So, you need another base room, and you can use the one already on the present

First move out the windows to make space, then place a room on a present as close as possible to your house on that side, place another as a 2nd storey on top of it, then remove the one on the present from below
And you got a room floating mostly the same as now but without the present

You can float the houses like anything else, so you can cancel place the present somewhere to the side or at a distance before you place the house, so that you can hide the present.

For the future…. Put the present on the ground somewhere where you can hide it, then cancel place it on some builders blocks up in the air where you want the house floating. Place the house on the present up there. Then when you pick up the present and place it down again the present will not be under the floating house and you’ll be able to hide the present.

Yeah the present has to be anchored to the ground, but the house doesn’t actually have to be touching the present. This is how I get my houses out of bounds. I cancel place the present far across my plot before I place the house. Then I can put the present on the edge of my plot and the house is off in the woods somewhere.

It works with the houses because they don’t seem to have a distance limit from their anchor. Other things (water tower, for instance) can’t be that far from their anchor.

I did too. IT IS SO COOL to see it. I shot it over the ocean and got confused thinking it was was a misfire.

So I shot a normal flare next to it, and it didn't expand as additional flares. It overrwrote the frogbert one, replacing it entirely.

And when I reshot the frogbert one, it replaced the normal flare with it. So you cannot have both running at the same time.

Note: There can only be one frogbert flare and its blue.

its always been that way. if you flare say a gold ore and then a few seconds later you find another and flare it, it cancels out the first one

Thoughts on the patch...
The Honeybunch Set is quirky, although I would have preferred if the dev team had used naming conventions that were already in the game.
Using words like "Sconce" & "Settee" when "Couch" & "Wall Lamp" would have been much more search bar [both workbench & storage box] friendly.
As well it would have been nice to see them take this chance to give the Honeybunch items that were released previously tint options. However that one can always come down the road with enough community support.

It's nice to see the conservatory addition come into the game, though... it being added so far into the lunar path, is a bit much. As someone who likes to assist the community with testing & troubleshooting it doesn't exactly feel great to have to say to those to come seeking my assistance:
"I apologize, but I won't have access to that till some time next month." 💔

Over all I am trying my best to keep my comments constructive, that's mostly why I've been attempting to take a step back from viscerally posting.
Though I bring attention to this part in the "Top Known Issues" that came in with this patch [in case anyone missed it]:
Players will temporarily be unable to apply wallpapers to the Conservatory and Fireplace following the 0.201 update.
So at least we should be expecting a fix to this when 0.202 drops in May. 🪭

the add-ons are all made for rooms with the length of 9 in mind, doubt we will see any different sizes of actual rooms anytime soon, if ever lol (except for maybe a room that will have a length of 9 on one side)
they would have to work on a system which dynamically changes the sizes of add-ons or throw hundreds of assets at us with different sizes for the same thing, which would be kinda painful to work with

but I would rather have the dynamic wall cutouts first before any other roomsize, so we can hopefully place rooms off-center

Yes you don’t have to do the board to get the chests at the top you can just do your dailies and weeklies. But if you don’t unlock them all before the next update you won’t get what wasn’t unlocked. And as for the paths those don’t go away. I didn’t do the last two boards and got all the chests just by doing the dailies and weeklies

I did not look at layout at all for my first plot... just kept adding rooms to my grand harvest house so it's this huge sprawling thing. My second plot, I have the layout in my head, but each room is getting done individually. My most recent plot, I have all the houses up and now am gradually filling them, but that one is a village, so I felt like I had to figure out where to put all the different buildings before I started really decorating them.

Yes on certain projects make even more sense, i have a plot at 10% that i did all outside first, because its a litle village/town, but on my houses, like "living" house i have to the the rooms first at least in my head xD

Well, if that's the case, you already have a dock in place, so use that as ur starting point. From there figure out what else you would like to add like a pond (would look good where ur circle bridge is), seating areas, etc. From there you can figure out the flow of your plot pretty easily. Honestly ur house is in a pretty good spot already. If u don't like it there, u could move it more towards the upper right, so u have more space to create transitions between spaces

If ur going fantasy/whimsical spring, you could make flower arches, and put "colored eggs" in them along ur pathways, maybe create a bunny hollow in the woods, have a nice picnic spot by a pond. All kinds of stuff

Maybe start with one room, as Lila said, if you have your dock up, start builind a room that connects with outside, see what makes sense as a transition there, and maybe the rest will come with it, you can always make things pretty, however the layout is symetrical or not

And as far as layout, focus more on how the inetrior of your house flows before worrying about what it looks like on the outside. You can always add things/cover things on the exterior. If you build for aesthetics starting with the exterior, you can run into issues

Or, well, let me correct myself. Keep both in mind, but prioritize flow over how it may look without additional pieces, etc.

