The soil needs to be anchored to the outside ground, like on a present, otherwise it doesn't work. So I just floated them off presents and used builder bridges flipped on their sides as borders

And it's a base almost fully sunk, so you're looking at the roof you can put bases on presents as well and sink them that way

You have to unlock all the areas of your plot before you can use the glitches to build out of bounds (those areas with the padlocks at the two sides of your plot—they all need to be unlocked).

You could try flicking it onto a builders floor, but I honestly don’t know if it will work. And that builders floor would have to be anchored to the outside ground, not placed inside a house.

I cannot promise that your soil won’t fly into the void, though, so beware that you could lose the soil.

Otherwise you can build one out of shelves.

Candle > Lure = Non-Smoke bombs; makes unwanted critters scatter while you farm..... Effeciency for tints.

like the size of them isn't an even ratio with the dimensions of the houses so they don't fit around at all. and then if you use them for just partial coverage or in some other way the pieces don't click into corners like the other fence style items that have the joint sockets

I did a lot of experimenting when they first came out, and they fit perfectly…. on only one side. But once you have them on one side, they will no longer fit on the next sides. And if you have a second floor house there next to your railing it’s even worse. They should have made them shorter, with a corner post, which would have then also made it work when you have a house wall next to them (the post would be the same thickness as the wall and it would all have fit perfectly). Unfortunately, they didn’t ask me. 🤣

You can sometimes get them to merge like that, but this is an old video and it doesn't always work the way she does it in the video. Also, she completely skips the step where you put it on the pillar, which is a key step. 🤦‍♀️ Also, she keeps talking about ghosting, which is actually a different glitch, so if you were to google videos to figure that out, it would lead you down the wrong path.

Oops, hit enter too soon. If you can get them to merge like that by placing them on the ground, then you would need to group select to place them on the pillar, and then group select with the pillar once you had them on there. I think. It would be better to use cancel placement (the correct term for what she calls ghosting) to get them to merge as one unit, although it will be tricky with all the angled pieces. Not impossible, but it will take some planning.

You can do it without the angling by just making sure the floors are connected to each other when you place them. You would just have corners to deal with.

Yay! And yeah, I just tried the merge placement thing she was doing in the video and it really doesn't work anymore. With the grid off, I could slide one floor into another to a point so they overlapped, but once I tried the third, it refused to go where I wanted--they snap and jump all over the place and even with the grid off just don't place they way they did in that video (my second picture here is absolutely as close as I could get that third floor merged with the first two--it would not go any other way. not exactly useful in this shape).

I had the same experience, I could get a couple to overlap but making the full edge exterior was tough

BUT, with the bowl and group select, you can get them to merge. You just can't have the floor you're about to place close to the others or you will group select them all. And if you decide you don't like where you place a floor, you have to move it away again before you move it back. But I was able to overlap them decently with the bowl. Then you would group select to pick them all up together because they won't be actually attached to one another.

Then once you group select to place them on a pillar, they will all move as one unit when you pick up and move the pillar.

You use rotational floating: you rotate your anchor, then cancel place it flat, then place your item. Everything moves in the opposite direction you expect, though, so your item will rotate counter clockwise if you rotate your anchor clockwise. And if you move your anchor up or down your item moves left/right in relation to the anchor, and if you move the anchor left/right, the item moves up and down in relation to the anchor.

Cancel placement is definitely the way! But as for the reason it won’t fit? I’m guessing some of your surrounding decor is causing the problem…. Like you might be able to put a tree close to a house but not a house close to a tree. Or something of the sort!

As above but I’m pretty sure you have to unlock all the sections of your first plot first. At that point you’ll get a free second plot. Then they cost lots of gold…. The first is 50,000, then 75,000, and they keep going up.

Several months ago, couldn't give you an exact date unfortunately. I'm suspecting the game had a problem with switching between plots that have houses in the same position.

Although, my fish tanks just did the same, so... Something is cursed here.

So yeah. That is a thing. There used to be a glitch called ghosting that involved switching between plots. That got patched, but then we discovered recently that there is a second sort of version of ghosting that involves having buildings in EXACTLY the same spot on more than one plot. So you probably inadvertently discovered that same thing. It should not have stayed on that other plot, though--I think reloading would have fixed that.

