What i learnt to do was when it was time to harvest, i picked only a single type of crop, so it would be easier to know their replanting positions
Granted i only needed to do it with messy/complex crop layouts, but it's helpful than having to keep the image on hand

If multiple crops are available, i would pick all of crop A, replant all of crop A, pick all of crop B, replant all of crop B, etc, etc
It's a fast and painless process

that's bizzare, for some reason my screenshot doesn't match the planner. The wheat between those three is supposed to be a potato. You can remove the wheat by grabbing the hoe and holding right click on the soil. Sorry about that

After a few days, my garden only grew when I was on plot at 6am. Friend also witnessed it grow backwards one day. It worked for a little while though.

I tried a lot of things to fix it, I didnt think it was the weed plot at first. I moved it around, I changed crops.

weeded the weed plot and everything went back to normal. Was big sad.

I have a ticket open but they want a lot of info I dont have, so Im hoping the person whose also trying out the weed plot can repeat the data

No idea. I didnt see it. I was afk on my plot when Kate saw it grow and reverse lol. It only happened the once. So. It worked for many harvests. Then it suddenly wouldnt grow at all, even if I was on plot. Thats when she saw it grow backwards. After that it grew, but only if I came home before 6am ticked.

I’ll log on and they will havehave grown “one” overnight, I’ll pick and plant and water and fertilize, and then they’ll grow again when 6am rolls over, so I do it all again, picking and planting etc etc. then I’ll leave to go do other stuff in the game and when I come back they will not have grown at all. I thought I was imagining it but if other people are also having that happen I’ll submit a ticket or something

I couldn't find a garden layout with a lot of apples and 100 water retain, weed block and a lil bit of harvest boost. So I wasted my last brain sell on this. (You can change corn to any other harvest boosters)

What I do is look at the growth cycle on the seed, then put that many days' worth of fertilizer on the crops. It saves time from having to fertilize the crops daily.

If it makes u feel better, it seems that the idea isn't any more efficient.
It seems like weed doesn't grow at all. I suspect that the way weeds grow is it selects random plots of your garden, and if it can grow weed, it will.
So my plots with weed blockers were chosen, and nothing grew at all, so in the end, it's no different from just praying weeds land on the sacrificial plot

I user rice and wheat with a higher rice yield as its profit/hr is better due to growing faster and processing in the same amount of time as wheat. I dont touch corn due to 5 day harvest + 48 min process to pickle

When you think in terms of how many harvests you can get in a 6 hour gaming session for example, or 2 days with 3 hour game time, youll get 2 rice harvests and 1 wheat, whereas with corn youll only get the 1 harvest. It really depends on you though.

Yes, when they have boost from other plants, they don't use that type of fertilizer at all. You can use different fertilizer if possible 🙂

The Idea is :
The bottom left side (green marked) is the "weed"plot - sacrificing 1 plot - to save the rest from "anti weed" plants.
The top right plot (orange marked) is meant for "whatever i need" flexible plot , may it be some cotton or whatever.
The rest plots is just making money -

-do you leave your tomatoes and potatoes in place even after they're grown so they'll keep giving their hydrate boost to the surrounding plants, or do you harvest them right away?

so yea - you have to water once u planted - its not like the buff is "watering" surrounding slots. but it stays wet for the whole lifecycle of the plant until u harvested and replanted - without that - every morning at 6:00 your slots get dry and need water

buffs for adjacent crops should still work (i left potatoes at least once for an extra day to resync crops and water retain still worked), but crops ready for harvest will not check any buffs. That means if you leave tomato in harvestable state for 1 extra day, it will lose water even if planted next to potato (only relevant for regrowing crops, since you need to water when replanting anyway). But anyway - buffs are only checked when day ticks, so replanting right after harvest maintains full buff upkeep

It's p good profit-wise and with the full water-retain! If you're looking for better AFK-ability though, you'd also be interested in increasing weed blockers to heavily reduce chances of desyncing your crops.

