You can cancel place on consoles/switch. You need to set up ur keys first and they have to jump or something to get the hotbar to show

So u were correct, what is shown can be done no matter what u r on, u just can't flick the lights on, since u can't flick on consoles

I'm running into an issue where there's no decor outside my house where it currently is and where I want to move it, but if I try to move it I can't place it anywhere and it gives me the "invalid socket" error, even though I'm moving from the main house. I really don't wanna have to put up all my interior decor just to move the buildings. 😭 lol Is there a thing now where all your rooms have to be connected through halls or something, maybe? Most of my rooms are directly connected to the main house. Tried restarting the game and got the same error, and moved some of the interior furniture farther inside just in case something was clipping that I couldn't see. Haven't done any hacks to anything.

If you add doors on either side then I think you will need 2 persons to place the last room as it will collide with the door, but I have never done anything not solo

I have a second floor, and the answer is canceling! Build your 2 floor platform on the ground away from anything else, as you go you'll need to cancel away parts of the floor. But after plenty canceling end up with a half circle of floors on the ground. Make sure the middle front piece is placed first. The use alt select to place this whole this on top of 1-2 pillars (I know I sunk a pillar on another to get 1 1/2 height, do that via a crate. Can explain separate) and the cancel floor far away off pillar. Place pillar directly in center of gazebo and it will all snap into place!

I would definitely start with cancellation for ps5 tutorial searching. Once you get the mechanic down the project should be decently simple from there. It's the basis for a lot of tricks

There's a structure that looks like a pavilion, or if it was attached to house a carport, or like a covered area for picnic tables, etc. It has 4 corner beams and a roof and concrete floor, but no walls. I've seen it a lot on tour plots, but never seen it in game anywhere. What is the structure called and where do I find it? It feels perfect for placing outside tools (like anvil, melters, etc.)

Most of it is cancel placement, the inner corners are flicked, since they won't sit there on their own bc of the beam. The ones that are vertical on the right, on either side of the door can't be flicked on at that angle, and they won't sit there on their own, so I had to put them on pillars and hide them in the wall.

What i do is have a copper wall with a floor connected to it and place the floor on the top then place the wall in the picture on top of it then use the cancelation glitch one the floor in the middle of the wall and place the top stone wall, after that place the floor again and then the floor should be 2.5 instead of 3

How do I fudge a hallway with rooms coming off the sides, and not just at the end? I tried a large room and then having a small room coming off it. But when I tried to do the large room off the small room, I keep getting the socket error message. I added in two hallways between the little room and the house, and so the big room isn't touching the side of the house, but I still get the socket error even though neither the side of the large room or the side of the house are touching because of the two hallways. Help!

Yes, trying to add a large room to that small room. I would like a relatively long hallway with rooms off either side. When I did the small room off the large room, so the large room was where that small room is, off the side, it worked. But I can't seem to do the same with a large room onto a small room. The problem with having a smaller room off a larger one is that it makes the "hallway" look enormous. And I can't fit everything I want into the small room.

ok I'm trying to learn how to do cancel placement. watched youtube videos, but somehow I am still not getting it. Can someone help me with these steps? Say I'm trying to merge a tree with one of the bouncy shrooms (is that even possible?) can I possibly use cancel placement to do this so it looks like a pink bouncy shroom with a tree jutting out the middle - or does it necessarily have to be two of the same type of item (like two dressers)

U have to, while holding the item u wish to move out of the way, hit a number key that contains a starred fish/bug/food, or a decor item. This temporarily locks it into place where you were holding it without having actually moved the item

put a builder piece, and umbraan fence on a terrace. multiselect builder piece to put the whole grp on another builder piece. then multiselect the fence, then the whole grp can be linked to another umbraan fence. the terrace can be moved away.

You can place it in an empty room or house, then store the entire room in H view.
Also, just thinking out loud — if you place a builder’s pillar on the chair, then multiselect the pillar, and attach that group to the front or back wall of a harvest house, the bowl might end up showing.

Were you able to place your wall? I know I'm a bit late but here is a simple way to do it, glitch free and easy for consoles (like my Switch)
Just make sure that the crate is not connected to the wall (only snapped in place) and that when multi-selecting from it the pointer remains in the crate, this may take a few tries of placing and selecting again

In my cSe I got all the blocks in their exact location first, then canceled the whole structure away with alt select, then got the Pavillion on top trickiest bit is making sur you have things in the exact spot. I used pillars on the ground to measure my corners.

The newest plot, elderwood cavern, also appeals to me. The “sparkles” I think are actually modeled after real life glow worms. They live on cave walls and ceilings and glow bright in the dark.

There are 2 possible ways to do it. One - You can move the hallway there out of the way, place the lights, cancel place everything out of the way and put the hallway back. Two - If ur on PC u can flick it there

Ok so I've been watching YouTube videos for days to get inspo for my new plot and OMG Im obsessed with this! They killed this decor but I cant figure out how they did it. How can I get the decor/plats on the front of the house like this?

They figured out the shape, and then anchored them to a builder's piece and then hid it somewhere, probably in the wall itself

You set your frame rate to 30, and everything else on epic. From there all u need to do is, while holding a different object where you want the lights to go, stand close enough to where it says "something is in the way" (I recommend u use another set of lights since it already does and u can line them up exactly where u want them). And then you can just hold in the left mouse button and then hit the number key u have ur lights u want placed in.

