Speaking of hard to find things:

I learned last night that HONEY doesn't despawn fully for 5 whole minutes after the hive is picked up by a player (not knocked down, but gathered so honey lands in your inventory). So it is TOTALLY worth it to flare them and call them out if you find some! Like Dari cloves or heartdrop lilies

At least in terms of other people being able to come get them as well

Now that you can get honey from ranching, it's less of a problem... maybe the star quality ones

I have no idea what you mean by "overwatch" (never heard of this), but spawns are not at all universal, and server hopping can do MANY useful things. It's a top strategy for hitting multiple Kilima Bloom events in the same in-game day (finish watering/gathering the one you landed on, then jump servers to friends and go pick the one there, too)

Hi friends, 👋🏻 wondering how many cooking stations one might need to begin hosting cooking parties. I have 3 of each station so far but can add more. I know it varies by recipe, just wondering what someone might reccomend to a first timer?

Generally you want a separate station for each party guest so everyone can do their part simultaneously. Most hosts have a host spot with enough stations to cover everything themselves in case of the party not having enough participants. These principles can be applied to any recipe :3

For example, I started with cake parties which require 11 mixing, 3 prep, and 3 ovens for guests. I’d have 2 prep (starting station) and 1 each of mixing and oven for yourself.

Keep in mind space for overprep if you’re going to allow it!

I would also suggest having a handful of extra stations for "oopsies" in case a guest starts the wrong ingredient and needs to bail for an empty ststion

Fish stew will vary with the Any Spice you use (I use heat root for it), but sashimi is easier for parties

(doesn't require people to do a bunch of chopping)
But the downside is that it then requires folks to have rice grown or buy it expensively, whereas fish stew only needs OP garlic, which can be purchased (relatively) cheaply

For me id say veggie chili as its easy to produce. Same with pumpkin pie. If neither another choice id go with is cabbage rolls (or even other pies). Not a lot of focus but very easy to mass produce or even making the preserve stuff.

Things like celebration cake, lucky braised fish, bean burger, and anything with over 1k focus gain is a waste in eating in my eyes as the excess focus is lost. Better off selling it and of course normally those with very high focus tend to take longer to make (and more expensive) but can sell for more.

If you're looking for cooking party options for profit that aren't cakes, though, that's another question entirely XD

It's super, super, SUPER common, especially on controller due to worse UI jump, hence the oopsie stations! Saves so much stress when people can just pop over and sort it instead of having to panickedly run around and try to find someone who's finished their role to borrow their station

I do love cabbage rolls. They're kind of broken (in our favor): always turn out the same sell price (so they always stack) even if you use a mix of meats and mushrooms, including crab and elder clam mushroom meat, if you want to use it up. Plus they have approximately a 99% star rate if you cook them in a reasonably efficient group. (No data on solo cooking star rates, though)

Yeah, for me i only use starred crops and most if not all i cook is starred due to the chances of my ingredience besides the mini games.

Im not sure if time affects the chance but with veggie chill time isnt an issue. So long as you can handle flipping 4 times. (Hardest cooking mini game e.e)

Eh, solo cooking XP is kind of all the same except for grilled foods with multiple campfires. XP scales with the number of minigame steps, and as a solo cook, you have to do all the steps one by one. So, more XP = more time spent.

And, yes, the per-recipe XP is low, but in terms of time, at 20 base XP (before focus bonus) every 5 seconds if you're rotating around 4-5 campfires, grilled foods are faster than everything else if you're solo. Just... also mind-numbing, not very useful (except for grilling your unstarred fish for a little extra gold).

Everything else except fish is better glow wormed or processed some other way.

In my opinion, the easiest and most cost-effective* focus food dishes for solo cooking are steak dinner and meaty stir fry

Steak dinner (225/337⭐) is better if you're less comfortable with chopping but more comfortable with flipping. It requires only wheat from the garden, leaving more of your gardening tiles free for cash crops. It also has very short menus, making it easy to navigate on controller.

Meaty stir fry (250/375⭐) avoids flipping and the oven, but requires more chopping. If you use ginger (only gatherable) as the "any vegetable," it only requires rice from the garden, so, same deal as above; otherwise, it can use tomatoes (fastest/cheapest). However, I don't necessarily recommend it on controller as the prep table carousel list is VERY long due to double variables (chopped meat and chopped veg).

Both recipes work well in pairs or very small groups, too - they don't need a whole big formal party to be cost- or time-effective if you split up the roles efficiently.

(As a bonus, meaty stir fry is also the best rare dish for ranch animal happiness bonuses XD )

*By "cost effective" I mean "highest ratio of focus to ingredient opportunity costs" without requiring rare or difficult-to-obtain ingredients

Did you know you can just hit every other one on the super fast ones? It doesn't mess it up unless you hit at the wrong time, but not if you miss. It's helped so much with those dang green onions! XD

* You do this by starting the minigame, backing out of the prep station (F on PC, the usual "cancel" button on controllers), then going back in (F on PC, standard Interact key on controller) - there's a rhythm to it, but it's not too hard to get the hang of

What is your focus bonus %?

Cakes give 340 base XP, but with 100% focus bonus they give 680 of course, unless you ran out of focus when collecting the cake and didn't get the full bonus XP amount.

560 is correct for 100% focus bonus for veggie chili, because the base XP amount is 280.

