Relax your muscles, should help with your wrists shaking, besides making sure to havr a good posture and warm hands. Other than that, slowdown arrows will help slow down creatures. Also lots of practice

That was the hardest for me. I used 3 buzzy jars over 2 days of searching and finally it found one.Go a little earlier than 3am so you're ready when it spawns inworld and doesn't get spooked by other players.

I'm on switch and aiming is a nightmare so I've found spamming 2-3 arrows/bombs at once often (well more like Sometimes)takes things out. it's the only way I've found to get the BB critters (the magical ones... might have to install PC version somewhere if they don't enable motion controller targeting for Switch like in Zelda)

I also tweaked the aim setting up to 1 but panning around is just too imprecise and doesn't remotely fit the Cozy vibe.

the best, and only, spots to hunt muujin by yourself are the cliffs in thorny thicket or the cliffs across the river from statue garden, and when i say cliffs i mean the areas that are completely elevated from the surrounding areas (there's a few such places). Cut all the trees in this area first, this sends the muujins into a kind of glitch where they will be running all over looking for a place to get into a tree. I've hunted 3 magic muujins solo that way

To add to what others said, buzzy jars are great for finding azure stonehoppers and other rare / epic bugs. If you use a buzzy jar at Pulsewater or Hideaway at 3:00 AM you will find the greatest density of rare bugs. The other nice thing about doing this is you get plenty of silk to make even more buzzy jars. You can sell the rare bugs to get gold to buy light bulbs from Sifuu's shop. The only thing you need to go out of your way to get for more buzzy jars is uncommon bugs.

The makeshift arrows are nutorious for being pretty meh starting off. I wouldn't be surprised if you're also having issues with lag. It gets a lot easier when you get your first standard arrow recipe and bow upgrade recipe

The standard arrows generally one-shot everything in town aside from the "elder" deer and chappa, so it's a good source of income as well

I've been trying to get a starred one. It's the last one I need for the achievement but I see more spotted mantis than I see the duskwings. Beginning to think they got it mixed up. Duskwing feels more rare to me than the spotted mantis 🤣

Yes you can, under the accomplishments option 🙂 They start out in silhouette view and then fill in as you get them. Unfortunately, those with the reset bug have them revert back to the silhouette view when they next log in.

It's where you get the firebreathing dragonflies but you don't need a buzzing jar for them. The range is limited so while using it you need to run to check every place, like a big circle. Make sure to check the interactive map to see where to go first.

I found the bee using the kilima map. I lost the first one chopping the trees on the cliff at leafhopper fields. Took a while to find another chopping near reflection. But I basically chopped the trees that the map showed a bee.

That's one thing the map is useless for though. Any large or medium tree in Kilima has a 10% chance of spawning a golden glory bee when chopped (morning and day).

helpful tip: unless you have a group of people, don't bother hunting the wolf any where other than the cliffs of thorny thicket or the cliffs north of the statue garden. you can cut all the trees down on the elevated platforms and they will glitch out trying to find a tree to hide in. makes them a bit easier to hit.

i've been able to solo multiple wolves doing that, including 3 at a time north of statue garden. just make sure that the area you are hunting is fully elevated from the surrounding area. they can't jump down

I usually find them up north or near Proudhorn Mountain. If you wander around hunting they will show up. Also, let chat know you're looking. Someone may have a horn and add you to their party to help you. The hunters horn allows you to track the magic creatures. You can pin them on the compass so party members know where they pop back up again when they dissaparate.

Oh, one other thing, if you join a hunt, but don't actually take the deer down, it counts for you, as long as you've shot an arrow towards it. Most people will let you know when it's down and mark the loot location so everyone who hunted it can collect the shared loot.

I forget it's name, but it's a beetle that's worth a bit more gold than normal bugs. Not sure if that one also drops silk. The smoke bomb you use is mostly a matter of choice, it's the level of your bug belt that matters more for capture success

is it hard for you to turn while aiming? if so, check your settings for the aiming, for some reason, the game has it set to 0.4 as a default, and it likes to reset your settings from time to time, even in the middle of game play

my settings? i like camera x and y sensitivity at 0.6, with aim sensitivity at 0.7, anything else was way to fast for me to aim properly. will also help with the bow being able to move smoother to shoot

but you can always play with the settings to make it easier for your style

there are three different species in the group. so currently 9 animals to hunt. the ones in kilima are the first stage, the ones in bahari are the second and third groups

you can tell the second from the first by looking at the colors, the second ones are more darker in color and those are the ones that take two or more hits. the magic creatures have white and blue or lighter colors to them

Yep, thats because theres different types of each creature. Kilima mainly has the basic sernuk and basic chapaa (forgot the actual name), which take 1 or 2 shots. Occasionally also the medium ones. Bahari has mainly medium, sometimes basic or rare. Also muujin only spawn in bahari

There is. Depending on what you are looking for.