Idk if this would be helpful for u or not, but I tend to build radially, and focus the entire build around one specific thing. Like the trellis on my farm plot. So if there is something in your house which you want to focus on more than anything else, start with that and add on from there. The layout will sort itself

Also helps from a design perspective bc u can then base the rest of ur build off what u have

we are the same i always start with what rooms i want first—kitchen, bedroom, a study? etc, set the layout of the structure first...then my garden...landscaping is always the last and whatever else i would like to add
i think this way i'm able to save up space coz i can place what's important for me first and cluttering later

I decide a theme, make a list of all the rooms I want, all the different spaces/points of interest I want, then go from there on how to mesh it all together. Sometimes make a drawing of how I want it all layed out

The houses are weird, because when you move them on presents, they remember where they were--you can't put them down again in the same area, you have to move them far away and then move them back. So I wonder if because you had the present too far, the window was seeing the house as "in the way" even though the house was no longer there. This makes sense in my head, but I could be just way off base.

Not quite what I meant but I understand where you are coming from.

My comment was more about performance and buffs vs nerfs. It's easier to buff something, if reasonable and warranted, than to nerf it. Our chief concern has always been to push the boundaries of what is possible with our housing systems while ensuring that it is functional and performant for all devices and platforms we support.

For example the conservatory is a large window that allows for transparency which we have to account for in performance. Your rooms it's attached to suddenly illuminate by the light source of the landscape, you can see animations and players outside the window from within the house, things that were culled by the wall are now visible. It's rather impactful because of these things but we must remember that this impact also hits performance as well.

We made this change due to overwhelming positive feedback about the estate line acquisition as cratables via Lunar Paths but as I mentioned we may have missed the mark here a bit.

It's a lesson we will carry forward with us though in our quest to continously learn and grow to make Palia the best it can be!

Most people focus the blue seeds first too, so you might not need to shoot them yourself and just try to grab the seeds on your first play

Nope you can opt to use any line/room you want! There's harvest which is the main line, and then there's 2 homelines: alchemist and estate. Harvest only works within other harvest additions, so you can't mix and match. But you can mix and match pieces of the alchemist and estate homelines with eachother

You can also have all 3 types on your plot, just can't attach the homelines to the harvest house

Not sure what you mean? Some sets you can buy with gold or skill medals, some you have by default, you can obtain recipes within the same sets by crafting other pieces (called inspiration), and some pieces are only obtainable from zeki's underground

Just remember that now the fireplace counts as a whole room and towards your building total. So if you're like me, and already at the max, you won't be able to place it. The new bug shiny windows? They count as a whole room as well.

Meanwhile in the Harvest house line, hallways and fireplaces don't count. Hoping it's a bug and they fix it, because I'm not sacrificing 4 rooms just to have nice windows and a fireplace lol

I understand this, but I wish this had been better communicated in the patch notes, so players would have had clear expectations. Considering that the Harvest House system doesn't count hallways or fireplaces towards the room or building limit, it was a reasonable assumption of the player that windows and fireplaces in the Alchemist line would also not count things like windows and fireplaces towards the room/building limit.

If there had been an explanation ahead of time, it would have given players a heads up and the ability to mentally prepare vs getting excited and then immediately disappointed after grinding really hard to get to the path levels to unlock much wanted features.

I'm mostly upset that since the windows and fireplaces counting as rooms was an intended design, it should have been communicated when they originally announced them. I also agree that they should have communicated that the Alchemist Cottage would be craftable in the new path.

I do wish they had kept it both ways - let us have the option to craft or buy. That way, we dont feel like we have to rush through a path to get to the parts of the house build that we want

Honestly, I understand their reasoning, as someone who works in web development and has friends working in game development. I just wish it had been communicated better. They could have saved themselves a lot of potentially negative feedback and player upset if they had clearly outlined the restrictions of this housing line from the start in the Patch Notes.

