It spawns 20 random bugs chosen from the list of bugs that can show up in the area where you place it. The bugs are replaced by more when the existing ones spook and run or are caught

The lure then lasts for 3 minutes. The bugs spawned by the lure last for 3 minutes also (so they can outlast the lure, and even their normal spawn window, if they spawn at the end of the lure)

i really dont get why ppl complain so much about hunting being fixed, is it really fun for you guys to just have animals be a stationary target where u can shoot with whatever arrows u want with as many misses u want and still get the loot ? hunting should as it is right now involve atleast some basic skill , that also feels more rewarding at the end of the day + it makes atleast some arrows have actually some use now like slowdown or dispel which u never ever needed before

I personally use dispel arrows for all of the magic animals, dispel stops the chapaa from splitting, stop the sernuk from jumping and stops the wolf going invisible, a no brainer for me ><

this insane tracking is only ever useful when u shoot over something because the arrow will then home down to the animal and always hit but when it homes to left and right its insanity and not helpful

i hate that consoles always have to get build in auto aim , let us just be able to turn off but increase our possibility for faster sensitivity during aiming

Some people have been equating hunting to bug hunting saying well bugs get startled, so should other things that are hunted. There is a smoke candle that minimizes that for bugs so what about a camouflage potion from Tamala's shop? Limited time masking allowing the player to go undetected while hunting. Wears off after a while like the smoke candle does. Similar in principle and function., and keeps within the mechanics and spirit of the game.

bullet drop is the fall of a bullet as its shot normally its start falling more and more hte further away as it accelerates downward due to gravity and decelerates due to air friction but ion palia its abit weird like asmokebomb makes a perfect arch whiela arrow goes veyr little bulletdrop for a long time then suddenly drops very fast

Oh DROP, gotcha friend. Thaat makes more sense. I enjoyed shooting long range and having to calculate the best arc and position to hit the target. I would offer that camouflage would mask the player at any range for a limited time. Also, it would be something new (and useful) for the player to spend essence on.

Just wanted to say this isn’t true, all bugs appear for lures except bugs that spawn on trees or when trees are chopped. 🙂 the raspberry beetle is just super rare so you can use many lures and never see one. It’s best to hunt for it right at 3 AM in game when it spawns 🙂

I wanted to ask, time/effort wise hunting ogopuus is not worth it while hunting alone, is it? Their skin costs same as hide, but you need 4 fine arrows to kill regular ogopuu when regular sernuk needs 1 arrow only. Their meat also costs same as sernuk meat. Am I overlooking something?

Hello Palians! I have a genuine question about exploits since I am seeing Palians using that as a reason as to why ranged hunting was patched from the game. Building techniques such as floating objects, ghosting, merging, flicking, using gourmet cups to stack things such as pavers to be used as stairs, making bug arches by using shelves and bowls to rotate objects so they can be placed in a way that is not in keeping with "normal" building mechanics, and placing objects off lot - aren't these all exploits? Don't these things give players an unfair advantage on home tours to receive more votes and in turn giving them higher tier nameplates? Don't these things set unreal expectations for new players as to what can be achieved in game by using regular, unexploited game mechanics? Why are some "exploits" being removed while others are being used to promote the game in official media?

Hiya, this is my own personal opinion but I'm a bit of a housing enthusiast myself throughout many games. In nearly every game I've played with at least a decently big housing decorating community, there is ALWAYS exploits uses to get furniture in places it normally can't get into. It's not something unheard of between all games and the same can usually be said with how devs tend to handle the situation. Dont talk about it publically and its not there/dont worry about it. As long as it's not something that genuinely breaks the game or hurts other players devs generally turn a blind eye. Again this is just my own experience and opinion after interacting with many different housing communities. In general I feel like this question mightve been better asked in the housing decor chat as more people with the knowledge or better answers could possibly help with your question.

To be fair I didn't really know much about that exploit in particular but I still wanted to at least share my experiences with other games 😅 and youre welcome! Housing is usually left open and broad to encourage creativity but with other parts of games that have mechanics that are supposed to work in a specific and intended way i think that's when an exploit will particularly get cracked down on, i suppose such as frog parties as that recently got patched (and i only just discovered them a day before it did 😭)

At least on pc you can generally aim more easily than on console thanks to the mouse, aiming on switch is hard. I tried messing around with sensitivity to help but I can't make it as fast as I'd need it otherwise it makes me motion sick, and I don't usually get motion sick from games so that was unexpected 😅

honestly it's driving me insane, all I ever find is common bark cicada and spitfire, but I've now found 192 cerulean cicadas without a single one being starred, like how is it that a person can be that unlucky, literally that and the fairy mantis are the only two starred bugs I need, I've had 25 rtbs (not from lfgs, just natural spawns) before I have found an uncommon?!

I just got my spitfire about an hour ago after catching a good 50 or so. Just keep at it. Make sure to use buzzy jars if you arent.

i didnt use any buzzy jar for any of my bugs so far , but when it comes specificially for bugs im pretty sure i have around 60 to 70 % of all ingame bugs with and without star , its only few specific ones i either havent got with a star or never ever encountered them.

Looks like they can show up basically anywhere in the east side of the map, and less commonly in the caves. I see them quite frequently in Deep Woods, as Jeht said (including up on the shelf mushrooms on the sides of the tall trees.) They're common bugs, so they're not too hard to find.

Is there a trick to finding a star quality fairy mantis or is it pure RNG? I have decent luck with regular quality fairy mantis but the star quality has been eluding me for months.

