sink the top one on a paver to the depth you want it, cancel place the bottom one so you are able to place the paver you sunk the top nightstand on. place the sunken one where you want it and then reload back into your plot by either going to kilima or switching plots that will trigger your bottom nightstand to go back to its original spot

You might need to actually watch a video to see how to cancel place if this doesn't make sense, but I made this work. I can't upload video, but here are pictures. Sorry for the very long wall of text, but I hope this helps...

1. Place your floor (the bowl in the top right corner is so you can see the orientation of the floor in each picture).

2. Second picture... move the floor to the left and rotate it two clicks counterclockwise--move it so that the point furthest from you is on the same spot where the top left corner was before (the poorly drawn red square is where the floor piece was before). Now DON'T place the floor, just hold it there and instead hit the number key for something placeable (other decor, food, whatever) in your hotbar. The floor will look like you placed it and you will be now holding that placeable item from your hotbar--just hit escape, you don't need to do anything with that.

3. Third picture (I had to move around to face a different direction here in order to place this)... Then get your other floor and snap it to connect to the rotated floor (you'll have to rotate to be in the same orientation it to make it snap, and you want to aim at the first floor you cancel placed in a way to get them to snap together, not just place them next to each other).

4. Fourth picture, pick up the two floors together by clicking on the FIRST floor you cancel placed down (if they don't move together then you didn't manage to get them to snap, and you'll have to go back to the second floor and place it again until they actually connect).

5. Once you have the two moving as one, place them down again, and they will snap to look like they do in the fifth picture.

When you have this figured out, you can then play with how far and how much you rotate that first builders floor to get them to merge together at different angles, and you can add more floors in a series. As long as you always pick up by the first floor, everything else will follow.

I have these merged in mine, and yes, they look so nice. To merge them top to bottom, I think you would put the bottom one on a shelf (you'll need the bowl to get it there). Then move the shelf down a little (as much as you want them to merge). Then place the second one on top. Pick up the bottom one and place it and the top one will be sunk into the bottom one and they will be merged and can be moved as one using the bottom one.

Put it on a shelf and sink it down by about 1 and 1/2 to 2 small squares. No need for anchors at all. Put the first one on there, cancel place the shelf down by that measurement, then add the other one on top

Good luck! Once I saw you wanted them rotated, too, I had to go make sure it actually worked the way I was suggesting. It takes a little bit of mental gymnastics to figure out which way to rotate and move the first one, but they do stick together!

Single-player cottage float method using quick-select-on-prior-supporting-object for the first float, then after that the two-player synchronized-placement method.

Though it looks like the latter method has some funny business with timing akin to the flicking window, and I need to do some testing to narrow that down. (At whatever point you do not time it quite right, the placed floated unit stops letting you put more on it. I had one go to 5 floors, another stopped at 3)

If you aim just right, you might be able to pick it up from under the house. Or put an industrial shelf on a builders block and then a chair on the shelf, rotate the shelf upside down and sit. Then you can sit under your house upside down and hopefully reach your rug.

If you place a bowl on the chair and then group select (with the alt key on PC, but it's possible on console, too) with the bowl you can put the chair on the shelf. It's a very entertaining activity to sit under your plot this way.

It's a really good idea to try stuff out on a separate plot. I tried to learn so much on my already crowded original plot and I had so much trouble with having the space. My new plot has no trees or anything on it yet, and it's so much easier.

Anchorless floating seems very complicated, but once it clicks, it's actaully easier than reg, floating lol

The only complicated part is figuring out which wall u need for certain rotations , and how far/high u can go depending on where u anchor ur object

It's not actually anchorless, you are anchoring to a wall, a floor, or the outside ground instead of a decor piece

I do cooking parties to get gold! Theres a website, paliaparty dot app, its great for finding them! Id suggest starting out with cake parties, there are roles you can choose where you dont have to bring any ingredients at all which is great for starting out!

I don't know what was the problem here... I was being careful not to use the front wall of the cottage, but this is the back wall. So I'm not sure if that was the problem, or if it's just because I was also trying to rotate it. I did succeed in rotating it, though!

Front and back walls on the main house (HH) will cause it to either merge or expand, so it's best to use an attached house piece for that, or rotate the house piece so ur not using them

Had a question regarding homelines. Patch states "Also has a connected room limit of 10 rooms.". But I could have say 15 if 10 were connected but separately connected - meaning I would be using up 15/30 total build limit?

Nope, 10 means 10, no matter how u configure them. The only way to get past the housing limit is with glitching

You could also section off your builds into 3 seperate cottages. I’m waiting eagerly for the glass houses seen in that one look ahead video, but I’ve used 6 for Aquarium, 2/4(6) for bugs/museum, and 4 for main house (using attic for bathroom) and I intend to do 3 for my greenhouse if those rooms every come into effect.

