Has anyone identified what causes a garden to 'lose' progress? Is it when the game closes without loading in an out of the plot, or is there something else to be aware of? Do you have to collect a crop or use a fertilizer or something to make the progress sync to the cloud/autosave?

Hi. I'm not sure how to do the quest for the Prove Your Devotion: grow five wild trees. I already plant and grow 5 trees which is 5 acorn. Then it didn't worked, so I did plant the Samara tree instead and grew it until it mature but still nothing. So, I am not sure what I am doing wrong?

there seems to be a bug with that quest, and a few other people have had the same problem. you could try putting the tree in your inventory and placing them again, but it hasn't always worked. i just hope they'll fix it soon

Never really tried with regular worms. Someone mentioned the apple preserves and I was curious. I just do passive income by buying the mushrooms from Zeki and dropping them into the glow farms. Mostly so I always have glow worms but I sell all the excess. I think I still make more gold per day with my tomato, corn and rice farm setup.

Though buying mushrooms, grilling them and then selling them makes a nice bit of profit while leveling up your cooking.

I use the star apple seeds for storing so I have easily gold when I need it (like when I used 700k to make a 13 gabezo of flowers plot, and that got shot in the foot when 3 didnt come out and then 10 more did)

Yeah, all machines keep going, just the garden only grows one cycle.

as long as the crafter doesn't fill up, it will keep running as long as there is stuff to process. so remember to refill your crafters before your logout for the night. some can process stuff quicker or slower, so be mindful of the times. it's not a huge loss if they run empty tho, just means you got lots done!

If you switch a pepper for a blueberry; and use corn, rice, and wheat for the crop boost, all you would be missing is cotton. And you could plant 4 cotton when you are done with peppers or blueberries.

I’m not sure I understand where the difference comes from (I have dyscalculia so this is kinda complicated for me )

so when you get your harvest amounts, theres only a certain amount you'll be able to craft and sell until you get your next batch, and that is basically limited by how many hours you'll be able to empty your crafters. I didn't calculate the amount of hours tailered to every individual in online hours vs offline hours, since that would take 500 times more math lol, but in a perfect world where you are always on time to empty your crafters, this is basically your best achievable amount of crafted results possible within 24 hours, so its the closest realistic approach for being able to chew through your amounts of produce. It's not really easily explained haha but since we can only have a max of 30 crafters (and I suppose you'll never even reach that amount even since you got some seedmakers vs some jars vs smelters/wood choppers etc) it has to be limited by sómething. You'll never be able to chew through your produce otherwise and will have to sell things raw, meaning you're not meeting the quota for the calculated gains without limitations, and thus will make a loss.

so my calculations are based on the limited (but still max) amount of crafters humanly possible to put to work on a 24 hour basis

when a crafter is working on 1 thing, it can't work on anything else so to speak

yeah i don't entirely understand how harvest boost fertilizer works. it seems like fertilizer disappears whenever the plants grow but then does this mean the harvest boost fertilizer was wasted if the plant doesn't grow to its harvest stage?

fertilizer should be added for the entire growthperiod to have the effect. so on a carrot with 3 days of growthtime, it should be applied for 3 days. but in the case of harvestboost, wheat rice and corn can give out that boost too. So if you plant 3 wheat/rice/corn next to your appletree you won't have to use harvestboost fertilizer

in case of appletrees they need 9 fertilizer per growthtick so they eat through fertilizer very quick

A crop of 16 versus 24 is more efficacy than efficiency.
That said, you can lay down 99 harvest boosts and keep it topped off and still harvest 16.
It doesn't make sense, but I've had that happen several times since the last patch.

Not to mention if you don't stay on top of the weeds they will dehydrate your plants no matter how many hydrating plants you have around them.

If your plants are dehydrated they won't grow on their timeline properly.

Which sucks, because it's just like an irl garden, lol. I play to escape my problems, not deal with them also in game 😂

Idk why people are saying to DM for it.

