you can use dispel arrows to prevent them getting invisible
I do like to use slowdown arrows since it slows them and they'll be covered in a green cloud so it's quite easy to detect them and prevent them from getting to the next tree

When you are close enough you can see them a tiny bit. They arent complete invisible, there is a little blur. Also i would recommend hunting with several people, on is chopping, the others pew with slow arrows and you shot until the running green cloud is dead or in another tree, rinse and repeat

i tooked 400 arrows with me and went for a big hunt, found some other players randomly on the map and we worked together without communication. Someone started choppin, the others start aiming, always switching positon. Super nice. I never hunted so much that my durability of the bow was almost gone^^

Pro hunting Glitzy Fox tip when you know what tree it's hiding in, chop down the surrounding trees giving it less places to hide & have 1 person do the chopping & switch places often giving others a chance if you already got the starred white mane.

Use this tip for hunting the other types as well

When a good group works together you all benefit instead of everyone running off randomly in search of the white muujin

Also have the designated chopper act as the Muujin spotter so they don't lose track of it

I just lost my last 4 duskwings when crafting buzzy jars. Why this crafting system is so broken? It didn't use starred bugs from my inventory and always takes duskwings which are more rare than rare bugs. I got mad. What's the point of catching starred bugs when we can't use them for crafting?!

for some annoying reason duskwing is not only just uncommon (while clearly more rare than spotted mantis), it's also the cheapest uncommon bug. And crafting goes by value so it will be used first. I always move uncommon bugs from storage to inventory when crafting buzzy jars to avoid this happening. However i did not know it prioritized unstarred in storage over starred in inventory, that seems like a bug (or maybe intentional to avoid wasting starred bugs?). Now i feel lucky i always sell starred uncommon bugs instead of trying to make buzzy jars with them.

Yeah... that's why I posted this, I learnt my lesson and probably I should sell starred bugs since I can't use them for crafting or share with others. I keep them because for some annoying quests you had to use starred bugs/fish.

you don't really need high level to get silk. Better bags help with better chance, but you can catch them with any bag. It should not take long to get to at least the iron tier one. If you don't have levels to get buzzy jar, mining in bahari might be your best option for rare bugs (all nodes in bahari have a chance to spawn scintillating centipede)

It's a lighter color with ice-blue stripes. It's easy to spot if you get one, because they teleport and go invisible.

Best way to hunt them is in a group. Need at least 2, one tree-chopper, one bowman, preferably with dispel arrows, and slow arrows help too.

I've gotten a few now, just being the tree-chopper. Once we get one, I run after it, following until it hops up another tree and chop that one down. The hunters just load him up with arrows until dead. It takes a lot.

i'd start with making sure you've done the focus percentage at the dragon temple you start at at phoenix falls using renown and then doing the focus boost at the other dragon shrine.
make lots of bombs. if you don't have any of the smoke candles to make you so you don't scare bugs, try and get some of the smoke bombs that do. i like to have candles, some sticky (green) smoke bombs for faster bugs, and then regular (purple/bluey) smoke bombs, and sometimes i'll make a honey lure.
you can go to #1143270926394335282 and group up with ppl with lures and/or make your own bug catching party so its easier to get the bugs. or just announce in chat in game and see if anyone wants to join up.

either grab a buzzy jar and run around S bahari during day (that's probably best option), or do some mining in bahari (scintillation centipede spawns from all nodes in bahari on occasion). Cutting large sapwood trees in bahari might be an option as well (spawns amber beetle at like 5% chance)

I get all my silk thread from mining or foraging in Bahari, just catching the bugs that spawn occasionally then tossing that on the loom. Your other option is to make lots of money and buy the silk you need off the register in Tish's shop.

