Has anyone run into issues with the new cottages not letting you put more than ten OPENINGS on a ten room house? I have all the openings correct on the cottages on both sides, I checked and hubby checked, but on the 11th opening only one side works. We’re going crazy here, but we don’t know what else to do. Please tell me this makes sense and that we’re not crazy!

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by openings, but the new houses only allow ten connected. You can still have up to 30 rooms on a plot, but only 10 can be connected at a time.

@heady spoke I know you pointed out that you can no longer stack the books after using your method to lie them down, but I hid some more dessert plates inside and now I can stack. I put a stack of dessert plates down, then placed a book on top of those, then cancelled it all away and placed a new book on the shelf. I'm hoping I can do this repeatedly to get a bigger stack.

@signal thunder cluttering part 2 XD first i think - what type of items would make sense there? (placing similiar types makes sense to me, especially in ktichen XD) and i cancel stuff on my way when i do so, sink - dishes, above working area and next to stove - "spices" and sauces, left one? random not food XD plants tho go everywhere always :V

i go and reload, to see how it looks to discover clock is in darkness XD and that i def need more decor on that counter on the left - composition is the reason, it feels unbalanced compared to other areas

For one book I used a single dessert plate stack (the one that already comes stacked). It was the perfect height for the blue book on the bottom. I think one more plate on top of the stack would work for a thicker book. I actually tried placing the stack first and canceling it and then placing the bottom book, but I had to have the extra plate so that it would peek out of the surface of the bottom book. That works, but you get more of a space between the books because of how the plate from the top book sits on the pile. So just placing the top book on the stack first before canceling it all works better.

Oh no, you just need to use the shelf to create the little combo unit of plate and book. Then you can move it wherever you want. It can be very tricky to grab it by the plate, though.

U can still use the bowls as well, but the spot where it turns green on it's side is almost non-existant now, so you need to spam click while wiggling ur mouse over the spot. the surface u are laying it flat on also needs cancel placed bc otherwise the book will be merged into the surface a bit

Nice. There is also one other way to make a stack with the method I showed, and that is to use cancel placement. Place ur first book on and sink it onto the plate like I show, then cancel place it off the plate. Pick up the shelf and cancel place it a half of a small square forward, and 1 small square down, then add ur next book. Keep adding an additional 1/2 small square to the measurement forward for each book added (my shelf top was facing right, so forward would be to the right)

There's no shortage of opportunity for improvements, that's part of the adventure of building UGC systems in a live service game! Figuring out how and when to actions these opportunities while constantly pushing what the average player can accomplish, not just the advanced players, across both upper and lower bound devices is where the complexity lies.

To clarify this, I brought this up to the team to discuss internally and assess the assets feasibility.

Roof decks provide a new vector of creativity and we want to support it to the best of our ability.

As for placing anything anywhere, in this case table surfaces, it's a much larger ask that has many more implications which could potentially break data structures or gameplay. While I'll never say never, it's a much more complicated ask to facilitate.

There's always a reason as to why rules exist. Tables for example use parent/child relationships which can get rather complex if you don't have some rules in place to ensure the data is sound.

For example an object on a table, a table on a rug, a rug on a floor, a floor on a yard is a lot of relationships to handle and remember as you move assets around. If we stress it too much, it could break.

if the team ends up giving us the ability to float/sink items natively it would get around needing the parent/child relationship for some items
since you could just fake place an item, instead of using the actual table placement system

Yeah placing objects in 3d space is a known desire for the builders in the community, but that comes with it's own set of complexities we'd need to figure out to enable it such as new camera controls, new placement modes and/or new keybinds that we'd have to free up for controllers.

Purely out of interest: Which means that builders floors / blocks and especially terraces are working differently? Because these allow stacking up to 50 and on top of that most items on each of them.

The building block system is built to be able to do this in a performant manner using ISM (instanced static mech) tech which can't be leveraged for all assets or assets of different material types.

We actually allowed for this in Closed Alpha/Beta as we were testing limitation for our systems. Players built a lot of crazy stacked decor objects that ultimately proved to break some of our fundamental systems and leave players with bad data.

But I hear the feedback, ie I want to build bigger and better things with more controls and less friction, and that's a goal we strive towards every day.

We don't have a glitch that would be able to go above that limit BUT with planning and good knowledge of the mechanics it was possible, for example, to build on area of ground similiar to harvesting house over a 3k items and 5 floors building, without it breaking down at any point

We're generally okay with the community experimenting and pushing the creative boundaries, you need to keep in mind that it's at your own risk.

If something breaks because we needed to update logic somewhere, it could result in a negative outcome for players pushing beyond the rules.

I initially meant dark green and black as separate options. However, black and green together is still lovely. I’d love if they gave us the option to switch the colours around, so in terms of Calathea if it were green and black: black is the primary, green is secondary. But for folks that want green as primary, and black as secondary would have the option to switch (much like how you can choose to have a solid wall or have a window, etc). I know that’s two different things, and I’m not a developer, so I don’t even know how that’d be implemented.

Clear explanation (I hope):

You need to take builders walls for it. Open your wall from the H menu and put the builders wall where your actual wall should be. Put your wall back on in H menu and you'll be able to put the curtain

If it still doesn't work, put 2 builders walls

Theo's method works too, but it'll leave a small gap between your curtain and wall

Sunken wooden builders floor (if that’s what you’re referring to) works for me. That’s how I decorated my entrance of my Elderwoods plot. I do want to preface, it was harder to sink because the floor had a hard time anchoring to the paver. I had to hit the spot just right.

I do like that the alchemist cottage allows open walls without glitches. Just waiting for us to have usable windows, and the ability to have multiple windows on a wall/wherever we want WITHOUT glitches.

The ONLY reason I still utilise the houses is because of the decor limit. I’d use so much space on the build alone, without any decorations. That, and the homes allow wallpapers/flooring options. If they give us the ability to add wallpaper or flooring to the builders items, it’s a done deal. 😂

I just imagine it’d be hella tedious to add wallpaper to each individual builders wall/block/floor, etc because that’d take AGES.

To some extend, there're still some bugs about it we don't know if they're patched (building at the same time multiple rooms for example) But the bug of going to Kilima while building is patched

How do you have the patience and inclination for this!?! Cooking is my nemesis and I struggle massively with it on PC, if I know I need to cook or fish I play on my Switch because the controls feel more intuitive

cooking parties are easy esp cake parties sign up for sweet leag role and stir a sweet lef once and wait for the cake to be done rinse and repeat lol.

but its summarized quite easily:
more different steps = takes longer + higher chance of getting 'messy'
the higher the input value = higher sale value
the lower your part of that input value = more profit

i'll be honest, I dont do anything but epic fish and maws parties anymore.

cake parties arent bad, but I'll be honest after having done lots of these before the nerf.. yeah doesnt really feel worth it

How did you add wallpaper to the ceilings?! One of the things I pray to the Devs for is the ability to add wallpaper/flooring to the ceilings, the wood is just not my vibe at all 👎🏻

You'll have to anchor it to something. Rotate the anchor opposite such that when it snaps back and the floatsam shelf follows, it's now resigned to the orientation you want

and to anchor it you have to do cancel placement or whatever it's called exactly

Such that you are putting the anchor object from its adjusted orientation back to normal temporarily such that the shelf can be snapped/anchored to it, but then on reload it teleports back to its adjsuted orientation without its acnhored object following

Wallpaper to roof is pretty much just positioning walls behind the ceilings and finding the angle and position of tiny invisible pixels -usually- usually around the edge of the visual meeting point between them to apply the wall decor to the roof

There are other tricks for doing all of them