Hello, so I watched a tutorial on how to use the red present to put a house on a terrace, and it worked perfectly. I did it on my practice plot. I went to my actual plot and I can’t recreate getting the house on the present . When I choose the house it won’t give me the option to place it. Any ideas? Also, you can stand close to the present or far, and if you aim correctly at the top of the present, you really shouldn't have to do anything. If the aim is right, then when you click on the house, it will snap to the top of the present no matter where you stand. So you just click to place. Then unstuck to get out of there and then go back to pick it up and move it wher eyou want.

The red present is really only absolutely necessary for a few things--basically it takes the place of obstacle flicking if you are on console (that is the one glitch not possible on console), and it is the only thing you can put a house on. Also, there are a couple fences that won't go on anything but a present (at least I'm pretty sure). Other than that, if you can flick, you can usually get things onto pretty much any other anchor.

You can only move the anchor. So don't grab the item you sunk or you will unsink it. You need to move it by moving whatever you anchored it to.

Oh! That's because the thing you sunk is now in the way. You have to cancel place it somewhere else to move your anchor, and then the thing you sunk will snap back.

And you will have to cancel place it somewhere where it won't get in the way elsewhere. When you go to move the anchor, the cancel placed thing will still move from the position you cancel placed it to, so you can't have anything in the way there either.

No, this is when you actually grab your sunk item, but you want to cancel place it so you don’t destroy the sinking of it. But you want that item out of the way so that you can place your anchor where you need it.

I took some pictures to explain. I sunk the plush using the present as the anchor. When I put it on the ground, it will place, because the ground is never in the way when you are placing something (second picture). But if I try to place it on top of the crate (third picture), it says something is in the way because the plushie is colliding with the crate. (It will also collide with the floor inside--the floor is not like the ground outside.) So instead, I cancel place the plushie off somewhere else (you can see it in the distance in my fourth picture), and then I can move the present to the crate and place it (fifth picture). Once I place it, the plushie snaps back to where it belongs sunk in relation to the present, even though now it is sunk into the crate that it was colliding with before. You just have to make sure that wherever you cancel place your sunk item (the plushie in my case), there is room for it to move, because it will still move with the anchor when you move the anchor, just at that distant spot where you cancel placed it.

It's not tinted, it's just the wicker wall lamp and hanging lamp. They both used to be on, and now they're off and switching them off/on does nothing. I guess they're just glitching, but I haven't seen it do that with just 2 lamps out of the entire house before. Thanks for the answer, tho!

I'm out of red presents 🙁 what other items work as well for anchors? I have tried a number of things for rotating the bridge parts but to no avail.

If you are on PC and know how to flick, you should be able to flick it onto another anchor like a dessert plate, but you have to do it with the plate hanging out of bounds. So you would put the plate on the edge of a shelf or a floor and put that shelf/floor on the edge of your plot so it's hanging over the out of bounds area. Then when you flick, it will go to the plate because there is no ground grid to interfere. (Disclaimer... I have not tried this with bridge pieces, but it works for most other items, so hopefully it will work for the bridge piece, too.)

Most videos will tell you there's this precise timing of keystrokes, but that is soooo hard to learn. It works much better if you hold your mouse button down with the "in the way" item and then tap the number for the thing you want to place. And you also don't need to change the keybinds that they tell you in old videos.

So basically, you have some other item (let's say a pillar) on your plot that you will flick with and note the number in the hotbar of the thing you want to place (let's say a plushie). You move the pillar into the place where you want the plushie, and when it says "something is in the way," you hold your mouse button down like you want to place the pillar, and hit the number key for the plushie in your hotbar. That's really all there is to it. You can yourself be the thing in the way, too, so just stand with like your shoulder in the area where you want to place the pillar so it gives you the "something is in the way" message.

I was thinking of using an estate base without roof as a lounge/waiting area. I just gotta figure out where I want to place the bouncy shrooms since the cooking stations will be on a floating platform. 🤔 I will dread hunting for those darn Schmole plushies. 💀

This is a known issue that I doubt will be fixed since it’s the old home line. Sometimes you can find the sweet spot and it’ll go. When you are inside you also can not decorate that wall or put wallpaper on it. I changed the arch way and was able to get it but I only put it on an empty regular room decorated the walls and moved it back to hallway

hello glitch professionals! i'm trying to put the lily rattan umbrella in the corner of my porch as shown, but it does not like that spot (it will only let me place it essentially in the middle of my porch). i'm fairly new to the glitches, but i don't see how i can use the flick method since i need it to rotate slightly before placing? any ideas?