Ok, so, I'm a bit simple-brained. Is there a trick to hunting Muujin? Feels like three seconds after they see me, or after my first hit, they bolt up a tree and disappear. And there's no "chapaa burrowing into the ground" animation to give me an extra second or two to hit them

regular or magic? both regular ones are fairly easy, base one takes 1 iron arrow, "elder" one 2 iron. You just cut down the tree and kill 2-3 before they run for the next tree. make sure to bind tools to keys to switch them quickly. Magic one is hard to kill solo, best to do it in a group. Or you can hunt in the secret op spot: || on the hill NW from statue garden is a spawning hotspot for muujin. On the E side of this hill is a small ledge with 3 trees and up to 5 muujin. They can't jump down from it so killing them is just a matter of time||

Having a designated tree-chopper/tracker and the rest hunt makes them easy work.

I've gotten the Duskwing at the Dragon Temple/Shrine between 3a to 6a. I know the Wiki says all day, but it has never spawned for me after 6a. But yea... it was one of those get there before and just walk around the area that is in front of the steps to the shrine. (the bigger grassy area)

Your best bet is to chop down trees. If you want the magic muujin, ideally you want to group up so you can have a designated tree-chopper that just runs after the muujin and chops down the next yree it climbs up while everyone shoots. If you can have at least 1 person with dispel arrows and 1 with slow, it's easier to track. Do a call out in the server chat that you're hunting or asking to join. You can usually get one or two people on board.
Also the little plateau in Thorny Thicket, just above Tamala's cave- they cannot jump off. So if you chop down all the trees, the muujin are stuck running around until dead!
Best of luck.

These days, I go for Flow groves, and it tends to be that you find one or two muujin when chopping those down. Just pick up the hunt as soon as they spawn! Once folks see one running away visible (dispelled) you tend to get a pack of hunters following. Just don't lose them if they go invisible again!!

I find magic chappa in zone one of Bahari Bay -- sometimes in the field closest to Hodari & Najuma's house but mostly the next field west and the field by the sunken estate and Temple of the Gales. They are TOUGH to find cause as people run through the area they scare them and they pop off running and disappear. It's a matter of camping the areas or (my method) just do what your doing and keep your eyes peeled for them. You will find em!!!

There's a set of ledges northwest of Statue Garden that is my favorite spot to hunt disco deer. If you stand downhill, they get trapped on the ledges and it's pretty easy. Honey Lures aren't good for profit. They're mostly good for bug-catching XP, and used in a party to maximise catches. But they can be used to help catch rare spawns if used in the right time and place that the rare bug spawns (refer to paliatracker.com).

They spawn on the orange trees in Bahari. I found most of mine of the cliffs on the north side between hassians cave and the wind temple. It used to be quiet enough that people didn't scare them off but not sure if that's still the case now the temple is open. I would go looking at trees that are out of the way up on cliffs

I tend to go for the purple crabs, they spawn quite frequently

and yes, the honey lures will spawn bugs from the area it's placed. It will still keep the spawn percentage tho. So you'll get a lot of grasshoppers and if you're lucky, one jewelwing dragonfly

but more than not you'll get the purple grasshopper.. Never seen it spawn the dragonfly, but they are easy enough to find with the buzzy jars. Remember that the time of day also count into spawn chance

no problem! another thing to watch out for is the arrow dropoff. if it reaches a certain distance the arrows tend to fall downwards, so aim a little higher than the creature's body the further away you are from them. Upgraded arrows do more damage and upgraded bows shoot farther i believe (so you can compensate less for the dropoff)

The different arrows do have different strengths and ability to kill deer faster. The original ones are like spit balls. Have to use a lot. The standard arrow kill regular deer and chappa with one shot. The fine arrow will kill the elder and striped chappa usually in 2 shots. The magic deer and chappa need dispel arrows to stop them from teleporting, slow down arrows to keep them still and fine arrows to kill. I usually pelt with dispel tho cuz I can't change the arrows that fast and they get away.