1. Put the flow seeds of whatever tree you're trying to get more of in your inventory.
2. Fill the rest of your inventory with anything that is not normal tree seeds (food, furniture, etc)
3. Check the gift from the Gardener. If it says "Loot" it's a flow seed matching a flow seed in your inventory. If it says "Inventory Full" It is not a seed you have in your inventory.
4. Relog and keeping checking the Gardener until you get something you can loot.

Or you can do the opposite if you don’t have flow seeds in stock, take one of each normal tree seed and the rest of your inventory full with furniture and when you try to pick up if it says pick up DONT cuz it will be a normal seed but if it says that you cannot pick it up it’s a flow seed so go put back your stuff in your chest and go pick it up!

I want to put "HarvestBoost Fertilizer" on my blueberries a day before they produce fruit so that I can increase my harvest quantity. The wiki states:

"The plant grows for 9 days, and then can be harvested. After the first harvest, it can be harvested again every three days for three more additional harvests (day 12, 15 and 18 after planting)."

Does this mean that I'll need to put down the fertilizer upon watering my blueberries the 8th time before it finally produces fruit on the 10th day?

Sometimes you don't want things watered so they don't grow to their next stage. For example when you have trees in different stages around your plot. Or you have stuff growing in your garden you are using simply for weeds and buffs but do not want them to fully develop so you don't accidentally harvest them (happens way too often, especially on a Switch). Stuff like that.

yeah like nart says if you're lvl 50 you can't get normal quality from gardening anymore. it's determined by whether you use star quality seeds (+50% chance of star crop harvest) and your gardening level (+2% chance of star crop harvest per level). if you wanted them for cooking you'll just have to use star quality instead

Right now, I have 1 blueberry bush, 4 pepper bushes, and selling seeds for cotton potato and wheat

For 100% harvest boost and 100% watered, in each 3x3 square I do:
potato-cabbage-potato
wheat-rice-wheat
potato-cabbage-potato

Seed potato, rice, wheat, kimchi the cabbage.

Easy pattern to remember, low maintenance, high yield, and potato seeds process kinda slow so you’ll likely never end up with idle, full seeders if you check them at least once a day.

Also nice that you can lay out your plots however you like! A line, a cross, a square, individual spots… the bonuses are covered in each 3x3.

Cooking parties will always produce more $ per hour than garden, but the garden can be ‘idle/passive’ income. When you get apples, put them into preserve jars and then put apple jam into worm bins. This allows you to maximize the profit per crop, which is a limited resource. The preserve jar will make more income per apple and per hour than the worm bin does but you’ll run out of apples due to how slow they grow in the garden. So about 16 apple jars 2 tomato jars 1 corn jar 1 seed maker (rotate through the crops to replant) and 10 bins is a good baseline, with this layout:

1 - i always stack to the max (99) on the fertilizer that i'm using when i plant the seeds, that way i don't forget to do so and the fertilizer only really works if it's there for the full growth cycle of the crop
2 - how ever many crafters you need to process your garden, so can't really tell you that you need x amount. i have four seeders, 6 preserve jars, one glow worm and four reg worm farms down, but i also only harvest my apple trees and i'm in no need of gold in this game right now

This is correct. Every gardening level is a 2% increased chance that you will get starred crops when harvesting. Starred Seeds are a 50% increased starred chance. So level 25 gardening is a 50% chance plus 50% from the starred seeds. At level 50 gardening it is a 100% chance for starred crops

I talked to Aisen about this and he confirmed something about lvl 36 being the 100% full on by his calculations

just lvl 50 is way too late is what I know 100% foolproof

Glow farms is a type of crafter that allows to to obtain glow worms and fertilizer depending on what you feed it. If you use any sort of "sweet" food such as sweet leaf, petit cake, celebration cakes, it'll provide you with glow worms and speedy fertilizer

OK apple tree harvest boost question: I'm gardening 100+ and yet I still have no idea how this works. I fertilize daily but at some point the trees don't take up the fertilizer. do they only need it during the pre-fruit phase? or is it one daily til fruit then one per fruiting?