It tricks the game into thinking u placed what u were holding, while actually placing the item from ur inventory

And don't get discouraged if it doesn't work the first time, it can take a few tries, tho doing it the way I said is the easiest. The other way is to bind a key for placement, and then hit that key and the number button very quickly one after the other

That's the point of flicking. It will put the item where it normally won't let u bc of collision

with flicking red is good, lol

Just make sure it says something in the way not invalid placement

If the lights dont work for u, u can use something smaller to hold

If u mean what u need to hold, it doesn't matter what object u use as long as it's placeable, u just need to gauge where the center of ur lights are and then do the thing

It's very similar to cancel placement, except ur trying to place what u pull out very quickly, so u hold the left mouse button or hit ur placement key before u hit the number key to pull the item out. If it's fast enough it places the item in your inv. where u were holding the other item. Hope that makes sense

Oh, and I forgot to add that the item you hold has to have already been placed down.

If you want to move terraces out of bounds, you have to put builders floors on top to make a sort of bridge and multiselect from the floors

Yeah I’ve got that part worked out and can do that, but I want to build like steps, with the small then medium then large. If I try to place them individually with a bridge each, they won’t merge into each other in the out of bounds area, they way they do in bounds. Hope that makes sense

They won't ? That's surprising, but I've never tried it so I can't tell... If you know how to use the cancellation method, you could try to place your first terrace then cancel it away to place the second and so on That way, when you'll be finished and reload your plot they should merge

Yeah I can’t get them to merge at all. I was trying to build the whole thing that I wanted and then move it all together but it won’t multi select that, just what the bridge is attached to. Ah, now I understand the struggle you get for the exterior I think, personally, I would start by laying out some paths around your plot from buildings to buildings, then only decorate around those paths If a space then feels too empty after the paths, add little sceneries here and there That's mainly how I planned my first plot, went for a forest cottage vibe

It was a glitching technique that let you merge rooms into others, make open walls or merge the gazebo in your house for example You needed 2 plots to do it, but since the devs patched the tree count for plots, it has been broken and no longer works...

This entire build is glitched, and done with more complex methods, so if ur brand new to glitching, trying to re-create this is going to be really difficult. I would definitely recommend learning the basics of glitching before even trying something this advanced. I've been glitching for 2 yrs give or take, and a build like that would even take me time to figure out

depends on what aesthetic ur going for, and ur item limit. Flagstone will take more pieces than the wood pavers.

no, i know...you're right...i'm changing it all but it's gonna take time...wip on top of wip lol...and is cool, i really appreciate your offer to help but i'm gonna give it a try for myself...you already help loads by pointing out things you notice...

It works fine on a crate in the yard, so I figure the fact they are in the air is the problem.

Ok, so it actually doesn't work the same as crafters. I tried floating them with flicking, and it wouldn't follow the anchor, and bounced back to the entrance when I left the plot...

I do wanna try something else rl quick tho

Nvm since it won't follow the anchor it's flicked on, multi-select is a bust

It is odd tho, that it won't stay up in the air with cancel placement, since the anchor technically never left the ground

This one stayed (crate never left the ground) while all others jumped to the entrance, whether I disconnected the original starter piece for the fence, cancel placed the crate in the air, or just attached them to a stack

And since it won't follow the piece it was flicked on, and can't be moved regularly or with multi-select,there's nothing else I can think of to do.

I've also built a small research center, a summer kitchen, a garden, and I'm currently working on a garden with a fountain that leads to a pavilion which will be a terrace. I’m not sure anyone has answered you yet, but the crafters do this if you put them on building blocks (chests, too). They have to be on the ground/floor.

I've got a room with a fireplace that has an exit to my (very whimsy) garden area. Trying to think of what to do with it. Can't be too random because it's attached to a bedroom, but I'm thinking maybe something apothecary-esque? Anybody have something similar they can share?

I built a kitchen like that, right next to the garden – basically so I could pick 'fresh' vegetables and cook them. But since in your case it's a bedroom there, you could try making a laundry room – and outside in the garden, you could add that decoration with clothes hanging out to dry.

Cute idea! Buuut... in terms of scale I don't think it'll work 😦 it's a large room and the bedroom is a small room. Hahah.

I see... another ideea is to make a living room with some bookshelves, you already have the fire place that is cozy, put some plants and a porch outside with a table and some chairs - it could be like a relaxing zone next to your bedroom and your garden. 🙂

cancel place the flower pot out of the way and place ur anchor up there. It will snap back together

carry the anchor to where you want it then place it without enabling it to sink until you get it to where you want it

Hey yall I made this in a bay window and the far right side is the absolute closest possible I could put the plush to the edge of the window but what it causes when stacking it up all the way is to make this huge gap going up and its really stressing me out, the other side doesnt get this gap. if you stack chests on the bay window in the right place, they create a placeable area in the front surface that allows you to place wall items, then you can remove the chests (its been a while since i've done this, but probably still works, someone correct me if i'm wrong, pls)

I'm having issues understanding builders blocks - I saw someones plot with a really cool idea and want to recreate it but i can't find anything on youtube because the algo is trash .... is there an expert that can help me?
All i want to do is anchor an elevated patio that covers the stairs so i can extend it out .... but i can't get them to turn yellow :/

If this is what you already have, you could move one of your sides away, fill in with the number of floors you need to cover the surface, cancel that surface away to put the side back in place, the surface should link back itself in place Hope it makes sense
