I would just go run around collecting all forageables (collecting them all allows more to spawn, possibly infected), chopping all infected trees, catching all infected bugs. No amount of essence is too small, it adds up eventually. And you end up with lots of resources to either use or sell or turn into muskin, etc. It didn't take me too long doing it this way.

Also just chopping trees in Mitana, and by the time you're done, usually they've respawned, often infected, and then you just keep chopping infected ones.

Most party hosts go by number of rounds though, so when you see "60x legendary sushi party" that's number of rounds. A 60x party would be 180 dishes total

Spice sprouts = around the barn and Mirror Fields area in Kilima, pretty much most of the left side of the map will have them

Dari cloves = epic spawn in bahari, spawns on the ground, but quite difficult to come by since it's epic rarity - usually people will call it out/flare it if they find one

Heat root = rare spawn in bahari, spawns on the side of cliffs

Sweet leaf = literally everywhere in Bahari

If you really need dari & heat root, you can use a dowsing rod to help you track them down. Sweet leaf and spice sprouts are more common so they won't be picked up by the dowsing rod.

If you want to try and spawn some, I think they use the same spawn points as the floatfish mushrooms, so you could try collecting those to free up spots

I think I found a new cooking bug (or an old one IDK) I was cooking at the stove but my pet was on the stove and it glitched the flip mechanism where it just spun & I couldn't flip at all or it would auto fail. I had to unstuck myself, dismiss the pet & return to the stove to finish the recipe.

I only use Fruit Smoothie bowl, you need 1 milk, 1 blueberry, 3 apples and 1 piksii berry. A starred one gives you 487 focus points, so 2 of them - 974, so you never eat too much. And the best part - you need to do just 2 cutting actions and one mixing - voila, 3 dishes in under a minute~

I'm thinking of hosting a cooking party after a long Palia break again. I'd choose a focus food party with Chili Oil Dumpling, bc I personally think that these are simple ingredients to get - 60 rounds only to get a total lf 180 dishes, which should be enough for the time being.
The question I have now is, what ingredients would you recommend to be starred - though it is not really required but starred dish gives you more xp than non-starred dishes.

this is a good rule of thumb to go by for any cooking party just so you know! starred crops are the priority and everything else can be unstarred and it gives you the best chances of getting mostly starred dishes starred foragables are too difficult to come by to always have them for cooking parties but they're appreciated if you use them

if youre open to cooking with others i very much recommend dedicating some time to a cooking party to stock up on focus food! and if you prefer to cook solo i personally recommend tomato soup or steak dinner if you dont mind being a bit under but since you seem to want a more full focus bar you can try out dishes like stuffed cabbage rolls, chili oil dumplings, or spicy stir fry!

Close enough to maxed out. We do ⭐️ veggie chilli, or ⭐️ cakes usually, because we tend to have lots of star crops and plenty of common spices like sweet leaf and spice sprouts and garlic. We avoid anything that asks for dari/heat root typically, since we like to save those for cooking parties

I usually always cook spicy stir fry and in the required produce it says corn however i always use carrot instead of corn and then the corn i have never goes down (i only have like 7 and have had that all day) so do i only need it to start like it doesnt actually take it if i choose something else to use?

if you're not cutting the corn and the corn is not required to start the recipe, no, it wouldn't go down.

It says required produce when i start but im not cutting it when im cooking so it may be a bug but also one i dont mind as it saves me having to grow corn. All the other ingrediants go down as i actually cut/cook them

the required ingredients to start the recipe are on the left of the recipe cue card; spicy stir fry takes any veggie, so you'll see any vegetable you have on hand be available to be chopped. since you choose carrot, corn is not used.

I had a question about the lunar xp from cooking if anyone is able to answer. I was making pumpkin stew with a friend, and I recieved 318 xp each time, while they only recieved 32. What would cause this? Both of us had full food bars, were in a party, and yet there is a massive difference in xp gained

Here's a little guide on the spawn spots that you can refer to. I like to teleport to coral shores, walk all the way south to beachcomber cove, teleport home from there and rinse and repeat. There's usually 4-8 per run you can collect

So I have been playing Palia for half a year. From what I can tell most of the Social structure comes down to helping people when they need it. There are Communities in the game but I would say Making friends here would be best. Though I am biased as I play Solo and only Play with Friends I met off Palia.

Fishing and Cooking parties would be best then. Fishing is more Passive because Every time someone near you Catches a fish they get a mulitplyer up to 5x so its very useful especially for new players who want to level up fast.

Okay so I'm confused and hope someone here can help, What is the actual way of cooking together with friends I have one person tell me as long as you have the ingredients in your storage then it will work, another says you have to have them on your person, and then another says you can use the ingredients from the person's storage whose plot you are on. Will someone please help straighten this out for me.

ingredients in your inventory are prioritized and then taken from your storage once those are used, or cooking will only take from your storage! cooking will never use another persons, unless they start the mini game and back out of it, and you start it after them on that same station.