I’ve come out of the harvest house mindset and started into the “cottage” mindset and focusing primarily on bungalow sized housing and realism rather than maze mansion.
Definitely will be up to your preference

You could also bump one of those houses as close as you can and bridge over to it using builder blocks if you’re looking for another way to exceed the 10 without the need for glitches (door ways need to line up)

It's simple enough.
Place an anchor on the shelf. (Like a paver, gourmet dessert plate etc.)
If the anchor you want to use can't be placed on a shelf make a contraption like in the picture.
Place the shelf at a height.
Pick up the shelf, lower the height, don't place it. Cancel place it by selecting a different item (The shelf needs to be green to place when doing this otherwise it'll warp back to where it originated from).
Place the item you want to sink on the anchor.
Finally move the anchor and place it wherever you want. Item should sink.
I hope my explanation was understandable 😛

Uhh, basically just like floating.
First I make the structure with wood walls so I know where to cancel the anchor later. Then the plate (anchor I used) on a shelf, shelf sideways and then canceling in front of the first wall, placing jelly on it, cancel jelly away, cancel plate in front of the next wall, jelly on it and so on.
I hope that’s somewhat helpful, hard to explain. xd if not lmk

If you can use the same item to flick it makes it really easy. Not viable for something that takes tons of palium and flow wood to make, but if you have two of something, place one down somewhere and use that as your “in the way” item when you flick the one from your inventory. Then you can position it just where you want it.

I have flicked lots of trellises. The point you place the barrel will be the middle underneath the trellis, so move the barrel further back and towards the bin when you flick.

In order to float you will need to learn cancel placement. It works on console, just a little trickier. Look for videos on switch and you can translate that to whatever platform you’re using.

Ah, gotcha. I'd say the easiest way to do that is to build it separately from the OOB floor itself, then push it into place.

Flicking it on to where it sits just on the back edge can be difficult

That's just bc it won't sit turely centered, like so. But u can always use cancel placement on the floor piece to nudge it over the 1/2 small square

Just go 3 in from the back edge with a pillar, after cancel placing the floor 1/2 square over and it will sit perfectly on there -

no poke through on the back

Yep. Since urs is sitting far enough away from the bin it will just snap right back where it was

Ur just cancel placing 1/2 small square over to center, and going 3 ticks in to get it to sit on the edge of the floor piece. Use a pillar so it puts it right where u want

Nope, they made it to where we can no longer bump, things don't snap properly, the grid is now recognized, even after floating/elevating something, etc.

If u anchor to a house floor u can go up to 13 crates high, and if it's close enough to a wall on a house piece, u can float into infinity XD

U just have to stay within the 12 crate radius away from the wall. Left or right when looking at the wall u can go as far as u want

If you still have patches here and there, or don't want to redo it, you can pick the floor, place it somewhere on ground, place a paver on top, group select from the paver, place floor in the space, it won't connect to the others since it thinks it's a paver now

I have watched so many videos in the past two weeks, both the movies themselves as well as “making of” videos where you can see the set. I have that image open on my phone, too! Unfortunately it’s hard to do all the curves and angles since we can only put rooms on the x-y axes, but I’m still trying to emulate it as closely as I can!

I just wish we could color the builders blocks and furniture. The wood is so grey and flat, or else very orange, not the rich dark wood from the set.

tried to make a flower ceiling, finally got it figured out and placed, only to realize I missed a entire strip because for some reason it wasn't connected to the rest, so now I have to either get another pillar or take it all apart and redo it this time making sure to add the missing strip

Tested it, use a pillar, or u get a big gap. U can also use the "pushing" thing I mentioned before to scoot it down the rest of the way on the wall

So just place it as far down as u can with the pillar, then cancel place it onto a crate u have placed, picked up, then placed again on the wall (this is just to undo rotation of the crate when picked up), multi-select by the crate and move it down the rest of the measurement (1 small square give or take) and place. It will snap back where it was at the right height

There are some workarounds in the meantime they fix them, you can search this channel for some.
And if you don't mind a pillar on your wall, you can place a shelf on a pillar, group select from the shelf, point to the wall, turn so the pillar is horizontal, place above windows, place curtain on pillar, voilà

I really hope it's a thing eventually with the new housing lines where you can connect a hallway to two different rooms. It's driving me batty that I can have a harvest house with a large room directly connected to the back, put hallways on the same side of the house and large room, add a small room to each hallway, then can't connect a hallway between the two small rooms. It's the perfect fit, it just....won't connect to both of them. And making one of the small rooms a medium one takes up too much room. The two small rooms is perfect to be connected by a hallway, but it's the smallest amount off so they won't connect. 😭

It’s not because it’s off by a little—you just can’t connect them in a ring. The sockets just don’t work that way. They only connect in one direction.

Oh, the horizontal pillars are quite easy to do, all you need is a shelf

these segmented stone bits i mean, they seem to be more textured (that or i'm just playing on a lower graphics setting). plus, how were the bottom halves of the shelves covered up? clipped via cancel place or flicking? im still getting a handle on the former, and i havent quite gotten the latter to work with wall items quite yet

You take your shelf (or wall, that's why I use the walls to make them), you simply cancel it 1 square back and put the 2nd pillar, move the wall back and magic ✨

They are pillars merged into each other, and one rotated by 3 ticks to make it a star shape. I can tell u how I did it, lol

@tepid solstice@pulsar bronze Take a pillar and center it in a square. Put another pillar on top. Pick up by the bottom pillar and cancel place it in the center of the next square to the left. Take the top pillar and cancel place it in the center of the square the bottom pillar had been. Take out another pillar, put it on top, then turn by 3 and place it. Pick up the bottom pillar and place and they will merge together in a star pattern when u look from above.

You have to make sure the tiles you place are not connected to the other tiles

As you can see, the tiles have a tiny space between them so they arnt connected to anything. Also tiles can't connect to tiles. They can only be group selected if they are stacked on top of eachother. 🙂

It's horrific to look at but it looks nice, if the grass wasn't there. And also soo in your face with the obvious square shape aswell.
