There's only the one campfire, which I think only has fire if you use it. Then there's the emberborn brazier, which is big. But there is also the emberborn floor lamp or something that is tall on a pillar/pedestal which you could sink. Then there are log cabin torches which are very small--I often group a few of those with other stuff to make it look like a fire. The cauldron from the spooky store upside down also looks lke coals/wood that is burning although there are no flames. Oh yeah, the firepit... I forgot that one.

I often use the log carrier with other stuff to make it look like it's burning.

But I'm usually making fireplaces and just finding ways to make them have fire in them.

I can show you a few fireplaces and tell you what I used... The first picture is the fire pit plus log cabin torches--you could sink it so that it's down in the ground and only the rim and the fire shows. Second is my bonfire, which is definitely way too big, but I wanted to show you that you can sink the brazier so it's almost down at ground level. The one in the third one is the log cabin wood carrier sunk with some log cabin torches for fire. Fourth one is an upside down cauldron with some log cabin torches. And the last one is the other log carrier we have with torches. Hopefully this helps a little with visualizing what you're trying to do!

Oh, yeah, opening the wall is the easiest way. But you would have to replace everything on the wall (you can't even cancel place the stuff off and then open the wall, because the stuff will still be attached to the wall and get picked up into inventroy). And you can't flick, so... 😬

I don't think they will move if you put a pillar next to them and multiselect with the pillar, and you can't put them on something or they will teleport. You could float them off a block outside (which has to be touching the ground) and move them into the wall that way. I think that might be the only way.

Start with your anchor (paver? plate?) on the shelf upside down. Then cancel place it right side up and downward to place the pot. (I'm pretty sure it's downward... it's possible in my tired state I have that backwards--I barely slept last night.)

Oh yeah, I blame my tired state. I forgot those are ground items, right? So you have to flick it onto the paver or the plate, and you probably have to do it with the paver hanging out of bounds. Oh, or you might be able to do it by putting a plant in the pot and group selecting with the plant. It might then place on a paver, but I'd have to check.

Don't flick over the ground grid, though. You want that paver or plate hanging in the air over the out of bounds area.

You put your shelf on a wall. Then you cancel place the wall a couple squares forward (in the direction of the side with the shelf). Then you put your paver (or plate--I tried both and both work, plate would actually be smaller and easier to hide under the bottom pot) on the shelf. Pick up the wall and place it down again, and the paver or plate will be floating off the shelf. Then you put that wall on the edge of your plot so that the paver/plate is hanging out over the out of bounds area. Then you do the same thing as before, with the shelf upside down, and then cancel placing it right side up and lower. Then you can flick the pot onto the paver/plate (I used the cobweb). Yes, you can use the same plate as the top. Just cancel it downward to place the second pot.

Your anchor will end up inside the bottom pot, but just cancel the pot off the anchor to move the anchor and the pot will go back.

So, I've been wondering, I've seen people sinking terraces with the edge in bounds, so they can then put decor out of bounds. Makes sense. Would you just do the same thing for a body of water?

What I'd like to do is find a way to float the Elderwood lotus lamps in a lake or creek so they look like crystal lake lotuses, but that's decorating in water and out of bounds.

You don't need a line of pavers, just a single paver as your anchor. You place the paver, then you cancel place it a distance away. The distance is how far your item will be floating. Then you put your item on the paver. When you pick up the paver and place it down again, the item will be floating at a distance at the same height as the paver.

However, many things will not place on a paver without some other tricks so you might need to use a different anchor or a different trick to get the item onto the paver.

Also, if you raise the paver up when you cancel place it, the item will be higher. If you lower the paver down when you cancel place it, the item will be lower.

Also, just want to add that you don't need the edge of the terrace in bounds--this might be a choice due to what someone was trying to build, but the edge in bounds has nothing to do with whether you can place things on it. No matter whether the edge is in or out of bounds, you have to place the items on it before you sink it, unless you leave the top of the terrace slightly above the ground.

Have you added stuff like the votive candles, the flotsam jar candle holders, the fishy driftwood stand thing, maybe some vases or plants, spa day jars, maybe even slippers? You could make it look like there are t-shirts folded on shelves with different colored cutting boards. I'll keep thinking.

Maybe your gift shop sells the pretty holiday plates, too?

Maybe the wedding scrolls could be made to look like something, too.

Hello! I'm hoping someone can tell me if what I want is even possible... I'm on switch, so I am limited in what I can and can't do.

