This is kind of a cross question between cooking and housing. Forgive my rambling, I jusy love that Star grade foods can be placed. 😅

I wasn't playing when Maji Market was going on. Food you make yourself can come out Star grade, and some items that are given to you as rewards are as well. When I looked at the list of consumables I noticed a lot of the items you can't make yourself mention base and star quality value. You can get star grade Delaila's Peach Cake from a quest, but what about the other market event items? I'm curious, do they exist in Star quality too?

What about star grade preseve items such as jams or pickled produce?
Or items from the fire pit?
Fisherman's Brew?

Most pages for the cookable items show a picture of it in the housing plot, but not the congee, mushroom quiche, or ruined food (how do you even ruin food and get it star grade lol) are these items not placeable?

maji market foods are completely RNG based on whether they're star quality or not! but they all have a chance at being star quality

starred preserves, pickled veggies, and fisherman's brew is currently not placeable if star quality! but this can change in the future

star quality food is rng based with things that influence the likeliness of it being star quality! so if you ruin a recipe you still have the chance of it being star quality since it's rng based! i'm not sure about the other two recipes tho

I heard that the dari cloves were hard to find and only had two spawns each day cycle and disappeared five minutes after being first picked. That's a epic rarity though, I don't know about the others

I read your post again. Petite fives are made at the prep station, mujiin bahari and oysters akwinduu are at the oven. They should be automatically available at those stations when the quest starts, are they not there when you look at all recipes at those stations?

cooking together involves at least one other person and you can cook any recipe together. you must be friends with the person to visit each other's plot and the person who starts the recipe needs to have the starting ingredients and then the other person must do at least 1 task for it to count as cooking together whether that is stirring, chopping, mixing, etc they must do at least one task

for missions/quests it does not matter how the dish is made, you just need to have the dish itself! you can do cooking together for reth's quest! the rest of the ingredients can be provided by both people cooking! you do not need to bring ingredients with you, and you do not need to have them in your inventory when cooking!

if you start the recipe and then get stuck at the station, try hitting the button that takes you to the overhead of your plot (not sure if you are on switch but press down on the left controller) then get out of that, seems to work for me at least

Its always been north of the wall I found it. once in ff, several on flooded steps, and TT. from what I read can go as far east as the stat garden

use the dowsing rod (level 8 foraging) if you have it. it only shows where the rare forage items are, so dari cloves, heartdrop lilies, and brightshrooms. i think it will even show you where flow trees are as well

best for flow trees is the groves that spawn in bahari at 12am game time. most people are good about calling out and waiting for people to chop the trees down. a grove usually has somewhere between 2-9 or more trees depending on where it spawns. palium is mining

make sure not to try and start chopping as soon as you arrive to the grove tho! if you hit the tree once and stop you will get the drops from it still! it just gives people more time to arrive and lets more people to get the trees!

definitely recommend being in Bahari before midnight and watching the chat for grove announcements. Then tell the chat you’re on your way and most of the time people will wait for you 🙂

Pal is announced in server chats often, too.

Anyone feel like the grove is getting stolen more and more or is it just me? When I first started playing in the fall, people were so patient and would wait however long until everyone got there. I've been encountering so many rude people who basically just say to me, get over it... It's a game, when I ask why they couldn't wait. My friends and I are all experiencing this. To the point where I don't even want to seek out the grove anymore because people are being so rude. This was such a relaxing and cozy game when I started, and now I feel more competition to forage for resources because people can't share.

My friends and I just noticed it happening more and more lately. A lot of people count on the grove for a source of flow. Running around the whole of map is timing consuming and I’m a Mom so I can’t play for hours on end. I usually just block people and move on when they don’t play fair.

So grove is a good way for those of us with limited time to still get the flow we need. I still encounter lots of friendly people, but just noticed since the switch launch the vibes have changed, but I do love having more of my friends to play with. I’m not calling people toxic for not sharing resources in a game. I’m calling their responses when being told what the culture is toxic. I’ve been playing since August and when I first joined people had no problem waiting, and stealing grove was unheard of. Happy gaming, I won’t be replying further.