You have to finish the rootseeker bundle in the night sky temple. You’ll get the reed planter recipe as a reward and then eventually get the hanging planter from inspiration.

You can flick it onto a plate and then rotate the plate as needed. You will have to have the plate hanging over the out of bounds area (put it on the edge of a shelf or floor that is hanging over the edge of your plot). It will be hard to grab the plate, but just cancel place the umbrella away to move the plate.

No it has to stay because the umbrella is anchored to it. But now you can move the umbrella wherever you want!

The board is probably floating far away or underground, since it’s still attached to your anchor. In that case it won’t end up in the lamp zone.

Okay, so think about humans... A loooong time ago, people were already having kids in their teens and getting to age 40 was amazing. So yes, now the humans are gone and replaced by majiri, but maybe they have ended up with adulthood even later than we have it now. Hence Najuma can be 20 and still be like a 15-year-old. You have to look for tutorials on building out of bounds. And you have to unlock all the sections of your plot first. It takes some glitching tricks to do it.

You can segment it into a plot…. An idea.

The alchemist and estate houses let you put it sliiiightly over the boarder. If you can position the stairs by the box, very easy cover to reduce attention to it. You can probably get away with covering most of it with ancient bushes too if you play your cards right.

There are some floors hidden underground there. It was a really long time ago, so I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure I flicked the rock onto the floors (I don't think you can just place the rock on them? But I can't remember) and then cancel placed the rock out of the way before sinking the floors underground. They are anchored to a paver that is in bounds. (I picked up the floor in the second picture so you can see.)

Also, I can still get to the bin from the back, so I can still use it.

This is because you're trying to connect more than 50 items from one another, try changing the order you place the walls (or floors)
Also, you can try placing the floors separately and anchor them all at the same time with group select, that way they'll be all at the same "height" in the stack

I'm guessing it's because the water part on this skin sits lower than on the previous skin you used, so if you'd switch back to that one it'd be at the right height again. If that's the case then you'd have to re-sink your jetty to the new height

Okay, so I did some counting anyway. The harvest house is 12 x 12 on the outside (11x11 is probably the inside measurements), and while I can't count exactly, the conservatory is a little longer and a little narrower, so I think it's about 11 x 13 on the outside. I took pictures holding a harvest house over it, so you can see the outline. 🙂

The only thing you cannot do on console is obstacle flick. All of the items in the game behave the same way so a plate on PC is the same as a plate on console, and every other glitch besides flicking is possible! Here is a post where Tiny Dragon shows a method of making those stairs since we can't use the bowls the same way anymore. It's a little more involved, but it's possible. #🏡│decor message

I really wish they connected. It would be so pretty to just walk from one room of your house into the conservatory. You can fake it by putting an alchemist/estate house on a red present, but the railings for the entry way don't go away. I made it work, but a seamless connection would be fantastic.

Okay, I just wanted to check, because there is an old glitch called ghosting which got patched a year ago, and a lot of people come asking how people did that (you can still find plots with ghosted buildings--the glitch got patched, but the builds stay until people move stuff).

In any case, what you want to do involves putting the house on a red present and then using cancel placement. Do you have a red present?

And to get it so it rests on the ground and doesn't float, you want to first put your present on top of a second present, then cancel place that top present onto the ground, and place your house on that present.

Then you want to figure out where your red present house is going to be and place it, measure carefully where you need to place the greenhouse/conservatory, cancel place your house on the present out of the way, place your conservatory, and reload your plot.

Do you just have the basic landscape? Some landscapes are darker than others. Unfortunately, they cost real money, but I think the Elderwoods plots are darker, and I can attest that inside at night on the winter landscape (Aurora Peaks), I feel like I'm going blind because it's so dark.

It would be helpful to see a picture, so we know where you built this on the regular plot, where it is on your new landscape, how it was built. The out of bounds areas on the different landscapes are quite different, so this kind of thing will happen when you switch between plot skins. Some of my stuff was underground when I tried the winter landscape on my main plot (I went back to the basic landscape for that one instead of changing anything).