I want to put 3 of the large yard platforms interlocking with each other, but in the sky, not on the ground. I can currently get 2 but only barely, because they meet at the top of 2 different sections, but because of how much they have to be on the platform they're sitting on, I can't get it to work and was just wondering if it's even possible.

Example, in the picture everything outlined in red is on the same level, all 3 interlocking. Just on the ground and not in the sky.

It's possible. You need to use cancel placement to anchor them together. And you are not as limited in what you can do as you probably think. You can do all the same glitches as PC except flicking.

You would take your bottom one, cancel place it farther away, then add one on top. If u want them flush with each other, you can use another terrace for height to sink it. So start with a stack of 2, cancel place the one on top further forward on the ground, then add a terrace on top of the cancel placed one

You are just chaining them off each other

When I cancel it just boops it back to where I picked it up from or puts it back in storage/pockets if I didn't pick it up

You are canceling the anchor terrace, though, and then placing another on top. When it "boops" back (as you say, I like that), they will be attached.

The only other thing that would cause this is if u are trying to cancel place it somewhere where there is not enough space, so it cancels the cancel placement

If anything is in the way when u hit ur number key, it won't cancel place, but send it back where it was

Alternatively (since there is more than one way to do things), you can float them each individually off the same anchor. You just have to move the anchor each time to get the floating terrace where you want. So instead of connecting them to each other, you are connecting them all to the same anchor so they look connected to each other.

It is not possible to make a true loop because rooms only connect in one direction off the harvest house. There is just no way to loop back to the harvest house (or grand harvest house).

You have to cancel place the prep station out of the way, place your items on the block, then reload your plot. The grid from the block no longer shows through the surface of the prep station, so you can't place stuff on it anymore with the prep station there.

Yeah, that doesn't make sense to me either. I basically am trying to place the thing when something is in the way by holding down the button, and then when I hit the number key it gets the message to place the thing in my inventory. It works every time. Sorry that it doesn't seem to work for you.

I’ve been able to connect second floors to home lines houses on red presents but that’s it

Also went to great lengths to get some home lines houses right next to each other at a diagonal using a ton of cancellation but it was an arduous process

And it’s pretty easy to get second floors on two houses rights next to each other but once it becomes a square cluster of 4 it’s impossible because something is in the way and the second floor of the house stays put even when you cancel the bottom floor somewhere else

I made sure that my red present was on ground level and then I was able to place houses connected to it 😊

To actually connect the rooms and for them to act accordingly you need to place them on the same present or otherwise at the same level and distance they normally would
There are some post of people that have done it tho I personally haven't tried it yet (not enough houses... yet)

If you want to try with another I followed a method that was shared in this channel! Put the present you want to put your house on on top of a 2nd present, then cancel place the anchor present to the ground (then put the house on). That way your house sinks right to ground level

It’s possible. You have to put both houses on the same present by cancel placing the present each time the exact number of squares (I think it’s 11, but it’s been a while so I would need to check my notes). They will look like they are snapped together except when you rotate them. At some of the diagonal angles they end up a little off from one another and you get a spot where the walls end up not being lined up so there’s a little step-off.

Okay thank you!! I think since I’ve covered most of it with the yard tiles, I’ve managed to get the two rooms very close together with the little hallway wall options then fills the gap with some wooden flooring so that seems to work.
I’m still learning a lot of glitching and this cancel placement box thing sounds beyond me.

When I switch between different landscapes it's the same spot as when I return from Kilima. There is another spot which is the unstuck spot, and I think if you are switching between the same landscape you end up in that spot. Unstuck and the between the same landscape spot is further forward and slightly to the left of the actual spawn spot from Kilima.

If you're on the snowy landscape, the spot is here, just to the left of the bottom of the sort of backwards C of snow on the dirt.

Yeah, when you spawn in, I don't think you are looking due north. If you look at the compass at the top of the screen, you'll see you're looking slightly left of north (if I remember correctly).

I actually counted squares on my plot and marked the exact center because it was driving me crazy.

Would someone be able to help me figure out why my plush does what it does when I'm trying to float + rotate it?

I want it roughly where the red x is, and I've been trying to experiment* to figure it out for like.... an hour and a half now, but the plush keeps teleporting off to the side and I'm starting to lose whatever's left of my mind.

