fish, let it leave, and recast, and you won't lose a worm which helps for searching for specific fish