I've looked up videos and AI on this, but I am still ruining steak dinners. It is the flipping of the pan that is causing me issues. I am using a controller currently (Xbox controller on Steam) and hitting A when the traveling dot moves inside the circle. But nothing gets flipped, and it goes back around, and I do this over and over, and if I back out of this, it ruins it, and if I keep doing this, it ruins it. I can do the other ingredients just fine. Does the little dot have to travel one complete circle first? So confused

No way I know of to get unstuck during cooking, besides restarting my game I don't know if the devs currently have plans to address that bug or not. it might be buried in patch notes somewhere but it's been like this for as long as I can remember.

You can try typing /unstuck (I think that was the command, at least) in chat, in your language. It might help.

Ran a fun little experiment tonight on a mostly-empty Bahari server.

I ran up and down the beach and picked all the shells and oysters, and left the coral alone.

Eventually, shells stopped appearing, leaving an abundance of coral — but oysters continued to spawn.

When I went back and collected all of the coral, there were 25 of them up at once. As soon as I started picking the coral, shells started to appear again.

My conclusion from this is that shells and coral share a spawn table, much like morels and sweet leaf. Meanwhile, oysters share spawn points with shells and coral, but they seem to spawn independently (that is, the number of oysters up at once was not reduced by the changing ratio of coral to shells).

In short: If you are trying to gather coral, be sure to pick up shells, and vice versa.

(Meanwhile, there is a maximum of 4 dragon's beard peat up at one time across the whole beach. Nothing you do changes that.)

(Also, I don't recommend doing what I did to try to gather more coral - it's much better to pick it when you see it, to allow that spawn to be rerolled instead of locking it in.)

I know about the "Dishes" tab on the wiki, but it doesn’t include the fair foods you can buy and display or the drinks ||from Reth’s bar|| Or the food items you can get from villagers, even though I know most special foods you get from villagers can’t be displayed.

any dishes (consumable) that you cook (excluding campfire foods) that are starred can be displayed, and any dishes bought from the maji markets that are starred can be displayed! as for any other dishes you receive or make, if they're unstarred they cannot be displayed the drinks from the underground are considered decor, instead of consumable and that is something to take note of as well! any other dishes that are bought like Reths lettuce soup is not able to be bought as star quality therefore it's not a dish that can be placed at this point in time

Overprep means you are an extra person. You're not needed for the recipe to be complete, but can participate to earn the final products.

You need focus food to eat during cooking parties so you can maximize you're leveling up.

Otherwise, cooking with an empty focus bar means you're not leveling up as efficiently

farming essence simply means to run around the elderwood collecting, chopping hunting, and fishing any essence you see! making sure to upgrade your relics as you go

I am looking at a plot idea where I'll have as the decor one of every starred item that can be displayed, including starred food. I know the 70 different makeable cooking recipes can all be starred and placeable, but what about the other food items/consumables in the game? Things like the "Reth's..." Available at the tavern or in the underground, or the items that can be bought at the Maji Market...can they be starred and place able too?

Yup, that's what I'm doing. I didn't used to have a problem with it. I've recently come back to this game and started cooking for the event dailies, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I did successfully make the chapaa asada tacos once.

Usually what happens is that the marker circles around to the target, I click, and the marker appears at its original location and circles around again. It doesn't count as a success or a failure, it just loops each time it reaches the target and I click.

If I click when it's not in the target it counts as a failure, so I'm not just failing to hit the target.

I've made a bunch of ruined food because I lose all my time on the flipping step.

You can absolutely mixed starred and unstarred ingredients. If you click "use starred ingredients box," it will allow you to use your starred onions AND your unstarred wheat in this specific recipe.

The 'use starred ingredients box' is more like a "prioritize starred ingredients," meaning if all you had is unstarred the wheat, the cooking UI will use that because it is all that is available for that wheat.

If you don't click the 'use starred ingredients' button, you're telling the UI to not look for starred ingredients at all, so if you don't have any regular, it shows as "0" of that starred ingredient, and won't be used in the recipe.

Hold down your button to begin the small circle moving around the big circle, and then release the button when the small circle is inside of the non-moving stationary circle -- there is no clicking involved, only releasing the button. If your flip action does not work by holding down and releasing, then a bug report is in order.

not sure if this is the right place to ask XS I notice that due to the high level of gardening, i have a lot of star quality ingredients... but when i try to cook it says i only have a tiny amount with the normal ones unless i use star. I recently introduced someone into the game and have been realizing i have far more limited supply of ingredients for foods i could make with them due to them not having the star quality due to being new. Is.. there some way around this? does normal start taking star if you're holding it and jsut doesn't say? or do i have to have non-star to use, and if so how do i best do that in reliable bulk without just buying lots of them? would i need to grow, sell the star and use that to buy non-star???

There's no way to use star quality items if the recipe was started with the "use star quality ingredients" box unchecked, but if you check that box and don't have the relevant item in star quality, it'll just use normal ones. Once you're high enough in your gardening level you'll only be able to get unstarred items by buying them, by getting them through your ranch if applicable, or by requesting them.

Yes, that checkbox is basically "allow star quality items to be used", and it'll use them when it can but allow normal ones when it can't.