Many of the rare and epics are limited to specific areas and spawn times

1-Use paliatracker.com to see what is available when. It has a bunch of filters to help cut down what you are seeing.

2- absolutely best time to find them is at the spawn time. For morning and day bugs, that's at 3am game time

This is because at 3, all the night only bugs are despawned and replaced at one time

3- the way the spawn system works is every few min and empty bug slots get repopulated. So run through and catch or scare off all the unwanted bugs.

Then when those spots are repopulated there is a chance for them to spawn.

There are a few that only pop in certain circumstances. Leaf..something..mantis by picking sweetleaf. Golden glory bee when chopping a tree in kilima

Also, the ones in bahari have a chance to spawn with a Grove. Every Grove will either spawn a bug or a magic animal. Bugs I have seen are rainbow butterfly, fairy mantis, and amber beetle

The Blue butterfly is blind and can't be spooked, so gotta throw a bomb at it. Night moth too

I finally got my starred one yesterday. Found a route on reddit someone posted for it. Basically at 230ish be at pulsewater, and running off everything there, at the tick at 3 am, run through checking pulsewater, exit through sw opening, check the plains there and by najumas lake, South towards hassians, east to just before the marshy area, and north to the pulsewater fast travel.

Looks like just a white butterfly from a distance so fairly easy to spot

Found 2 regular and 1 starred in 5-6 runs over the last couple days

The biggest issue is they spook easy, and people run through not looking and run them off without noticing, so that's the other reason to do it right at the tick for morning at 3

there's no need to follow a specific path, just kind of run around pulsewater while keeping in mind that the detection range is 200m, so no need to get too close to the border of the map

I cannot recommend this tip enough for finding the Spitfire Cicada. I caught 3 of them with it, and it lasts long enough for 2 smoke jars and lots of other fun lil bug hunting moments. I got a rainbow butterfly and both starred Fairy Mantis and Ancient Amber Beetle, all from that one buzzy jar.

Get there around of time changes. Like dawn to morning, morning to dusk, dusk to night. The time specific bugs disappear and something has to fill them. And keep scaring the grasshoppers and beetles away. I’ve caught a couple during the time changes.

I am so frustrated! I finally found and killed a proudhorn sernuk on my own and it didn't give me the antlers! Gah! That's the only thing I needed. 😭 I've been trying to find one for days...

welcome to my pain. i have hunted multiple proudhorns, i've even taken down three bluebristle muujins by my self in the same hunt (all three spawned in one tree) and yet no star loot

I can only hope they make some things a little less rare in future updates. This level of frustration makes the game not fun. I've already written off finishing the water and fire temple bundles because I can't catch the last two fish needed. I'd really hate not to be able to finish the friendship quest that needs the antlers.

the best thing i just found out about is the hunter's horn. it will help track down the magical creatures for a while, doesn't help with the muujin, but does work on the proudhorn as it follows it through the teleports

and even shows you where the dang proudhorn teleports into the ocean

I tried a horn once, but it led me to muujin, not the sernuk. I know it can find both, and the spawn locations overlap for both, but I just found it frustrating. But I'll give it a try again.

Nope, other than to get coins since you can see starred bugs before you catch them. Gardening is the only skill where it's confirmed. It's theorized that having a cooking skill could have increased chance of star food but not confirmed

Question about bug catching. It's my least used, and lowest level skill right now. Does throwing multiple smoke bombs increase your catching chances? I see other players throwing multiple bombs often, but when I try, if the bug isn't stunned after one, they try to run away even while I'm actively throwing smoke bombs, so does it help to keep throwing until they stay still or it is just wasting ammo to keep throwing?

I found that bug catching became much easier when I started spamming smoke bombs. I only stop spamming them when I hear the bug stunned sound

However I will say it's easy to go through a couple hundred smoke bombs this way and you will 100% waste some

uncommon you can just stay in Kalima imo and look for green grasshoppers (garden cricket I think)

I just run around the mirror pond and farm fields and sometimes swing down the beach and usually find a handful. I've taken to that because they're used in making a buzzy jar recipe later

My favorite way to catch uncommon bugs is to go to the beach in Bahari Bay and catch the purple crabs. They're easy to see, but you do have to sneak up on them as they run away fast if you alert them. It's how I meet the weekly goal of catching uncommon bugs.

Garden snails are good too. A lot of them are around the beach so you can alternate those with the purple crabs