I think the way the game checks for where to place weeds is it picks a random plot THEN checks if a weed can spawn

when i applied weedblockers, weed rarely spawns in the areas where i didn't apply it

Technically no. Even when converting apples to jams and then jams to worms and fertilizers, it earns a decent amount, but it's not one of the highest profit margins

It is easy to maintain though

Personally i prefer the dirty rice layout. Easy to remember, ez to maintain, and very profitable

Hey, apple tree seeds can be bought from Badruu. You'll need to pay with medals which you get after level 10 of gardening skill.

None of those crops gives Water Retain, the Hydro Fertiizer does. So unless you want to be watering your plants all the time, use the hydro fertilizer. The carrots and onions give you weed prevention, the wheat and corn give you harvest boost.

fertilizer should not block picking farm plots, them being tilled will. You will need to wait 48h irl since last tilling for then to revert to untilled. Looks good 🙂 You put too much quality fertilizer around cotton on left side (red) and maybe those 2 cotton (blue) should have water retain fertilizer - it would let you leave garden for 3 days without watering, in theory because crops will be ready to harvest on different days, so you will have to replant them sometimes everyday anyway.

I always first make seeds, then the rest put into the jars. This way I have always around 30 seeds each kind, probably too much anyway. And always keep 50 of every vegetable, and fruits for 100 cakes (in case I want to bake) 😅

Whether or not you use fertilizer is up to you obviously. If you want to save money, you can manually water. Theyre of the faster growing crops and seeding them is profit.

Yeah you can ignore fert and just water. And you dont need to use fert when youre offline, gardens dont progress when youre offline except for one growth cycle.

If you water before you log off thats all it needs. It cant grow more either way.

Trying to plan out a new farm layout makes me feel crazy. Got all the bonuses (except faster growth) on the 5 big crops, and tried to maximize the bonuses on the smaller ones as much as possible...

Too bad, 'cause without the bushes and tree throwing off my pattern, I can get A LOT more efficient. Also if I stick to the 2x2 pattern. (If only there was another small crop that gave quality boost, I could get that one up to 88% also.)

Caffeine did find watering the weed plot helped. I don't have time to test my next theory, but I was curious if you let the crops on the weed plot fully grow, then let them fully weed, if that would fix the bug, as the crops technically wouldn't need watering at that point.

[G] Examine shows the buffs from each soil tiles. Weed prevention is one of the gardening buffs. You don't have to do anything about it though, weed prev means "that soil tile will not grow any weeds" (weeds will delay your crops growth).

There are like 5 different gardening buffs (? I don't really remember) and there are 2 methods of giving buffs: fertilizers and planting different crops beside the other crops. Same buff between fert and crops do not stack, but different buffs can be stacked. You can also stack same-buff-fertilizers in one soil tile, fertilizers will be consumed one per in-game day. Different crop buff will have effect as long the crop is planted (when you harvest a crop, the buffs given will be gone, but you can re-plant and the buff will take effect again). Same crops do not give buff each other, but you still can use other crops that have the same buff to buff each other

You can change between corn/wheat/rice how you like and instead of cotton you can put any other crop of the same size if you need

it's one extra day of growth every other day. So for 3 day crop it reduces it to 2 days. There are however some issues with it:

• 2-day progress for bonus growth day is not saved, relogging or switching maps will reset it to 0.
• When bonus growth triggers, other bonuses are not applied for the second time. E.g. potato with harvest boost from adjacent crop or fertilizer will end with 4 day grow time (down from 5 with one bonus day) and 4/5 chance to get harvest boost.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but tomatoes help keep other plants watered for one extra day even if they're harvested as long as they're still planted. Potatoes only last one harvest, so as soon as you harvest them, they stop giving the water retention buff.

and crops give their adjacency bonus from the moment they are planted. Also bonuses only matter when the day changes, so if you replant crop right after harvesting you can maintain constant bonus to adjacent crops

It is fine, except that 2 rice near each other (switch one of them with any wheat or corn). But I am thinking... if I understand well, you want to have everything but still don't have access to all seeds and need some more time to get full 3x3 layout, why not go with something like this for now? From tomatoes/potatoes you can make QualityUp fertilizer in worm farm.

And having weeds isn't bad option because you can sell them too, but of course you need to remove it every in-game day (so be at home at least around 4 am to remove from past day, and stay after 6 am to remove them for recent day, and replant of course).