I know this might sound silly for a game that's not so demanding but is there like a min-max guide of sorts for cooking and focus? Like which dishes are the fastest to make while also having the best amount of focus gain for the time spent? Or are they all kinda similar? I dont think that it's only the switch players fault, but have anyone here ever thought about if it might just be because new players (no matter if there pc or switch players) might not know the etiquette to farming flow trees and groves instead of just selecting switch players because they have a hard time chatting on the switch and therefore blaming them?
I'm a disabled gamer and I use the switch mainly because I can play better on the switch than I could on the pc and I'm getting really frustrated with people who just blame us switch players instead of thinking that there might be some switch players out there who might be offended by this.

Yeah I also do something similar since I'm also on the EU server. I mostly just call out flow trees or groves when they appear near me and if someone else finds them I write omw in the chat and when I get there I send flare up if someone hasn't already done it to make sure that as many people have a chance to get to the groves. So I can't really see why some people think that it's like only a problem that is caused by switch. I have basically had other people who I couldn't identify as either switch or pc players since we don't run around with a big sign on our heads saying I'm a switch players having chopped down the tree or groves that I was just about to call out and before I could even get to say wait for others they would be like gone already.

Okay. I had been playing before the switch update and since I started playing palia on the switch i have noticed that it is a problem with the groves. But I think that there is more to it than just being switch players. I think it's because the game got more popular and more players got into the game and many of those players probably don't know about the etiquette of flow groves and don't do it on purpose. At least that is what I have experienced a lot since i have met a lot of new players recently that said that they didn't know about the etiquette for farming flow groves.

Cooking seems extra borked (not sure if this is new as I just got some new recipes today). It says I dno't have any potatoes, but I do, both starred and unstarred. Alos the recipe says "ready to make" on it. I even moved them from storage to hotbar and it still said I didn't have any potatoes. Then I started a recipe for tacos and did my prep and it would only let me put one of the prepped ingredients in, it just kept showing the left click to put in image and no amount of clicking worked. So that got ruined. 😩

If you're on switch go to the workbench and change it to 1, if it's already at 1 just craft a single item. It's a bug with multi crafting on the switch but you can't multi cook

Don't run when hunting. You spooked them before you have a chance to aim and shoot. Just walk and be happy the game does not take wind direction and your smell in hunting parameters... The only time you may have to run is when you are after that magic sernuk in Bahari. Keep an eye where he teleports. Then walk to it and use dispell arrows. Also I often climb up hills to have a better sight of sernuks. If you have the right bow you can shoot them from very far. If more than one, always shoot the one most in the back first, so you don't spook the one closer to you. Happy hunting. 🙂

yes, part of learning to hunt is learning to walk softly and shoot before runners show up

switch cooking bugs can be fixed doing the following things: ONLY cook when you load fresh into the game. Sell any precooked food in your inventory ESPECIALLY if it has weird prices, this includes food left around as decoration.

lock all star foragables into your lockbox. the switch has issues using your last 5 star ingredients. sometimes you can dodge this by carrying them on your person if you want to use them

that can count for meat as well

It also helps to make sure you can not physically select any other stations by spacing them a little. sometimes being able to use "A" to interact with another object can prevent using the cooking menu, this is also related to the overflow inventory issue.

the more you play and the more you do, the more likely you will be unable to cook when you get back to your place. I suspect it has to do with cooperation multipliers from fishing, mining, bug catching and foraging, as sometimes when only one recipe works it is very broken and either uses a lot of ingredients and returns a lot of meals or gives you 1 meal equal to the value of the ingredients. IF you get any food under those conditions eat or sell it as it will keep your kitchen bugged.

ahhh im not alone, that makes me a feel a bit better but also making me wonder if its a glitch of some sorts? the patch says we can get it but after spending so many tickets. Im starting to have a lot of doubts

Yup, reading the patch notes it really makes it seem that all market foods will be available as starred so you can display them..

I have all foods starred except for the Taiyaki :/

i didnt look at it till now since i only cook limited stuff for only a few skills

but you clearly lose alot of gold from cooking if i were to sell it lol

I’ve only been playing since Dec and cooking has always sucked. Partially broken too. So I stick to making simple soups for focus. I farm and preserve for money income

y i do the same still not sure if i should just use jams or bake pies since i make all the needed crops

gonna need to do some math on it and see witch one saves me more gold per focus

I do jams because they can’t be messed up and take less effort from me. More time to do other things in the game, but generally, I don’t like cooking in this game