This was a x100 starred maws party. Host used x50 Spice Sprouts and then x50 Dari
Unstarred Maws sells for a alot anyway, but having starred paired with Dari shot up the price quite a bit

To answer your literal question: star quality forage only shows up in the wild about 10% as often as unstarred, so mostly we don't unless we save them up over time, lol

However, the spice sprouts and garlic from the Kilima Bloom event are always star quality, and so are the forageables from the ingredient bags from the hotpot prize wheel in the Underground. So, some people accumulate more of them that way.

If you want to save yours for a specific purpose, you can put them in safe storage (lockbox)

If you join a community, often it's 25 people or less, they all cook together and forage and such. There are some labeled 'beginner friendly' that once you join, will often set up small scale cooking parties so you can learn w no pressure

If you're getting a "you don't have permission" error, it's usually because you have something selected in your hotbars and the game thinks you are trying to place it.

If nobody can interact with any of the cooking stations, then there is probably a finished dish or ruined food sitting uncollected somewhere on the host's plots

They can be absolutely anywhere on the plot, 100+ yards from each other if you wanted to do that for some reason. Keep in mind that the range limit on Nearby chat is 50m, though, so if you spread them out too much, you will need to communicate with your attendees using server chat

There are advantages to having other cooks in your line of sight for certain roles, though, so you can see if there is a delay or if something went wrong.

Three of them are very, very, VERY rare random accessory drops from picking flowers and forage at the bloom events: bluetiful (blue), midnight (black), and sunny (yellow). The average number of blooms to get all of the nameplates is about 100 - so expect to attend about 200 (maybe more) to collect all 3 - and be sure you pick everything that spawns.

The rest of that set of flower nameplates were all from the midsummer bulletin board last patch, like @wise seal said, and might return either via the bulletin board next year or in some other fashion.

As @teal oyster mentioned, the Bloom also has other accessory drops like the 9 Greenhome flowerpot recipes. There is also a chance for a bloom to spawn a Prettypod bag!

Check PaliaParty.app and look for charged/boosted flow tree chops

Solo, it's a toss-up between "squirrel around and pick everything you see (with bonus dowsing rod to more easily find the rare stuff)" and "go in circles near the farm stand in Kilima and chop trees, then sell the wood, repeat"

The trees are technically faster... technically. But it's very tedious and doesn't have much other benefit, since going home to store/process the wood would nix any time advantage.

I actually need to do some math on infected trees, because those can always be looted, even if your bags are full

but ancient trees are sort of annoying to chop, especially the large ones, which have that tiny sliver of HP left for that very last chop lol

If you use palia party dot app, it will show you what you need to fill a role and it makes it easy to sign up for them!
The homepage shows parties happening within the hour, however if you search by recipe like so in the pictures you can find parties further in advance.
I would suggest looking for a cake party in advance to start, since there are roles you can take on that dont require you to bring anything at all.
For cake parties I added photos of the free roles, one is putting the batter in the oven and taking it out, the other is spreading the icing jelly.

I made a guide for someone a short scroll up on how to find good beginner cooking parties, they include some roles that don't require you to bring anything, but they go fast so I suggest scheduling them in advance searching the way shown in the photos above.

Once you've signed up send a friend request to the host, their in game name (IGN) should be listed in the description when you sign up.
You may need to resend the request an hour before start time

An hour to 45 minutes before the party, go into your friends list and find their name, there will be a sync to server button. Stay on your home plot so you dont lose your place in the server, otherwise you may not get in. There are only 30 people to a server at max.

They should give a time for when their plot is open for everyone to come over, go to the blue board to the right of the kilma entrance on your plot, find their name and head on over.

You're going to find a station appropriate for the role you signed up for, a photo of the station you need is listed when you sign up on the website.

Some people do role call before you begin, they'll go down the recipe needs and have everyone type a number to make sure everyone is there. Try not to chat during role call.

Once the party begins youre going to do your role only one time per recipe, this ensures everyone gets a share.

From there its just repetition! 🙂

Cooking parties are way easier than cooking alone since youre only doing one action!!

Someone more experienced than me can correct me on this but I believe its a mixture of whether the ingredients used were starred, and how fast the dish is cooked. You're more likely to get a starred dish if you cook with another person/people because then they can do a different task at the same time and you complete the dish faster

The known issue is with chopped apples (being part of both apple pies and smoothie) You can use it in cakes and petit fives though, if you can't use them in those either i would report the issue

And since they are aware, we can hope that they fix it in the next patch

for all parties i definitely recommend having the host section with one of each station so you can fill in for any roles that are having issues, and then have then base the other stations on the needs of the recipes! i know you wont need more than 4 ovens for those dishes :)

Usually over by the stream running from the Dragon temple area up to where the Maji Market takes place. Sometimes they all spawn high and over on the Bahari side, sometimes they are all low and by the water... it depends.

ok so the thing is the primary purpose of lockbox is 2 fold
making sure u dont use up ur precious valuebles dont wanan grill that maws for example

nr2 putting ingredients in there so u cannot use em during cooking partys if ur role is something else
so keep alot of space in there for that purpose if u cook certain things

the difference it makes
unstarred rice higher chance of unstarred cooked rice > higher chance of unstarred dish
final dish assembly uses first rice that is cooked so if u never finish cooking ur rice first anyways u can bring unstarred rice without any difference

there's and rng factor that does contribue, but making the dish quicker will help increase your chances as well as the starred crops :) i can also help you make it if you'd like!