1: X is where I want it. I place wall + shelf + anchor upright
2: Rotate shelf & place normally
3: Cancel placing the shelf
4: Place bug plush
5: Tear my hair out

You have to take the rotation into account. The plushie is going to end up in the same place in relation to where the paver was originally when you change the position of the paver to float the plushie. I can't really tell what you are doing in the pictures, nor where you ultimately want the paver, but when you rotate and float, the floated item will rotate in the opposite direction of how you rotate the paver. And up/down is left/right and left/right is up/down. Give me a minute to find another post where I explained with pictures.

Just to follow up on this in case anyone else needs the info! Rug on builders floor with web on top DOES group select. But that whole top trim area is "not a valid location". So I think my best bet is either canceling in something tall to place it on, or floating the rugs.

Yeah, I should have added that you have to have the rug on something like a builders floor that the cobweb will pick up.

But your house is on a present, right? So you can cancel the house out of the way to place things there, although you'll have to float the rugs if you don't want the wood of the house poking through them.

I've given this feedback officially before. I wish they would change the "tint" system to a "modification" system that included ways to modify furniture in more ways than just color. Like having bookshelves/cases automatically filled with books just like in those pictures instead of having to go and manually add each individual book.
That alone would give people a significant boost to their plots item count.

I think that modification system would be a drastic reset of the whole furniture system imo (no offense) - I'd be happy with stacks of books for item count purposes or even introduce filled bookshelf furniture

Hi im a decor/building newbie. im trying to decide between grand harvest house and alchemist cottage for an upgrade. i like the style/spaciousness of grand harvest but am annoyed that you cant really have a true second story!! what do yall recommend?

I always answer this by saying that it really depends on what you’re looking for…. The grand harvest house is big and open, has that wonderful porch, and has windows you can see through. And you can attach all the same rooms that you can attach to a harvest house. The second floor is a complaint because you’re right, it’s just a balcony. Many people also find it just too big and thus very hard to decorate (myself included although I do have one on my first plot).

The alchemist cottage is really quite small, and there is only one size room, but you can open up walls to make bigger rooms and you can stack them for a second floor (there’s even a small third floor attic space). I personally love the flexibility of the cottages because I open and close walls all the time to get more creative with my building. And you can get different roof trims and chimneys/dormer windows, etc. The biggest drawbacks to the cottages is the fact that you cannot see through the windows and the ceilings are quite low. So it can feel claustrophobic at first, although the way you decorate can definitely help with that.

One more difference…. The harvest house line and rooms get more expensive with each one you buy (not that you’re probably going to buy more than one, but the rooms increase in price as well), while the cottages are a single price that does not change.

Yeah the advantage is that the “windows” can be placed wherever you want, but they are not transparent so they seem more like wall art. 😆

That said, I’ve made several versions of windows using a door opening (you only get a front door—the other walls will only have an opening if you choose to have a doorway on them). They just end up basically being open windows.

To float you only need to be able to place it on something else
For a chandelier you have various options, easier one is to use a wooden floor:

• place floor on wall, about middle high
• cancel place floor higher, as much as you want to cut from the chandelier
• place chandelier on floor underside
• place floor again on wall
• group select from the chandelier and place on the ceiling
  This leaves a bit of the floor showing thru, you can orient it so it's less obvious
  Alternatively you can use a pillar and hide it in a wall or float from a floor/crate and hide it elsewhere

If I understand correctly, you had your wall pushed into the HH, then cancel place it forward so the curtains are floating, then you picked and placed the wall and the curtains jumped forward. This is how it works
Did you want your wall to jump back where it was instead of the curtain moving forward? Then you should have reload instead of picking the wall

I'm working on a stream through my treehouse/woodland plot, and not really in love with it. I used the trick to sink houses in order to have "moving" water, but it's a pain to cover all the trim on the wall, the width of the stream is pretty narrow and disjointed, and the movement isn't as visually impactful as id hoped.

So my question is: should I power through/leave the houses, or switch to sunken capital chic tables/mossy rugs?

The slanted roof may be easier to hide the edges on, and would give you more surface area.
Though it might be tedious getting the house into the right angle for it to sit flat on the ground.
I use the flat roof sometimes for this purpose, though it comes out squared unfortunately and still requires a lot of hiding

To flick the wallpaper on the slanted roof, you'll want to use a roof attachment like the chimney to flick it on

Do you usually so your water in shore? Calathea is also a good option, it's a little more natural looking for ponds and rivers.