Yep, mostly! It supposedly reaches 99% at level 37 and >100% at level 38. In regards to @digital tapir though, the planner's formula is based on the 2% per level hypothesis people have. It reaches earlier because there's also a presumed 25% base chance for a crop to yield star quality.

That said, the garden planner's formula is debatable and isn't verified by any hard concrete evidence. It's highly based on anecdotal experience and individual reports. So far, the current implementation hasn't had anyone report any noteworthy deviations from it.

if you plant and water at 5am, at 6 you will need to water again for that day/hour (i am unsure if the 5am planting counts for one of the growth days though). but the 6am watering will count towards the growth day so you can do something else for that hour. if you miss the following 6am (hanging out in bahari or off doing irl things) as long as sometime during the hour you take care of the crops it will count (this probably doesn't make much sense, i'm not saying this right).

so, technically if you can water and tend to your garden in a 5 minute time frame, if you show up at 5am, water/weed, then wait until 6am to again water/weed you will be set for both of those hours (the previous one and the new one) (side note - this is why i use water retain crops, one and done)

So yes, the layout when looking at processed outcomes is bad on a per time basis. The layout does better the less you play. So if you work or sleep for most of the day, the processing time is negligible and has the highest ceiling. Bok Choy has a very big scaling problem for playtime…..kinda. SoonTM

your seedmakers will need emptying every 12 hours though in a perfect world without extra non-star seed drops clogging up the output

but at least they would need way less seedmakers to get to even higher gains than bok choy seeds would reach, so you might still get to processing some of that wheat and rice as well

So with the 55 slots for cotton in the layout, 20 seeders will process all of that in the 5 hours it takes to grow. So if you’re playing a lot you will be able to process it all constantly. But if you plan to do other things besides play Palia in your day, Bok choy will run all night until you check it in the morning to reset all and continue the money printer. Just depends on how much time you spend playing per day. Both are viable.

I think my no weeds, no watering, buffed apple trees are not ticking as they should be. I visited them every hour and it has been at least 12 hours since the last time I got apples and it should be every 6.

So I decided to test it. I removed all the weeds from the other plants (using the weeds on plants I won't harvest method) and I went to buy some no weed fertilizer to test out my theory at 8AM server time, after the last tick to make sure. When I got back at 10AM, my farm was full of weeds on all my apple trees. So are we getting more than 9 weeds but we aren't seeing them if you don't remove any? It would explain why none of my apple trees gave any fruit. Anyone else experience this?

I have a no water necessary layout and pull weeds every day after 6am in game before the next tick, and mine has recently been having a couple of plants that say they needed watering so idk what's happening with gardening.

My apple trees will absolutely not grow, and it's been nearly 2 weeks. There's no weeds on them, but there are 9 weeds on surrounding plants. In fact, all my crops reversed their growth stage. I watched my garden as it hit 6am; the apple trees grew saplings and used up some growth boost fertilizer, and my tomatoes became harvestable . When I logged back in the next morning, the saplings were gone, the tomatoes weren't harvestable, but the fertilizer was still used up.

I keep reading on now so many fail and I need one so I can have the 3 buffs I need (no weeds, harvest increase, no watering). Honestly, with all the bugs flying about currently, I end up rather selling my fertilizer instead of using it.. x) I used to be a big fan of harvest fertilizer though because its so easily aquirable (through the wormfarm as secondary fertilizer and the glow worm farm as main fertilizer), but right now I basically focus on weedblock through crop adjacency, and just try to weave enough rice/wheat/corn through it for the harvestboost..... I feel like currently crops adjacency works better than fertilizer

though thats also debatable for growthboost, because for me neither crop adjacency nor fertilizer is working for me in that case

I really need to take detailed notes on how many apples I get from each harvest. I am not sure the harvest boost from corn/rice is working either. I will harvest the corn/rice after the first apple harvest and see how many apples I get the following one. I was leaving the corn/rice crops at full growth so they would keep all 9 weeds but then the visible weeds bug happened. Could that have been because they were at full growth? Should I leave those crops unwatered at a particular stage so they can be my weed prevention? (I don't really need either for cooking, I have tons of food laid out on an empty plot}. And yes, I did read your post about crops and fertilizer. But with so many bugs flying around (lol), I wanted to verify how things stand.

