I'm TRYING to do the Your Order Is Served quest. It doesn't show as the ingredients need to be starred ones, in fact it wouldn't let me use a starred tomato. I've made two of the dishes and it's not showing them as complete. I just don't get why they have to make SOME things so difficult.

It's worth mentioning you dont need starred ingredients to make a starred dish, it just makes it more likely. I believe the speed of making the dish is also a factor, so you can try either asking in game or here for some cooking buddies

Okay cooking recipes is really starting to get exasperating. I've wasted so many ingredients and I don't know if I keep getting glitched or what but no matter how fast I go or how perfectly I prep, I fail the recipe. Is there a more in depth explanation somewhere? For reference, I have failed both the steak dinner (glitched out on the "flip" step) and the loaded potato soup. It didn't give me enough time to put all of the ingredients in before they were even done.

I'm also playing on PC but using an Xbox controller, so maybe I'm not using the correct commands?

you don't need to prep all items first BTW. you can chop a thing, go to flip, back to chop, etc

protip for steak dinner: once you get used to it, you can roll dough first, pop it in oven, and chop or flip while the bread is baking

multitasking while something is baking really helps boost your time to completion increasing your chance of starred dishes

the sushi recipe isonly found in ponds and there is about a 2% chance of getting it. don't fish in hotspots. and if you want to save glow worms, don't fish what you don't need. just let it pass and reel again. you'll know it's a recipe if the thing attached is a bottle with paper inside and it doesn't move around (like fish)

When cooking there are only 2 modes for ingredients, regular and star. Can you not mix and match quality?

When cooking star quality, you can use regular if you don’t have any star. But you can’t do the opposite, I believe

Adding to that, if you have starred version of that ingredient, you can’t choose to use the unstarred. Unless you put the starred ones in a lockbox to force the system to use unstarred

I have a general question, is it not common to wait for people with chopping down the grove? Or is there even a rule or so? Because normally people waited but in the last 3 hours at every grove I had, were at least 2 people who chopped down at least 3 or more trees before even the majority of players who wrote "omw" arrived.

Sometimes new players don’t realize it’s common for ppl to wait. I did that by accident with a friend on vc w a grove. We cut them down and someone just showed up and watched like we committed a crime. I felt so bad when they told me ppl usually wait and call it out in chat

Okay so I'm not just imaging things.

I don't think they were new players. The one where I even wrote in chat that we should wait the 2 who chopped down the grove had full palium tools. Axe, pickaxe bow etc. But I can't be 100% sure. I just wanted to ask if that was a common thing or not because it happened 3 times in a row today. With people even being unfriendly when someone asked to wait for others. I got so far I just logged off for today because it got to much for me :/

Simply wait for people that said "omw" to arrive, ask if anyone else is on the way, and then chop. It’s really not difficult to do if you can read.

but again, some people can't play for long periods of time, so that server while they are waiting may have been the only time they could have tried to get flow wood for that day. you can hit the trees, and run off to do other things if you are in a hurry, just go back when you see people saying that they are ready to chop. it doesn't hurt to wait

that i can kind of agree on, if i show up at 2am in bahari i don't bother with the grove unless it's right there, but i don't expect people to wait for me, i also think that when you have close to 9 or more people it would be fine to chop as well as long as the ones that have said omw are there and have their hits in, but to cut the grove that was found at 12am and at 12:15 another message pops up saying grove chopped, especially if calls were made that people were coming, doesn't sit well with me

like i said, a lot of people have lives outside of the game (work, friends, family), some of the younger players may have strict rules about how long they can be online playing video games. so, when others take the grove too early, it makes those players feel unwelcomed in a game that is suppose to be welcoming to all.

Communicate in chat, agree on a time, act quickly and efficiently.