I really love that when you tint items now that are cancel placed they pop back into place! Ive been reloading a lot less since I can just wait to tint to put it all back!!!! Just such a nice feature

Im the furthest thing from a decorator. But I am prepping way too much stuff for the day when i magically decide to become a decorator. Put the paver on something so that it's hanging over the edge of your plot out of bounds. Without the ground grid underneath it, you can flick onto the paver itself. The grid on the ground underneath your paver (no matter where the paver is, even if it's floating in the air) interferes when you flick. So hanging the paver out of bounds makes it work.

Unfortunately, even if you change the orientation of your house, the flooring stays the same. Even if you put your house on a present and rotate it to a diagnonal position, the flooring stays the same. It's oriented to the landscape itself.

Hello! I recently visited someone’s plot who had a kitsuu glitched in the center of the piksii grove on the rock. I’m trying to add my madrinas mushroom to that rock spot and I tried the anchor method but it won’t work. I’m on Xbox, any ideas?? TYIA!! 😊

I got all my flying plushies to float by the anchor method I found and used the camping stool. So I did this with the mushroom and got it to anchor but it shows red when it touches the piksii grove. 🙁 I can float it above it but can’t make it look like it’s sitting on the rock in the middle. Oh you might just need to cancel place your mushroom away once it’s floating, then place the anchor. When you cancel place it, it stays attached to the anchor but it won’t be in the way and turn red when you place the anchor.

Are you on PC? If so, then you can flick it. If not, then if you have room to move the house over somewhere on your plot… you could place the tree where you want it (on the grass), cancel place it out of the way, place your house back where you want it and reload your plot

It’s a glitch where you can trick the game into placing something where it wouldn’t normally want to go. You can look for YouTube tutorials on obstacle flick. Basically, though, you have your tree in your inventory and make sure you know which number it is in your hotbar. You pick something up that is placed down on your plot (really can be anything) and you stand kind of where you want your tree and try to place the item you just picked up—your character’s body needs to be in the way so that object is red and won’t place. Hold your mouse button down and hit the number key where your tree is. If you do it correctly, the tree will place.

Hi Frogga! Unfortunately if the floor is close enough (or if the items are on it), group select will always grab the floor. But depending on what you’re doing there might be a way around it. It’s possible to chain items together if they have a placeable surface so that they will always stay stuck together when you move them (as long as you pick it up from the first piece in your chain).

Yes! This should work! You will need one extra sideboard. To chain items you would do it like I described for nightstands in this post. #🏡│decor message When you get to the L part, you will just have to cancel place in a way that the sideboard you are placing at a right angle will still place, so you might have to move the others forward a little. I’m at work, but should be home in about an hour or so and can get some pictures to show you what I mean!

Okay, sorry it took me a little longer than an hour to get home (silly work getting in the way of my Palia!). So first, you can merge your two sideboards more if you want to--you just your second one over more when you place it. So for example in my first picture, that green sideboard is just my extra one, which is to get the height correct. I have already placed the first one on top and then cancel placed it down on the ground next to it, and now I'm placing the second. The further I move that top one to the left, the more merged they will be.

Then to make the L, you have to imagine where that third sideboard needs to be when you have stacked them again. So here I have the double sideboard back on top of the extra one. Where I need to place the third one so they merge correctly is exactly where it would need to be in relation to where they are now. So on the same level as those joined ones but in the place where I'm currently just holding it (I'm just showing where it would be, it's not getting placed there underneath). Make a note with the grid where the corner is, or else mark it with a pillar (which is what I did). Then you want to cancel place the pair of merged sideboards down in a way that you can place that third one on top. You will probably need to move them forward a little to where they are, just so you can get the third one to place. Then place it in the right place in relation to your marker. I've shown two different angles in the third and fourth pictures. When you pick them up and put them down again, they will be merged and connected! As long as you always pick up from the first one, they will move as one unit.

I hope this makes sense. The thing to realize is that the sideboard is connecting to where the others were originally placed when they were stacked, so it doesn't matter where the sideboard gets placed on top of them once they are cancel placed, as long as it's still in the right place in relation to where they were originally.

Also, I had the problem where it wouldn't place after they were merged either. Some of the furniture does this--it's like it's no longer completely level and so the second piece collides with the ground. I had to cancel the second one just to place the pair on top of the extra. But as long as you're just cancel placing, they will all stay chained together!