I got a layout going with some crops on adjacency and some crops on fertilizer to try to keep up to date with testings but it's been quite stable for a while in terms of bugs, and I think I got a lot less bugs since I stopped using fertilizer tbh, and I too think it does really help to stay on top of your garden and harvest/replant everything immediately when things are done

but some bugs seem to have a mind of their own

the other day I put 8 days worth of fertilizer on an appletree only to see it disappear the next day

(I wanted to turn my layout one quarter lol but accidentally harvested things around it before the appletree was done too )

For apple trees, every 9 fertilizer equals only 1 day correct? Since it has 9 squares? Fertilizers confuse me because of the RNG and when it ticks (as if I have time to keep count of how many days my apple trees have). They should add that to the stuff you see when you press G, at what day stage is your crop.

as far as I know from my adventures with a non-bugged speedygro, it should be applied every day until its next harvest. So in theory, the last 3 harvest cycles of an appletree should take 4 days indeed (4x9 fertilizer is indeed 36)

but to have enough for their entire 20 days of growth (on growthboost), that should be a total of 180 speedygro per tree

the first harvest on growthboost should take 8 days, the other 3 harvests should take 4 days

without growthboost the first harvest takes 12 days, and the other 3 harvests should take 6 days (for a total of 30 days, would mean 270 speedygro)

its a costly endeavor for sure 😂

What? I was about to tell you to Request one, I have a few, but you haven't gotten one. I have noticed that Cooper Ore is harder to find since Steam release. Before you couldnt walk around Kilima without finding a ton of it.

Though the chances are supposed to be higher for large ore nodes, I found most of my star gems in the smaller one. Especially the star ruby. Not a baby palium but the regular small ones.

I find it easier to farm ore around the time the flow grove spawns. A lot of players are over in Bahari Bay.

It is also the best time to use an Ore Compass in Bahari Bay when mining for palium. I wish Ore Compasses were easier to craft. Rather ironic, you need to farm cooper for silver ore, to make a compass to farm another ore. They need to make a Palium Compass, that only shows where palium nodes are located.

@upper mist I tested them and so far no issues with apple trees growing. I have 3 crops at every stage of growth. So far I only have 5 knapweeds so I will wait until I get all 9 knapweeds to see if it gets affected after that.

no water meters were showing up because the trees were too big , i just did my 6 am routine and noticed there were no bars, but there were the sounds of the tree beeing watered and rhe sound of when it became full of water too

I have noticed once mine start to get to the larger stage, sometimes I need to space them out a bit more so they aren't touching in order to get the water meter to show back up. You may want to try that and see for the next watering cycle?

i suppose? i just wanna be able to grow more crops though, specific ingredient dishes are fine, ie i hardly grow chillis but i did grow some to when a friend can play try to complete the spicy food achievements and such.

There is a bug with this quest where you grow them to full size, get a seed and then it doesn't mark the quest complete. You won't know if you're affected until after you get the seeds.

Also try walking around the trees. They used to have a splash effect after fully watered but I haven't seen that in a while. My bars usually disappear the larger they get but I also use the sounds to let me know they are being watered and when I am done.

@upper mist It took a really long time to get all 9 knapweeds (just got the last one). But I got the correct number of apples and the carrots worked in keeping the weeds off the apple trees. So I will try to replicate the bug where I had tomatoes instead of carrots and see if the apples stop growing. Though first I will do it without any vegetable, since I already got all 9 knapweeds and see if that stops the apples from growing.