I’ve cut a grove by 2am today and everyone could make it there on time, because we communicated.

when the grove sounds at midnight, people will run about looking for it. when you spot one, to a lot of people, the "proper" etiquette would be for the person who found it to get their hits in (one hit on each of the trees which will still grant you the loot at the chop of the tree) and then call out where the grove is located and then wait for when the people who call on the way arrive. then call for anyone else then see when people want to chop the grove down (a lot of the servers i've been on are usually around 2:30-3am, could be sooner if people get to it sooner). but some people will group up to take the grove as soon as they find it, which is why people get frustrated when they don't have time to get to the grove

i usually like the 2:30-3 chop times and think going past that (unless the server is still looking for the grove at 2 which has happened), but i also think that if you have 9+people waiting at the grove going earlier as long as those who said were on the way are there is perfectly fine as well. i've been on servers where there were only 5 people on the server and we all arrived at 12:45 and just chopped the grove

No, it's actually the other way around. If You DON'T click use starred, then starred ingredients can't be used at all. (And experienced gardeners can't get unstarred crops.) But if you click to use starred then both types can be used.

I have never been on an Empty server. I have been on a a couple of very quiet ones. One night I spent several hours in Bahari running around: mining, foraging, bug hunting. Then I realized the chat had been extremely quiet. There were six people including myself on the server. I think the only message I saw was about the grove

A PSA for COOKING
If you find your character unable to move and most input not working once you begin to cook, this is workaround is helping me right now

• If you are able to open the chat, type "/unstuck" and you should be able to move again afterward
• If you are able to open up the games main menu, an "unstuck" command has been added there as well

you get seeds on home plot via watering until they can't be watered any more or if you chop a non-flow tree there's a CHANCE it will drop a seed that is the same chance as usual with trees everywhere else

at least, when it comes to just the raw output

of course if you fish with every glow worm you get, then it's more profitable since fishing is profitable

"The two largest sizes of flow trees (large and extra-large) always require two people, I believe. You can solo the tiny and small ones with a fine axe, I think, and possibly the medium ones by yourself if you have the exquisite axe. (I haven't had any luck solo-chopping the medium-and-up ones, myself, but apparently there's a trick to making it skip the swing animation that I haven't really gotten the hang of yet.)

Either way, it's not impossible to get flow wood solo. The best way is probably just to pick a chunk of the map and run around chopping down whatever size(s) of tree that you can solo-chop if one respawns as a flow tree. Trees respawn every few minutes, so pick a small enough area that you can see all of the trees as they respawn, but large enough that you aren't idling around at the start of the loop. (You can do this in Kilima, too!)

For palium, you can mine all sizes of nodes by yourself with a fine pickaxe; the exquisite one just does more damage per hit, so it goes a little faster. IIRC you cannot mine palium at all with a standard pickaxe, even if someone else tries to help you; if you don't get at least one tap in on a node, you will get no loot. "

it's a limited time event with a separate location - a market - that so far seems to be happening 2 times a year. last one was for lunar new year. there's some games there, you can get things like recipes, furniture, food and such limited to that specific market. some things are available in the game after (like soy sauce), some are going to repeat between markets (at least that's what they said before)

i started playing when the lunar new year market was happening and I really liked mini games there

the Maji Market is a month long in game event that happens twice a year (so far)! The first one was the summer maji market and took place from the end of august through september, and the luna new took place from the end of january through february. at these markets there are quests, new dialogue, mini games, furniture, recipes, food and fireworks available to buy, most of it being limited to the markets! the markets have some shared items such as the maji dragon and chapaa head plushies as well, while other items are exclusive to their respective market.

if the grove is on the average-larger side i wanna say you can get around 10-20 ish planks a night ? so making sure you pay attention to the time and being in bahari by midnight to make sure you don't miss the grove !

If you got some friends and you dont wanna wait for grove you can chop trees so the flow tree spawn.
You can do it solo as well but takes more time tho
It around 7% to spawn. I would reccomend going thorny ticket for a purge

I haven't tried that, but generally when you have a checkbox of "things" you need for a quest, they typically don't care how you got it. You can often request it and someone will gift it to you.

The best is just to chop all trees either thorny ticket or near Badruu farm. Just chop large trees as they give the most exp. It is the best way to farm level with this as there are plenty of trees around
