What is everyone using to keep their focus meter up? I am having a hard time cooking food because all I harvest are star quality crops. And I need to cook stuff because they nerfed pickled tomatoes and potatoes.

You can still use non-starred crops when cooking with other starred crops. When you choose the option to use starred ingredients and you don't have any starred ones for a particular one, non-starred will be used. Just remember that if recipe uses more than one crop and you have only one starred, it will still try to use starred ones and you will fail. Examples:

Recipe requires any spice and you don't have any starred - you can use regular.
Recipe requires any spice, you have 1 starred spice sprouts and regular garlic - you can't use regular garlic.
Recipe requires 3 apples, you have one starred apple and 3 regular - you can't make it

You can put ingredients you don't want to use in the lockbox, they wont be used.

but to answer your q - i still use preserves (less focus now, but i'm lazy)

Gazebo is for housing slots! You can obtain these by going to your house and clicking on the H menu. There is a dropdown at the top to purchase more housing slots- you'll have to buy three of these for 50k, 75k, and 100k respectively.

apple trees take 12 days to grow(then 6 6 6 ), if i put the fert on day 12, would it give the bonus? Or do I have to put it on day 11? or is it some s6 math where it has to be everyday.

Don't be afraid of cake parties if you want to make gold- you can typically farm sweet leaves pretty quickly in Bahari if you can't afford to batter/frosting (and aren't high enough gardening for starred blueberries/apple jams). Some groups also give oven spots to newbies or friends that have used ingredients in the past.
You can look for cake parties in #1143270926394335282 and grab the LFG role in id:customize !

If you oven though, be sure to ask for editor before the caking starts & double tap H if you get stuck!

Run around & forage and look at trees while you're foraging. Spitfire Cicadas are usually harder to find because there's a lot of people triggering bugs off of trees.

Bug hunting is a lot easier to do when it's second in your mind than first, imo. Make it a secondary goal like farming boss kills in old school runscape, if it's not your primary goal it's an "added bonus" when you finally get it.

unless you're planning on doing something like cake parties, it takes a long time to make a lot of money (by design), so in my opinion just make what you need. like if there's a certain dish you like making, grow what you need to cook it. I basically went with "general assortment" and it has worked well for me. just make sure you have some of everything in your storage for gifts and whatnot, and make sure to grow cotton as you'll need it to make fabric for quests, gifts, and making furniture.

also remember that if you put two tomato plants next to each other, for example, they won't give each other the watering adjacency bonus, but if you put a potato and a tomato next to each other they will

I did some hunting to get 6 plots before I activily started making a decent profit to buy the remaining 3.

a tip I can add is to take your time into consideration and look at how many days it takes to grow certain crops. I personally started with selling carrots since it was fast enough until I could afford the tomato/potato combo. But if you can start with the tomato/potato, go for it

Nope. When choosing a recipe at any of the cooking station, you get a box that says “use star quality ingredients” it will change ALL ingredients on the list to star quality and lock the start button if you don’t have all the starred ingredients.

I wish this were the case too, we found the best way is to have a party, all use sneakybombs (sticky can cancel coop credit) and you mass catch everything that spawns to force spawn the rares and epics, usually get 2-3 epic per lure this way, and that spot is the only spot that can spawn 3 epic tier bugs with 1 lure

yup...some folks have had hundreds and thousands of casts. it's just rare...but as Kraad mention - there's some theories around this channel wondering if some people somehow got flagged as having the recipe and it not drop. no way for us to know. if you get a couple thousand casts in and don't get it, can submit a bug ticket (i'm sure lots of others have as well)...can't hurt.

getting stuck at cooking stations is a known bug, press H twice to get unstuck

Yes, don't reel it in if it's not a flameray. Let the fish swim away and then recast to save bait

cooking annoys me where I can’t used regular foraged items with starred veggies etc… I really wish they would change the interface to pick and choose each ingredient’s star level… I have foraged like 60+ regular garlic and only 4 star garlic and my farming is 15 so I crank out way more star produce 😭

agreed, the only way I know to do this is lock box the starred stuff you don't want to use, you may need to be cooking with a friend that can start the recipe though.

you can - put the starred garlic in a lockbox and it'll let you use normal with your starred crops

you can if you shove the starred ingredients in a lockbox that you can buy the recipe for at tish's register

Yeah you share the ingredients but both get the food loot, it's great fun and saves on ingredient cost

hide your spare chests since they connect across plots, then they don't visually clutter but you still have full storage