I know it's not great that you have to put a lot of work into it but for those who are just starting out or (like me) Don't have a lot of money sloshing around it means you can unlock it with Regular game play.

Oh, I love that I can craft the items! I just feel bad for my bestie who has two toddlers and can only play like once a week. It's going to take her months to complete her build now lol

I think what ppl r upset about is that they had access to it, but now they have to grind xp to get access again. Being able to craft them is great, but to log in mid build and realize that you can't touch your build for up to a week with no heads up is a bit deflating, lol

So, I think the drop rate of things is a little... weird? I was fishing for a mirror carp for the daily (which is an uncommon fish), and it took forever to find one. In the meantime, though, have a waterlogged chest. As well as several plushies (there was also a minnow that I had already put down on my plot before I took this picture). And seven waterlogged boots in just that short bit of fishing? And yet only two blue eggs.

Idk if attaching it would remove anything u have on the wall either, since some stay and some don't. If not, you can place ur curtains first, then the fireplace

The devs did say in the patch notes that not being able to use wallpaper on these was temporary. Hopefully by next patch, we'll be able to se wallpaper to cover it!

Or hang ur curtains on a wall piece or something and hide it in the wall itself to the side. You can float them off a plate and hide that plate inside the fireplace under ur fire, etc

Before you could just put the shelf right on top, and it wouldn't collide with the map. Now it does. So now u have to eyeball where to place it and hope it lines up after cancel placing the map away

An easier way would be to put the map on one piece, or just on the wall, then just push the shelves into it, but again, you have to eyeball if it fits and adjust a lot vs the old way

Thanks for the ping and sorry for the silence this week. Been busy with work and sick kids News yes, but bad ones UUUUGH. Been having problem with the porch warping back to the plot entrance since the last update even do it should be attached. I hate this game, let us just free place stuff within the grid pls. But I'm not giving up. I have made it work before and I'm gonna do it again.. hopefully. If they didn't patch it completely.

Red present tricks are not patched. It still works the same way it always has--nothing changed with the patch. But I still can't get a porch on a present, before or after the patch, so that's what I'm trying to figure out.

As for your teleporting, it's either floated too far from the present, too low below the surface of your plot, or the present isn't anchored to the ground. The first and third problems are easy to fix. Nothing you can do if it's the distance below your plot, though. It won't stay there if that's the case.

That's the big issue tho. The red present stays in place when in bounds but the porch do not. So I'm actually not sure it's actually attached at this moment.

And the docks I did in the picture they all warped back so i guess it's the distance below the plot.

The present will stay, but the thing on the present will not. It won't stay anchored if it's too far away, but nothing will happen to the present--the present stays where you left it.

But how do you even get it ON the present?!

I think what ppl are interested in is how you even got the porch onto the present to begin with? If you try, it stays red and won't allow placement. Just like the Harvest House?

In bounds, you need to place each pieces without them liking to another Out of bounds... I'd say either get floors sunk underneath them (since you need them linked to get out of bounds) or put a rug underneath

You're gonna love it bc it's ridiculously easy XD All u need to do is line up 2 HH's in the same exact spot on 2 diff plots, then put ur piece on, on the main plot.

From there u can move ur ghost house the piece is attached to wherever u want on the other plot, and it will show in that spot on the main

I find it easier to start from your plot corner, no need for maths that way

Place ur house in the corner as far as u can on ur main, place one on a second plot in the same exact spot, switch back to ur main, and add ur piece. If it doesn't detach, you just have to pick up the HH on the main, move it out of the way, then place it back.

Best thing about this new ghosting method is that it works on console , tho it may be tricky to align the houses exactly, that's why I had to finally buy the plot that gave me the gazebo

That's why it helps to mush it into the corner until right before it turns red on both sides, lol

And if the hallway does not detach, you just have ur anchor houses backwards, and will just pick up the main, place it somewhere else, then put it back in the same exact spot, and it should detach correctly

nope, ur just using the edge of the grid as a measuring tool/bumper to ensure ur placing them in the same spot

I would recommend that way bc it gives u some space between the house and the hallway

and since u will have to place them back to back, u may need to use a second plot for a ghost, or create a longer arm

I'll build one and take pics just in case. That way u don't run into a lot of issues