For me:

• If you are doing Honey Lure to complete achievements, of course it's the best to put it in the area of bugs you needed
• If you are doing Honey Lure and want people to join, you can put it when Flow Tree Groves spawn (many people do this now)
• If you are doing Honey Lure for profit (finding epic bugs), I can suggest you to put Honey Lure at Top of Pavel Mines since 3 Epic Bugs can appear there (Rainbow-tipped Butterfly, Fairy Mantis and Jewerling Dragonfly). Many people also do lures at Pulsewater Plains

Whatever it is, just make sure to call out in the server chat so people can also have fun with you

I also notice this! Based on my experiences, at least there will be an Epic bug in the Flow Tree Groves. The spots with Epic bugs at FTG that happened to me:

• North-east cliffs from Statue Garden, I got starred Rainbow-tipped Butterfly once yesterday. Also have caught quiet many Fairy Mantis as well as Jeweling Dragonfly
• Both south cliffs and north area of Flooded Fortress, the most I got from this area were Fairy Mantis

If you're kind enough, you can equip Smoke Candle when Flow Tree Groves spawn, be the first to grove and call out the Epic bugs for the others. But I think it's useless since many people will come and spook them anyways. So I think best to say just be the first to come to the grove and catch it for yourself xD

i only ever find them at that time spawning naturally, never seen one spawn from a lure

once you find a good rotation and start to see the spawn areas of the bugs i typically find 1-2 butterflies per cycle but sometimes you dont find one

haha, rasp was a pain too. I got lucky and saw it next to the omaruu one day.

Both the golden bee and the jewelwing would spawn frequently for me, but never the gold star. Duskwing, i had a hard time getting the regular one, but then one day RNG was on my side and I got both the spotted and duskwing gold in the same day

idk if this is a thing, but i noticed i found really good ones right after an update too. like RNG reset or something

And one last word vomit: I actually found 2 gold rainbow tipped butterflies while I was hunting. One, someone put a honey lure down in the field just south of the pond Najuma hangs out at. (I feel guilty about this one because it was only the person who put it down and I just crashed it lol and they didn't even see the butterfly).

The other was late night/early morning and I was fishing at hideaway. TBH I found most rainbow butterflies over in that area, and they kinda blend in with the cliffs especially at night.

Duskwings spawn like mad now at the hours of 3-5 am. Did a test with the Rainbow-tipped and it seems to have a similar result now, got started late at around 4:28 am, but they didn't spawn as abundant as the Duskwings did. Perhaps if I start at 3 am.

Hunting is my worst skill, but i am getting the hang of muujin. Find a place up a cliff where they hang out, gradually cut the trees to make them move to the remaining trees, and when the last tree is down they cant hide

Slowdown arrows are the best for muujin. Also you can cut the four trees on top of Thorny and they have no place to run.

it's better to go with iron arrows for non-magic ones. You need 1/2 iron arrows for those, or 2/3 copper. So it's a large difference.

yes, but those are the "base" variant. All 3 base animals can be killed with 1 arrow. Having the "elder" variants die with 1 arrow would make them boring (they would be basically the same creature, just reskin). By having more hp than a single arrow they are slightly different than the base ones (even if they are just a reskin with more hp, they still require different approach).
If you play on pc try to learn basic animation cancel for hunting and use slow arrows, they are easy to hunt with those 2 things combined. Not sure if you can do animation cancel on switch, but slowdown arrows alone should be fine as well.

This might already be known but when hunting the elders, once you hit them don't run after them but follow them so you can keep track. Wait for them to stop so you can get a good shot

I have ever only gotten one starred rare insect from a lure. All of my rare starred insects have been gotten using buzzy jars and being persistantly in the known spawn areas of the insect in question right at the start of it's regular spawn in time. But that's been my RNG, yours may vary.

The best way to kill it is to let is see you. It will split into 4 chappas. Shoot one of them with a dispel arrow. This will stun the real one so you can finish it. If you should it with out it seeing you it typically gets away.

So basically at thorny thicket there's a plateau that muujin can spawn on and not escape when spooked. If you make a flow tree spawn there you can chase all the muujin into that tree and they will "level up" into magic muujin. So long as you cut down the other trees they will have no where to go and will run around in circles.