Worm farm is one option, personally I put everything to jars or make seeds. If you don't want to use a lot of fertilizer or even at all, it will be much easier to have everything for cooking and natural boosts on bigger layout. But decision is yours 🙂

I can't say anything about worm farms, I have only 2 to produce worms and glow worms. And yes, you need some more time to make jars/seeds and both will give you around 20-30% money more than raw crops (some vegetables are profitable only when put to jars, not make seeds). You don't have to plant anything, it will disappear with time (I think about 2 real days), anyway the best choice if you still want to earn something meantime would be probably carrot/rice cause they both need only 3 hours/in-game days 🤔 But you will have to replant them often till that time will pass. If you plant something what needs more time, you will have to wait for harvest.

Sharing my actual layout. I don't need gold, don't care about efficiency anymore, I don't want to be bothered. I wanted mainly apples and squares for spices / berries for special foods.

Pros: lazy, relatively simple, full water, weed prevention, no need to fertilize, almost all crops (can be adjust carrot + onion vs cors + wheat + rice, BB vs Spices)
Cons: Not that efficient, zero quality

I'm harvesting once per 5 days when potatoes are ready so I don't have to care everyday. I hate watering and checking weed.

It was when I planned this but the same time one blueberry bush doesn't have speed growth boost, nothing is perfect but profit is almost 2 times better than with quality boost (which will be something natural with higher gardening lvl) 😉

With fertilizer you will get average for raw crops 1350 gold a day, which isn't bad for 4 soils I think. Of course if you put everything to jars, and use star quality seeds after some time you will have even around 2050 gold a day. But running full size 3x3 garden will be possible to have over 5000 gold a day. Like I said earlier, it's your decision. Start from that little one and check, maybe you will like gardening more with time and then will want to do something more with it. Maybe one day you decide that you want to have everything for cooking or maybe like @ornate valley want to use layout more for decoration than have actual 'huge' profit, or like @valid plank use up to 2-3 types of crops and combine great looking garden with good profit. When you scroll up this channel, you will find a lot of good and profitable layouts 🙂

Yes, but they interfere with growth, and I like everything to be perfect, growing at the same time. I would rather remove half of my garden than let it grow off schedule. I earn now by selling in town everything I gathered during my expeditions, but whole my production (crops, jars, seeds) stopped.

Hi everyone. I have a friend who got to level 6 in gardening but doesn't know a good layout even after playing with the garden planner online. I know plots for apples and bb but she doesn't have access to those things yet. She is level 6 in gardening, has all 9 soil plots, no apple or bb yet, has three seeders for her main crops: potatoes, onions, tomatoes. Does anyone have information on lower level gardening? Right now, she has spammed star potatoes with a few tomatoes and star onions in there. I want to give her solid advice or even a layout for lower level gardening. Is there any information out there? Any help is appreciated.

invest profits into expanding machine count, start processing potatoes into seeds. When you reach high enough machine count (can process all potatoes) swap potato/tomato.
in the end potato and rice go into seeds and tomato/corn into preserves

it has no fertilizer, so any fertilizer she gets, shes more than welcome to use for more gains

I moved my garden to a new area and immediately started having problems with it.
I have apple trees with two tomato and a potato on one edge and sometimes one or two of the apple trees will need watering despite having water retain. Anyone else had this?

Yep. IIRC, they last four harvests, then disappear. Same with apple trees and blueberry/pepper bushes.

if you get your friendship to level 3 with zeki or Nalio and do their lvl 3 quests you can get 2 apple seeds

if you're referring to SpeedyGro Fertilizer, either get your farming to level 10 and buy some from Badruu (maybe buy once and request the rest) or get your fishing to level 7 for the Glow Worm Farm blueprint. Sweet foods (sweet leaf, fruit, macarons, pies, cakes) in the Glow Worm Farm will produce SpeedyGro fertilizer.

Right now I'm running with this layout and cycling between rice and wheat. It gives me a pretty good balance at variety when cooking food while also providing good profit through jarring excess produce or selling excess rice/wheat. I don't mind weeding/watering, so it works for me.