And a fairy mantis is rare to begin with

There is a specific spot in bahari bay that i like going ever since elderwoods came out idk if its gonna make less or more gold then hunting in the elderwoods however, on the map it is f8 starting thru j9 there are a ton of sernuk around a lake and on the path to windy ruins, i swap servers if they arent there or if i hunt them all if a friend is on bahari bay thats how i swap servers i just join their server and go back and forth if possible 😛

Go home, drop everything off and rinse and repeat 🙂

While you are in bahari, add a bunch of people on the server, at least some will add you back, then you can server swap!

If some are gone while you are hunting they tend to run into a corner the corner is highlighted

In the beginning I wasn't getting any plushies there then I switched spots to the red blossom cave and got a plushie drop on second shmole and after that I kept getting plushie drops.

If you have the bag of illusion 4 you don’t need the EW arrows anymore for the infected. I read somewhere else on here that apparently dispel is not ideal because it stops the ogos from doing their spitting animation so they get away/despawn faster

I have been hunting the RTB for 4 real days now. Obviously with sleep on between days but still. Been through many cycles and I have seen 2 regular ones and not a starred one yet. Well they spawn in the fields of south Bahari from 3am-6pm. I prefer to wait around in Pulsewater Plains near where Najuma waits by the lake. Also using Buzzy Jars can help point out any rare and epic bugs nearby. And lots of patience as they are an epic bug. They're like how difficult it is to fish up a Long Nosed Unicorn Fish.

In addition to what Kitsuus shared, RTBs also have approximately a 10 percent chance of being the rare thing that appears with the flow grove. That what I did when hunting a starred one - tried to be first to the grove. This is easier than usual right now with large numbers of players spending their time in Elderwood. (Grove spawns also don't despawn - they will stay until caught or spooked.)

so, i'm testing the hunting on the switch 2 right now. just tested chopping down a tree in bahari for muujin. for me, they didn't disappear after the tree went away, they stayed fairly close by and i was able to get two regular ones down before they jumped into a tree. bluebristles still evade me. i am however also trying to keep my s2 fairly clean (don't want to strip the matte finishing off of it like my og switch) so i'm still waiting a casing to do so, so i'm having a hard time aiming, but that also could be i had larger joycons as well

Generally the star quality rate is about 10% of all spawns/drops across the board (except fish, of course)

For bahari glow bugs pulsewater plains or above pavel mines 6pm-3am; for cicada better to use buzzy jar from 3 am in South Bahari (they sometimes spawn in flooded fortress too; if during morning/day buzzy jar shows a bug in ff, it’s spitfire cicada).

More depends on what you are hunting. But overall fine, elderwood and dispel arrows deal the highest damage (someone correct me if I’m wrong on this). Use 1 slowdown arrow and follow it up with fine if the creatures you’re hunting keep getting away. Use dispel arrows for proudhorned sernuk, azure chapaa, bluebristle muujin.

whats a good place to use honey lures in elderwood?

RTB plushie hunts often use lures and catch the blue butterflies, does anyone know the reason for this?
I can think of 2 possible reasons (both might be wrong though) - either because butterflies tend to stick around for ages blocking potential spawns of other bugs, or that catching one type of bug encourages more of that type (and variants) to spawn...anyone know if either of these are true?
Just wondering how to adapt the strategy to other bugs I need to try and find

not sure about lures but on normal spawn u got butterfly spawns which give blue butterflys with a small chance of the rtb butterfly and blues never get spooked

think with lures hteres alwso a cap but not sure if they got spot sharing like with blues and rtbs outside of it but u gotto celar em anyways or ur lure will get clogged at least

i always believed that, similar to animal crossing, that there could only be a certain amount of bugs spawn numbers at a time, so you would have to catch other bugs to open spawn points up

Yeah max spawn count for a lure is 20, so you can end up with Oops All Butterflies if you don't clear them (though Oops All Crickets is also possible with smoke candles + sneaky bombs, lol)

Everything else will clear itself out if you spook them, so it makes sense to concentrate your time and attention on the bugs that don't

as far i read slowdown arrows got only nerfed in the slowdown effect but not damage , so these are still copper arrows which deal 15 damage instead of 20 , but if its true that a T1 sernuk cant be killed with them anymore they might have messed something up and slowdown arrows now maybe deal 10 damage which would be equivalent to makeshift arrows because a t1 sernuk has 15 hp

yeah i think with the introduction of new enemies lile shmoles and ogo (especially ogos who have high HP) we should get atleast palium based arrows which deal at very least 25 damage if not 30. it would be overall more variety and fun + it would help those players who complain that hunting is to difficult or something. i personally enjoy hinting as it is right now but i find it boring to basicially only have iron damage based arrows

if palium arrows would deal 25 damage we could kill t3 ogos in 6 hits because i assume they habe 150 hp

Still need a star for both, but even with lures, struggling to see either (over 6-7 lures during the day, only seen 3 Duskwings and 5 Spotted Mantis, though part of that could be I have Buzzy Jar on to help spotting the Mantis but it doesn't show Duskwings)

lurewise its surpsingly the same but duskwing shares spawn wiht hte uber common unspoocable bluebutterfly and spottedmantis with 24/7 spookable cricket so u see why mantis is more common

on console u can swap arrows pretty quick just by pressing basicially only 3 buttons pretty fast but even then id never bother with it because u only need damage arrows once u know how animals behave

Check the accomplishments and do the 3 tasks related to hunting at the top (weekly tasks). Leveling up also gets you credits.

A popular tactic is using a Buzzy jar just around 3am and running around grabbing/scaring all the rares that appear, which appears to be what Satori did