Note that if your friend has a star item that they want to save, they'd need to put it into a lockbox or, if possible, place it on their plot.

If you're able to take a video capture showing key strokes, this would be a super big help to player support so they can verify you are holding down the button to start the small circle moving, and releasing when the small moving circle lands in the big static circle.

I would add to that fish stew, particularly with higher-value fish, IF you use all unstarred ingredients and aren't in the habit of buying the spice and garlic. Bought or starred ingredients pretty much destroy the solo profit of any recipe, with the possible exception of spicy honey-baked muujin, which just has a weird sell value...

I am pretty sure that fish stew might well be the only way of improving the value of heat root if you are a solo player

All the other heat root using recipes either require produce and/or use vinegar (yikes)

and it can't be processed in a worm farm, either, lol

The specific formula for kitchen-cooked dishes is:

value of 1 dish = [sum of UNSTARRED sell values of all ingredients] * 0.375 ```
but keep in mind that you get 3 dishes per recipe unless you miss one or more timed steps (it deducts 1 per missed timed stir/flip)

That's the unstarred (base) sell value. If the dish turns out starred, the sell value is the base sell value x 1.5
(so, the same +50% bonus as for everything in the game)

Note that this formula uses the unstarred sell value of the ingredients even if you use star quality items. If you use SQ items and the dish comes out unstarred, it's completely possible to lose money.

What's real funny is that I've seen 3 starred jellied cake layers go in and the cake is still unstarred XD so there is still always an unavoidable element of RNG. Cakes have a lot of unavoidably-unstarred ingredient weight in there, though

I always recommend smoothie bowls for focus food. It requires apples and blueberries, but those are plants you can harvest multiple times without replanting. Also piksii berries, but you prob have lots of those if you go to Elderwood. I think also milk, I get that from ranching.

But smoothie bowls use 1 blueberry, 1 milk, 3 apples, and 1 piksii berry per 3 dishes at 487 focus each if the dish turns out starred (which it generally does with all star quality apples + blueberries, but only about 50 percent of the time with non-starred)

So, assume star quality produce: 1,461 focus per set of ingredients

3 star apples as jam at 144g each = 432g
1 star blueberry as jam = 88g
1 milk in a glow worm farm = 40g
1 piksii berry in a glow worm farm = 40g
Total opportunity cost: 600g
Focus per opportunity cost: 2.4 (assuming starred results)

Focus from raw ingredients:
3 star apple jam @ 285 focus = 855 focus
1 star blueberry jam = 180 focus
Piksii berry = 5 focus lol
Milk = 15 focus
total non-cooking focus from ingredients: 1,055
Cooking improvement: 406 focus (+38%) assuming starred results
Non-cooked focus per opportunity cost: 1.6

Apple jam only: 285 focus per 144g = 2 focus per opportunity cost

So if you are already growing those ingredients*, NEVER plan to attend cake parties with your apples or milk, and already regularly pick up piksii berries all the time, smoothie bowls are about 40 percent better than eating jam.
* they do take up a lot of garden space you could be using for more profitable crops, and don't produce all that fast

That's damning them with faint praise, however: 2.4 focus per cost is bottom of the barrel in comparison with most other solo kitchen-cooked meals. (It is also worse than canned beans, which give 4.2 focus per cost.)

Steak Dinner and Meaty Stir Fry both clock in at around 3.5
7 to 4.9 focus per opportunity cost, and leave much more of your garden real estate free for cash crops instead of food.

Smoothie bowls' main selling point is that they are simple and fast to make by yourself, and they have a high star rate if you're using starred ingredients, so they are worthwhile to some who don't care about the money side (which is valid).

Yep! They work super well for some folks. :D They are the kitchen recipe with the highest focus per minigame step as well, by quite a large margin(487/3 = 162). So you pay in money and gardening space instead of in effort/time -- basically the polar opposite of veggie chili XD (cheap ingredients, many steps)

Another option is Meaty Stir Fry, since you can use ginger (or green onion) as the "any vegetable." If you do, the only produce in it is rice. You could even mix the two, and they'll stack as long as you use sernuk or muujin meat (and maybe also chapaa, due to rounding)

However, the carousel on the prep table is enormous for that recipe, so it's a little tedious to navigate.

On the upside, it requires no flipping, rolling, or baking -- just chopping and stirring, so it's easy to pivot around with two stoves and a prep table tucked around you :)

Burgers are extra challenging because of all the ingredients in them that cannot be starred (mainly the vinegar). It's not just the ingredient count - is also weighted by the sell values of the ingredients.

This is why sashimi with unstarred rice and spice sprouts (unstarred sell values 20-30g each iirc), but starred epic fish (unstarred sell value 1000g+) has a star rate north of 95% as long as you're not taking forever to finish it.

Unfortunately, we don't have the exact relationship of the different factors mapped out yet - no formula like we have for gardening

(My suspicion is that player cooking level and the "spoon level" (complexity/difficulty) of the dish may also factor in, but I don't have anything solid in those)

if you're still starting out i definitely recommend steak dinner at least until you're above 700 focus, and then you have the option to continue if you'd like or switch it up!
